Interesting link ... not being an expert with Icons I use ICOfx what prog can open the PP and Mobile shell dat files?
I have been using Torx's iphone theme via WAD3 and WAD. I am fooling around with SPB Mobile Shell, but have not figured out how to customize it as easily as I can with Wisbar stuff via Author mode.
Just curious of opinion on who thinks which one is better and why?
Thanks!
Both applications are completely different. Wisbar wont have animations while switching pages on Desktop. Mobile Shell cannot spread icons the way you want. So choose what is important for you or have both!
In my opinion both are not adviced for Pro WinMo users..
Why wouldn't you advise it? I love my Wisbar and WAD. And recently I've tried SPB Mobile Shell because of the Diamond theme (seems to be the next hype, same way it was with iPhone themes)

Click to collapse
I am also trying mobile shell - what is the difference between the Now and Today screens? I am guessing you disable the Today screen by unchecking everything?
Thanks
I have found that SPB Mobile Shell drains the battery faster than just plain HTC Home, which is really sad as I love the Diamond theme...
If you want animation(mobile shell benefit) on transition pages..wait for WAD2(animation added) to be out..it will beat mobile shell for sure
WAD vs. SPB Shell
WAD is a application replacing your default WM today screen. You have to add the shortcuts to the apps you want (you can make it Finger Friendly).
SPB Shell is as it says a shell around WM so all the shortcuts are available. It's Finger Friendly and has some nice extra stuff in it. It's not skinnable by default (just minor different looks), but some people here at XDA have managed to create some great skins.
Today vs. Now
Today is the standard WM desktop
Now is a overview page in SPB Shell (with time, weather, appointments, email, sms and missed calls)
Yea, with WAD, and WA3 together, its almost like giving your phone's OS a makeover. I like WAD better but until I finish making a good theme, I'll be using SPB Mobils shell most likely
Both Work Well Together on o2 XDA Flame
Using both - WHY - Like the startup screen & easy system settings - and like the menu's of WAD - Maybe someone will develop both in one - and yes, it's like a full makeover ! The Flame does have lots of internal storeage space & a Nvida vid card - Come on xda developers - lets see something in the future
I wondered if this was possible and it definitely is. It seems that you can not get rid of the Top bar. I used some wvga files and it did change the look but of course it was messed up because of the top bar. I figured it was time to start up a thread for all those lovely people who take the time to skin spb mobile shell.
OK, as most of you probably know, I'm not the big designer...
The background and the general idea is based on notilad's Clear Glass icons set.
Note the icons don't look well on bright backgrounds - they only consist of semi-transparent white...
The main icon image templates are mostly from the free Tango icon library, but some are also from Windows resp. the default app icons, and a few from other icon libraries I found out there...
The SPB PocketWeather theme is based on SPB's Black47 theme.
For SPB PocketPlus, there's also an iconset with black background, so you can memorize the position of the wanted icon there - because it's really hard to see white icons on white background...
The screenshots show some examples: The Today screen uses PocketPlus with SPB Weather as rightmost plugin, below is a custom phoneAlarm Skin using the TGA icons. The MortButtons main menu uses the PNG icons.
Thanks, I will be using these in my WAD2 setup.
Thanks!
Will also try to make a nice looking WAD2 Skin out of them!
this looks incredible! how do I even begin to get something like this on my x1 given that im clueless to installing and making all this unofficial stuff?!
Is there any tool to change default softbuttons? Or any hack able to replace ugly launcher tab with simple grid of icons of programs I want to launch directly? Default system with submenus is nice, but to actually run app you have to go through tons of submenus...
you can find infos+files and a link to the customize post here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=468547
customization is pretty much done like in with the original sbp-mobile-shell.
you have to change the xml-files in "qa_layouts.dat" and bitmaps in a vew other files.

Problem is, that there is only tip to app called keyswop, but it changes global softkeys, not the ones used in SPB panel. I wanted to change Recent/Contacts at the bottom of screen to something else...
Any more tips?
