changing default email - Mogul, XV6800 General

just wondering how to change what email address my phone uses by default it always pics my hotmail address when I send email from my contacts and I would like it to use my other address looked high and low for a setting and online...only thing I can think of is maybe its the first one that you set up that it pics by default. any one have any ideas?
also totally off topic but pretty disappointed with skyfire so far...no tabs ,no saving pics, can't open email links, not copy and paste on web pages...too bad as far as just using to surf pages its really damn good I wish I didn't have to think about what 3 browsers I would like to use based on what type of pages I will be going to. when will we have a browser that does it all...opera and skyfire are so close yet one is good for one thing and the other for another...if only they were to fall in love and have a child then we would have a browser that does it all

have you ever tried the gc opera mini cab. for a browser i mean. i am very inhappy with skyfire, but i comes in useful sometimes on some sites

no I havnt tried opera mini yet I always ment to but kinda forgot once 9.5 came out and that has been my main browser. But thanks for the tip ill give it a shot...im really hoping skyfire or opera will shortly add the few things it needs to be perfect.

do
do it better

Web Browser

Before I start, yes I know to try searching the forums first and if thats fails search the web...I have...hence me turning to posting this
The problem is, I am looking for a smaller, faster replacement for Pocket IE. One program in particular, but I cant remember its name (hence searching for it being a problem  )
Name was something like vx????? or xP????? - anyone help?
Thanks
don't know which program you're try to recall. but opera 8.6 works much better than PIE.
You were looking for ftxPbrowser. But it's not optimised for WM5 yet.
ftxPBrowser
Mobile IE sucks. ftxPBrowser works pretty well for Windows Mobile 5 on my MDA Pro. The AOL classic e-mail URL works to some degree--I can get all of my text e-mails, but I cannot get anything with a "picture"--in other words, HTML. Handango sells a program to directly connect to AOL e-mail--but it also doesn't work properly--it displays HTML messages as HTML code! And there is no reply button or back button!!
Opera works well to display Web pages, but will not access AOL e-mail at all.
So: what else is there? Surely there's got to be something better!!

Strange you've found ftxPBrowser usable under WM5 (read my related article on its problems under WM5.)
As far as your (and the others') other questions are concerned, read my browsing-related articles at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?cat=61 - they answer ALL your questions.
Opera Mini?
I checked your link--it's your blog. I skimmed through it and I don't see how it answers my questions. Why would Opera Mini solve the problems, if Opera [regular] would not? Have you tested Opera Mini with AOL?

Personal Homepage in PIE improved!

Sure, you can have your homepage point to google or MSN or some other site.
Wouldn't it great if you could have your own homepage where you can set your own links? Well, hell yeah. Better having to go to favourites > link... etc.
This lady created a HTM page that you can edit and set your own links.
For example on my own page I have links to google.ca, my yahoo email, HoFo, the two social groups I run, my bank's website. All the moment that PIE starts.
Excellent share...
It is easy to setup and you really do not need any HTML experience.
Cheers!

Amazing, it's only 2 weeks ago that I was looking for something exactly like this, as it's a bit of a pain using the favourites in pie. Thanks for the link.
Bit of a pain to edit.
I use Google Bookmarks as my home page. It loads quickly and means I can access my favourites (with tags!) from anywhere. Editing it is even more easily done on my PC.
http://www.google.com/bookmarks/
Although it is good that people are coming out with more options.
You cannot compare a 2k file that pops up instantly when you start off PIE with 10-15 of your favourite links.
Going to Google Bookmarks is not as easy specially if you have tons of bookmarks. Not bad when using a Laptop but not as easy when using a PPC.
But hey, to which is own, right?
check http://mobilust.net/bookmarks via mobile. easy to signup and save you bookmarks. i use it . still needs to be improved but at least designed for mobiles.
I checked it out, promising, but if you don't mind having a small, unknown company knowing all your bookmarks.
no. i wouldn't put my bank accoutn details there lol

Explorer and Opera don't show some webpages

I've tried these two browsers but i've some problems with some web pages like mail webpage of my e-mail provider Libero Italy or the itinerary of Viamichelin web page. Pages go ahead but don't charge everything well, making usage impossible.
Thia happens also using Operamini as java applet.
I'm using the new official gps enabled Rom but this happened also with the former Rom.
My old Samsung phone managed java Operamini applet to show everything.
Does somebody know this issue and has a solution?
The good thing about the trinity is to behave like a PC along the street, but without this kind of pages many advantages become lost.

Is Hero's HTC email app rubbish or is it me ??

First, it is slow ( I am comparing with iphone3Gs)
Adn then, it might be me, but it does an awful work at displaying emails with images...by the way Gmail seems to display them correctly.
On HTCMail, everytime there is an embedded image (html mail), it displays a button "show Images", which I push and then the emails are always empty. Never got to show images.
I have seen many reviews comparing Hero and iphone3GS...and none of them point to the fact the Hero is just not on par with iphone's email.
Is there any email client better at doing its job than Hero's bundled one ?
It is a shame for a smartphone to handle emails so poorly.
From my point of view, this is the first feature that needs to be impeccable on a smartphone, and for me , Hero is just not close to do that..
thanks for any advices,
and yes I have a 16G sd card CLass6 and store attachements on the card.
By the way, already tried K9 and it's plain text and does a worse job than HTCMail
I thought the same thing at first. Have you altered the mail settings, Send & Receive, Mail size limit, set it to no limit and it should show the whole email.
Just setting it at 100KB for mail size should allow most HTML emails to download and render. Only the very large ones would ask you to display images.
HTC Mail is slow to open, but seems to work pretty well IMHO.
Have to agree... Coming from FlexMail I find the default mail client awful.... And I am eagerly waiting for a thirdparty client that does the task better (which shouldn't be that hard...)

Well, K9 does at least display all plain-text elements in emails. HTC-mail can't even do that, as it for example refuses to display digitally signed messages even though the message body itself is plain text.
HTC is IMHO too obsessed with eye-candy. Their current offering is lagging behind even the plain email-application that comes with the android 1.5 dev-kit their current SW is based on.
Well, there is something definitely wrong in all those "hero vs iPhone3GS" battle style reviews !
They completely forget that most of us buy a smartphone to "keep in touch"...and while many people are crazy about facebook, twitter and all recent social network apps, I do use plain old style regular email for communicating and for the time being, Android is not on par with Iphones and Blackberrys...
My verdict...I am going back to my (lightning fast...compared to Hero) iphone 3GS.
Thanks to all of you that tried to help out through this thread !
Cheers!

Opera 9.7 and Gmail web interface

Is there an option somewhere in Opera 9.7 which allows you to determine what mobile view you'd like for sites like gmail?
Using Dutty's ROM's I get a nice view of gmail similar to that on the iPhone which is nice and finger friendly.
On almost every other ROM I use it is formatted differently and much harder to use. I even tried installing the version of Opera from Dutty's latest ROM onto other roms and still not the same. The option in Settings for using mobile view isn't what I'm looking for either. Any ideas how to get other ROMs to look like Dutty's when using Gmail.com through the browser?
Hi that's probably because the Opera app in Duttys ROM has fake iphone "User Agent" so that web pages believe it's an iphone.
Anyway, fortunately for you, you can force gmail to display the nice iphone interface by going straight to this specific gmail url:
http://mail.google.com/mail/x/gdlakb-/gp/
Bookmark that url and every time you click it you'll get the nice interface.
Also you can check the different interfaces/modes of gmail here:

Hope it helps Cheers

Thanks for the link! That worked great for Gmail.
Unfortunately, I also have a gmail hosted corporate domain and I'm not sure how to translate that link to access my corporate mail. How can I fake the user agent?
Edit: I found out I could change the Custom User Agent setting in the registry to match Dutty's. Now getting the same mobile experience I was hoping for in other ROMs... It wasn't actually the iPhone view but I like it.
