Is it possible to use a Wizard as a bluetooth keyboard and/or touchpad?
My last phone was a S/E K700i. It can be used as a HID device. The joystick replaces a mouse (with right and left mouse buttons). Because of the small keyboard profiles are used to control specific applications like Winamp, Powerpoint, WMP or even Counterstrike. I doubt that many people used this feature?! I loved it! It was great for showing powerpoint presentations or controling Winamp.
A HTC Wizard could do the same job much better. It could be used as a real keyboard (not just a few keys with shortcuts for special aplications). You could even write your text with other PocketPC input methods. And the screen would be the perfect mouse/touchpad.
The MS BT stack for WM5 has a HID profile, right?! Is it only the server part to connect HID devices like mice and keyboards or is the client part also includet?
This would make the HTC Wizard the ultimate remote control for a Home Cinema PC!!!
Is there noone else who wants this feature?
Profiles to control applicatins without using a monitor would be no problem. You just need a small program with a nice gui on your PPC that writes the needed shortcuts to the keyboard-buffer. If the corresponding application is started on the pc (and has the focus) everthing would be fine!
You would not need programs like Vinyl (not working with my Wizard) or iRemote. They have more features but they are only for WinAmp. Profiles on a Wizard could be used for any application with keyboard control.
I would love to control my home cinema or my presentations on my laptop with my Wizard. Anyone has already found the way to do it?

Try to use zRemote. It displays desktop screen on my Wizard... But it works via ActiveSync (BT works fine).
I have SE K700 and I can control my Wizard with HID profile on phone
You want Salling Clicker
What you want and need is Salling Clicker.

For windows and mac.
hi! before my tytn i had nokia smartphone and i had program for bluetooth remote control. (control freak) now i have tytn, but i can't find good program. i need program, that controls winamp quickly and smooth. there are many winamp plugins, but they are very, very buggy and connects 1 per million. my old control freak connects for 2 seconds, the connection in strong and it had desktop control (the desktop screen appeared on my nokia)
so please i need such a program for partys and for comfort.
10x, very much!
I'm looking for something similar...
(on my Nokia, I was using Puppetmaster; but while there are .jar and ppc clients, I can't get them to work)
Jörg
I'll publish a BIG roundup on all these questions very soon (as did I with "full" remote control solutions - see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1092389 ) - stay tuned
Oh my, i loved control freak. It's an excellent prog with sexy GUIs. right now i'm using RemoteAmp for my PPC, not bad but it runs over wifi. Or you could run it over EDGE/GPRS/3G. Overall it's great, it GUI isn't that sexy, but it's workable.
Puppetmaster allowed one to control different programs (WinAmp, Zoom Player, Media Player, Powerpoint, Acrobat, ...) and allowed one to add scripts to get support for other non-natively supported softwares.
I'm currently actually still using my old Nokia as a remote (I kept it as a backup device)...
Jörg
PuppetMaster is great ("fantastic" is the word ), but I wish the developer would continue the development...
Perhaps this is an option:

Anybody found a good application that works well as a bluetooth remote control for Windows Media Player or winamp or divx?
I use Salling Clicker, it does pretty much all you ask but unfortunately it's not free.

Jaylee1024,
Up till now, I haven't been able to test your software, as I'm using a Widcomm stack on my PC's...
I'm about to reinstall my system, and before installing Widcomm, I'll give your software a test (given the bluetooth features I use, the MS stack may suffice for me).
But I have found a software (Altiris SVS) that might be used to allow switching between both bluetooth stacks, so I'll also see if/how that goes...
Jörg
I use PPC tablet. It is not that good looking but easy to use. You have different profiles for different programms and you can make your own profile realy easy.

Thanks VJ, I've had reports that some latest version of the Widcomm stack might do the trick, but if you could keep me posted on your tests, I'd be interested too
Thanks !

I second this. I've used it on my 7610, 6682 and now my 8525. It's fantastic. Plus you can control with either bluetooth or wifi

Apparently, that utility can't really be used to swap bluetooth stacks. But I now have the weird situation where both WidComm and MS Bluetooth stack are active at the same time . I'm not sure what this is doing to the stability of my system though , or if both effectively work, so I'll need to test some things first.

Hi again,
I have in stalled the latest Salling CLicker 3.0.1.347, but when prompted to setup my device i am unsure which to choose. The choices are:- http://www.salling.com/Clicker/windows/devices.php
I have tried WM5/Smartphone and a few Dopod ones (I have a Dopod 838Pro) and when I open Salling Clicker on the phone i get "Fatal Error Service Unavailable most likely cause is incompatible device or faulty installation".
Has anybody successfully set it up?
Cheers, hawsktf
Handset requires rebooting after installing Salling Clicker... It's all good
Also, don't forget to check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=294524 - it's the long-promised roundup.
Does anybody out there have, or know where to find some Salling Clicker scripts for Hermes?
Dear Prophet users,
Is there a way to use my nokia 6230 as a bluetooth keypad for my QTEK S200?
On screen keyboard is not useful most of the time.
I'm an expert on my nokia 6230's keyboard.
If it were possible to use it as a bluetooth keyboard for QTEK S200 it would be perfect for me.
And If it is not possible is there a blutooth keypad with 9 key phone key layout which can be used as "phone pad" text entry tool in WM5.0
!! NO BODY?? !!
No body have an idea ??

Can't you use the built in phone pad with your fingers?
Personally, I use Spb Full Screen Keyboard
I've been googling for a bluetooth keypad for a long time. Touch screen keypad is definitely not a good idea, at least for me. I'm on the road most of the time. Used to be able to sms without looking at the screen while driving. Can't do it now. I know I'm not suppose to do that but.... excuse... excuse... excuses....
The closest (but not close enough) is a device called "Frog" something. Can't remember the name. Emailed the distributor in Singapore. They didn't follow thru with my query. Sad....
I have a omz bluetooth keyboard,no wording in dopod 830 too...
No one ??
Actually I have an idea but I'm not a programmer so it is just an idea for me.
There are some software those enable users to connect their PC(server) via Bluetooth (and/or GPRS) enabled mobile phones (client).
There are two parts of the sotfware
1st to be installed on PC and works as server
2nd is a java program to be run on Mobile Phone.
This enables the mobile user to control the PC via mobile phone.
User can use navigation key as mouse and keypad of mobile phone as keyboard of the PC.
If there were a server part for WM 5.0, it would also work for PPC to mobile phone management.
Can anybody have a proramming background to perform this kind of software.
I'm sure it would have so much buyers.
no one ??
isn't there a good programmer to do this application
I think what you're describing there is remote desktop. This is already built into Windows Mobile (5 & 6), and can connect to any PC running XP Pro/Server/Vista. Alternatively you could use a VNC client opn your WM Device (there are a few around) and a VNC server on your PC (again, there are a few variants). Although this sounds like a good idea its pretty fiddly trying to control a whole PC using a touchscreen and an onscreen keyboard, and if you're anyhting like me you'll get sick of it pretty fast and just use a laptop.
As for the PC connecting to the WM device, this can be done using the Remote Display Control Powertoy released by Microsoft a couple of years back. You'll have to google for that one though. If you cant find it give me a buzz and ill post it somewhere.
Sorry for being such a lame but:
I have installed it (JUVS_HTC_BTFtpClient_KAISER_1_1_29958_1.cab) but how do I use it?
Maybe it's the weather, time of year or my age but I just don't get it
A simple step-by-step how to is welcome.
Thanks!
Hope This Helps

There are several steps: (WM6 side and PC side)
WM6 Side:
Need to go into Bluetooth settings: \settings\connections\bluetooth
Once you've got there at the bottom of the screen you will find several tabs
(Devices\Mode\Com Ports\FTP\Security)
Go To:
(Mode Tab) Check off both, bluetooth turned on and bluetooth is visible.
Go To:
(FTP Tab) Enable bluetooth explorer, file sharing and choose the folder you'd like to share. (I shared my SD card)
PC Side:
Now you need to pair your PC to your WM6 device
Once you've paired your device you should be set to transfer files back and forth to Desktop and WM6 device
Options:
Remember there are several options you can adjust if you want to customize your pairing.
Some options you may want to consider:
Is your PC visible to your WM6 device? And how often will it look?
Setting up you device on your PC to always allow to avoid the password?
Checking your device to ensure all the Bluetooth options you want for this particular pair are checked off (Stereo, headset & ActiveSync)
These are just a few, so play around with both sides till it meets your needs.
wow. I never know how to use this feature either. I am gonna try this tonight. If it works, then I don't need to use my card reader anymore. Just share with bluetooth. Thanks a lot for the info.
Thanks a lot! Actually I don't know why I could not get it work.
Yesterday I tried it on my home PC (BT ver 2.0 EDR, Vista, BlueSoleil soft) and worked like a charm.
Before I had tried it on my business laptop with XP Pro SP2 and generic MS BT stack and maybe this is why I had problems.
To be honest I didn't even want to install BlueSoleil as MS stack was ok for what I needed (except that FTP) but unfortunatelly my new BT dongle was not even recognized by Vista. And since I got BlueSoleil on my PC it works great. Thanks for feedback!
it is just an idea. i thought it would be easier than the classic "tv remote softwares on ppc" for certain uses like net browsing.
-> would it be possible (usefull or not is another problem) to use the tactile screen of a PPC as a laptop pc trackpad to remotely controll (by wifi or internet i guess) the mouse cursor on a desktop pc or a home cinema pc or ... ?
is there a software for this ? something more specific than a tweaked VNC config ?
(and yes i know they sell wireless mouse anywhere lol)
or for the wii?
like bluetooth keyboard for the wii, or to emulate a wiimote?
Thats a really interesting idea.......
it would be great for artists who don't have tablets - you could just draw on your ppc screen with the stylus (when the ppc is displaying the computer) and if it acted as a mouse it would be like pen&paper which is much more accurate than trying to draw something with the mouse (like in paint).
hey guys...
maybe You should try this:

check on that salling app and mouse+ key combo script from tytn.
