Problem with answering calls - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV Themes and Apps

is there an application that allows you to do something other than just touch the screen to answer a call? Maybe something like the iphone slide.
countless times i have answered calls i didn't want to answer or wasnt in a situation to answer just by putting my hand in my pocket to get the phone out

Might be worth having a read thru http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=414731

5 secs delay between a connection...

... and hearing something? No matter if i'm answering or making a call, there's 5 seconds silence. So you have to press the button and lead your phone to your ear rather slowly and speak then. And if someone answers the phone quickly, you might miss the opening "Hello". How ANNOYING is that?
Presumably there's no fix for that?
blimey what coincidence!!
i was going to posta topic of exactly the same problem, thanks god im not the only one then!!
is there no solution to this problem then?
i have found to not open the device and just use the answer button on the side and speaking while the device is closed in laptop mode, only bugger is that you cant see whos calling!

on this thread it mentions a 7 second delay problem, maybe this is the solution!
i have no confidence in myself to perform such major operiotns like changing roms etc so might try the freeware software first!

vibrate b4 answer

hi all
anybody can tell me which tool we used on some ROMs makes the phone vibrate b4 the other part answer it ?
I'm not sure if i entirely understand your question but go to start>settings>phone and change the setting to vibrate then ring.
This has nothing to do with Hermes Mobile 6 so i'm moving it to the regular Hermes forum.
I think he means when the call gets connected, it does a quick vibrate to alert you just in case you haven't got the phone against your ear.
My Xperia does it and it's very useful to have.
Ah it's a feature of the last ROM with MBVarian OpalCanvas dialer I was using. It's pretty handy so that you don't have to have the phone to your ear to wait for somebody to pick up. Your phone vibrates briefly when the phone is answered at the other end.
You should be able to get it by installing the latest OpalCanvas dialer.

HD2 Dropping calls

Hi guys, this is my first post - very exciting.
I've had the HD2 for 3 weeks now and I love it. The only issue I have is with it dropping calls. I don't think it handles the handover from cell to cell very well but that's not my main issue as it happened from time to time on other phones too. My main query is with the clever accelerometer related functions. According to the manual, during a call if you put it face down it activates the speaker. Mine just ends the call. I think that it is getting confused during calls if I move and cutting me off. Done two hard resets but no joy. Does anyone know how to disable the function either through settings or registry?
I've looked around for quite a while on the forum and can't find what I'm looking for. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Cheers
Dan
PS It has stock O2 ROM, BSB tweaks, etc

In terms of dropping calls, it is usually due to the handover sequence between cellsites, rather than the handset itself.
I'm guessing you are on O2? If so, PM me your location and I'll get my "inside contact" to take a look at any outstanding issues there.
I must admit, I've not used that accelerometer feature yet, but I have turned it on. (Under Settings -> Sound & Display -> Ring and Notifications)
Erm.. This might sound like a dumb post but I was having problems with call disconnection whilst in the middle of calls. I discovered the problem - I'm LEFT HANDED!
When I used the device I held it in my right hand and type/operate with my left. When I held the phone to my right ear to have a conversation I was occasionaly touching my cheek with the call-end button and that's how I was getting repeated disconnections - true story.
I am now a practicing ambidextarian...
Thanks for getting back so quickly guys
a practicing ambidextarian eh............ I wish I could breathe underwater! (sorry I couldn't resist it)
I don't think I'm cutting off the call through contact with the screen all the time though but yes I have done it more than once!
Thanks for the info rp-x1. I'm in Settings -> Sound & Display -> Ring and Notifications and the only thing that looks relevant is the 'Quiet ring on pickup' option and I'm not sure it's related. For instance, I got a call early yesterday morning and answered the call in bed. When the wife elbowed me and I turned on my side the phone assumed I was putting it face down and ended the call. I'm looking to disable this function.
Dropping Phone calls even in locked screen state
I am also dropping a alot of calls . Not sure if it is related to face down as the phone is always upright after answring a call. May be the call end button.
Having said that the phone was locked when I received a call today. I moved the slider to answer said "hello", then after 3 seconds it disconnected.
Any ideas?
Thanks
edit: Seems like a proxomity sensor issue, judging by other threads. Will continue to search for a fix/workaround.
htc hd2 dropping calls
Hi everyone,
I have a htc hd2 since 1/2011, love the phone BUT i HATE the dropping calls problem!! Please help. also will upgrade to windows 7 help with this problem.
I hardly use the phone to make calls, so I'm not sure if the calls dropping in the past is any relation, but as stated by Danno320, according to the manual ( i went back looking for this ), turning the phone face-down will activate speakerphone.
This is so exciting... so I tried it a few times.
All it did was to disconnect the calls.
I wonder if the action really does turn the speakerphone on.
Anyone who's tried and succeeded?
I also want to know if there's a solution to this now that I know my phone isn't functioning like what the manual said it should be...

[Q] Replace incoming call screen (andrd sense)

Hy guys, i'm really sick of the slide to answer sense screen that doesn't make any sense at all!
when the screen is off and a call comes in, it is a 99% chance that my pocket will answer or decline that call.
i did figure out a (sort of..) solution, by installing a little app that brings up a buttoned screen for answering\declining a call even when the phone is locked and a call comes in.
but since i installed it i started having issues with robot voice\flicking incall sounds, and other malfunctions SO i decided to reinstall android from fresh, and so this issue persists - i cannot answer a call normally when phone is in pocket.
i know this is NOT an issue only i'm experiencing, isn't there any way of replacing that stupid slider with another incoming answer\decline screen? maybe porting from another device? i'm certainly not a chef, and don't know my way around the android kitchen, but it just sounds really weird that there isn't a simple solution to this.. maybe replace the files associated with the slide answering screen.. i don't know..
I'm sorry if this came out feeling like someone is being accused, i'm just blowing off some steam here fellas..
if anything at all - i appreciate each and every one of you for an awesome job of cooking\testing\sharing\asking\answering\being simply the coolest developers gang on the net.
I am 100 % with you on this. The call answering thingie drives me crazy.. I mean, did htc even betatest this slider?! :/
Damn ppl, i like that slide to answer/reject call screen alot.. )

"answer me" feature

I potentially really like the idea of the phone answering by bringing in to your ear. On my phone, though, I have to bring it my ear and then speak something before it answers and then I have to say hello again for the person calling to hear me. Is that how it works for everyone?
I've use it a few times and that's my experience as well.
a nice feature is to have your phone vibrate when the call is answered, that way you know when to say hello, there is a setting for that.
