After careful searching, I can't seem to find a thread or wiki that discusses the pros/cons of each of the different ROMS. I was wondering if someone with more experience than myself can write a short summary or even post a helpful personal opinion on which is currently the most stable and usable ROM for the Polaris.
Please no 2 cent posts. I would really like to keep this thread as clean and helpful to others as possible.

Would it be useful to have some sticky threads to stop us enthusiastic noobs asking the same questions.
e.g.
How to find out what firmware / revisions you have
How to back up and flash ROM / extended ROM
What's in the ROMs in the first place / How are they organised
Some kind of Rough Guide to the main features and differences in the ROM images that are uploaded to the site.
A guide to how Active Sync affects the other apps, (personally if I was interested in virus writing AS 4.0/1 seems to be a good basis for a killer virus, most of the destructive functions are working fine and none of the useful ones are working at all  )
I'd like to play and modify my O2 XDA Mini-S but I haven't dared to yet until I fully understand what I'm doing first
I've found some superb info and advice here but could it be more effective (IMHO) if the more basic important stuff was easily accessible?
Kim
If you can suggest me some of the current threads, i can make them sticky. But i do not have the time to read through all posted threads....
Stefan
Thanks
I was thinking that maybe some of the sticky threads could be started from scratch by the more knowledgeable contributors to give the kind of "read this first" info I've been looking for, then they could be edited effectively to eliminate spurious posts etc.
I know that the best place for this should be the wiki but the one for the wizard is a bit sparse so far, maybe if useful threads are generated then their content could be transferred to the wiki once they are closed

These look like a good stickies for a start

http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=40284

I'm no expert (yet  ) so I don't know which would be the best suggestions
Does anyone else think this would be useful?

i disagree with stickys for several reasons. One being right when you enter the forum they're there and getting longer and longer. so you end up with a really off topic thread thats got some 50+pages on it.
Also you say you want it for "noobs"? since when do "noobs" read stickys or FAQ's? They just post they're question without even searching.

I agree with you on that, OK so I don't mean threads, I mean closed posts with essential information written by people who already have the skills and know what they're talking about.

Also true, but I mean noobs to XDA programming not to forum use in general.
I've searched for the info I want but it's so widely distributed and conflicting (and wanders off topic like you said already) that I think a definitive guide would be helpful; if it's stuck at the top of the forum for all to read then it is usually accurate because the Mods agree that it's useful.
Maybe noobs post stupid questions because they don't know they're stupid in the first place
Kim
There is a Wiki here. the only 2 sticky posts need to be (IMO anyway)
1) How to post (its already done for those who haven't read it!)
2) How to access the wiki & the FTP
Then the Wiki can be kept updated linking to good guide threads if required. Also any duplicate posts can be refered to the wiki with 1 reply and not have 1 million threads all about the same thing.
Having recently joned the xda-dev forums, I deeply appreciate the hard work that the different devs are doing, from cooking ROMs, making kitchens, optimizing APKs, to helping out new users such as myself when something is beyond our understanding, and I have benefitted from that help several times already.
That being said, I have also noticed that several of my contemporaries (newbs for lack of a better term) keep doing the same things that irritate the devs and the seasoned users of this forum. So I here present the steps that anybody having issues should take BEFORE posting a new thread or in the existing thread of the ROM
1: Search the forum.
This is pretty self explanatory, if you have a login you can easily search for keywords such as "bluetooth not working" or "MMS won't send" both in the general forum and the specific thread.
2: Read the first post.
I know that the first instinct is to just jump to the last page and maybe read back 4 or 5 pages to see if somebody has posted anything about a given error, but often times the devs post what is and isn't working in the very first post and the update it as breakthroughs happen. The prime example of this is any of the Eclair ROMs where the camera, MMS, and Visual Voicemail don't work and that's all nothed in the first post.
So those are two things I think might help out newbs like me, anybody else have any thoughts or suggestions? This will hopefully help keep things a little tidier on some threads. Thanks for everything!
I say read the entire thread, or at least search the thread (which you can search within a single thread) for issues, because sometime issues are reported & even sometimes resolved, before a dev updates the OP.
Hey guys, me again this time I'm going to show you how to POST QUESTIONS correctly in the Q&A forums. I've had enough of seeing others trying to help when the OP himself/herself doesn't want to help make solving their problem easier for others. So I urge everyone to follow this method of posting questions in the future.
1. Post a suitable, descriptive title.
- Posting a suitable title will give other experienced users an idea of what their up against. That way, they will know what may be the problem and the solution to that problem at first glance.
- A suitable format would be ; [Q] (Insert problem here) (Insert ROM name here and kernel name if possible). One more thing to note ; if your problem is solved, add a [SOLVED] at the beginning of your title. That way, others can use your thread as reference in case they have the same bugs. It's much easier than opening 200 different threads with the same problem. Like the XDA video says, "You are not special.."
- DO NOT : Post titles that go "Heeelllppp meee plzzzzzz" "Pllzzzzz help !!!11!!" "Urgenntt haalp !!". It makes me sick to see titles like these. Not only do they have nothing to do with the question, it's irritating to see this 5 year old style of creating titles. Don't get me started with the spelling.
2. Be descriptive
- This is another problem I see these days. Don't just write something like "Hellp i flashed xxx ROM and now the phone act wierd". That doesn't help anyone. Not the OP nor the people trying to help. Instead be as descriptive as possible. State the ROM you're on, what kernel you used, any mods of tweaks you added, what you have tried so far. This will narrow down the problem and solution. Also, be as clear as possible on what your problem is.
3. Reuse, reduce, recycle
- As with the 3R's, it not only helps the enviroment, but the forums as well.
Reuse - If you have another problem closely related to your first problem, I highly urge users to EDIT their OP. There's an Edit button. Make use of it, not open 20 threads linking to the same problem.
Reduce - Reduce the amount of threads opened for a certain bug, especially if the said bug is quite popular in our forum. For example, if ROM X has a bug with camera, we don't need 10 people making 10 threads asking the same thing, especially when it's a well known bug.
Recycle - Search the forums instead of opening a new thread every time. If you find a thread where the OP has a similar question as you, you are much obliged to revive that thread. again, be descriptive because the OP may have posted that thread a year ago and things change here, A LOT.
4. Comparisons
- Please refrain from posting questions like "Which is better ROM X or ROM Y ?". This is not a question to be solved. This is strictly forbidden by the mods themselves. This hurts the developer.
5. ETAs
- Never open questions asking when an update will come for your favourite ROM. This act is strictly forbidden in the original ROM thread (asking for ETAs). So what makes you think opening a thread in the Q&A is any different ?
6. What are considered questions, stay in the Q&A.
- I cannot stress this enough. PLEASE POST QUESTIONS IN THE Q&A SECTION. No not the General section. Nope, not the Android Development section and hell no, not in the Original Development. I can say the same for some of the others. Why post Guides in the Q&A section, like how to dual boot roms or how to unlock bootloaders ?
7. How to...?
- I discourage many from posting threads on how to develop ROMS, THEMES, KERNELS. Those are things people learn on XDA. No one can answer that in a thread. I already see ROM/Kernel compiling guides all over the X8 forums. Be prepared to get your hands dirty tho.
8. Search search search

As quoted, please search for your problem before starting a new thread. It saves a lot of space in an already cluttered Q&A section. It also feels really good knowing you solved your problem by yourself instead of causing more problems for others.
9. Be grateful
- Finally, be grateful for ANY answer you get, even if it didn't solve your problem. Keep in mind, these people (like me) could have just seen your problem and scrolled past by, but they didn't. They took time out of their lives to help you, a total stranger in another part of the world. The least you can do is hit Thanks for them.

Hello i am a new owner of 1+1... and i can't decide which ROM to use... so many ROMs available and quite frankly don't have the time to test them all.. so I ask you nicelly to share with me which ROM do you use and your feedback about it

XDA is a development site not a support site. As the term "Best" or "Most Stable" is a very subjective term, such members are expected to do their own research, read through the development threads, and decide what is "Best/Most Stable" for them.
The only results that would be posted here are what each member has found to be "Best" or "Most Stable" for them by experimentation based on their phone/usage/setup/apps/signal strength. And at times, these thread spiral into arguments over which is perceived "Best/Most Stable".
Please take the time to read through the development threads, and interact with the members there, to learn all about the software you are about to drastically alter your very expensive device with.
Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation.
