Hi there, thanks for all the great info here first of all!
Would it be possible for there to be a sticky made that has a list of the major ROMs that are available that'd link to their respective threads?
I know there are the stickies for a few roms, but for someone new to all this like me it's difficult to determine what ROM is what. Something like this would be nice and easy for everyone that aren't totally in the know:
ROM Designer - Status - Revision Number/Name/Description
Xplode - Stable - 6.1.blahblah.CrikeyWhatAreAllThoseNumbersFor??.0226
Bill_Gates - Testing - WM6.1 Stripped Clean
Sun_dream - Stable - WM6.1 Feature Packed
That's just a simple example. I think having some sort of name for the ROM whether it is the designer, short description or both, and a status whether it's a stable or a beta-test version are the two very key items that would help everyone the most.
I know in a FAQ somewhere I read about what all those numbers mean, but I shouldn't have to go searching for that information each time to understand what in the world they mean.
This way each ROM designer could have one post that they update with new revisions, and the main List Sticky just points to that designers thread.
In the designer's thread it would probably be wise to have a sort of standardized format as well such as:
-Designer Name/ROM Name
-"Stable Version below:"
-Stable version number
-Stable version revision explanation
-Stable version download
-blank line
-"Beta Version below:"
-Beta version number
-Beta version revision explanation
-Beta version download
-blank line
-Any other discussion, instructions, spam, pictures of cute kitties, etc.
Just my two cents ($32.51 with inflation)!

Good news !!! Thx
Is there really no one who cares about the Wiki
You do a great job! I just miss a link to the cube customization thread. beside of that i have no idea to improve it.
how about a decent explanation of the different types of spl and what they would be used for, also a list of any settings you would net to take a note of before flashing a new rom, eg server settings for mms,
Due to a lot good man here making a lot of good ROM's we are flooded with huge versions and updates, however I personaly confused for one small issue and I assume that some (non developers) as same.
there are several Numbers provided with the ROM - not all of them are the same all the time so it is very hard to compare.
there is the OEM issue 3.16, 3.18 and 3.19 ....
there is the XIP issue 21140, 19997 etc'
the OS name 6.1, 6.5 etc'
and there is the OS 5.2.x.x etc
1. question is how can I see all this information in the ROM that we get since the Devlopers are giving partial information from time to time and in the device ID there is also partial information (that mostly include Developer signiture....)
2. can we ask from now, all the Dev' will provide all the information in there post?
Hi. I'd like to start with saying that this may have been answered already, but it is possible I haven't hound it yet. I read these:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505377
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=480271
and still haven't found an answer to my question (maybe I didn't pay enough attention? If so, sorry, and point me straight to the ansers, please )
1) Anyway, I'd like to know what is exactly the purpose of flashing my phone with a new unofficial rom. I assume that because it is unofficial, it lets me run some homebrew software from here, right? (I haven't really read much about this, but I see there are nice tweaking tools, and I like the new touch keyboard as well)
2)
* And what if the benefit of a new rom, in general? Stability fixes? usability additions? What is this rom? Is this like a new touch flo 3d version, or is it independent from UI interface, and it's like updating BIOS in a PC?
Is a new unofficial rom something like this:
http://www.htc.com/www/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=179&cat=2&dl_id=533
+ ability to run homebrew?
* I remember seeing some screenshots from the touch2, and there were some nice features, like a search bar embedded in the Internet tab and a new Calendar tab I don't have. Will these be available after a rom upgrade?
3)I read about the ability to change phone's settings and language by editing Registry. Is it only available with unofficial rom?
4)How can see the status of my langauge's translation for Touch Flo? Where can I contribute? (Polish language)
5)I reckon using/flashing at least some of the software available here voids my warranty. What does, and what does not?
6)Does flashing with new rom erase my contacts/etc.?
7) Is flashing dangerous? Is there any possiblity of bricking the phone and not getting it back to work?
PS.:
I have Touch HD,
Rom version: 1.14.405.3 (22273) WWE
Touch Flo 3D version: 1.3.35350.1_1630.38
SPL-1.14.0000
Thanks for your answers in advance!

so here we go, i proudly present: the VillainROM Kitchen!
i wrote this up completely from scratch, so please be gentle when it isn't perfect at the beginning
also we were not able to test every rom combination, as there are millions of different roms possible...
please note the faq link on the lower right side. if any questions arise pleask them here, i will update the faq from time to time.
final note: i'd like to emphasize that i created this kitchen myself, and it was a buttload of work. however i did NOT create the rom or any of the apps or modifications that come with it (with the exception of minor fixes or changes). nathan is and will be the rom developer/maintainer, and there are other parts created by other people, for example the themes. i don't want to start a long list of thanks and credits, and i take care not to include warez. there are several other reasons why something should or should not be included in the kitchen, so if you feel that your app is used here without permission or credit please contact me. also let me know if you'd like to contribute, be it in form of a simple bootscreen or a great app...
you find the kitchen at http://www.villainrom.co.uk/kitchen/ or in the rom section of the villainrom board.
now have fun with the kitchen!
Hi for all noobs/about to donate folk can you let us know exactly what a kitchen is please.
you can select options you want to include, for example apps or themes. then our kitchen will create the rom for you, you download and flash it. no need to figure out what adb is and how to remove or add stuff to the rom. check the link, it should be self explanatory!
also you can create a keyboard layout config file if you are using villain5.2 or other roms with the hacked keyboard from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=624416
the keyboard layout feature is free to all members of villainrom.co.uk btw.
Hello all,
Firstly I would like to introduce myself, I am the newly appointed Forum Moderator for this forum and hope together we can keep this place clean and a great place to develop!
The first thing I have noticed is thread titles are pretty inconsistent, many lack key information a use might need to know and this makes it not very easy to scan through the forum and find what your looking for.
Hence I would like to introduce Development thread title structures
The layout is simple enough, and I ask ALL developers to move to this new structure as soon as possible to help keep the forum tidy.
The structure is as follows:
[TYPE] [ANDROID VERSION] [NAME] [OTHER INFO] [DATE]
[TYPE] - Here you would enter if you thread is a ROM, or Kernel or Mod etc.
[ANDROID VERSION] - Version of android you thread is based on or for (If a ROM this could also include the base ROM used i.e CM10)
[NAME] - The name of your ROM/mod
[OTHER INFO] - Anything else you feel users want to know before entering your thread
[DATE] - The date or the last update/release/change of your thread
An example of this format would be:
[ROM] [4.2.2 CM10] [Zac's home grown ROM of coolness][Now with extra cool!][22/03/13]
If developers could please change their current threads as soon as possible, and all threads made after this post should conform to this layout!
Thank you
