Pushmail pin code? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hi Gents,
Running Schaps WM6 on a 3 Mobile in Oz, I have an IT nazi at work who when ever I enable push mail on the phone to poll off works mail server it pushes a security feture where I have to set a pin and a time limit before the screen locks and I need to enter the pin again. This sux when using Tomtom7 in my car and every 20 mins I need to enter a bloody pin to open the screen again! Any ideas on how I could either blow out the timer or disable it all together? Thanks.

"IT Nazi"....LOL (That must make me one too; we nail all our WM devices to the floor with EAS policies....stops stupid users fuggin' 'em up )
OK, read THIS post and may all your troubles be little ones....
Hope that helps,
Mark.

Thank you so much, this awesome it works great, the 30+ others at work will be very happy with this, sure the Nazi will be pissed but he's a Nazi so it doesn't matter, the litte app you can download & run is a great idea, it lets you turn the security pin on/off when needed.
I love you...not in a gay way...not that there's anything wrong with that, but thanks.

Glad it works - didn't realise I'd be helping 30+ people in one go!!! Bet your "IT Nazi" will be pissed IF he ever finds out....but you didn't hear about it from me, ok
Mark.

Disable GPRS connection notification bubble

I'm convinced I found a way to do this while on WM5, but since I loaded WM6 it's started annoying me again.
Whenever GPRS connects it pops up a bubble telling me so. Very nice, but I spend about an hour on the train morning and evening using uBook reader to read books.
I go in and out of signal on the journey, and I keep getting the bubble while I'm reading which is a bit tiresome.
I've tried searching the forums, but can't see anything that helps. Doubtless someone will tell me I'm an idiot and say "It's in thread so-and-so"; if so feel free.
Can anyone help?

I did a search on this forum for exactly this. I hit yours first... then I hit this

LOCK of device (Hermes)

Hi!
Question for you Hermes-Pro's.. ;-)
Because of policy of the company i work for - They make a setting on my device that makes it impossible to change the LOCK-time to manual. And it is not possible to turn off the LOCK of the device.
Is there a way in registry or a program that i can use to overrule it. ? - The problem is that whenever i use a program and it has been untoched for 15 minutes - I have to enter the pin-code again.. That is not the smartest thing, when i use it as navigation... I gotta keep my eyes on the road... ;-)
I hope someone here can help me out..
Thanks alot..
I did look for a thread with this kind of question, but didnt find any - So hopefully im not starting a thread on something that has been asked 10.000 times before.
Looking forward to hear from you guys..

This is not a Hermes issue as much as a Windows Mobile issue.
If I understand it you are using Active Sync Over-The-Air (OTA) synchronization? In that case, even if you manage to get rid of the policy it would simply reappear on the next sync.
As far as I know you will need to beg your sysadmins for help and understanding. Maybe they can remove or soften the policy for you.
Remember: Their goal is to make sure the information on you device is safe. Is there a way you can both win?
/m
Could you make a program or something that ran while your navigation program did so that it kept doing a key press or whatever it takes to stop the lock from coming on?
If i can just do it every time i need it..
I don't really care that it actually gets on again when i do a Active Sync.. Its just a problem, when i wanna run the program and it keeps coming every 15 minute.. I surely understand the policy of my company - But still .. Its a problem when i wanna run other programs on it... And i can't change it. Theres gotta be a way to change that settings in the registry or something?? Any ideas..
Thanks though for replying to my post...

[REG] Better profile handling program

Hi guys, first post from me so excuse if theres some infos missing what you need, but I'll add as something is asked.
I'm a long user of Nokia phones and just changed my E90 into a Diamond. And the one thing that I really miss is that theres not exactly different profiles to choose from (or made your own). Theres only selections for silent and vibrate, other than the normal selections. And I really miss that from Nokia phones. Just a few simple clicks and phone has a loud theme with a different ringtone and SMS message sound, or then its almost quiet (like when my baby is sleeping).. I think you all get the picture, if you ever had Nokia phones =)
So my reguest is for someone to point out a program or if someone wants to make I would be glad, really glad I think some others would like these too
I could make another post but I'll just add few other programs also to here that maybe someone knows if there exists similar for Diamond
- BestProfiles (enable selected profiles to turn on at some time of day)
- FlipSilent (turn ur phone face-down and its on silent, works for alarming to go snooze)
- Putty (great for symbian phones but I found only programs that arent so good as this is)
Anyways thnx in advantage if someone can help a dude out...
PS. only had HTC for a few days but after starting using it I had to order a data-plan to my mobile and a better battery, but this was off-topic..
Try ageye's G-Profile (http://www.ageye.de/index.php?s=gprofile/about), you get a fully 14-days working demo and full app is just 5€! One of the most happily money spent ever for my Diamond, now I even have it start playing music when I plugin earphones/carkit and stop when disconnecting!

I just installed it and it seems a fair try, tho it has a lot more possibilitys that i would actually need from a app might even help that dude out to translate it to my native language, like i just did to PocketShield, not finished yet but almost =)
Below again some off-topic, maybe some admin explains to me how to get rid of it =)

Indiscriminate dialing has to stop

hi all,
my HD2 has embarrassed me enough! it dials in my pocket and sometimes answers calls without me knowing. friends and family know too much about me already
I started to set the pin for phone use lock, but it asked my old password. what is that? well I googled for the default pwd, and found a number of threads saying dont use the pin feature, it can forget the correct pin requiring a soft and sometimes hard reset.
if I have anything wrong so far, correct me please.
ok so I want it to be hard to make the phone dial out. ever. in fact, i would like a pin to even answer a call. i dont ever ever wwant another unintended call outta this phone or it will get tossed.
otherwise its a GREAT phone and a great upgrade to my previous advantage 7500
looking for suggestions. i am a basic computer tech, but no expert and definately not a s/w developer, so please if anyone provides advise think you are speaking to a basic-skills user not a developer thank you!
So what is wrong with just using the slide lock. I have never had my phone dial out on me when it's in my pocket.
You may be right. I'm not sure how it happens. Could it be that a reminder popup, or missed call, unlocks the phone?
Also, what is the deal with the pin number feature? Is that really a flawed function to be avoided?
use S2U2...I use that one with the 'activate when phone turned on' part of it...hasn't dialed and got me in trouble since..
cool, what is S2U2, a rom? if so what are the steps to re-rom the HD2? (I did it a long time ago with the 7500 but Im sure that was way different process)

S2U2= Slide 2 lock Slide 2 Unlock.
Just google S2U2 you'll find it. I used to use it but found that it can have issues with other apps that might be loaded.
As for flashing new ROMs just start reading the stickies in the ROM development section.
hey thanks man, just loaded it. if it works i will donate a few bucks as well to the developer.
question: which apps did you find that it conflicted with?

non so far - have been using it on previous phones too and I love it!
OK I have S2U2 installed and have one question.
How can I disable the "emergency call" button? To me that feature somewhat defeats the purpose.

[Q] Dual lock screen option?

Hello again, nookies. (Yeah, I know I've been posting a lot )
I have yet another question. I just brought myself up to speed on the shell and SQLite and all that stuff, and thought Hey! Why not try out my new skills by following the directions here to put a PIN lock on my Nook?
So I followed the instructions (they worked great, kudos to Renate NST!), got my code all set up, and I'm liking it. BUT, I have one thing that I'd love to improve, and here it is:
Could we make BOTH of the available lockscreen mechanisms (slide and PIN) work together at the same time, like iOS does? If so, I'm sure everyone would love it, because if we had the slide before the PIN input then no non-user-created touches (i.e, a case or book bag) would enter the wrong code over and over, and we wouldn't have the problem that jasonmehmel did over at the aforementioned thread.
Can we get this to work?
Thanks,
ThirdNookie
Usually the lock screen is only one or the other.
The default for us is the slide or the pin code.

Yes, I do understand that.
Basically, I'm just asking if there's any way AT ALL to get them to work as posted above.
What say you?
Like everything else, you'd have to write it.
It would be a bit of code.

Right. Duh me, eh?
I'd totally do it, but in all seriousness I don't have time. High school is hard, hard work, and I have much less posting/developing time. Might you please do it?
Feel free not to.

Oh ... I had a golden period recently where I lived the luxury of living with the slider as well as the PIN ... I just lost it ... have been trying to get it back since then ... but with little luck ...
I just wish i had taken a video of that period of bliss with both options working one after the other ...
@nmyshkin ... it did work ... for sometime ...
