My wing has been acting up tonight and no matter what it wont pick up service, i have the open touch 6.5 biggy version on it at the moment any clue as to why I wont get reception? I am in spots with service so it must be the phone.
Is your sim card very old? I just recently had a similar problem and found out i needed a new sim card. I think mine was over five years old.

Yeah, mine did the same thing. Try using your sim card in someones phone and try using theirs in yours to see if its the card. Usually, they will give you a new sim card if it goes bad. I have tmobile, and just called the customer service.

I have a Qtek 9100 running the latest ROM and radio, etc on the Cingular network. The other day I get no signal, and reboot do not fix the problem. I take the sim card, and put it in a different phone. The other phone gets a signal, but says I can make emergency calls only. After about an hour on the phone with a Cingular rep I agree to drive to the store and get a replacement card. The replacement card fixed the problem. 4 days later, I am back to the same problem. The cingular rep is now blaming the phone after they can't figure out whats wrong. He is telling me the phone is "Zapping" the sim card. I find this hard to believe, but has anyone had this problem before? Has anyone ever tried to do an RMA with Qtek? Any help would be great, as i'm ready to put this 9100 on ebay and be done with it, unless an RMA with Qtek is worth it.
Happened to me last week with my 9100 (still running the original ROM). Got a new SIM and it's been running fine since.
i've had my 9100 rom on my 8125 for acout 2 weeks now without any major problems. the only problem I have is that it switches back and forth from gprs to edge a lot, but it doesn't bother me.
have you tried to reflash back to the cingular rom? it couldn't hurt.
I actually am running the Cingular ROM. I already replaced the SIM card 4 days ago, and it worked for about 4 days until it broke again. It doesnt make much sense, because something has to be corrupting the SIM card. When I ran *#*#364#*#* GSM utility, it would give me no data at all. Obviously the SIM card is dead (But still reads contacts on the SIM), and reauthorizing it does nothing to restore it. I will get a replacement today and verify the SIM continues to work in a different handset before I put it back in the 9100. Also I plan to factory default, and upgrade to latest ROMS etc before I try it again just in case. If anyone has any other ideas, let me know. Thanks.

Aqueous, very much the same problem here. I got my Qtek9100 yesterday and I am connecting to Cingular. When I switch on the phone it takes forever to latch to network. The
Y.
Y..
Y... keeps happening for ever and ever. But once, it latches it stays on to it firmly. If I put the sim in my old phone Nokia3230, it just connects to cingular with a snap as soon as the phone is switched on. When I tap on the " Y " region it shows "searching...". I also tried doing a manual/automatic network detection in settings. During the time the "Y. Y.. Y..." keeps going, the manual detection of networks doesnt show a single network in the list. I dont know what could the problem be, since the sim just works perfect in old phone.
By the way, what does

Problem cant unlock phone
Well heres what I figured out for my Touch,
-In Vista the Windows Mobile Device Center allows me to browse and perform all tasks like as if there were no password
-In XP ActiveSync says the Device is locked and unlock it.
-After searching for a way to backup my phone so I can do a Hard Reset I found out that there should be a feature call Backup/Restore which was no where to be found in WMDC
(I also synced my Treo700wx and the feature didnt appeared for that phone either)
So, my question is whats the best way to backup everything because I do have access to the phones file through Vista. Thanks in advance!!! PLZ HELPP
use an app like spb backup or sprite backup

Yea but on the phone I am stuck at the lock screen, the only way I can access the phone files is through Windows Mobile Device Center in Vista. In XP it says to unlock it but I cant.
Where is the Sim Card to swap?
I have read the thread on the elf unlocker, touch unlocker, and many others. However, I haven't found anywhere where to swap the sim cards. Where is the Sim card located, I hope I am just being an idiot and it's right under my nose.
Can someone please tell me where the sim card is, and if they have successfully unlocked the Sprint Touch in the (USA)?
I spent a whole day on trying to figure this out, and still haven't. Wishing for a good semaritan to help walk me through. Thanks.
Ryan
Uhh dude, there is no simcard in the sprint version. Its CDMA instead of GPS.

Unlocking Sprint Touch Vogue w/ no SIM
Thanks for the reply. I shourtly found out there is no SIM Card, so to get straight to the point, is there any way to get the Touch Vogue to work on T-mobile (USA)'s network without having a SIM Card.
T-mobile said there is no way to use a phone on their network without a SIM Card.
Background: I had my T-mobile Dash stolen. Now thinking I could unlock it, I got a Sprint Touch from a friend who bought the I-Phone instead. Can I use it, or should I simply resell it?
Please help. Would anyone be kind enough to communicate via email for quicker response? [email protected]
can you unlock the sprint touch and
use it on verizon?? if so how do you do it??

Ryan, not quite sure how you mucked this up, but you did. There are two main cell network types in the USA. ATT and T-mo use GSM, which has SIM cards. Verizon and Sprint use CDMA.
You CANNOT move a CDMA phone to GSM and vice versa. They use different radio frequencies, so it would be like trying to listen to an AM station with an FM radio.

Short answer, no.
Long answer is that these networks are still locked. Verizon and Sprint are CDMA carriers. In other parts of the world (Korea), CDMA carriers have the equivalent of SIM cards. In those places you can just swap out the cards, and you're all set. A long time ago our carriers decided not to implement this functionality. As a result, Verizon and Sprint cannot swap phones.
In the future, you may be able to bring other phones on the Verizon network. There is an initiative in progress that should provide for a way to test and approve devices for use. This won't happen for another year or so, so don't hold your breath.
Rev A And Gps Work On Htc Touch For Sprint
i had to swap my original rom with a new one which gave me the ability to have rev a and gps working on my sprint touch mobile.. it works great and i love it.. never knew my phone was so functional... SO IF YOU HAVE HTC TOUCH THROUGH SPRINT... U HAVE GPS ON YOUR PHONE
I'm trying to find out if anyone has tried doing this. For some reason when I install the sim from my gophone in the HD2 it doesnt say that there is no sim present, but it also wont give me the option to unlock the phone or make a call. If I hit the phone button nothing comes up. Oh yea, Mines the T-Mobile US version >_>
does it work with a regular t-mobile sim card?
Some phones require sim unlock with original SIM carrier in it - once code is typed in then it easily recognizes other SIM cards (AT&T in your case)
I have the unlock code for my phone. I just cant get the panel that asks for it to come up.
Oh and no I cant use it with the regular card because I have to go to the local tmobile shop on monday. I was told by tmobile that some how my sim number must have been a reissued number because it was registered to someone else and now I have to go pick up a new sim card.
My AT&T card was not recognised by my 9193 at first.
I had to put it in and try several times. Pushed it way down in the slot after lightly using a pencil eraser on the contact surfaces and off it went. Hasn't missed a beat in a month.
It's odd, cant seem to get it to work .. It doesnt say there is no sim like it does when I completely take it out, but it still wont let me bring up the phone panel. I've tried wiggling it, Putting it in 50 different ways... nothing seems to work.
Hello guys
I'm having an issue when my x10 says there's no Sim card inside and the problem isn't with my Sim card since I tried in my old phone and it works. Even other Rogers Sim card don't work. Anyway I tried taking the battery out and after 3 attempt its working again. So, I want to know anyone else having the same problem and what's the solution?

I had the same issue but mine was a little different. My Xperia would not accept my rogers Sim ( 3 years old ) but it worked fine in all my other handsets.. it was the Sim card in my case and I was surprised to have it replaced free of charge.. also I found that some of the Sims are thinner than others so they would not have enough pressure to make a good contact. A quick fix from my friends Nokia was some clear tape on the back of his sim and it worked perfect.
Good luck!

TMobile's customer service department told me to bend the sim card very gently to ensure good contacts are made. Did this on first day and not had any problems since (famous last words... I'll be digging out the tape by tomorrow!)
My Sim card is like 5 year old anyway It's working now

All u guys with 5yr old simcards need to get rid of them! Those have like 28kb of storage on them, so their phone books are so, so limited!
I know! U use the phones memory, which is a whooooooole bunch! But if your phone ever crashed, all your contacts will be gone! U cannot always copy the entire list of contacts to the sim card, but with a newer 3G simcard, you can copy a lot more than your 5yr old sim card can hold.
These are free! Just walk into your provider's store and request a new simcard. U dont even have to show them what kind of phone u have (ahem!... those of us who are skimming with grandfathered data plans ). Just walk in and say "left my phone at work, but I need a simcard".
I think this thread will help you
as it does for me

I checked that thread, but I hadn't rooted my x10a yet. Going waiting until something extraordinary happens
Someday I will change my sim card lol
hi, i recieved my new hd mini this morning and decided to reformat my SD card from my nokia and use it in the mini, but for some reason the card isnt showing at all in the file explorer or in the format card bit of the tools menu, any ideas why this could be?
Reboot the device If that doesn't help, replace the card. If that doesn't help neither, format the card in you PC and try again. Maybe you'd update your ROM to the newest version too?
right ive updated to the latest rom from htc restarted the phone and tried a brand new 16Gb SDHC card and its still the same, but using the sd cards in my nokia they work fine, any ideas lol or am i gonna have to get this sorted at a shop under warrenty
I think warranty is the best way to go.
HTC's share of defective products is quite high. From experience.
would i be able to take my phone to a vodafone store as the phone is one on their network or would i have to speak to the 3rd party company i got the phone through, or just go to my local carphone warehouse

If your phone is Vodafone branded, you can bring it to a Vodafone shop. But you'd bring it to the shop where you bought it That's the normal way here
i got my phone from an internet shop thats the problem, well i can but try lol

In that case, go to the HTC center of your country. I hope there's one in your city.
Wait. Call them up first.

Is there a HTC centre in every country? I don't think we have it
You can check that on htc.com.
