Wisbar vs SPB Mobile Shell - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General
I have been using Torx's iphone theme via WAD3 and WAD. I am fooling around with SPB Mobile Shell, but have not figured out how to customize it as easily as I can with Wisbar stuff via Author mode.
Just curious of opinion on who thinks which one is better and why?

Both applications are completely different. Wisbar wont have animations while switching pages on Desktop. Mobile Shell cannot spread icons the way you want. So choose what is important for you or have both!
In my opinion both are not adviced for Pro WinMo users..
Why wouldn't you advise it? I love my Wisbar and WAD. And recently I've tried SPB Mobile Shell because of the Diamond theme (seems to be the next hype, same way it was with iPhone themes)

I am also trying mobile shell - what is the difference between the Now and Today screens? I am guessing you disable the Today screen by unchecking everything?

I have found that SPB Mobile Shell drains the battery faster than just plain HTC Home, which is really sad as I love the Diamond theme...
If you want animation(mobile shell benefit) on transition pages..wait for WAD2(animation added) to be out..it will beat mobile shell for sure
WAD vs. SPB Shell
WAD is a application replacing your default WM today screen. You have to add the shortcuts to the apps you want (you can make it Finger Friendly).
SPB Shell is as it says a shell around WM so all the shortcuts are available. It's Finger Friendly and has some nice extra stuff in it. It's not skinnable by default (just minor different looks), but some people here at XDA have managed to create some great skins.

Today is the standard WM desktop
Now is a overview page in SPB Shell (with time, weather, appointments, email, sms and missed calls)
Yea, with WAD, and WA3 together, its almost like giving your phone's OS a makeover. I like WAD better but until I finish making a good theme, I'll be using SPB Mobils shell most likely

Using both - WHY - Like the startup screen & easy system settings - and like the menu's of WAD - Maybe someone will develop both in one - and yes, it's like a full makeover ! The Flame does have lots of internal storeage space & a Nvida vid card - Come on xda developers - lets see something in the future

Diamond Style Clock
I looking for a way to get the HTC Diamond style clock on my today screen, similar to the attachment.. I use SPB Mobile shell for shortcuts etc. and do not really want to get rid of it. At the moment I have SPB Time, but that is just a bit boring, I would like to have the Diamond style clock. Is their any way to get this? I have searched for threads to fine HTC Home without any tabs and just the clock, but cannot find a solution to have just the clock. Could any one suggest an application or something to do this.
do you mean that clock style for spb mobile shell? if yes, greatbal has a diamond skin for spb mobile shell with that clock.

Kristoff_sz, thats a nice theme, but I don't want to user HTC Home, as I don't like to use the tabs or notification icons, I use spb mobile shell for this. I have searched if their is a way to get rid of them, the icons and tabs, but cannot find anything on this site on how to do it.

Well, as far as I know, there is an app called Pocket Digital Clock, but its not customizable, and the clock looks like standard one from HTCHome. And I think that there is no method to put just a clock like this on today. Maybe some programs like BatteryStatus, rlToday or HTCHome++ can do that, but i don't know about that kind of option. Try this....!!! Just go to ThrottleLauncher Forums and download the 'ThrottleHtml_alpha' plugin.It's a Diamond-style clock + Weather today plugin with exactly same animations as are on the HTC Diamond phone. Also,I want to mention that it's first development was started by the Flash-King Twolf on this forum. Hope this info could help you find the app you want.
Search RLtoday diamond clock you should get plenty of hits.
if you're looking for an animated one you can use FEWidgets if you're looking for a regular one you can use an rlToday screen i make... search for it. you can also use Manila2D, Battery Status.. all of them have diamondlike clocks.
Skinning SPB Mobile Shell Panel
I wondered if this was possible and it definitely is. It seems that you can not get rid of the Top bar. I used some wvga files and it did change the look but of course it was messed up because of the top bar. I figured it was time to start up a thread for all those lovely people who take the time to skin spb mobile shell.

I am also looking for a way to customize the SPB panel. Cant find anything about it. Only way to make a customized SPB is by installing SPB mobile shell 2.1 and install any WVGA skins on the phone. But i noticed a performance issues when i did that. SPB panel is diffidently utilized for xperia and it runs very fast.
you can customise it via one of the settings screen on the Settings panel however it is pretty basic. Having said that I am fairly impressed with the shell - it is just a shame it is not the full blown mobile panel.
I believe you can customize it the same way you customize spb mobile shell full. U just have to make the images the right sizes. I installed Greatbal's wvga theme but the images were slightly off.
hi, when i go to install the spb shell it tells me that the previous one must be unistalled first. The only other spb i have is the spb panel. If i install the shell will it uninstall the panel?
Yes, it uninstalls the panel, but you can then use the SBP Menu on Panel 1 and on the fish panel also. I currently use it this way, works very well.
Wanted: Today manager
Hi, I disabled TF3D, because I don't like that software for several reasons. But one today screen is not enough. I am not sure, which today manager applikation is "the best": WAD 2 Ultimate Launche 1.2 iLauncher Pocket Plus Homescreen Plusplus Mobile Shell I need about 4 screens. The software should be easy to configure and fast. Any ideas / hints? Regards, Doktor
Well, I am using TF3D with SecondToday. Works great on me, able to switch between two easily. Of course when I am on Secondtoday, I can add SBP Pocket Plus, home+++ plugin easily on my secondtoday screen with other today plugin you want. I tried SBP Mobile Shell 3.01 on my TP2, don't really like, cos it is not works 100% with TP2.
Definetly Ultimate Launcher. BTW the second today doesn't display tray icons

Been using this for a week and really like it.Anyone seen anything any better yet or has other suggestions?
I tried SPB mobile shell but like the look of TF3D on my Imagio better. I just installed a manila2.5 silder (i.e. color) and a colorful taskbar. I have done so much tweaks to this badboy. Cant wait for someone to come up with a manila 2.5 rom to use.
