I have one missing key on my keyboard (F) (I can still press the divot under it and it works).
So I'm thinking I could glue a replacement key over the top and be 80% repaired... anyone got a dead keyboard they are willing to part with?
PM me if you do.
thanks!

My Vogue took a swim the other day and after some emergency triage, I was able to salvage the device with the exception of one thing-- the power button. The device turns on when you put in the battery, but after it goes to sleep, there is no way to turn the screen back on (unless someone calls me!).
My side button still works. Has anyone has any experience remapping the "screen on" command to a side button? any other ideas?
Thanks!
WOW! my power button just broke yesterday too and i had the exact same question!! But i actually dropped mine and i know the power button is either jammed or broken because it doesnt spring back. I basically have the same question. Is there anyway we can change the side camera button 2 act as the power button?
Thanks (and sorry 4 asking the question twice)
Personally, I would get a new device, since that may not be the only side effect, hopefully you have insurance, you do right?
Anyways, try AEButton Plus, set the camera button to whatever function (i.e. triple tap) to switch display on/off.
Then goto Settings>System>Key Lock, and change the setting to "Do not lock buttons"
Also, this is NOT freeware.
PHM Screen saver...
I had same issue with Power button - I cloned a Telus I got on Kijiji for $80.00 - Once I get AAA Auth working all will be well...
I used to use something called PHM Screensaver... and Yes RESET works too...
BTW - Anyone know where to get parts like that (IE Power button?) - LCD is easy to find, and I don't need it...

I haven't opened it up... but usually it's part of the main circuit board. Unless you're good with soldering tiny little pins... you'll probably have to buy the board and swap it out.
In the case that you happen to have mad soldering skills... it's most likely a fairly common momentary switch. You could possibly rob one out of some other gadget or order one on ebay. The hardest part of that would be getting one that fits where the old one does.
Actually, you won't need AEButton Plus, just turn the lock off.
You could aslo disable "time out power off" type of stuff...
and use AE buttons to turn the screen on and off..
as far as the broken one, i'd dissasemble and see if tis' the
actual switch, or if ti's just the plastic button going to the switch.
Has anyone been succesfull in in repairing the power button? I've dropped my phone only twice in the last two years and both times the spring in the power button broke. I'm beginning to think this is the world's most fragile phone.
can someone explain me why when i pres down key it acts lik i`m pressing left key and when i press left sometimes goes down and sometimes goes left?is any solution.is keypad damaged?and when i pres one of two keys it sounds like i`m pressing more keys sametime.
thnx
I am having a similar issue with my prophet's keypad. It doesn't act reserve like yours but some of the buttons don't function at all. Center key, UP , Right keys aren't functioning. Anyway, i've disassembled the phone 5 times to solve this issue but it just doesn't work. I am sure that my keypad board is %100 functional.
For your problem, i can suggest to dissamble the phone and check if the keypad flex connector is well connected. If that doesn't help, your keypad board might need replacement.
I just bought a used hd2 yesterday, and it came with magldr with ultimate droid rom 3.3. I found out that none of the physical button acts as a Menu and Back button which makes navigation and menu access very hard. I even changed roms but still same thingn
My question is, is hd2 don't map physical keys as menu and back? Or is my unit actually defective? All the buttons work though, only that the Window and Home button does the same thing while Back and End button turns off the screen.
Thanks in advance!
Update: I have manage to get the menu (window) button working, but the back button is more trickier.. it seems thatt the physical button is actually pressing other keys.. in this case when I pressed the Window button for menu.. it will actually press the Home button which will bring me back to home screen. And for the back button, its actually pressing the End button, although I did manage to get it to press its back button, but its quite difficult. Does anyone knows how to fix this?
reply back button
I think that u may have a faulty back button or that dirt got under it thefe are guides on here xda that show u how to fix back button etc but it requires you taking phone apart and you need to read guides totally and follow steps there are also guides on youtube as well. It also sounds that the buttons might have been remapped there is an app called button remapper that allows you to change what the physical buttons do like the phone button back button etc do in other words you can change what every physical button on your hd2 does like for example the volume keys you would be able to change to back button etc. Read about button remapper on google before attempting to use app hope this helps you.
That's a common issue in the HD2, probably your device is defective.
Don't bother with the warranty, replacement and all that stuff since the back and menu aren't required for flashing or entering bootloader mode.
Just download "zMooth" app from market. (Pro version will give you End & Search)
I would prefer fixing the physical keys as they are important functions that is required in order to navigate around. Any links to how to fix the buttons? I think they are just misaligned because of prolong usage. Because multiple tries proves that it can still work.
Update: I have seen the official tutorial video for disassmbling the HD2, to just replace the keypad flex ribbon requires one to go very deep inside the phone before you can actually access the flex ribbon for the keypad. Now i am thinking twice to repair the physical button, let alone give an unofficial service guy to replace it.
@Marvlesz
I have installed zMooth, nice app.. but take some time getting used to. thanks!
or you can try a cm7 rom and use the tablet tweak soft keys in the options.
u can use button savior to replace all buttons .. it's a must have for me ..
Does anyone know if physical button problem such as mine are caused by the wear and tear of the flex cable or is it because of the plastic buttons itself?
I have successfully replaced the screen on the HTC HD2 Leo, but after assembling the phone the volume button is not working. I am not sure if there can be something missing as I cannot feel the 'click' when it's pushed. (not sure if it was there before though)
As far as I remember the volume button consist of two parts: the printed circuit and the plastic button. Or is there maybe something that needs to be connected that I have missed?
Thanks for any hints

dismantle it again, it can be the plastic button its self, it acts like a spring under its own tension, when I re built mine the first time the lower button had stopped worked well, and it was simple because I hadn't put it back right, it was, and it looked right, but it wasn't quite right
I would a agree with dazza9075. Sometimes when putting the phone back together it may look right but sometimes its not. If i remember correctly there is a little spot it fits right into but you need to make sure it goes in in just the right way,
both on the top and the bottom. There is a complete how to guide to replace the lcd screen on the HD2. If i find it I will post the link. It may clear up just how you need to place the vol button back in place. Worse case you can always find a
cheap volume button for only a few dollars on ebay to see if maybe you broke this one when trying to replace the screen.
Hi, I did not manage to fix the button, but managed to get by without it.Till now. I was looking in google for a solution and found my own tread from ages ago...
Now, I would need to put the button together again. I looked into it and I guess I am missing a piece that the plastic button is supposed to be pushing. Before I order something, can anyone please confirm and possibly post a picture of what the button it should look like under the plastic part. Also if you know what the part I need is called, please let know. Please see below how my button "circuit" looks like.
Many thanks for any help
This is what you should have bellow the button

Thanks for your response. I could not find the buttons separately and have therefore ordered the button ribbon for the 5 hw keys for under $3, which hopefully will be possible to dissemble and transfer. I would rather not buy the whole flex cable, where's the button is attached to, as this is quite expensive $20+.
I let you know if I was lucky. If you know where I can buy only the small pieces I am missing, please let me know.
A pic of what I ordered is attached fyi
i can confirm that you can use buttons from that tape, I've had the same situation, just pick up the circle button and add it to volume tape.
Mine was damaged during assembly, you have to be very carefoul
You can actually do lcd & digi removal & refit without need to remove flex ribbon completely thus keep the volume button & cables running to mainboard all in place and those small button caps are safe still wrapped in original tape & it all goes back together factory style ...
My dhd volume buttons stopped working a while ago (unless u press really hard). I ordered a new button and it arrived a month later, now even with the new button, they r not working .
Also pushing the buttons with a pencil tip (without the volume rocker) still doesn't make it respond easily...almost completely dead
What am I supposed to do to fix it? DIY possible? Any suggestions are much appreciated.
Hey look buddy. I had the same problem and I have resolved it by replacing, by myself, the mother board were the volume buttons were attached . It's a DIY thing. Just order from ebay or any local mobile service parts from your country, the upper main board ( upper mother board ) and then search on youtube, how to disassemble the phone. Just to be very careful when you open up your phone because it's a little tricky, and remember the order of your steps.
Good luck !
