What should I do? (new comer) - Wing, P4350 General

Hey I'm new to the whole Customizing my phone. I'm getting a wing very very soon & I would like to know what exactly is the first thing i do to start flashing and customizing. I know their are guides but there is a lot of info and its kind of confusing, I just don't wanna brick my phone the first day I get it. So anyone please help if you can.
Thanks

First thing is to read about hard spl and hard spl your wing. this would allow you to flash different roms. Just read the instructions before flashing.

Read, read, and read some more.
Don't do something that is "pretty close" to what the step says, only if it matches exactly. (Otherwise you may end up with a shiny new doorstop, not a great new phone.)

Yeah, you will probably want to Hard spl your phone. This makes it easier to flash to whatever rom you wish. Yes, once you hard spl, then you can flash new roms. ...BUT, read read read. Before I hard spl'd, I read about it for a week or so to make sure I understood the entire process. It's pretty simple though. Just make sure your IPL number is greater than 4. If not, you will brick your device for sure. Read this...Papamopps wrote it.
Default HARD-SPL - working!
I case of people who donĀ“t read 200 post and still brick their device - here is the guide that worked for ALL people with:
HTC P4350
XDA Terra
WING
with IPL 4.xxx and higher!!! (that is IMPORTANT) (you can check by putting your wing in bootloader. Hold the camera button down and soft reset (use the stylus and push the little button on the left side. Keep holding the camera button until you get a screen with 3 colors. (red, green, blue). There it will show you ipl number.
and then follow this:
Default
For me it was working when:
1. install canonyang.cab
2. install aserpolicy.cab
3- install disablesecurity.cab
4. SOFTRESET
5. run RUU from Hard-SPLWM6 folder verison 4.70.yang
6. screen will become white - WAIT until it reboots itselfe.
7. done!
check if SPL now is 4.70.yang
Fore sure: I used this
http://rapidshare.de/files/38148213/...l_WM6.rar.html
mirror: http://www.sendspace.com/file/ot8zsn
It worked for many others, too.

Yeah, you will prob want to overclock. Just use batterystatus to do it. Most people stay around 247 or so, but I run 286 and have never had any issues with it.

Error 270

I really hate to make a bad first impression but...
No matter what I do I get this error. I was trying to HARDSPL the phone, I put it into boot loader mode, I installed all the .cab's . It starts the progress bar up gets to about 3% and the phone screen goes black and restarts and then ERROR 270 shows up in the RUU. I searched around but found nothing for the Herald about it. Just asking for any help as to what I can do.
Thank you in advance.

ok that was disabled. I enabled it, same problem.
Seems to be running Open Touch 5.0.
Just bought it off ebay.
Ok think I got it. Seems to be very hard to find a newbie guide for first timers of this sort of thing.
Found some files by ivanmmj and sifted through them. Found a USPL program that SID unlocked the phone, after that I was able to run HARD SPL, and everything was fine. Now my next step is to try to flash a ROM on it , wish me luck.
Think after all this work I'm going to try to write a guide for first timers like me to explain this stuff a little better.
If it had OpenTouch 5.0, it might have already been HardSPLed. Either way, I'm glad you found the answer yourself. It shows that you actually did your research.

That's really not a bad idea. I know I was EXTREMELY confused the first time I flashed my rom. It took me a lot of reading to finally understand RUU stood for rom update utility. You do know for some roms, it's not necessary to hard spl. I went from stock rom to open touch 3.0. What rom are you thinking about flashing to?
There's a walkthrough by me somewhere in the forums.

Help with my first flash

Hi all as you can see form the title im new and would like to flash my wing, I just got a bricked wing, replaced LCD and its working now but slow as hell Ive already clocked it to 247 would not go any higher screen would flicker, now i want to flash in hopes that i can clock it higher, Ive been reading this guide
A Herald's Guide to Flashing Aserg, USPL and HARD-SPL need a few answers on things that I'm not to clear on, What is SPL, and how can i find out if i have 4.0 or higher. and can i put any NBH OS file in that RUU folder, and the only program i need to flash is ActiveSync, sound very easy compared to Moto phones.
and one last thing is there any other flashing tutorials out there what i can read up on before i do my first flash,
any help would be greatly appreciated
you should use USPL or HardSPL to flash. SPL contains the cid lock and other stuff. USPL temporarily bypasses the lock and HardSPL overwrites it.
you can put any .nbh in the ruu as long as it's specifically made for herald.
to check your spl version, go into bootloader by soft resetting while holding the camera key.
Hi and thanks for the quick reply all went well with my flash, but for some reason i cant over clock past 247 thning start flickering, thank you

Disable hspa/hsupa and see if it bricks your phone!

Go on give it a go
My phone had the following brick earlier: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=634347
Was wondering if anyone else has ever disabled it. I only did it because at my desk at work the phone is constantly fighting between 3g, Gprs and H

Disabled HSDPA/HSUPA, soft reset and everything perfectly fine. Left it 10 minutes and soft reset and everything fine, then finally reenabled it and soft reset and everything fine. Im not sure what happened to your phoen to cause that error but im glad it fixed itself eventually with a hard reset.
This is a good reason to put HardSPL on your devcie even if its just to save your phone from being bricked in the future so you can always get back into bootloader and flash a stock rom and stock spl back onto your phone if needed.
If you want to stick with your stock spl then be very very careful of any changes you make to your phone in the future.
I've done it on a couple occasions (for the same reason as you did) with no adverse effects. Using stock 1.66 ROM.
lol, ok, thanks for the test!
I'm yet to learn what you have just said about hard spl, will look into it! nooby alert

it does only for the time you have the customizations made.
You can flash the stock rom via microsd to put the device to pristine condition for warranty servicing.
Read very well mskip's thread in the ROM development forum stickies

[Q] Can't shut it down

Hi everybody! I've been visiting XDA for quite a while but never written anything, but now I got a problem that really annoy me.
My HD2 (International, stock) is really getting some strange software bugs lately. One of the more irritation ones is the unability to shut down the phone. Both holding the key and using "Quick EndKey" results in the same thing thing, it goes black but instead of shutting down it just goes back to the home screen.
What should I do?
I'm no tech guy when it comes to computer, phones etc (they mostly risk flying out of the window when messing with me) so everything "everything for dummies".
Edit: "Quick EndKey" actually worked one time right after I posted, but now it fails again.
Try a hard reset of your HD2. Be warned though this will wipe your HD2 back to factory status so make sure all your pictures, videos, documents, and etc are on your SD card. And use Microsoft My Phone to backup your contacts, tasks, calender, and etc.
To do the hard reset hold both the volume up and down buttons down while powering on your HD2 and when you see the screen with instructions pop up follow the instructions.
Thanks for the answer, I'm thinking of trying to go Android instead of just hard resetting. I'm really trying hard to understand things but even the "simple" guides feels like jungles. I guess this will take the whole night...

Here I will try to make things a little simple for you. Make sure you have radio version 2.08.50.xx or higher before flashing MAGLDR. If you already have a radio higher than this you are good.
1. Flash HSPL 2.08 using HSPL 4, I have a link to it in my sig.
2. Flash MAGLDR 1.13 which I also have linked in my sig.
3. Flash the proper sized CWM for the ROM you want, check the ROM thread for the size partition you need with CWM. I also have a link to CWM in my sig
4. Flash your Android ROM using CWM, here is a guide on how to do that.
Also check out my guide in my sig to lean how to flash HSPL, MAGLDR, and CWM plus it will tell you what all the options do. I also have therow guides on how to install Android linked at the top of my guide.
Wish me tons of of good luck!
I'll probably brick it anyway, but hey, at least it looks pretty on the bookshelf...

Do you have a T-Mobile HD2 or a EU HD2? If it is a T-Mobile HD2 look at the radio warning I have for T-Mobile HD2s close to the end of my guide, it is under the Radio information.
It's a EU one, I'm sure as it's bought in a store here in Sweden and was unlocked from the beginning.

Well if it is a EU then you don't have to worry about flashing the wrong radio as EU HD2s can use any radio. Just make sure when you are flashing anything via bootloader like MAGLDR or cLK you do not let the phone accidently become desconnected from the USB cable while flashing is accuring. This is truecalso if youare flashing a official or custom Wimdows mobile ROM. Make sure your HD2 is properly charged also so it will not shut off while uou are flashing anything. This should help you not to brick your HD2.

Help a newbie out please

I recently brought a HTC HD2 and I wanted to change the Windows Mobile OS to the android OS. I tried reading the instruction here on the forum on how to do it but no luck...damn I'm just not techsavvy enough to do this. If anyone have the time to help me...I would appreciate it. all the steps are on the guides, you will need to do alot of reading, ill be honest if you read the guides and still dont understand how to do it, you woudl be better off sticking to winmo or putting on an SD version of android
I tried reading the guides but it's confusing as hell with all the instructions scrambling around. Shoot I just don't want to brick my phone...

Mate,
What kind of Android do you want to run on your HD2?
Is it NAND or is it SD Android? Do you know the difference?
If you only want to have SD Android, then it will be easier for you to follow.
And you can keep your WInmo. I mean you will have 2 OS, i.e Winmo and SD Android. Just like mine (see my sig below)
The first thing you have to do is installing SPL 2.08 HSPL.
To do that, you have to go into bootloader screen. How? Turn off your phone.
Now, press the VOLUME DOWN and POWER ON BUTTONS at the same time, and release only after the FOUR COLORS SCREEN appear (Red, Blue, Green and White). If you arrive at this point, then you now know how to boot into the so called "Bootloader Screen".
Now, Check at the white color part (the below part) whether there is any text say: "Serial" (without quote). If yes, now you can connect your hd2 to your PC using USB cable. In doing this, you should plug in the rear (not front) usb port of your PC. If this is the first time, your PC would need time to install the necessary USB driver. If succeeded, you will see the text "Serial" now has changed to "USB". You can proceed to next step, i.e installing SPL 2.08 HSPL.
Remember HSPL is always be required for flashing ROM, etc. You will see it HSPL mentioned all over the HD2 forums. So you have to be able to install HSPL before going to further step.
Sorry, if I forgot, you also have to download HSPL 4. It is an application for installing SPL 2.08 HSPL and other SPL. You can download it from this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433&highlight=HSPL+4
Once you downloaded HSPL 4, extract it to whatever folder in your PC.
Keep in mind, it is for PC running MS Windows. If you are running Windows 7, you have to run as an administrator.
Now, while in the bootloader, connected you USB, and the text already changed to "USB", you run HSPL 4 from your PC. You have to follow the instruction there carefully. So, please read the guides provided in the link mentioned above.
If you can achieve this stage, then we can go on to the next level, i.e Flashing Radio, Task 29, etc.
Goodluck

This guy makes it sound difficult For SD Android, you need to go to http://www.htc.com/europe/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=1043&news_id=782 and install Rom upgrade 3.14 (just connect phone to computer and press a button, that's really all you have to do). You should be fine, but if you want to then check that you have SPL 3.03 and radio 2.15 (in bootloader and WinMo settings>software information respectively) then download an android build (I recommend AmeriCanAndroid), put it on your SD card (Copy and paste) and press two files on file explorer (clrcad and haret). You will then have Android and Windows Mobile
No HPSL, Radio, Task 29 etc needed. In other words: YOU CANNOT BRICK YOUR PHONE.

You best option is to stay away from flashing Android and to stick to Windows Mobile and possibly decide to boot Android from SD instead of flashing. Once you have spent some time reading, learning and understand the process more you can branch out to maybe installing MAGLDR on your device and then flashing Android.

A virgin would definitely put money on the line to prove that they're not a virgin. The only way you going to prove that you got laid is that you paid a hooker to bang you. Bloke, you're just trying too hard to prove something from a random stranger on the internet. You're so funny...that childish attempt of mine seems to hit a nerve because YOU'RE THE ONE that is fazed.
P.S. never take advices from a Brit on how to get laid! LOL!
I must say this thread sums up the difficulty one experiences trying to learn the guides on this site, very badly written, at least for noobs (which is what they all claim to be.. "ultimate noob guide".. not).
There could be just a few choice stickies to solve so many issues... like a post that get updated or voted on as to what is the fastest running rom for X device..
Basic descriptions of the strange terms used.
Explainations that HTC seem to be very unstable when flashing. I have seen one attempt to be flashed 10 times, and the 11th times it JUST WORKED - no rhyme or reason. No wonder people freak out on here.
I have spend a few days just trying to get basic direction, I finally get a rom on my HD2, it is slow and flaky as, but I am hella scared to touch it becuase it was an absolute sh*t fight to get that one on there. Now I have wasted another half day trying to figure out what a better, faster NAND rom will be, if SuperRam is bettr (?!?) jesus christ I just want a stable phone.
You guys flaming people for not knowing the mountain of crap to learn about flashing roms are a bit harsh IMO.

These douchebags thinks they're the sh*t because they know all of this stuff. Asshole like theAtheist keep telling me to read the instructions...well no sh*t sherlock...I wouldn't be creating this thread for help if I didn't have trouble following the instruction. Haha he's probably nerd raging right now because I flamed his sorry ass. lmfao.
