Seidio New 3500 Battery Issue - Mogul, XV6800 General

So I ordered a Seidio battery last week and I've been waiting for it to arrive. Well it arrived today and I couldn't wait until it was charged. I have two 6800's (long story), so I charged it on my spare 6800 and waited for the initial 8hr charge. After it finished charging I placed it in my new 6800 and it wouldn't power up, so I placed it in my older 6800 and it powers right up. I'm able to swap both of the oem batteries between the two phones with no problems. I've checked and all terminals are making contact. The only different thing between the phones is a number below the s/n number. The old phone has "CS003-00 C" and the new phone has "CS003-00 G". When it's placed into the new phone the light just goes red(as if it's not finding a battery). I'm going to call them on Monday, but I'm hoping someone may have an answer. Thanks

Soft reset having the new Battery installed .

Got my seidio 3500 mAh a day ago (via emobileinhand seidio's amazon reseller) and let it charge all night. with light usage starting at 10am (5 short calls, about 4 hours of ebook and game playing, several sms, and about 3 hours of internet with poor signal, no bluetooth or wifi) i ended up with 40% battery by 10pm ( I used to have to recharge by 5pm!) . It took me until 7pm the next day to totally run it down to 1% so I could start the recharge the next night. in the meantime I inserted my original battery to finish up the last few hours of the day (so I could charge seidio overnight...) Now... when I put the seido&mogul on the charger I got a flashing red light, and Nuebattery shows no charge. Soft reset button twice, still no charge. tried USB through computer charge, no dice. Tried 2 home chargers ( one 500mAh and one 1mAh), no charge. I had to remove the sedio and reinsert several times and finally got the charge to work. Not really sure if its the chip in the battery confusing the handset by swapping back to the oem battery. So after one day, I was almost ready to call seido also, but gonna keep seidio in its new home from now on though and see how she works. Such a powerful battery, but I wonder how many others have similar problems getting started with it.

I think it may be necessary to leave the battery out of the phone for a good minute or so before changing from regular battery to 3500mAh battery.
I had troubles, and this seems to fix it. Not sure why....

HELP!! PHONE WON'T TURN ON

So I upgraded to the latest mr clean rom and did some tweaks with the registry wizard. I was playing around with it for a while and turned it off to charge overnight. I wake up and try and turn it on and nothing. I've tried soft reset, and hard reset and it doesn't turn on or do anything. When I plug in my charger the light on my phone doesn't even come on. PLEASE HELP. WHAT CAN I DO!!!.
This exact same thing happened to me last week. I played with it everday hoping it would turn back on, but nothing worked. Out of nowhere, it powered back up after 7 days of being non-responsive.
So I would just suggest waiting it out and making sure it is fully charged. Sorry I don't have any better solutions, but this is what worked for me.
leave it charging (even if there is no light) for a couple of hourse. then hold the power button for 3 secs. It will work...ciao,V.
Charge it with the charger, not usb, mine did this and I thought it was dead but it's probably just a dead battery. For some reason it can self discharge to the point where the USB charger can't recharge it.
I've done that, had it charging for over 24 hrs now on the home charger. I guess the next step would be a new battery? Do T-mobile stores carry them? TIA
YOU HAVE TO USE THE ORIGINAL 1A CHARGER!!!!! 800mA will not do the job!!!
that's what i've done i think...the home charger... it doesn't say how many A though.
I fixed it , What I did was zap the battery with a 9v battery in 3 sec intervals, I did this about 5 times, then I pluged my phone into the charger and turned it on, the 9v gave it enough juice to boot up and the usb took over from there. So to everyone out there who is having this same problem, try this but don't over zap, check your battery with a multimeter.
my wizard wont turn on this morning. I just tested my battery and it's at 3.1 volts (not 3.7 as stated on the label)
Would your method work do you think ? My mains charger is at my girlfriends house i rely on usb here
Yeah I've had this issue before and I have it again. Last time it self-started after about an hour just sitting on the desk. This time it's taking longer, and is still out. I'm charging it as we speak - no light but I'm hopeful.
So this is a battery fault then? I guess that's a slight relief - I've already sent one in for repair and I can't do it again, as I'm on the far side of the channel..
ive never been backwards in trying these things out so i gave it a go. Slightly different method (a little safer).
Found an old 5v 2A charger lying around bared off the wires and used my meter to identify the positive and ground cores.
tested the battery again.. 3.1volts
applied the wires of the charger to the terminals for 5 secs
tested battery.. 3.25 volts
re applied wires for 5 secs
tested battery.. 3.45 volts
re applied wires for 5 secs
tested battery.. 3.52 volts
put in the wizard.. boot screen.
I think i have a seperate problem as i now have a red flashing light and then it locks up around 20 secs later but im a little further on at least !
cheers,
malty
all sorted here. I hadnt quite enough juice in the battery. Re applied the charger until the battery measured 3.62V Booted ok to the point then that the usb charger took over.
many thanks to the original poster
You saying that giving it brief jolts helps restore the battery? Given the time you applied it for, I can't really think it's being recharged by this action...
its a very temporary thing like a 'kick' and the extra voltage isnt sustained very long. It worked. thats all that matters
Yeah. But I'm reluctant to pump power into an electrical device without knowing why. In my case, the battery is giving a steady 4.2V output, which should be enough, no? In fact, the battery seems to be healthy in every way possible, and a few minutes before it died was reporting a ~80% charge...
I'll try kicking it though
4.2V is over voltage but yea that should be enough. sounds like you may have a more serious problem
Yeah, so do I. Battery was unaffected by a kick, output is still at the rated 4.2V, well above the needed 3.7V.
So, what would make an apparently healthy phone sporadically fail? It wasn't dropped or exposed to anything. I had it, on, on my desk. The screen turned off after 30 seconds, as usual, and then wouldn't turn back on. Soft and hard resets both fail to invoke any response whatsoever. No charging light.
The only thing that's different is that I did an ActiveSync for the first time in weeks, on a new computer, a few hours before it died. For which I'm extremely thankful, as I'd got a lot of data building up without a backup until then. But I'm doubtful that the sync has anything to do with the failure.
These symptoms occured before, a month or so ago, but the phone revived on its own after an hour or so. This one has been out two days now, which worries me.
Hi All,
THANK YOU!! I just bought this 8125 and thought I broke it in only 2 days. The 9 volt battery did the trick.
Now I can get on with trying to use it.
I have had the same problem last week and I used a 9V battery briefly onto the + and - of the phone-battery.
this just gave the phone-battery enough juice to start up and I was able to normally charge the phone again.
Old Trick but !!!Caution!!!
What you guys are doing is reviving a deeply discharged battery.
I frequently do that to normal AA 1.2v NiCd or NiMH Rechargeble battery that have not been used for a long time. When they measure about 0.2v you just jolt a 10v current through it for 1-3 seconds and then carry on charging as normal. If it does not come right, throw it away or use it as a paperweight
Problem comes in with the type of battery you do it with. I had a Lithium - Ion battery explode in my hands once.. (Thank god I wear glasses) I only had a few cuts on my hands and my shirt was ruined so I came off very lucky.
With lithium-Ion batteries one should be very carefull when attemting to boost it when deeply discharged... They dont like it very much.

Atom battery won't charge anymore - HELP

Hi. One morning I switched my atom on and got the notice that I need to charge my battery and a second later the screen went black. I figured the battery charge was really low. Now I cannot charge the battery at all. The red charging light stays on for 20 seconds then dies. I can't switch my ATOM on. Tech Support suggested charging the Atom w/o the battery first for an hour then charging it w/ battery inserted after that. I tried this but still no go. I charged the Atom w/o the battery for 10 hours then inserted the batter but it still won't charge after that. I CAN SWITCH ON w/o the battery but with AC power. It shows Main Battery charge 100% as soon as I unhook the AC adapter, the phone dies. I even tried inserting the battery while the AC is plugged in. The phone stays on but as soon as I take the charger out (after I leave it for 10 hours hoping to charge the battery), I get the Warning that my battery is exhausted and the phone goes dead 10 sec. later. Anyone know a solution? I've ordered a new battery just in case.
Sounds like the battery is dead actually. I think that new battery you ordered will do the trick. The phone itself looks undamaged because it operates fine plugged in to the adapter without the battery, right?
New Battery worked
Thanks for reply Mochan
The new battery did work. I was just worried that the internal battery was damaged. Didn't want to have to send the device back to HK where I bought it.
BTW I bought new battery at good price here: http://tinyurl.com/22eeca hope it lasts longer than the original.
Cheers

My MDA will not charge

Well, this is the first time i have made a thread. I bought an HTC Wizard about 2 weeks ago, i got it from a guy on ebay. The charger that came with it worked great, no problems at all, just happy to have my pocket pc back. the other day i ran in to a problem i was stuck with a dead mda and no charger. I went to the store and bought an iGo charger. i figured since my batt. was completly dead i would have to let it sit on the charger for a while. It charger for 24 hours and nothing, no indicator light not bootloader no power up. i finally got the charger that came with the phone. and it still will not charge. i tested both the chargers and the fuction properly with other phone so that rules that out. i need help i am now out of a phone. can some one HELP ME!!!
Try to charge the battery with other phone, you might need to 'Jump Start' the battery.
A completely discharged battery will only get charged with a wall charger capable of 1 amp out put or jump start the battery and it'll start to charge, but if the battery is gonner and faulty,it won't charge at all, you'll have to get a new one.
I think I'm having the same problem as the OP. My phone ran dead the other day in the middle of a call. I tried to restart it so I could send a text to the person I was on the phone with to let them know that I would call back when I charged my phone. It stuck on the splash screen and I'm pretty sure that it drained the battery completely. Now, it won't charge and the indicator doesn't come on.
Can you tell me more about this "jump start" that you speak of? More specifically, can you explain how to do it and what is needed?
What you need to do is get ahold of a standard 9-voly batter and 2 wires. On your Wizards battery, locate the positive(+) and negative(-) terminals, and hole one end of each wire there, then on the 9-volt, hold the corresponding wire to said terminal(pos to pos, neg to neg) and hold it there for approximantely 30 seconds. After waiting for 30 seconds, put the battery back in the Wizard and connect it to a wall charger that outputs 1AMP or higher and it should charge.
Same thing happened to me -let the battery get too low and then couldn't charge it with the phone. I bought a desktop charger for wizard battery from ebay and a spare battery. The performancde from the battery is much better from the desktop than it is when charged in the phone. For the sake of £3 it's worth a shot.

Tips for Seidio 3500mAH Extended Battery

Does anyone have any tips on how to properly break in the seidio extended battery? I feel like I need to break it in for it to work properly, but I have no idea how to do that. I'm not talking about calibrating it (leave it in for 8 hours, turn off, plug for 1 hour, etc., etc.), just breaking in a new battery.
Anyone have any suggestions? The instructions just say to charge it for 8 hours and then you'll see the full benefit after 5 - 6 charges.
Use an external charger to get a full charge on it the first few times you use it. I noticed on mine it would not get a full charge unless I used an external charger. The one I use is a Seidio purchased from amazon ($23) and you always have a battery with a full charge.
I put the extended battery in my phone and it showed it had a full charge in about an hour than I put it in the external charger and it charged for another 2+ hours. So I know my phone did not fully charge the battery, I experienced this on my first use.

Thanks for the response. I actually noticed that if I shut off the phone it charges properly to 100%. I wonder if you see the same.
I use the same battery and never did any of that stuff and I use mine quite frequently although, I still turn my mobile network on/off as I need it and I get 2 days roughly, sometimes more, sometimes a little less depending on useage.
I thought it wasn't performing well, but last night I left it on overnight, just sitting on the couch, radio on, wifi on, GPS/Bluetooth off, and in about 7 hours it drained from 73% to 67%. I think I'm good now.

[Q] Extreme Battery drain and strange LEDs

I bought myself a desk dock for my HD2 from ebay - and with it came a free battery. It arrived today so I thought I'd stick in this cheap replacement batter to see if it was any good. I put the battery on charge - it was about 50% full. Later I took it of the charger and went to lunch. After a while I noticed that the battery was back down to about 50%, so I watched it for a few mintes and in the space of about 5 minutes it dropped to 46%. So I though - cheap battery - expected.
Got back to work and put my original battery (which was 100%) back in my phone. When leaving work I noticed that the battery was a lot lower than I expected. Got into the car and plugged in the phone - thats when I noticed that the normal orange light to say my phone is charging changed and was alternating between green and orange. I started up the battery tool and noticed that the Battery current was -300 - and this was while it was on charge. Tried a few reboots, take out battery, Magldr reset to no avail. What I did notice was that when it wasn't on charge there were no LEDS and the battery current was about normal (-100 to -200), as soon as I plugged it into a normal USB charger it went to -300 and the LEDs started alternating again.
Anyone know what this is?
Thanks
I've sorted it. The middle pin was bent. Straightened it and its OK now.
Thanks
