Hi everyone!
I got myself a nice shining Diamond last week, and I wasn't very pleased with the battery icon and the G, H, E and 3G icons in the taskbar. That allied with the fact that i can't get the percentage value for the battery in the power settings, lead me to create something that would look a bit better, and give me more accuracy about the battery.
So here it is! My first contribution to the Diamond community (it may also apply to Raphael).

If your device is running an official ROM you'll will also have to install the sdkcerts.cab for this to work (it's possible that some cooked ROMs may need this as well).
Enjoy!!
[EDIT2]
I wasn't able to create a working cab to provide an automated installation(since it's replacing a system file, the cab may need a setup.dll file to make it fully work).
However I'm providing a manual installation. It's a bit more work but I think it's worth it.
Download FInix_VGA_Battery_and_Network_Icons_DLL_and_REG.zip.
Inside you'll find the phcanOverbmp.dll, which you have to copy to Windows folder in your device (using a file explorer like Total Commander or Resco explorer), and FInix VGA Battery and Network Icons.reg which you have to import with a registry editor in your device (if you don't have one, you can use Dotfred taskmanager with registry editor included).
After this, restart your device to apply the changes.
I'm sorry for all the trouble.
On further note, all Chefs are welcome to cook it into your ROMs if you find it usefull. (Credits will be appreciated )
[EDIT 3]
Added cab installation thanks to mclein
FInixNOverBattery.cab
[EDIT 4]
Added battery icons only dll for those of you that don't like the network icons.
I've uploaded a cab and a zip version, just in case the cab doesn't work.
Someone asked about making the font bigger. Not a possibility using that font, because i only have a 32 pixel width to work on. And I really like it how it is.
How to make your own set of Battery Icons:
You'd need some programs, and of course, the dll.
Unsigner -to remove the digital signature from the dll.
Reshack / PE Explorer / Restorator - resource editor to extract/replace the icons inside the dll
iconFX or any other icon editor (GIMP can also handle .ico files) - to edit/create icons
Multiple file Signer - to digitally re-sign the finished dll.
That's it!
Uninstalling:
After removing my customized dll, to fully uninstall and have the old battery icon back you just have to edit the following reg entry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\security\ResOver\Bitmaps]
"BatteryIconLevels"=dword:65 (hexadecimal) or 101 (decimal) -> dword:15 (hexadecimal) or 21 (decimal)
Battery Icons from other users:

Hello Guys,

Hi - i know that there is a cab file in one of the Extended Roms for the Hermes. If you look on the Hermes Wiki and look at the Extended Roms section you should find it there.
Hello!
I probably will not know which file to download...hahaha!
Can you help?
Thanks!

Try here
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Hermes/Extended_ROMs/HTC_TyTN_1.18.255.105_ExtROM_WWE.zip
Run the P_Generic_UI.CAB (This contains the Green UI for the Wireless Manager)
Run MT_PC_Hermes_Qtek_WWE_060621.CAB (This contains the Green HTC TyTN UI for Phone Dialer and Smart Dialer)
Good luck
P_Generic_UI.CAB works fine on the Prophet. Comm Manager looks brilliant.
I now have the green HTC today theme, the WMP10 green theme and the Comm Manager theme.
I'll try the MT_PC_Hermes_Qtek_WWE_060621.CAB and let you know how it goes. [edit: IT WORKS TOO!]
Can't get it done
When I put P_Generic_UI.CAB in the temp folder and I run the
cab it extract 4 files:
1. ComManager.exe
2. Default.htm
3. Default1.gif
4. Space.gif
Where must I put these files ?????
Or do I have to run the cab file from another place ???
Please help.

Perhaps you would also be interested in some nice dialer skins. Don't forget to read the instructions on top of the page
Have this site in my bookmarks for quite some time now, might be worth checking out. Although it doesn't include the commanager etc.
Personally I like this dialer more than the default one.
Code:
http://www.paulya.com/dialerskins.htm
Don't think he will mind placing the link here, but if its a problem I'll remove it.
Thanks PaulyA!
cpootjes,
What you need to do is copy the cab file to your pocket pc and click on it. It will install automatically.
The dialer is no problem, altough It doens't have the SmartDial yet..
But the Comm Manager doensn't work for me, it shows "Comm Manager supports 7 functions at most!".
Anybody any idea?
My current data:
AKU: AKU2.3
Language: WWE
ROM: AKU2.3 Stable&Fast edition
To make a contribution to this "project" I've attached the Green skin for the Windows Media player
comm manager error
how to uninstall those files they don't show in the "remove programs"-program and after i installed the prog it ****ed up my device i can't open comm manager (=> error: Comm Manager supports 7 functions at most!),

Looks like my post! Just one above yours
i know i didn't see yours
Have the same problem after installing - really miss my SmartDialing!
Any way to get it back?
(When looking in the CAB, it seems to contain graphics for smartdial, so it should be supported..)
ok i found a way to fix the comm manager, download ftp://xda:[email protected]/Hermes/Extended_ROMs/JASJAM_1.31.305.103_ExtROM_Telstra.zip and run "Default_PP_Comm_Manager_10300.cab" and your comm manager is back blue (worked for me)
Didn't get any error msg when trying to install the green Comm Manager, the installation was "successful".
But, it did not change my Comm Manager at all..
Really hope someone finds a solution for bringing back smartdial, as I really want it (without hard resetting)!
EDIT: After deleting the files phcanhtc.dll, phcanOverbmp.dll, phcanrc.dll and phcanrc.dll.0409.mui in the Windows folder I got it working with smartdial.
Though, I lost the green security pad - will continue to investigate..
Be sure to backup the files before deleting them, the phone will try to restore them with the original ones, but just in case - take a backup!
I've just installed the latest Qtek ROM with AKU 2.20.
After that I was busy creating a kind of HTC Green Conversion Pack
What does it do:
- new splashscreen
- replace Comm Manager (probably only for the 7 button's version of the Comm Manager!)
- remove carrier logo from the dialpad
- replace dialer (no smartdialer yet!)
- puts HTC Green today theme in Windows folder
- installs Windows Media Player Green Theme (have to select it yourself though!)
- PocketInformant theme is standard "Nature Color Theme" therefore it's not included.

(blue) mentioned above. So you can say it's just a Beta
Hope you'll like it..
Thanks a lot, mccune!
Nice work...
I've found how to modify the background of the "Menu".
First find the file Launcher.exe.T1.skin in \windows.
Then you must copy the file to your PC and open it (I've used Reshacker).
Then replace the images BMP No 212, 214 (for portrait mode) and No 213 and 215 (for landscape mode) with other bitmap images of the size respectively 240x374 and 400x214.
Finally overwrite it in \windows with Resco Explorer (or similar).
This is mine (as per attechet file)

UPDATE 6 october : Changed the icons. See post n. 20
Really great work, thanks
That's fantastic! Will give it a go later.
If theres a way to change the font color, it will be great !!
Is there also a way to change the collor off the bottem taskbar?
For those who are curious, these are some of the png images hidden in the Launcher.exe.T1.skin file (extracted on a mac with filejuicer and made a screenshot of the generated HTML file)
That's cool. Which program can I use for PC? And I managed to change the background but I'm still looking into changing the font colour.

Doesn't ResHacker allow you to extract or replace the menu png files as well?
No, for the PNGs, all I see is Hex code. I can only replace the Bitmaps.
Anyway thanks to the thread at MoDaCo I managed to find "secstresSilver96.dll" and "secstresBlack96.dll" in \Windows\ and all I did was rename it to "secstres96.dll" on my PC and using Resco Explorer or TotalCmd copy it back to the device and reselect Samsung Today 2 in the Today items and its done, you have a new Today menu, and you can change the fonts colour under settings\theme.

You could try the 30 day trial version of resource tuner it supports png files as well:

BTW the font color in the theme settings doesn't apply to the samsung main menu unfortunatelly
Hi,
is there a way to put other program shortcuts you want onto the menu or in exchange with other programs that you do not or seldom use?
Thank You!
Wow! This really works for my omnia!
It'll be perfect if someone can work out a way to change the font colors too
Hope someone can figure out this very soon!
Cheers!
Ok, I've done the whole procedure up to the last step. Resco tells me that the file "Launcher.exe.T1.skin" is in ROM and I could damage the phone by trying to overwrite the file???
Am I to understand that in order for this to work one needs to have it burned in a modified ROM ???
Haven't played with this burning ROM stuff so not sure if my reasoning is right? I have the I2 ROM version so no need until now to change it.....
Thanks
I suggest you to copy the original file Launcher.exe.T1.skin somewhere in My Storage and then safely overwrite the file that Resco indicates be a ROM file. It's normal that there is this alert.
Nop! Tried that and Resco tells me it couldn't overwrite because the file already exists. So it IS in the ROM..... Well, one day I'll update my ROM and change this file at the same time. Right now I see too many people loosing their Omnia trying to burn new ROM versions. But thanks anyway.

this themes/skin changing only icons on today screen , main menu background its still white and icons its still color check this video in 04:21 main menu its black and all icon its white or grey i trying do it same effect
Lol, you have the icons, now you just need to search for a 240x400 black background, that's not hard to find.
Edit : Oops sorry, i understand that what you want, you want to change the menu icons and the background, not change the today screen.
Than, i think you need to extract and edit the menu icons on photoshop, or somthing like that, because the menu icons not available with the same look of the today icons.
Update: using PE Explorer I managed to change the icons. I attach the file with the icons changed and I thank my friend Duncan for the support.
I attach the new file I've used as for screenshot

No they wont.

not true.
Total Commander will overwrite the original manila files without prompted. if you already have modded icons then it will ask to overwrite (hence what i said above)
so in other words, the original file WILL get replaced.
HOWEVER, you should not worry.if you delete those manila files from the windows directory, the ROM will automatically restore the original file.
i only got 2 of the 8 icons in landscape mode, not sure why? Oso pls advise how I can get the calendar tab.
sounds weird..
try disabling tf3d first and copy the files again.
enable tf3d again...
if that doesnt work, try a soft reset.
please let me know if this worked..
It work now as I hv installed the vodafone red theme previously. and now I resintalled bk to default. Thanks again. I can installed the call history and calendar but it doesn't appear your icons. Please advise
i am assuming that you installed the call history and calender after you installed my icons
That would lead to my files for CH and calender being replaced by the standard icons
So in other words:
if you have Call history & Calender ALREADY installed:
Just copy paste my files
or
if you want call history and my icons, install call history first and install my icons afterwards
Tell me if this worked for you
Yup, it works again. I also add the comm tab. how to change the icon?
can you give the link to comm tab topic?
if i know which manila file is responsible for those icons i can try to make some for you
I think it is 42d367fd_manila...but I dun know how to change the icon with ur other invention
i found the 2nd one..
1e439536_manila - Tray icon
42d367fd_manila - Hero icon
instructions: same as the above icons.
I included a backup of the files just in case
Let me know how it works and if you like the icon
EDIT: PROCEED WITH CAUTION. POSSIBLE PROBLEMS..THIS POST WILL BE UPDATED WHEN IT IS KNOWN FOR SURE
Very nice, my friend. but i realize u have 2 files with same name, which one I should copy to the window dir?

so i needs to make if <=99% because next instruction was special for 100%,
because 100% means finishing of charging...
please make this the main topic, I don't understand why there is another thread about this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3755522#post3755522
doesn't work for me, i'm running gtrab's custom windows mobile 6.5 rom =/

If you are using CUSTOM ROM and it doesn't work you can upload battery.dll here, also with battdrvr.dll. I'll take a look.
If you CAN'T DELETE driver you must just RENAME it and make soft reset.

Yes, it's only for 6.1.
Looks cool I'll give it a try.
Thanks very much for the new taskbar, it looks very nice installed on my diamond, I just extracted the cab and swapped the start icon for my own.

That's because you haven't installed SDKCerts.
Download here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=123439&d=1224523140
EDIT: Remember to uninstall the taskbar before you install SDKCerts. Install SDKCerts and then the taskbar.

thanks... but i think i need number 4....althout i cant find it
1. Unistall any taskbar you have installed previously.
2. Install sdkcerts and soft reset (visit my thread for this file)
3. Install my taskbar and soft reset
4. Install nuepowerdriver and soft reset (once again visit my thread for this file.)
edit: nuepowerdriver its only for cdma....going to do every thing again...cause problem isnt solved
Number 4 is only for CDMA devices and not needed in this taskbar.
GRRRRR...
in first time i made a mistake cause i had tsowen taskbar 4, and unistalled it but forgot install sdkcerts and installed your version!
now i unistalled all...and done it right but problem still continues
Make sure your registry says the following:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\security\ResOver\Bitmaps]
"BatteryIconLevels"=dword:65 (Hex) or 101 (Dec)
"BatteryIconIdStart"=dword:3e9 (Hex) or 1001 (Dec)
"BaseDll"="phcanOverbmp.dll"
"BaseId"=dword:0

thanks a lot! it's solved...ALELUIA
had to edit: BatteryIconLevels"=dword:65 (Hex) or 101 (Dec)
I installed your taskbar and found the following issues: the battery icon did not change, the start menu was changed back to the original wm 6.1.
Before you ask yes I did install sdkcert first.
Uninstalled and the new start menu is back (but so are the old boring icons)
Otherwise it looked good. Just for my understanding what is the difference between your mod and the original tsowen?

Some new icons like WiFi, start icon, new sms, multi alert, bluetooth and msn
EDIT: And the issue you got may be cuz of your ROM (perhaps Vodafone's ROM?) or your language. This is mainly to English devices but should work on any language (I got Swedish and it works flawless). If you know how, go into your \Windows and scroll down to Shellres and see what files you got there (Shellres.192.dll and all those). Post all names on them here please.
The ROM is Yozgatg's GEN.Y and it is in english.
Are those files hidden? I do not have total commander here but I see the a file called shellresapps.dll.0409.mui

I believe they are hidden, and I think the ROM you're using may be the issue here.
Ok, could be the ROM I'm using but is probably the most popular ever since the diamond came out
