Special applications for WM 2003 devices ( bug and Fix )

did any of you guys and gals XDA II, MDA II, Qtek 2020 and i-mate Pocket PC owners noticed that after few days of use of your device it becomes slow in showing the caller's names even though it is stored in the contcats list. If so here is the fix.
The Pocket PC 2003 OS appears to have a bug that can slow down the performance of a Pocket PC device, and can potentially cause ActiveSync delays. It has been identified that after every soft-reset of your device, a few extra "Notification Events" are added to the Notification Event Database on your system (This database holds system notifications such as alarms, timed events, etc.). After several soft-resets, a device can have several hundreds of extra notification events that can reduce the performance of a device
The offending notifications are labeled "SSTimeChange" and "conmgr.exe". Since the developers of these great tools did a lot of soft-resetting when they develop their software, and they discovered one of their 2003 devices to have over 600 notification events (when it should only have 50!).
The two applications below which was developed by scarybearsoftware will allow you to examine your system for these "extra" notification events, and will allow you to clear them from your system. they provide both utilities for free, for general public use.
Version 1.4 of Notification Checker will also remove the "IA_Caller_ID.exe" events from the Notification Event Database that seem to be duplicated on the Pocket PC phone-based devices. Only those events associated with the "RunAppAfterRestore" event status will be removed.
This application will display all the notification events in the system's database and will give you a total count of events. You will have an option to clear out all the "SSTimeChange", "conmgr.exe", and "IA_Caller_ID.exe" events from your database and get a new count, or create a log file of all the events.

Notification Clear Fix
This application will install in your "/Windows/startup" folder, and will be executed after every soft-reset of your device. This will ensure that the offending events described previously will not be present in your system's notification event database. This is the best way to clear out these events automatically.

running check notifications, and it starts up ok, but the busy cursor icon is displayed, and stays forever. It doesnt seem to ever complete looking for whatever it is looking for?
In the background i can see about 8 events listed.
Is it working for anyone?

worked 4 me, maybe u have SO many events, they crashed the program :?

well on starting the checker, i only see about 6 events. I installed the one that runs at boot time, and that hasnt caused any probs.

The groups will be created by the software himself, by reading data from contacts!
If you have never done this or why you had not needed, when entering a new card in the outlook contacts you can define the group of contact. In Outlook 2007, you can find the button "categorizes" (or something similar, I have italian edition) with predefined fields (colors) but you can add it to your discretion, such as friends, work, restaurants, etc.

Nice to see that you enjoy my application. Who made the Italian resources? I just want to know if it is OK that I include it my comming releases. The next version will probably support adding new categories to the outlook database, so I will need a new resource.dll for that.

I have 900+ Categories in my Contacts and it seems this program is not working on my phone. Please help.

can we select other phone no's saved on other fields not in the mobile fields, cause i have many of friends have 2 mobile phones and sometimes i need to gruop sms to the other mobiles they use.

I have a probelm with WM6.1 when the contact is a memeber in more than one category it only appear when it i select the first categyory listed in the contact and is not listed when i select it in the other categories.

Where are the messages I send with GroupsSMS stored? I don't find them in "send"

This make this nice utility even better.

I have the latest GroupSMS installed but seem to be having some issues.
I'm using this with my Treo 750. Whenever I select a category, it takes me to the New Message where you type the message. However, it only shows 1 contact and when I highlight that contact it shows ALL the numbers of the people in the category under 1 person (the first person in the category).
When I try to send it, i get the following message:
"An address doesn't look like a valid phone number or e-mail address. Send the message anyway?"
If i click yes, try to send, it fails. I know i have the contacts right because I can send the message when I individually add the contact but just not through GroupSMS.
Anyone know any resolutions?

I have some early questions though...does the receiver need the BaselsMsgPainter installed on their device to see it properly? If not, how do more simplier phones (say like a Moto Razr) see the message?

We at MonkeyUpdates appreciate the use and support from all users. Now to the question: Yes, one must have BaselsMsgPainter installed on the device to see the messages. This is a first release. If we get alot of requests then we'll make BaselsMsgPainter for other platforms. I myself are thinking of making a copy for the Symbian platform, but still it's a thought!

It works,
It is suitable for people who have Free/Unlimited SMS service,
Because a simple pattern will cost 5 or more messages.

I'm sorry to say that it is true .. In Sweden, SMS is free if you have "Comviq".. Most of our softwares are made for the people that have Unlimited/Free SMS, but don't really know how to "spend" or what to do with them.

SMS program that will show full thread?

The built in messaging in WM only shows so many messages per page. You have to keep clicking on the "older" link to keep moving through the messages. So I'm wondering if there are any SMS managers, etc. that will show the entire thread on one page. Also, show the time along with the date?

I too would like to know this answer for our kaisers and tilt 2's. However, i am suspecting it would slow things down a bit, but am willing to see what the difference is. Also the date and time would be nice

thats what i m looking for as well, the SMS client and build in dialer are the only cons for me with this phone

Mine shows the time on some, and the date on others, but never both on all messages. Makes no sense to me

not sure if this is what you were trying to see but if you go in to the contact individually it shows your entire conversation =)

Try resco contact manager. It incorporates nicely but I don't think it will be what you completely want because the rhodium is a nice device with great graphics. For wm 6.1 it was a great addition, but check it out.

Yeah, the date and time show up if it is the SMS was received in the current day. The problem is if you backup your phone and then restore it, like through myphone.microsoft.com, it loses track of the order.
The HTC version does show the whole thread at once, with dates and times but you can't export the thread like you can in the WM threading, which I do by just doing a select all, copy, paste to word, save.
I guess what I'm really trying to get at, is the ability to archive conversations as it appears in threading mode.

Hello everyone, I'm pleased to present my new app (available for free on Google Play Store): Open That URL!
OTU is a client-alike application to speed up file shared with the great app Fast File Transfer but in what way? Actually by downloading the file for you! In this first release, it opens the browser, but I plan on just launching download intent (I'm working on it right while I'm writing) so that, together with the above mentioned software, you can share your files easily and really fast.
This software is intended for those devices that are not equipped with NFC Chips, but it's compatible with every Android from FroYo 2.2 and above.

First of all THANKS for working to add features for FFT, And no offending.
The main success of FFT is other end device does not need to install FFT to download files, just opening browser and entering IP address every time is a little headache, present the FFT developer is working on those to make it easy for transfer.
So if you could also think regarding that, it would be nice.
What I say is to think on how to assist FFT to easily receive files on other end device without installing the app.
My opinion is just other end device just need a password to receive file that show in sending device, just like bluetooth pairing

Hello mate,
no offense at all What I thought when developing this little help is the fact that I wanted something to launch directly from my lockscreen and that's all I too think FFT is a great app, and I'm pretty convinced that if my application is useless for most of people (those with NFC for instance), they will at least know FFT and keep it, so I think it's not that bad to have some more visiblity
Anyway, my app does not add any feature to Fast File Transfer, I'm just downloading from a fixed location, no less and no more
I hope nobody gets disappointed by my answer, and if, in any way I offended you, I apologize, since I wasn't meant to be rude
