Hi folks,
I'm wondering if anyone can help me out... I'm looking for an in-car mount for the Kaiser which will allow me to use the device in horizontal orientation, but without the keyboard exposed... Does anyone have any ideas? Is this possible with any of the Brodit holders or do I have to have the device 'open' with the QWERTY exposed when holding 'horizontally'?
I'd actually prefer a mount which can be windscreen mounted on a suction-cup - I know, this is far from ideal, but I use a few different vehicles and I really need something that's easy to move from one to another...
Any ideas guys/gals?
Thanks in advance,
Rob.
Hello,
Currently I am facing the same problem for a new carholder. Before I had something variable, which could hold either my old mobile phone or my old PDA which I used for navigation. But the holder broke, which rendered the whole thing useless. Anyway, the old thing was swinging too much My Kaiser fit in there as well.
Now I was thinking to buy the haicom holder. I hope we are talking from the same. Not the flexible thing, but the ones with the hinge-joints. As in all ebay auctions I saw there, you can turn it to use the Kaiser in landscape mode. If you do this, you cannot use the keyboard I guess. But for navigation, this is not necessary, at least in my case.
I hope I could help you out. Perhaps someone else has one of those and give us a reference.
*cheers*
The Brodit will allow you to use the Kaiser in any position, regardless of whether it's open or closed.
Im using the brodit pro clip,

It turns, so you can use it at whichever angle you need it at, it also slides open easily enough aswell incase you do need the keyboard while its in the holder.
I'm using a Proporta windshield mount http://proporta.com/F02/PPF02P05.php?t_id=746&t_mode=des
With a Pro clip swivel attached to it.
It works well but does oscillate up and down a bit unless you set it low enough to semi rest on the dash.
Hi folks,
Thanks for all the useful replies
Just for the record, I thought I'd let you all know about the gadget I found in the end...
It doesn't allow you to 'open' the Kaiser (exposing the keyboard) when mounted, but that's not important for me. It's reasonably priced, seems pretty well built and I'm quite happy with it. One other thing to note is that the power cable which is shipped with the unit has a straight cord, not 'curly' so there's no problems with the cable tension 'tugging' on the mount.

Can someone help me identify the part that is missing from the case of my 8525? If you are looking at the back of the case, the silver cylinder thingy that fits in the opening on the bottom right corner of the case is missing. I'd like to know what this piece does and if I need/should replace it.
TIA for any help!
Mine came the same way from AT&T. I always assumed it was for a Hermes feature AT&T opted not to include in their model, similar to the second camera.
Your stylus is missing
Easy enough to buy another ....

Not the stylus hole... the OTHER side
The stylus fits in the hole on the left side (from the back of the 8525), I'm referring to the hole on the RIGHT side. I believe it is usually covered with a silver circular thing.
That silver ring is nothing more than a place to attach a lanyard to give it it's fancy name. In other words a hook to clip a carrying strap onto if you want one. HTC supply a short wrist lanyard that clips onto the ring - other suppliers I don't know.
You are really not missing anything - with many phones the strap is an optional part.
This sort of thing:

Many thanks Mike (though, secretly I was hoping that it was a missing antenna attachment that would explain why my reception lately has been flakier than a stale croissant)!

You MAY be suffering from the signal flipping from GPRS to 3G. If you get dropped calls and high battery drain, you may want to select GSM Band only in:
Start>Settings>Phone>Band. (Change from Auto to GSM)
(Some branded models do not have this option)
I stress IF you have this problem. BUT it may be worth a try just to see if things improve. If you do not have the option then do a search on Bandswitch or Commmgr.pro

EDIT: By the way there is a place to attach an external aerial under the round rubber pop out cover on the back cover.
Hi everyone,
Today I bought a set of new styli from Adapt for my Hermes. I used it for a few times today. But one time when I reinserted the stylus after entering some text, I heard a "knack" sound in the silo. Now my stylus will fall out when picking up the device. I am very disapointed with this particular Adapt product and recommend everybody who reads this post to not purchase their styli.
But my real question is, does one of you know how to fix this?

You have either broken the white clip or dislodged the rubber block.
You would need to remove the back casing (4 screws) and unclip around the edge.

nice one mike, excellent answer.have a go dude its very easy actually
Fixed it!
Thanks Mike,
Fixed it this evening. Indeed, it was just too easy! Only releasing the back, after unscrewing it, was kinda tricky. Everything turned out fine and it works like a charm now.
Thanks again!
Scott
Good news!
I forgot to mention, but I'm sure you remembered to line up the camera's macro toggle arm when putting the back on again. If not you'll find the macro switch doesn't work. If so it's easy to remove the back, line iup the switch (a bit fiddly) and replace back cover again.
Mike
Hi Mike,
Thanks for the tip.
Before I attemted the "surgery", I read the blog you reffered to throughoutly. So I knew about the macro switch. But thanks again!

Hi everyone,
I have a peculiar problem. Somehow something (probably a tiny piece of cloth) is stuck at the very end of the stylus holder hole/sleeve. Now the stylus doesn’t get completely in anymore and I don’t think such small tweezers exist to extract this object.
I am considering opening the device up but the upper right screw has a sticker saying “void” on it, and I really wouldn’t want to void the warranty.
Has anyone had this problem before? If so how did you resolve it?
Thanks
I think opening up the whole device should be the last option, as you will loose your warranty probably.
What have you tried so far? Maybe you can go into the sleeve with something like a conductor and try to pull this tiny piece of cloth out.
I've tried with a toothpick but it was too small. I am thinking of buying a disposable medical syringe that should be longer and provide some suction to ge the thing out, but I am a bit scared of damaging something by "going to deep"
Uncurled paperclip?
try a vacuum cleaner?! perhaps he can vacuum it out ...
Sticky tape or blutack on the end of the stylus?
Kev
Thanks for the advice everyone. I've tried an uncurled paperclip. Even managed to make a tiny hook at the end of it but nothing. whatever is in there is well stuck to the bottom.
I am thinking of sending it back to htc under warranty. I'll play dumb and say I have no clue why I can't get my sylus completely in (which is not too false). I am hoping they'll open it up to check whether there is some fault, and, if they really find something stuck in there they might just take it off.
What do you guys think?
You should try something like that:

Run the device under a very high pressure fireman's hose, or one of the ones they use when stripping rust off ships paint (just dont get your fingers in the way).
That should do it.
well i found the HD sevice manual in pdf somewhere so if you need to open it i can say DONT DO WITHOUT MANUAL! lots of mistakes are possible when trying on yer own.
pm me for it if you are in need.
The diamond had a problem like this.....
there is a magnet that the stylis slides through....
on some diamonds it can come unglued.....and then the magnet can move
just wondering if this could be the same problem....you never know
Hello there it's Dr. Wmm reporting here to review the Proporta Alu-Leather Case now as many of you know there are many cases to chose from
to chose from But we all know it is very hard to Find a case that offers Style comfort and protection at the same time well I must say I may
may have found a company that hit's all of those points.Well we will start with a Case that Proporta Calls there Alu-Leather Case now I have
had the chance to use this case for a while And these are my feelings about his product the first thing I looked for in this case was it's build
quality and I can say it is put togeter very well there are no lose seems are anything right off the back. Now this case was made for the Gsm
version of the Touch pro only So yes the Att fuze works just fine And from what I can see that is why this case Fits so well on the phone now
moving on the next thing I did was put my phone into the case witch was a little hard at first Due to the fact that the plastic was pushed down I
guess from the factory it was made in but none the less it went right in after a few trys. The next thing notice was that there is a plastic cover
that covers the typing keyboard Witch is great becuase it allows you to use the phone while it's in the case also it protects the keyboard from ware
and tear witch is great the next thing you will see is that on the back side of the case is a cut out for your Camera and flash to work but one thing
I diden't like was that there was no cut out for the speakers Witch a lot of you know the Touch pro already has a Volume problem to start So in the future
they should change that. Now moving on if you turn the case over you will find it has a Clip that works very well and can be screwed off and on when needed
a great feature that not to many company's put on there cases now when your not using your phone you simply flip over the leather flip lid witch connects to
the other side of the case very tight So it won't jar lose when bumped. Now before I end this Review Proporta also offers a Full lifetime Warranty witch is Great
for us everyday phone users So to End this review I would Say Go and get this case it's a must for the pro user I rate it a 8 out of 10 also head over to www.proporta.com
and check out all of there products they have to offer not just for smartphones but also iphnes ipods laptops and much more Thank you for your time

Not being able to find a car-holder that would hold my Touch Pro in widescreen
with the keyboard extended firmly and still allow for a power-cable,
I designed this car-holder.
It ataches to anything that can carry a camera (1/4") and to the slide-in car.holders
from HAMA (they sell suction cups, air-hole -attachments, glue-ons and screw-ons).
You can attach the supplied and wider third-party cabless, reach the power-button
and it even comes with a hole to keep yout touch-pen.
If anyone wants one of these,
I can print them for 35eur+postage on my 3D-printer.

You don´t seem to have that printer for a long time yet to not know http://www.thingiverse.com/
It´s the first place to look for the STL-files of things ment to be printed.
Didn't think to look there. I thought you would've posted a link in here, but oh well.
Thanks!
IGES or STEP
Hi, is it possible to get a IGES or STEP File from you. I want to make one at Work, but from aluminum, with a CNC Mill.
My CAD/CAM Software takes STL files, but import of STL is not the best. It works better with IGES or STEP.
At the moment I am working on a Desktop Dokingstation, its not ready but will be in a short period of time. Will post it here.
Like this?
http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2195
It´s the original Alibre Design files.
With milling you´d have to work very deep in the material without your toolhead touching the sides
and you certainly have to run multiple faces. I don´t think that will work well.
I´m using my Touch Pro only for development now that I switched to the Nexus One.
I have to say that it pretty cool stuff. Nice work Marcus. What cool times we live in when you can design and fab your own accessories for your phone. Thanks for sharing.
