New Sprint and Mogul Users QUESTION - Mogul, XV6800 General

I recently bought a mogul with sprint service.I m very familiar in flashing roms with my old tmobile mda.. I was just wondering if i was to flash new custom roms for the mogul would i have to to call sprint to reprogram the phone to have service again?.. cuzz i know with my mda it uses a sim card ( that holds all my tmobile service info)which the mogul does not support...

Nope, you'll get service if you get a radio (which probably comes with the rom). If you want the network settings, just use the Connection Wizard.

Make sure you have a new 3G SIM card. You can go to a Cingular store and they should switch your old one for a new 3G/UMTS card without charge.
thanks will try this today
did get new card but phone still did not work
called egadget(where the phone was bought) and they said to try to set the network as GSM and not on Automatic
did this and phone works great now
just for anyone else that might have this problem

JASJAR & Verizon Wireless?

Hi Everybody,
I have an I-Mate JASJAR and my friend who currently has a Moto RAZR, is on Verizon Wireless, but his phone doesnt make use of a sim card.
He is interested in buying my JASJAR from me, does anybody know if it is possible to get the JASJAR working on the Verizon Wireless network without a sim card?
Thanks
ChildOTK
that would be a no. Verizon runs off CDMA technology and the JASJAR off of GSM technology. so no the Uni will not work on verizons network
aaahh, ok, thanks. Didnt think of that.
Well a while ago I posted that Verizon was going to allow other phones on their network; granted they use CDMA protocol and our phones are WCDMA compatible, but I think it is the wrong frequency.
just my 2 cents

Htc 8525

Does anyone know if an unlocked 8525 will work on Verizons network? I've been using it on Alltel and Verizon bought them out now they want me to get a new phone. Sure hate to give this one up.
If the sim unlock has been run the there should be no reason why not...
Mind you I'm in Australia...
Cheers...
CDMA vs GSM
I went back and forth on this one. (and Welcome!!!!!)
Verizon here in the states is a CDMA (EVDO) system that doesn't use sim cards, GSM systems does. This relates to how your phone communicates on the network. Now willl a GSM phone work on a CDMA network, i think that it will. The SIM card in GSM phones supply the network with your PIM to access the network, it is tied entirely to the network not the phone. CDMA requires action from the carrier, and your access to the network is tied to phone not the network. You deactivate one phone first, then activate the second. You'll probably need to supply your IMEI to verizon and they'll load your access. Just a guess though, cause I've been with cingular/at&t since i carried around backpack sized mobile phones.
Does anyone know better?
As far as I know of, no. I don't believe it has a radio for the CDMA. Although you state you have used it on Alltel which I thought was CDMA...
What reason did they give for wanting you to get a new phone?

Qtek 9100 not working on Florida T-mobile network

Hi all,
I hope this argument has not been already discussed. Because all the keyword related to this specific problem are very general, I'm having an hard time searching for related posts...
I have a Qtek 9100 (not branded and never locked to any company) that I used successfully with all the Italian mobile companies. I moved to Florida couple of month ago, and my Vodafone SIM has been working fine in roaming.
Because roaming is not cheap at all , I just bought a t-mobile SIM card. But when I insert it the phone says "Waiting for connection" forever. If I try to select the network manually, the only available one is "cingular".
I also bought an At&T SIM, that according to AT&T and T-Mobile customer services, should have exactly the same technology for GSM connection, and so my phone should work either on both or none...). Strange enough, it works perfectly with the At&T.
However, I would like to use T-Mobile, as it is much cheaper for the type of service I need.
Can anyone help me? Do you think it can be related to the GSM firmware?
Thanks
Giacomo
Did you try flashing a stock t-mobile ROM to it?
