I'm planning to buy a MDA Compact from T-Mobile here in Austria.
Gaming is important to me - so how is the gaming performance on this device? I've heard, that it's quite bad, because you have less programmeable Hardwarebuttons.
In general, is Magician suitable for Multimedia???
Due to button placement, it's hard to play games with the mini(compact). It feels cramped when I play games that need buttons (i.e. morphgear). but for stylus games, its fine.
Music and Movies though are great and I enjoy listening to MP3s with Mortplayer using my Senhheiser MX550 earphones with a 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter.
I play SkyForce ( Beautiful Graphics ) with Stylus on Mini.
I think it's very well suited for gaming. Usually all games give you the opportunity to select which buttons to use for what operation. I'm playing Tomb Raider, Flux Challenge, Worms, Sky Force, Kevtris and others with no problems. The graphics power also is sufficient. The only real disadvantage it has is, that you can't press two buttons at the same time. That's a real disadvantage for almost all games! Many PDAs (not all) have this problem though.
Button Pressing
Actually, on the imate jam, I found that I can press multiple buttons at the same time. I noticed that I can move using directional pad while firing at the same time. Also, I it seems like the BT gamepad was made for the Jam as it works perfectly!
Ok, maybe you can use one of the buttons while using the DPad but you can't use two directions of the DPad at the same time e.g you can't move up and right at the same time - very annoying for action games.
I didn't think about that. Most of my old school games work great. I would suggest you get the BT pad when the price goes down. You will not regret it!
For stylus+button game no problem such as skyforce, atomic cannon and my favourite age of empire.

Can you tell me how to change the controls on the mda compact when playing tomb raider. I can't work out how to save a game as the MDA has insufficient buttons. Many thanks.

Gaming is great on the Jam!
I play loads (and i mean, loads of games) including Tombraider, Worms World Party, Age Of Empires, Solitaire , Warfare Inf, Rayman Ultimate, Mini Jetfight and some other games.
All are very easy to play IMO. Most games don't require more then the DPAD and Calender/Contacts buttons. Most games use stylus control.
The best device to run games is on Magician compared to xda I, II and IIs or IIi.
im a new owner of diamond 2 but i cant play games without d pad
i didnt think about that before i bought the phone...
of course games is not the main issue that i bought the phone
but what do you do ?
thanks
Most games for Topaz either use on screen buttons or the GSensor to control.
why dont you get a bluetooth keyboard? i've tried playing games with that and it works fine
Hi, in Gt Racing Free+ HD the steering is all jerky it cant even hold straight and the steering wheel moves from side to side alot, can someone with a GS2 please see it this also happens for them?
Im using version 1.2.4 on Stock Android 2.3.3
go to the options within the game and reduce the steering sensitivity. worked fine for me.
i did still hasnt worked! the steering is still all jerky and the wheel using the accelorometer doesnt hold still!
what did u reduce it 2 tho? iv done all between 0 and 100!
some cars are worse then others...
I had the note connected to TV last night and attempted to play Wind Up Knight with a Phonejoy - there is already lag using phonejoy on this game (obvious because the on screen soft buttons light up when pressed) but the connection to TV introduced a very noticable lag that made the game unplayable.
The weird thing is I hadn't noticed this whilst playing Medievil on FPSE.
Can't sayI'm overly impressed with the phonejoy as the analog sticks seem to work more like "zoned" digital controls rather than true analog.
Is this down to the MHL adaptor I've got?
It's one of the small box jobs with short micro usb lead and hdmi socket as opposed to the all in one leads that have the HDMI cable already built in.
Would a non stock ROM (i.e. Cyanogen) have any effect on HDMI lag?
I too get a good amount of lag when playing SuperGnes on my tv. Hopefully someone knows how to fix this.

Are you running GB or ICS? I've found that the HDMI lag has largely disappeared on ICS, presumably due to ICS's better support of hardware emulation on its dual-core chipset. Also, I used to use Phonejoy before I rooted my phone. Afterwards, I switched to SixAxis and I've found that the response rate is much faster than it was when Phonejoy was connected via Bluez-IME.
I'm running Samsung stock ICS 4.0.3 at the moment.
Samsung 4.0.3 seems very glitchy overall and appears to have introduced a new feature to my phone called "daydreaming"
Honestly sometimes it takes an age to snap out of it...
Gonna try and kill two birds with one stone.
I downgraded to 4.1.2 . Now Android keeps making a message pop up asking me to update. Problem is, if I'm playing an emulator it will disconnect the bluetooth controller so it's a real problem. How can I make it stop?
My second issue. I'm using WiimoteController app, it works great on the emulators. Only problem, it doesn't connect sensitivity. It doesn't matter if you push it a little, it still goes full motion. Is there any way to incorporate so that the sensitivity is in place? Because it makes certain games unplayable without the ability to use t.
Thanks guys.
