How do you guys send your picture/video messages?
I always have to copy the number down from who I want to send it to in contacts and pasted it in the to field.
Is there not a simpler way to select who you want to send a picture/video message to?

I think it depends on the SMS/MMS software you use. There might be a version of Arcsoft that should work with your Altel. I am on Verizon and it seems to be integrated with several of my apps like SPB Mobile Shell and PocketInformant. Hopefully other Altel users can help you here.

In my opinion the best one so far is sMMS. search for it here or at http://www.ppcgeeks.com
sMMS is very good.
U can also use email if you know what carrier is at the other end:
For other Sprint users, [email protected]
For Verizon users, [email protected]
For T-Mobile users, [email protected]
For Cingular users, [email protected]

i know there is an app that pranks the user...you just open it up and it *PRETENDS TO BRICK YOU DEVICE* AND THE ONLY WAY it will "work" again is by "scanning" the origional phone owners thumbprint...its pretty funny haha
If your wanting to spam the crap out of them then theres sms bomber and sms barrage. Let me know if you need a link.
I want man.
Because my friends send more empty msg for me.

there's a site for that, works pretty well too, unregistered get 10 sms, registered gets 50, and donators get lots more.

I've found the voice recorder files, and I've been able to get them off the phone, but using Astro I can't seem to find any place obvious where my voicemails (using sprint visual voicemail) are.
I have some voicemails that I would really like to be able to save off the phone.
Any ideas?

I don't have any so I can't check but I believe that smithmicro makes our visual voicemail.
Check: /data/data/com.smithmicro.DM/
But I have no clue if it's actually even stored on the phone. It might not be. Could test that theory by getting a voicemail then restoring the phone and setting up voicemail again and seeing if it's still there. If not then check out the .log and .xml files in that folder and see if they point to a location.
Or the other option would be to tar up your whole /data/ directory, get a new voicemail, tar it up again and then run a diff between the two which might reveal it.
why not just click menu while in voice mail and forward a copy to your email address.

Wow, I'm feeling very dumb right now. (that worked great)
I've even used that feature before, but I thought you could only send it to another users voicemail on the sprint network. I never even thought to put an email address in there.
Wow, from post to 3 replies, including answer.... in 25 minutes!
You all are so awesome. I can't thank you enough for taking time to answer questions like these.
Thanks again!

Your voicemails are in:
/data/data/com.coremobility.app.vnotes/files
Andy,

@buck are you sure of this? I tried to look for one just a minute ago and didn't see anything in here. Are they an odd extension?

They are on mine at least. They should be named VN-1.AMR, VN-2.AMR, etc. I was never able to find a Linux codec to play them, but my computer does at least recognize them as audio files, and the number/timestamps correspond with my voicemails.

twitter.. use seesmic or twitdroid or the like.
Sms barrage works for me. Auto suggest contacts like a regular sms message.

Type the first 2-3 letters of their name and it will show the drop down with their name. click their name and it will fill it in.
Or you can get Handcent SMS. It has an icon on the top left that you click and it gives you a checklist of your contacts to add to the message.

hello i'm new here.
so, i want to run some codes when an sms is opened.
what i want to do is basically read a message as it is opened(read or unread) and do some manipulations on it.
so in order to do that as the message is opened, do i have to listen for some activity?
how do i achieve that?
Google before you post

I don't think this is what the OP meant. OP, i'm not 100% positive you can do what you are wanting. Is it possible to do what you want to do when the sms is received?

Actually what i want to do is for every open sms, do some manipulations and forward it through bluetooth. is there any way to keep track of that?

You can create your own app to open SMS messages. However, you cannot grap any Intents because someone might use a custom SMS app.
