hello,
i started on a WM6 device "internet sharing" for PAN bluetooth. this WM6 device connects internet by GPRS.
on my magician i installed bluesoleil stack. i set
- WM6 "server" to 192.168.1.1 (255.255.255.0) - no gateway!
- magician "client" to 192.168.1.10 (255.255.255.0) -gateway = 192.168.1.1
DNS = 192.168.1.1
i can connect PAN - and i even can surf to microsoft.com with pocket IE !!!
but now comes the strange thing: it only works with microsoft.com! - every other website "can't found".
i checked a few thing:
- pocketlan route print shows route 0.0.0.0 -> 192.168.1.1 -so far i think it's ok
- tracert to IP of MS - shows first hop ok - then nothing
ping to MS does not work (although PIE can access !)
- tracert to every other site looks the same - first hop ok - then nothing
ping does not work.
so my question: is there somebody who got this working ? do you have an idea ?
thank you.
hello,
in the meanwhile i got it working with GPRS! - on the magician everything was ok, but my WM6 device was currupt somehow.
i tried so many tools - one of it seemed to make my wm6 device corrupt.
anyway - i reinstalled the wm6 device - ICS with GPRS works fine now!
but now comes the real challenge: i want to make the WM6 device share the wlan-internet connection !
magician -> BT PAN -> WM6 device -> WLAN -> internet
how can i do that. WM6 internet sharing only offers me GPRS to share ???
i heard about "icscontrol.exe" - tried it - but when this is running i get a "can't connect PAN Server" - i tried on different WM6 ROMs.
any (other) solution ?
i wanna try that too, but got no time. plz report when u have success
try wifirouter on the wm6

Isn't network access from the PocketPC trough (USB) ActiveSync-Connection possible? I don't get it working. With my old iPAQ (Widcomm Bluetooth Stack) i can use the Bluetooth Network for full network access. I tried PocketLANce but it's only a "remote network" for the host.
Any ideas to get my MDAc really bound in the network?
you have many things to try:
1. in your device.. go to Start>Settings>Connections>Advanced then Select Networks... and choose the internet or work... one of them should work for you..
2. at the same time, if you are using ActiveSync 3.7 or 3.8 ... go to Options>Rules> and make sure the pass through options is checked and matches the same network you choose on your PPC (ie. work & work )
3. for best results, I'd suggest upgrading into Active Sync 4.1 , which does all the work for you automatically
Hope this helped
cheers
I WOULDN'T upgrade to 4.1
Even microsoft reccomend not to use it for anything other than WM5 as it (4.1) is so monumentally crap!
although I would do the rest of it.
as long as passthrough is set to automatic it should work. Did with mine anyway!
I use ActiveSync 4.1 (since it was released) and i never had problems with it (only with 4.0 and my firewall).
I can access the internet from my MDA, but not the LAN. I want to sync with the Exchange Server, without a partnership on the PC. I get the CONNMGR_36 Error
As the Exchange-Server, i entered \\IP-Adress and used Certchk to disable the Certificat Check.
I got it working! I got my MDAc syncing with the Exchange without a partnership with the computer!
Thank you for your help, and btw, you need AS4 for this.
A good site for error codes:

I don't have problem accessing the LAN (Both USB and BT connection). eg: I can open my songs and video using TCPMP with address: "http://172.18.0.2:8080" (I configure my apache to listen to 8080 instead of 80)
P.S. I am also using the latest Activesync 4.1 (it's slow but I always want the latest)
I want to setup a LAN over USB between my Magician and my PC, with static IP's, but i don't know how. At WM5.0 the PPC takes automatically an IP, but on 2003SE?
Hi Everyone well this has me stumped; : my hp ipaq 6828 connects to my access point ok I can ping locally and to the net and get replies but IE wont display web pages either from my local web server or the net. The error I get is "the page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost" . My AP works ok as my wife has a jasjam with the latest roms and wm6 - "thanks guys" and has no problems. However when I use GPRS on the ipaq, IE works fine. The roms are the latest according to HP 1.00.03 wwe and 1.00.01 bl. I am using the HP IPAQ wifi Wireless adapter, DHCP is enabled and I can see the mac address in the wireless table on the AP. Any suggestions - cheers Dene
did you change it in settings->connections under advantage to use my network rather then my isp ?
IE not displaying anything using WiFi
Hi Rudegar Thanks Ive found the problem , IT was the proxy setup in the GPRS setting dont know why it wanted to go the the GPRS when using WiFi anyway thanks
cheers Dene
Hello to everybody
i own a Trinity (i love it!) upgraded to wm6 (shadowmite rom) and radio 1.46.00.11.
i am desperately trying to connect via wifi to my home network to use my flat adsl, but i have no success.
Besides i also have a Blue Angel with WM2003 (i still love it..) and i dont have any problems at all with it to access my network/internet thru wifi!
I am using a wifi router/modem (zyxel prestige 660 hw) with Adsl2+ and italian provider liberomini 4mb
my PC is winXP MCE sp2 and its connected to the router with ethernet cable
I have set up both PDA's exactly the same way:
-wifi card :connects to 'my work'
-IP address: assigned by server
-authenticationpen
-data encryption : disabled
-connections/advanced/networks: both set to 'wy work'
-proxy settings: internet connection enabled / proxy server disabled
on the router i disabled all protections/firewall/encryption/passowrd/etc.
dhcp is enabled both on the router and the PC
both PDA's connect to the Zyxel router and show very with good signal strenght.
the router recognizes the signal of both pda's and displays correct mac-address and ip address of both
BUT,
THE BLUE ANGEL CAN BROWSE THE WEB USING TE WIFI/ADSL CONNECTION AND CAN ACCESS MY PC DIRECTORIES/RESOURCES, WHILST THE TRINITY DOES NOT!
it cannot locate webpages and does not connect to network.
i tried all possible combinations of wlan/wifi/connection settings, but no way!
Am i doing something wrong? is there any special setting to be done with wm6?
i dont believe the fault is in shadowmite's rom as even before flashing to this fantastic rom i had tried once with wm5 and had same problem (though i did not dig too much in it)
Can anybody help me?
Check if you are using a proxy in your gsm settings. If it is so, use someting like Advanced Settings or Trinityhacks or something ele to disable the proxy during wi-fi connections.
Ciao
wm6+wm2003+ router wifi
thks yr reply claros.
i checked my gsm settings (you mean my ISP connection settings?) and there is not mention of proxy server in there
i only found proxy server option in MY Work connection settings and it is disabled.
all settings are exactly same as on the blue angel which is working fine...
do you know if this is a common problem with wm6?
any suggestion how to proceed?
found solution!!!!!
eureka
i found the solution in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=315982
its very easy! just go to wlan power tab and move the horizontal slide fully to the left (best performance)
magically my triniry now is connecting to internet via wifi!
great!
ps: still cannot access myh pc directories but i guess i will solve by installing Resco explorer
thanks
I'm not sure if I'm the only daft bat that does this. But in the past i would use my Hermes under wm6 as a Bluetooth Pan Internet sharing connection with my BA as it had the ability to either Host or establish a Bluetooht PAN link.
Since i've upgraded the BA to Wm6 I've noticed that as with my hermes the betowrk options are severly depreciated. and now when i search for Bluetooth services on the hermes it only shows Dial up networking but doesn't give you the option of Bluetooth PAN as a service it can find or give. also Can not set the init string to send to Bluetooth modem if choosen. thusly cannot tell it the access point etc.etc.
Is there any advise possible to help me link the BA with my hermes using Bluetooth PAN for the internet sharing through the hermes ( yea i know but HSDPA is far faster then the BA's basic 3g hehehe)
RESOLVED: the problem is in the Bluetooth stack of this rom. in short the Wm6 rom appearantly can't find a PAN connection at all as I tried to find the one on my PC at home and it definatly didnt' show anything accept a serial port. However my hermes could see the personal network conenction and once reflashed to the t-mobile latest rom it can now establish a PAN network conenction with pc or hermes300.
guess the bluetooth profiles in the rom for the BA in wm6 are a bit lacking at moment
It works great in Vista
Hi,
My Vista has automatically recognized my Hermes. No need to define a modem or connection string. Just run the Internet Sharing on Hermes and then it is seen in Networks and Sharing Cetner. I just open my IE and it works.

cool, only problem here is that my Hermes 300 ( t-mobile vario II) using Schaps 3.54c Wm6 Rom has the bluetooth Pan driver for internet sharing, as well as the modem link yea? And the Blue angel now being Windows mobile 6 doesn't show like Wm2003 did. in Wm2003 you could create a Bluetooth Netowrk connection for PAN to the hermes. Or a bluetooth serial connection to the hermes Modem link. Now it only shows Dial up networking in both since they are both wm6. And also doesn't give you the option of an init string entry in the advance network options for the AT+CGD init string that also lists the part "ip", "general.t-mobile.uk" which is the access point when doing Bluetooth DUN.
How would i establish a PAN connection to the hermes Internet sharing with the BA under Wm6 from helmi is the real question?
Ok I can assume then nobody else has 2 windows mobile 6 devices and tries to have one work via the other or nobody other then me has tried this.
Hermes300 windows mobile 6
Blue angel Helmi Windows mobile 6
cannot make a Pan connection in either direction Hermes to Blue angel, or Blue angel to hermes.
this means potentially people with Pda's ( ie: Compaq or HP Ipaq's runnign Wm6 ) or other mobile with wm6 will not be able to use the Helmi rom for internet sharing and really are better off leaving WM2003se on as has more compatability in that regard.
If however others have tried this and found a way to get it working please post =)
Me too

I have two WM5 devices and am having exactly the same problem! I always through DUN was simple enough, but I am not going to get in to a debate about it versus Internet Sharing BUT why the hell did MS remove the "client" functionality? It is all very well and good if your Internet Sharing device (i.e. WM5 or 6 phone) is going to be the "server" but what if it is the client (as many PDAs will be).
I see no way of doing it! Anyone?

you can still use the Modem link if you can get it to create a serial port bluetooth link , ie: pair the devices and select Serial Port. then under the connections then you would tell it to use Bluetooth Modem
and put in the advanced dialing string for bluetooth DUN.
there are a few threads about bluetooth DUN on this forum.
the only thing i can thnk of that would make this not work however is if the roms your using are cooked roms and the profiles in the bluetooth stack are missing on 1 or both for the features suggested.
this is what stopped me from having this work as the wm6 on the Hermes and on the Helmi rom are missing the profile for HOSTING a PAN directly without internet sharing and dont' offer bluetooth serial port as an option
Hi guys,
I'm running a MDAII (Himalaya) with WM6. 'Cause I don't like M$ Active Sync (and it doesn't work ) I wanted to establish own TCP/IP Connections to my PC (winXP).
When the PDA is connected to the PC the "Remote NDIS-Host" is activated on the PDA and I get on the PC the "Windows-Mobile-based device" (WMBD). So far so good.
Cause my local network is configured as 192.168.x.x I assigned manually to the Remote-NDIS-Host (Connections->Networkadapters->Remote-NDIS) a 192.168.x.x adress and on the PC to the WMBD too.
Ping from PC to PDA works. But thats it. If I run "vxUtils" and watch the Info field, it tells me, that the PDA's current adress is "169.254.2.1" even tough its configured to another one which is shown by vxutils beyong the adapters information.
Any idea why I can't override that 169.254. adress ?
So long
Honk
Btw. - if I assign 169.254.2.2 to the PC WMBD and 169.254.2.1 to the PDA I can establish a FTP Connection to the FTP Server on the PC listening at 169.254.2.2; but a connection to an also running WEB Server via IE doesn't work ..
