Hi,
I want to change the "gui" of my touch dual, maybe putting something like manilla. There are some apps around to customize the PPC like XIAMultiTheme (see post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=396910). I want something nice and change the feeling of the Nike but something fast. Which one do you think is the best customization? I like the one of that post, but i am afraid is going to be slower.
im using this at the moment and it looks very nice

Wow, i like
throttle launcher looks really nice
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TraPlMCjZUU&feature=related
im gonna try it out
ducamie, seems nice, is it fast?
the throttle launcher is still beta so its not as fast as it could be, but it is very smooth and beautiful graphics. by far the best diamond theme ive tried.
i recomend you try it, its a very simple install. install the 2 cabs and select the theme in the today screen option, then reboot and it will load.

Pointui is the best. Not the greatest to look at but the fastest and the smoothest. Loads super quick to.

ducamie, I've seen the manila2D and seems really nice, but I have read some problems that required hard reset... is it really stable on our niki?

ive had it on my nike for about a week now and its really great. it had a few bugs earlier but update 8 fixed it. it is really great.
i highly recommend it.
Is it faster than the TouchFlo that brings the Nike? ducamie, I think this weekend i'm going to install it...
I have Manilla2D on my Nike and it does take a while to turn the phone on, but once on it runs fine. Manilla2D looks great.
how do I install that manilla2d?

hi,
SPB Mobile Shell is working fast and looks nice, but it's not freeware.
In my opinion Manilla2D rocks (I don't use Mobile Shell anymore) but I still haven't found the perfect gui.

Can anyone rewrite the cab - I mean i´m german and i´m useing a german rom and the the cab install will install everything on storage card - but in german system its called Speicherkarte.. Can anyone help
I tried this last night, and had nothing but problems, had no responce from the screen, it worked once, and i will admit that it looked very nice.
it just stopped responding, i couldnt even get into the settings or file explorer to remove the WAD or WA from startup folder.
in the end i had to hold the windows and ok hard keys on my touch cruise to reset the damn thing.
I would suggest you back everything up if you try these cab's.
good luck, i hope you all have more luck than me.
WAD2 is still in RC form...there are still bugs that are being worked out till a final release.

That sounds bad...
I hope someone makes it multilangual....
I tried it on my Orbit 2 ..Works really well and responsive...like the animated gesture transitions...(imho its the fastest diamond theme available)
I just installed the deskop not the taskbar thing(don't like it)
Very configurable....still playing with it...
This is a good UI, and very good theme. I have very much enjoyed converting this them to work on the 320x 320 platform. I think you will see many more using the WAD2 in the near future as it is very flexible and quite responsive and not a memory hog.
Jdume I posted a message on the WAD forum you can respond there or here whichever is more convenient.
i used to use WAD for getting the vista theme on my device, really need to get into it again, cos i think probably did something wrong.
i might try again in a few weeks when i have some more spare time, does the diamond theme have any cool transitions? i mean close to the original thing, i heard months ago that WAD2 was next gen. and that would support such transitions.

HOW TO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTCAbs7GCMs
I got tired of using standard omnia launcher so I wrote a new one. You can see it in action here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4WF2atnnD8
This is the first release so it can have some bugs. It was tested only on samsung omnia so if you get it running on other devices please let me know.
If you'd like to configure the favotires, icons etc. find the installation folder - usually in Program Files and look for files:
Favorites.txt - add any application to the list and you should see it in favorites,
Icons/Icons.txt - will assign new icons to apps (name, icon). You can add any png 48x48 or 32x32 image - see Icons folder.
Exclude.txt - add app to the list and it will be excluded from the app list.
This is first release. Probably I will add some configuration latter.
Consider donating for further releases.
Which resolutions are supported?
How to config?
WOW!!! I love itt....I love uuuu!!!
Would this work in my Qvga Htc touch...Im sure I won't be so lucky...I try anyway....
thanks!
OK, I've just installed it ,it works, the scroll is great, but it's really hard to launch programs, it's like it doesnt response

It should work on QVGA and QWVGA. No VGA as it is first release.

If you start it for the first time it may take some time to cache everything, but then if you run it again it should run faster.
wow, judging from the video that looks INCREDIBLY smooth.
great work, would love to see this for other resolutions
this looks awesome!! hard to believe its a first release because it looks better than most final release apps
hoping for a vga version soon
Looks pretty slick.
Looking forward to a VGA release.

Ahh, okay. Still waiting for a VGA release.
Nice one, I'll try it out.
If its as smooth as that video then Im definitely going to use it longterm!
Cheers
Great job ! Love it !
actually, it works just fine on QVGA. This is great!
I was wondering if you could make something exactly like the TouchFLO 3d all programs launcher? that would be amazing
First impression... running as smooth on my Kaiser (QVGA). I installed in on my storage card.
Nice work.
Tried on my Omnia.. it locks for a while at the beginning, while the tab " favourites " is selected and you press the tab " find ".
Hey, That is pure awesomeness !!!
working great on WM5 QVGA Jamin/Prophet
but i have NET.3.5 i dont know if it can work without it
Ok, it's true, after the first time it gets really fast and smooth (I really love it), but I still didnt get my shortcuts work. Any idea?
Htc Touch. WM 6.1
Now it saw, it only launch the shortcuts if I slide to right, is it right?

Excellent app!! Just one question/request. Would you be able to implement a "category" system? Something similar to how iContact handles categories, if at all possible. If so, this would be an absolutely killer app. (Not that it isn't already. )
Keep up the great work!
It does work with my VGA Axim x51v, but it has some quirks, like. And its insanely smooth! I have never experienced such smooth scrolling on my PDA before, even though I don't like the menu lagging a little behind my finger (but I suppose that to be intended)! A great application already!
Could you tell me where you got this smoothly animated list control from?
/edit: Oh, and it seems to kill all the regular icons until I soft reset. See screnshot 3 for details.
/edit 2: I did not yet get it to start an application ^^ But I find it awesome that you can create such smooth applications using .NET CF.
This is RC. Screenshots
Actually, the entire world is. It was leaked to the public.
I saw a link of an all black theme for it, now I can't find it.
cool but nomore widgets?
we all are trying it lol. and yes there still is widgets.
probs so far.
- it conficts with touchflo 3d
- no box to deselect in home plugin menu
- finger scrolling working ok but could be a lot better
- no panel included in the cab install like there weather and travel software (i have a x1)
- uses a lot of wm stuff instead of there own software (eg, clock, sms, alarms, calender etc). not really a prob but would have prefered if they used the own software (jaze it up a little.

Installed this morning, loving it, does gradually hog the resources the more you do, but I guess the official version will be sorted, will definitely buy this, if there is only one bit of software you buy for your PPC, this is it..10 out of 10 from me.
Beats TF3D and SPB mobile shell 2 hands down.
to each their own, i installed the 'trial' and have to say that i got very disappointed; i used the v2 for a long time before i got my xperia and i loved it; now that i've seen the v3 it's uglier and less intuitive, i say no to that and stick to my tf3d which in general is also much smoother than this;
yark and blah...
Just wanted to gauge what everyone's thoughts were about which UI they prefer the most now that there are so many options.
Which do you prefer using out of the below:
TF3D
TF3D2
Titanium
Point UI
SPB Mobile Shell
Voted for TF3D even tho I haven't tested any of the other, but I've seen youtube videos.
Neither of them..Sense UI all the way.

It doesn't matter if it hasn't been ported to the diamond..All I know is that Sense UI is the best UI out there. Just my two cents.
Wich UI do you prefer?
I would say PointUI Pro with the Sense UI themes and applets, works like a charm, feels smooth and lag free.
SPB Mobile Shell 3
SPB shell is the best for me, better than manilla, it can be configured like you want and everything it is very accesible and finger friendly.
Using titanium right now. But can't wait when HTC releases sense ui for winmo.
Also looking for good port of sense ui for now, which one you using CraZyLiLbOy ?
voted TF3D2 now it's very usable also with the "old" diamond
PointUI is really nice but wastes too much memory
SPB Shell isn't free
I really like SPB shell is the best.
Its finger friendly, customisable and easy to use.
I'm a Titanium user for now. But when Manila 2.6 shows up... I'll be switching to that!

Im with you on that one Trident. Can't wait for the Diamond Dev's to port it over
I feel all the new UIs are memory hungry, so use the old school Touch Home screen, got everything you need, and still room to fit a couple of home plugin's on the today screen, and it runs so much quicker than anything else I've tried (and I've tried them all)
does anyone knows where to find old school htc today for vga screen?
found couple htc today, but icons are too smal at vga screen.
This is the one I use, works fine both portrait and landscape.

Agreed. Everything is so much easier with it. You dont even have to use the start menu if you configure it properly.
SPB mobile shell is well worth the $30
So, still awaiting the day when I can grab my Imagio. SOON! Anyway, question for all you users out there. Just opinions, as I have not worked with either one really (I played with SPB on my iPaq, but memory sucked on the iPaq, so no good comparison).
Which do you find better in terms of usability, finger friendlyness, and overall customization? TF3D or SPB Mobil Shell?

I have to say SPB all the way. It seems faster to me and certainly more customizable. My biggest complaint about SPB is that the weather doesnt get my locale from GPS.
Thanks Mike, but just lounging around a few posts, actually ran into a poll regarding this question, so feel like a duffas for not finding it earlier in my previous search for just this subject. Kinda a landslide for the touchflo, so will see how I like it, and if not, will try SPB, or may even run Androkkid to see if it will work with 6.5.
So, I am trying the demo of the SPB Mobile Shell. I noticed that the carousel doesnt 'float' when I tilt my Imagio, is that becouse its just a trial version, or is there something else going on?

I think I am wrong on that. Mine moves on touch but not on tilt.
I tried to activate the 3d acceleration, thinking that might be it, that froze up my system, had to do a soft reset. I think it has potential, but it seems more to be eye candy to me. I think I will stick with the stock TF3D, that seems to actually work better for me.
Edit - Actually, after soft reset, it works, sorta. I thought it would rotate based on the angle of the phone (g-sensor), but it only 'floats' with my finger. Still eye candy, wish it would also rotate to landscape.
TF3D for me

After using both, I really like the stock TF3D because I find that SPB is just too cluttered with eye candy. TF3D is more refined and it is at least as functional as SPB, perhaps even more so. It's definitely more streamlined and better organized, imho..
Yea, just had to do a second soft reset, this was after trying to remove it! So even though it really looks cool, I need something a bit more stable, functional, and effective.
I use both, i like the SPB shell most of the time and when I want to experience the TF3D i just go to the today tab in the settings and under the Items tab either tick the Launch TouchFlo 3D line which give user option to activate TF3D from the today screen or just tick the TouchFlo 3D line to activate when i hit the ok button on top and then go to the Today screen and there it is in all its simplisity. when i want the spb shell back i either reverse the process or tap on the start tab in the upper left coner one time then hit the back button.
I think you should try the maxsense ui rom that energy roms has cooked up. but you have to understand custom roms and how to flash. Id do a google search of maxsense and watch some reviews. it a cross between mobile shell and TF3D.

Alot has changed since I started this, I have my Imagio now, and have allready thrown on one of NRG Sense ROMs with the addition of CHT 1.8.5.1 as well. I have switched between Sense, ThrottleLauncher, SPB, Androkkid, PointUI, and Infinity.
Each one has its strengths, as well as weaknesses. I find Sense to be the most stable, but limited in customization compared to the others. It does very well in putting what I really need right there at the home screen. And the ability to have 4 home screens is nice. Limited to what 'widgets' and where they get placed is unfortunate, but I think that the effectiveness of CHT and Sense outweighs those issues.
TL has some great strengths in regard to the plethora of themes out there, the customization, and the ease doing that type of work. Disadvanges to me is that its not very stable, and gets a little quirky sometimes. But again, all the things I can do with it make up for the occasional soft reset.
SPB to me is really just a toy to show off. I have tried it three times now, and just can't seem to get something that I really like. I have a hard time navigating between everything, and again, its limited in 'widgets' as well, and no, I haven't tried all the different themes. But there always seems to be something that causes me to soft reset at least once a week.
Androkkid is fun as well, but the graphics aren't the best. It really is super easy to use and super easy to theme and customize, but there isn't alot of stuff going on with it. It was great for my old iPaq, but not as good for my Imagio.
PointUI is just way too freaking hard to figure out. I have tried multiple themes, multiple installs, and it never works right. Weather doesn't work, time can't change, I could continue to list, but don't have the time.
Infinity is probably the one that I would consider the most stable aftermarket UI out there, unfortunatly, its a dead UI, as the developer hasn't done anything in forever. Its super smooth, easy to customize, and I especially love the bubble's SMS capabilites! Its perhaps the most stable out of all the UI's I have tried, without one glitch that I can remember. I just wish there was more interest in it.
So I will continue to help the folks over at TL work on their themes through testing, and continue to use Sense whenever I am just working normal.
thanks for the input though! Its best to say that this thread is actually closed.
