Photo Contacts not working!

Hey all,
Can anyone tell me if they were able to fix the photo contacs app in imate/xdaII ???
Plus does anybody know about pocketNav for xdaII?

this is known issue on i-mate and it's been fixed below find the link if you want to download the fix file

just download it and copy it to the PPC on storage directory and apply it within the PPC.
btw this will wipe off all data on your device so it's recommended to backup your data before you apply this batch and when done you need to do hard reset.

well I managed to fix any probs I had which pic caller id by moving O2active from the startup menu, Haven't deleted it just didn't want it starting up all the time.
Cleared a few other anomolies up as well.

Sorry to dig up an old thread. I found this by using search.
I have an i-mate XDA2 clone. I installed the patch above and performed a hard reset. OK - caller ID seems to work now. Incoming calls have a name and a picture.
However, when I look at "received calls" it only displays the phone number with no name.
Is there a more recent patch that fixes this?

Since you don't state your ROM version and so on, I think you might be better of upgrading the rom of your device.
I've not read about any problems on that. As soon as the phone picks the Number who is calling, it associates that to the contact and it's photo ID and name. That is then logged onto the call history.
Be sure you look at the correct place, Call history has multiple entries for incoming, outgoing and missed calls, and an option to see them all, maybe you are looking at the wrong list?

Is there any replacement for Caller ID/Photo Contacts? I think it's lousy and slow.. Already lost all my pictures once

Apparently not...

I'm currently using PocketX PhotoContacts and it works, but it's not great. I want a program where I can assign a picture I've taken with the camera without having to resize it on my computer first, as you do with CallerID. Maybe they will make that happen in the next version.

Edit: Realized that v1.1 has this.

actually for me, CallerID works well except tt each time I hard-reset (and I do it pretty frequent ) the linkage between all the contacts and the photos are gone.
anyway to restore these information? I notice that each time a assignment is done, there's a file created in the ppc. if anybody knows the content and the structure of the file, I can write some program to backup and restore them!

[HELP] Ringo doesnt ring properly!!

i am using ringo to assign indvidual tones to my contacts but i have a problem..sometimes when my phone rings i hear a very low ringtone..infact most of the time. its not for a specific caller but for almost all..as i have just assigned 2 tones to 2 callers..(tried removing them also..still problem exists) Tried re-installing still no use..i hope this doesnt have anything to do with WA and WAD..or tweaks2k2.net
Please help..

wm5 has its own contact ringtone program inbuilt, why use another non tested program?
I can only presume that you dont have a universal and are therefor posting in the wrong area.

Fire Butice, i do know that window has its own ringtone assigning program but i am using this software basicaly to assign individual SMS TONES.. n hence use this utility for contacts also..

any 1 facing the same problem..please help..

do not use Ringo...
try photocontacts or Mort Ring...

Do the ring tones you want to use work OK in Media Player.
I have a similar problem with my O2 XDA Exec and someone told me to run the following cab file in the extended rom and this fixed it perfectly.
Enable_VT_RTPlugin_0727_2_signed.CAB

Yes, they do..so downloading this cab file would solve the problem. Ill try it then.. BTW where can i find this cab file?

My problem is when assign mp3 tone for sms, it dont play the whole song... only like 3-5 seconds... why?

messaging contacts in SIM

hey everyone
i'm new to this forum, have read around and found alot of useful info about the tytn.
but there are two issues i havent seen anyone talk about on this or may be its just me.
first, i cant seem to find an option to text message contacts that are saved in my SIM. Can you not message contacts in your SIM? or am i doing something wrong here?
Secondly, how do i set my ringtone as the alarm tone as well? because the sounds for alarm are too short and i need someting that will play for a while.
can anyone help me out with these ? any help will be appreciated. Thank You in advance

For the alarm tone, you need to copy a .wav file to the WINDOWS folder of you device. It should then show up in the drop down menu on the alarm page.
Unfortunately, you can only use .wav files and not .mp3. I've also noticed that files larger than 30kb wont play which means the tones would be short.

oh ok.. i tried to put .mp3 file in the windows because i noticed the alarm tones are there but i did not see it when i was setting the alarm so i guess it should be .wav and no more than 30kb i guess?

is there a way set different tones for receiving a text message and different tone for receiving a call? i did not see an option for that
also about text messaging.. i cant see an option of texting a contact if they're saved in my sim.. is there a way around it?

when you open contacts and select a sim contact it asks you do either to make a call or send a text

thanx for the info.. i put a .wav file into windows folder and the size was 798kb and it worked
figured out everythin except messaging sim contacts..
i go in contacts.. there are no contacts so i go into menu .. sim manager.. and go into menu .. no option of text messaging.. i even keep the scroll wheel pressed on a contact and only options are to edit, delete or call.. etc but no text messaging.. so i'm guessing the contacts have to saved on the phone !?

You're not the only one, I had the same Issue with my SIM contacts and text messaging also
Spent HOURS on the phone arguing with the iMate Support Helpdesk guys who all use the same stock-standard response "Have you soft-reset? Try a hard reset? I know you say you've done it but do it now while Im on the phone? Didnt work? I dont know then?"
Problem no longer exists with WM6, I also made a thread on a local forum:

Unfortunately I dont think they're about to start patching WM5 for us, so I figured it was time to go back to WM6 again (Using Schaps 4.30 this time), and so far so good... pics up my SIM contacts fine in messagins now!

How to send a Photo via Bluetooth??

Hi,
I cannot seem to find how to send photo via bluetooth to another phone, if you open up the photo and choose the send icon you only have via Mail, Message, or Facebook?

you are right 100%. the only way you can send it by bluetooth is by going into explorer and going into the actual folder where the pic is and then you have an option to send file by bluetooth otherwise you can not do it in sense...which does not make sense

You can do it from the "Pictures & videos" app, which is better than using file explorer, as you can send whilst browsing thumbnails, instead of just filenames.
Alternatively, there's a picture viewer by Resco that allows you to send via bluetooth.

also found a way to use the bluetooth app found in all settings but it is a bit clumsy and requires you to know the name of the file

there is also another way it can be done but not convenient at all...to go through bluetooth settings and find the paitring device and in file transfer pick the file you wish to send...but it is too much hassle that way

Der is an easier way use picture & video the one dats in the multimedia folder

Yeah, I totally agree. I wouldn't be suprised to see a hotfix for this at some point. It's hardly a deal-breaker, so it's the kind of thing HTC tend to fix
