Hi all,
I am considering buying the i-mate JasJam for business use by field workers, to use a web based application for maintenance. One of my biggest concerns is the requirement to lock down components of the unit to prevent unauthorised use - for example:
- restrict PocketIE to only the webapp site
- disable video calling
- remove unneeded apps
- disable email
etc.
No one from our "friendly" carrier (Telstra) can help me out - I need to use their service as the 850MHz band NextG network has the coverage and range that I require. I know that you can restrict IE5/6 to one or more websites using content advisor, but can't find out if PocketIE has the same registry keys.
Before I get flamed for not allowing my field workers free and full access to the web (and the capabilities of the phone), Telstra's data charges in Australia are ridiculously expensive - $30 per month for 70Mb + 25c/Mb after. Since I am covering the data charges, I think it is only fair to pay for what is used for my business.
Has anyone had any experience in handset modifications after delivery?
Thanks,
Mark.

I am looking for developer/s to compile a mobile version of an open source program called Vonage Talk.
The source code (c++) can be found here under gpl:http://sourceforge.net/projects/vtclient/develop
Vonage customers can use this program to place/recieve calls on their existing VOIP account.
Many previous posters have been directed to SJPhone, however this is a different animal.
Vonage will only release SIP settings with a maximum plan of 500 minutes last I checked. I can use Vonage Talk with my current unlimited plan.
This program also has Instant Messaging software built-in. I will gladly support any developer/s that contribute to the mobile compilation.
(you can also use fring)
Hi,
I Have HTC HD2 of T-Mobile.
I don't have T-Mobile carrier in my country so I have to unlock the device.
How do I do that without using the online services? (I am short with cash).
Thanks,
Naor
is someone can assist??
Please help...
you cant.
either - pay online
or
get one from T Mobile
thats the only options.
How does those online services works?
Why can't I do it myself?
Thanks
You cant do it yourself because you need a special code generated by HTC. Either you pay somebody to hack the code or call T-Mobile and ask for a code but remember you have to be a T-Mobile subscriber to request one. How much are you willing to pay for the unlock?
My question is how those hack site generate the code?
I am not looking for someone to hack my phone, but I am looking fot the knowledge of how doing this.
I have technical ability to do such things and I don't need someone to do this for me.
How those online services generates the unlock code?
Thanks,
Naor
I've seen how to get free internet on some blogs but they are for specific carriers especially Indian ones or Philippines ones. When I look at them, they use the website that carrier give free access and use them with VPNs to get free internet... I have seen them use HTTP Injector or XP Phisphon... I kinda get the concept but dunno how because I dunno any networking stuffs. Any help to get me into these stuffs?
I want to setup a free VOIP phone with free phone number on my Android TV.
I would like to use internet connection to place calls with no SIM card and free service.
I know this is easy with a paid SIP service but I would like to do the free route please.
It should work well as it has a mic in the remote, just the same as a phone.
I have the Skyworth Leap S1 - same as the MyCool Box and others.
I see Google voice a free number but is limited and not truly free as I am outside US.
Please help with suggestions and links.
