Hi everybody! I am the happy owner of two devices: An Athena and a Kaiser. infortunately, in both devices I have something in common: No incoming calls. I've tried many ways for solving this problem, instaled roms, hard reset and soft reset and the incoming calls work for a while but later, passing the hours the problems gets back and once again, a soft reset . The last thing for pointing my suspicios is the posibility of virus. I'll be thankfull for any suggest, whatever possibility you can offer me. Cheers!
The chances of you getting a virus on a pocket pc are almost non-existent and plus just like if you were to reformat your computer (which gets rid of viruses), if you did a hard reset, that would have definitely gotte rid of it. The reason you're having problems with the calls is because of your radio or sim. Try changing the radio and you should epereince better call quality.

Thanks for your answer. I already have tried many radios and the sims card of both phones have tested in other devices and works perfectly. The problem in when each sim is in the Athena and Kaiser, respectively.
So you're using the same SIM on both devices?

No. The Athena is mine and the Kaiser belong to my dauhter. The Kaiser has only one month with her but recently both phones are with this problem, only in incoming calls.

Antennae problems? But that would affect incoming calls as well?
sounds more like a reception problem to me, interference in your area?
does it work well if you put your SIM card into a normal cell phone?

I only have smatphones, and yes, I have tried the two sims cards in other devices and all goes well, so I discard the sim trouble.

PS. Then SIM installed & I turn flymode I can't off it but then SIM is not installed switching performing without any problems.
PSS. sorry for english
Have you tried ...:
a) a SIM by the same provider
b) another provider's SIM
Make sure that your SIM also works in another phone. It may be unlikely that your current SIM could be the problem.
I have also a strange problem when i send an SMS larger than 300 characters it spends me money but it doesnt send it !

SIM from another cell operator, but it's of course working.
Then it might be a good idea to have your SIM replaced.

Tested three SIMs from different operators? the result same :-(
All SIMs work on another phones.
Have you tried reinstalling the ROM that worked in the 1st place? Otherwise you'll have to consider taking to a shop.
Signal Loss Problems
I am having the same problems. I even had T-Mob send me a new phone with the same result. Did you ever find a solution?
I am also having same problem, the agency informed me that there is a damage in the internal board and it cannot be fixed. this is rediculous...

bull****!
i sent my pda for repairs (to fix a different problem) and after two weeks they came up with the same answer,
but a day after i got my pda back, i changed batteries and found out it was a battery problem, and not a board problem!
thats a few hundred bucks of differens!
they seem to find it as a "default" answer, instead of saying "we don't have a clue what the hell's wrong".
When you go to option in call history, it give you the option NOT to delete call up to a year old...or never. I had mine set to never...but it still deletes the calls. it seems to only be keeping count for a week or two. is there any way to make this setting work?
Cant say i've noticed this since i've flashed my ROM so many times to test out the different Roms, lol.
However, one would presume that the registry entry for this would be the CallHistoryMax DWORD under HKCU\ControlPanel\Phone.
I have change my call History settings numerous times to test this theory but it has no effect on the DWORD value.
Anyone else have similar problems??
S.K.
i have 4 friends with the 8125, they all have the same problem. i too had this problem with my 8125...i was hoping it would go away with the 8525...but no luck. im thinking its something in the OS and not the phone. what you guys think?
any one? try it yourselves guys. this option never works

Interesting just looked at my call history and I suspect a sim card issue/setting may be the root of your problems.
The reason I say this is that my call history extends way back to January this year long before I even got the Hermes!! Info is therefore stored on the Sim. In addition there are gaps in the dates when I would certainly have made/received calls. This inconsistent recording of the info on calls I believe is related to whether the number dialled or received is recognized by the SIM the Phone memory or both. The longest remembered ones are obviously from the SIMs memory.
Not sure where this gets us exactly but my albeit inconsistent record certainly pre-dates this phone and back to my Motorola days.

funny you should say that. i just got a new sim card with the 8525...they gave me the 3g sim card. Thats kinda odd it would happen to two diffrent sim cards. i had 3 8125's and they all had this problem. now the 8525. the only phone it worked for was my ipaq 6515....and that was wm2003. It sucks because this is a reeeally good feture to have, you always have a number on file.

Yes it is strange. I don't think I'm suggesting any kind of fault on the SIMs. But you know how you can save tel numbers to SIM or to Phone - (I always forget which mine is set to) well I just wonder whether this has any bearing on where the call history is saved and or affects how long it is saved for. If it's the SIM and not the phone then there will be limits on storage space for the records. The question then is if it's the SIM which mine must be - how can it be changed to save on Phone memory for a longer record?
Sorry - more questions than answers!

I just recently got a t-mobile to go sim card. It works perfectly in all my other phones, and when i put it in my unlocked 8525, i could make and recieve calls, but no one could hear me whatsoever, i couldn't use any automated setups either those couldn't pick up anything either. are the specific settings for t-mobile that i need to use? The voice recording feature in notes works fine, but im not sure if it uses a seperate mic for phone. Speakerphone and the headset does not make a diference, also, I can hear myself on the phone.
I have the latest HTC Qtek rom and I have bootloader 1.09
Has anyone had this problem and can anyone help me?
I also tried it with a cingular sim card and there is still no voice
I hard reset the device and tried both sim cards and it still didn't work. is my 8525 broken? Also sometimes when I try and turn off the phone in the comm manager, it turns right back on and i get invalid sim and no service unusually often, and other times it. I think this might be a radio problem.
Does no one want to help me? or does no one know how to?

I think we don't know how. Can you access another sim from another operator and try that. I'm inclined to think there is more than just a software tweak required here and that there is a more serious fault.

Well, I tried both a t-mobile sim card, and a cingular sim card. neither worked. Also I'm pretty sure that this all started happening after I unlocked it using an unlocked code that I got from a remote imei unlocker, is there any way to reverse that? to make it locked to cingular again?
I am having a problem with my HTC Touch P3450 phone for the past 2 weeks. Although the GSM signal looks good, I am not able to make/receive calls. I am on "Phone" mode (not Flight Mode or similar). Everything else (WiFi, programs etc.) works fine.
My operator is Turkcell and I live in Istanbul, Turkey. The phone was purchased from the United States.
I have done a ROM update to ROM version 1.17.707.2B WWE but the problem still exists.
Has anyone else experienced this kind of problem? I suspect that this issue has something to do with the 3G upgrading process going on in Turkey.
Can you try to use your friend's sim card and see whether it works.
Is it something like a dropped call?
I tried two different SIM cards, one with my operator and one with another operator. I am still having the same problem.
The problem is that I cannot make any calls at all, rather than dropped calls.
Also I cannot take any calls, when I call myself from another phone it goes to voice mail as if the phone is turned off.
I guess it is a hardware problem then.

bsnl sim not working
Hello there.....
I am from Bangalore,India. i was using BSNL SIM for 2years. suddenly one day the Sim was dead. i thought sim problem so replaced 2 times after that got AIRTEL Sim. now its working fine. the problem is with 2 or 3 carrier operators. STRANGE!!!!!!!!
i have this problem too nobody to help pelease
tanx
please some one help me.....
I have been investigating this issue on and off for a few months now on one of my elf’s. I originally bought this phone off eBay to test stuff, and found no signal was being received when I got it. The auction did say this so fine. Checkmend says it is not blocked in any country, and is not stolen etc. Therefore, it is definitely something on the phone opposed to networks.
The phone can pick up signal, it noes networks exists, and can identify them, however, when registered and "connected" it does not pick up messages, and when I try to make a phone call the signal completely drops.
I like others have tried many roms. I have even tried every signal radio. I have also tried 6 different working Sims across a number of operators.
Basically, I think this issue is hardware, I mean, there really isn't anything else that I can think off. I have done some reading, and I *think* it may be down to the PA chips. There are 2 off these in the phone, one for Radio signal, and the other for Bluetooth, and wifi. (I think that is it).
These are located just above the battery on the back of the circuit board from what I can see, protected by 2 parts. One removable (two top screws - also contains the speaker) and one fixed into the middle part of the body.
I've done some playing, and it seems may be easy to break, either by dropping the phone, or even possibly by something as little as keeping the phone in a pocket and sitting on it.
I am not sure where I can go from here. I may need to investigate this further, but it is looking like it is going to be a dead end, considering I am not able to BGA solder to replace it, and expect the cost in doing so outweighs buying a new phone. I'm going to look into signal amplifiers, and see if I can find one that’s not just a piece of tin foil, and actually works. It will be interesting to see if that will improve the signal far enough for the phone to be usable once again. I may even just try with some kitchen foil, or by plugging in an external aerial (which I do not have yet, and may be costly, and therefore no point). If the external aerial works, I guess the chip could only be damaged, and not able to get enough strength itself.
This is only a theory on what I think is wrong with my Phone, and may be different to what everyone else’s is. But i thought I should put it out, to see if anyone else is able to confirm/kill my idea. It is a theory after all, they are made to be proven!
If anyone else has any ideas, feel free to pitch them, I like hearing what others are thinking, and it may be possible, although I admit very unlikely, that we could find a resolution to this issue!
Stu
@ashkan62 , can you provide a detailed problem please, this may give me something more to look at that I have missed.
wow. that's really informative. I've done upgrading radio roms too and even the spl. but nothing happened. hope your investigation on this works. thanks for the info.
or how about upgrading the o.s.? did someone tried that? coz I'm planning to upgrade my elf wm6.1 to wm6.5 and onyx 4 to onyx 6. would that work? what do you think?

I think it can't harm to try, be sure to follow the right procedure.
Yeah. I'll try to do the upgrade this week. I'll inform you if anything happens. (like bricking my phone. )
Here is the problem.
Altough i get full signal, i can't make/receive calls.
If i make a call it disconnects and i can hear a string sound (similat to a guitar).
If i receive a call the voicemail answers.
I cant make calls like *100# or any other stuff.
I changed the Radio, from 2.97.xx to 3.34.90 (or similar) then downgraded to 3.21.90
Is this a virus?
After i make a soft-reset i can make a call, but after 2-3 minutes, i can't make anymore.
Please help.
Btw, i'm using Orange.
Thanks in advance.
Please help
try to do a hard reset !

I'm also interested as to why you downgraded the radio? Did you get the issue on the 3.34 version? If not, can you not just put that back on?
I'd try hard reset before anything else like nnph said.

I had the same problem with an Orange SIM and the solution was simple.
I had a card SIM of 32k, I changed it for another 64k and problem solved.
Orange charged me 5 euros for the duplicate card, that's all.
in order to get to the bottom of this you should try:
1.if you consider the sim to be the problem: put the sim into another phone, see if that works
2.if you consider the phone to be the problem: try a hard reset! think if you had the problem before/after radio upgrade? if hard reset not working then try a different rom/radio.
If none of the above works for you than start to take into consideration a hardware problem, which I really doubt !!
Ironjon, did you had the exactly same problems?
I also have Cosmote, but it was doing that only when i had weak signal.
In other phone is working.
But i think it's sim's card fault. I only paid for the phone 25 E, it had broken speaker, i had someone to repair it for free. I'm not very upset if it not works, at least i can keept it for wi-fi and games.

Yes, I had the same problem.
I tried with 3 SIM cards of 32k and did not work with any.
I tried with some SIM cards of 64k and works fine with all.
