Quick question. Has anybody developed the IE scroll for the PPC/WM5? Second has anybody developed the open and close of applications animations?
Thanks in advance.
IE scroll --> don't know
Animate window is in Tweaks2K2 .NET , but I don't know ,is it ok for you , just try
looking for a free app, heard of tweaks2.net but would rather not pay.
actually, something that animates smoothly like the iphone and scroll are available. The one I've just heard about is itask over at the Lakeridge website. It works with wisbar I think. And as for the scrolling effect. It depends. If you just want that in your contacts list, there are a couple here like icontact or contacts manager that has the finger scrolling effect. But if you wanted it in all programs like Internet explorer, you might want to check out the touchflo stuff. Its ripped from the HTC touch device, but they have gotten it working on the wizard already, but it still has its bugs. Try it out and make the decision yourself. Hope that helps
the program PIE has a screen drag for internet explorer
Picture Scroller
Is there anything Like the Iphone Picture scroller available?
Thanks for the replys, I saw itask, im not running wisebar (wanting to see what I can do with freebies for a while). I used Icontact for a while, had some issues scrolling and clicking contacts etc.
I cant find that PIE app (searched google and mainly get..well pies..lol)
im searching out the touchflo now, but not seeing Apache, missing something?

Try searching for 'Pocket Internet Explorer', I believe that is what it is called (although I don't use it. I use picsel browser at the minute with my iPhone theme)
You don't need Wisbar Advance to use iTask. It uses Macromedia Flash 7 and Mort Script to work which is entirely free.
PIE is "Pocket Internet Explorer" which is built into most Pocket PCs today. What you need to look for is PIE Plus which uses PIE and adds tabbed browsing, finger scrolling and lots of other goodies. It's not free but worth it. Wisbar is also worth it for that matter as it is inexpensive
Whatg would you guys say is the most like the Safari browser? I have only used Picsel but have heard of opera mini 4 being like safari, and also deepfish.
iTask is pretty awesome unto it self, (im gunna play with it..lol), but im more looking to use the standard application of the phone and just add the animation when opening or closing windows.
PIE Plus seems to be exactly what I want in regards to the internet apps, but dont want to pay for it..Anybody know of another free app?
^^I'd love the transitions from itask, but on wisbar.

Why did you do that. I think I would want the same thing delude wants.
I want those iTask transition animations to work on Wisbar Advanced Desktop
Meaning I wouldn't need iTask anymore.

I'm having problems with opera mobile - after using it for about 20 seconds or so, scrolling, or clicking links, it freezes and I have to close it. This is really inconvenient because now i have to use pocket ie . Alternatively, is there a hack to make the arrow buttons/d-pad scroll the page instead of the links? Or even better, grab and scroll like in opera? thanks
Why not just use opera mini? I pefer that to opera mobile personally

same, plus opera mini works really well with teh herald.
Well i've never really been able to figure out mini, plus I don't like how it always brings up another window if you want to type in a website address...I've also found that mini unnecessarily takes up a lot of space on the screen and has unusable scroll bars. Also, when I go to live.com on mini, it also shows up in danish or something...
It all depends on the website loaded... My Titan slows down on pages flooded with a zillion images and the like...
That is with a 400Mhz chip...
Thing is, it slows down no matter what you're doing - it froze when I clicked on the address bar to type something a couple times...
also, is there a way to make PIE not scroll by links?
After paying for Opera mobile, I no longer use it. Its just too slow. It's a shame that pIE is faster than OM.

Well i use Opera MObile 9.5.1 beta its very good and its free. I uploaded the cab for you guys.
EDIT: hmmm...upload is not working so i gave the link to the file instead.

I have been running the opera 9.5 that has been floating around these forums that was ripped from the diamond (not the beta from opera's website as it is much buggier), and running it on my wing works great without any lockups at all.
I do have my wing oc'd to 286, but I have tried it at 200 mhz and there wasn't much of a slow down.
its easily faster than opera... runs pretty smooth and i actually enjoy the small scrolling screen they got from the netfront browser as well.

its faster over wifi but I don't think it's as quick over gprs.
Its definitely getting better each release though.
I still use netfronts' simple browsing for things like forums, nothing is a quick as that one..

Try again, they update quite often. I use it sometimes since it can display anything. It has perfect javascript functionality.
I use Opera Mini for common browsing, but when I find a page it has troubles with, Opera Mobile usually has problems too.
Still Opera Mobile is best adapted to screen size and touch controls. Give me Opera Mobile with compatibility of Iris and I will be happy.

Just did. I still don't like it . It feels uncomfortable to work with, and has much less options than the Opera. I keep it installed though, along with other browsers, in case my Opera brakes down hehe.
right now, Iris is only great for Iphone optimized sites... for everything else, Opera is the way to go.

i think you should give ucweb a try. its tiny and it does not require JAVA and its much more funtional than opera mini
its a really good secondary (when on EDGE or 3G) efficient browser.
good 4-min video review http://pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_detail&t=news&id=7232
It is a very good browser, and a fast one. It definitely renders HTML better than Opera Mobile 9.5. It works very good with X1.
My only concern is that when I double tap a page, the zoom is not to 100%, but less. I mean the image I see after a double tap is smaller than if I choose zoom to 100%. Anyone having the same issue?
I use Iris for few months and must say - it's getting better and better. Still it's not a perfect browser - but show me one that is. I'm waiting for update which can allow to watch youtube movies directly from pages like www.pocketnow.com etc. Now for those pages I use Skyfire.
Does it have embedded Flash support, like on desktop browser? Any news on such upcoming feature?
http://www.torchmobile.com/products/faq/
How do I make YouTube work?
YouTube's standard desktop version requires Flash 9 or above. This is not available for Windows Mobile. If you leave the browser in Mobile Mode (Page->View->Mobile Mode in the menu), you can visit YouTube and will be redirected to the mobile edition. If you happen to have the FlashLite 3 ActiveX control installed, Iris Browser will automatically use it and videos should work.
For youtube.com I use Zenyee application. More usefull would be possibility of playing implanted movies on sites. This is possible for now with Skyfire and Mach5 I suppose.
hey guys i've browsed through many opera topics in the rhodium section and i was wondering if you guys could give me your opinions on which version you like the most. here is mine:
Opera 9.5
i havent tested this, but if this is the stock one on the att tilt2, it was only ok if i remember correctly, standard
Opera 9.7
i cant find the turbo setting on the version that i have, otherwise from that, this is my favorite version. its fast and theres no pop up sip. a slight upgrade from 9.5 in terms of extra functions. no rotation from landscape back to portrait (but i have a button assigned to rotate screen) layout is so-so
sip button stays on bottom sometimes in landscape, and bookmarks doesnt work for me...
edit: found the turbo setting on opera:config, dont know if i really need it though (since i have hspda)
Opera 10
POP UP SIP ON LANDSCAPE, i cant stand it, it lags my phone too when it has to pop up the keyboard, otherwise, solid. if i use nullkb then when i use portrait view i have to change the keyboard again, which is very annoying. the new layout is awesome, very nice
Opera Mini 5
CONSTANT SIP whenever u press a box. no matter what orientation, landscape or portrait. not only that, but inputting numbers on landscape is annoying on the tilt 2. and you cant pick your keyboard
please submit your input for the rhodium guys!
I personally like the Opera Mobile 9.7 beta 35432 VGA/WVGA built into the EnergyROM I'm running. I liked it so much, I actually had to install it to a different ROM I tried because I didn't like the built-in Opera 10b2. We may have different opinions, so don't get mad at me!
hey thanks for the response my bay area friend, i'll give it a try
i figured to run the latest release of opera 9.7, so i havent really tested the previous versions. i'll give it a go though, thanks!

For me Opera 10beta 2 is the best for my Rhodium!
Smooth, fast and nice
But have a look here please:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=486502
My favorite is Opera Mini 4.2. I like the button control and the way pushing up and down jumps to links easily. Also right moves down a page and left moves up a page. I hardly ever touch the screen after remapping buttons with Keyboard Controller application. I only use Opera Mobile once in a while but that works fairly well with remapped buttons in version 9.5. Opera mini 5 beta doesn't work as well with buttons.

i've already read that post over and over, and clicked multiple links, i just wanted to know which version rhodium users preferred and why
after some testing:
engadget website loading test: (reset cookies, hist, even RAM)
opera 9.7 35432 - 1.02m
opera 9.7 35432 T - 49s
opera 10 b2 - 1.28m
opera 10 b2 T - 1.05m
so im deducting that opera 9.7 is faster... im just debating on which build, since they're all so close in version numbers... but for now im sticking with 35432
last but not least. opera mini 5b2 is the best browser by far. interface, and dl times. amazing haha

Opera blog post:
http://my.opera.com/chooseopera/blog/2010/09/09/opera-mini-5-1-for-windows-mobile
Opera Mini 5.1 for Windows Mobile is here!
The long-awaited Opera Mini 5.1 for Windows Phone 6.5, Windows Mobile 6, Windows Mobile 5, and Windows Mobile 2003 based handsets has finally arrived. We have worked days and nights to improve on every aspect of the browser and make it integrate even better with the Windows Mobile platform. Some highlights include default browser functionality and a completely rewritten IME solution that taps directly into the device's own input method. A big thanks to all our users on Windows Mobile who have waited so patiently for this release.
NEW FEATURES
- Ability to set Opera Mini as default browser on the device.
- Support for g-sensor screen rotation on HTC and Samsung devices.
- Support for predictive input if the device supports it natively.
- Improved page layout on high-resolution screens.
- Improved kinetic scrolling.
- Use HQVGA skin for devices with less than QVGA resolution.
- Installer is now signed with VeriSign so Opera Mini will be a trusted application on your handset.
- Alternative installer that works on Windows Mobile 2003 Pocket PC devices.
- Advanced configuration in registry for power-users (see here for more information).
BUG FIXES
- Multitap input is working on 'classic' keypad devices.
- Input is working on qwerty keypad devices by Samsung and Amoi.
- Keypad shortcuts working on more devices.
- Ability to download files to memory card.
- Clock in Opera Mini is correct in all time zones now.
- Spanish locale is correctly detected.
- URLs and downloaded files can be passed to other applications as a platform request.
- Many bug fixes in Opera Mini browser core for stability and rendering accuracy.
NOTES
- Opera Mini 5.1 will be installed in parallel with Opera Mini 5.0 beta if the latter is already installed on your device.
- Opera Mini 5.1 will not import existing user data from Opera Mini 5.0 beta. Please consider using Opera Link to bring over bookmarks and speed dials to the new version.
- When set as default browser, Opera Mini 5.1 will not be the default viewer application for html files or other web page related files that may exist locally on your device.
To download Opera Mini 5.1 for Windows Mobile handsets visit http://m.opera.com/ on your phone or http://www.opera.com/mobile/download/pc/ on your PC.

Opera Mini = Amazing
It is much faster and more fluid scrolling than either Skyfire or Opera mobile.
Coming from Android (and iPhone before that) the Hd2 was lacking a great web browsing experience but No More!
OMini 5 beta was nice, but I love the better scrolling in 5.1! I've been using OMini as my browser since my Wizard.

i have always used mini in mobile view but iirc when a page is zoomed out it'll auto zoom to wherever you tap on the page. i don't think there is pinch to zoom.

One wierd thing for me is if I press the home button while in landscape then Opera Mini sticks on the screen and doesnt go away unless I power off the phone. If I press the home button while in portrait its fine and goes away.

No pinch to zoom but all you do is tap on the screen once and it zooms in perfectly.

It's because the HD2 doesn't do landscape for the home tab. Next time you do that, just hit the start menu button & bring back OMini or any other app that does do landscape (sms, albums, file explorer) & then go back to portrait & then hit home. I ran in to this when using Comic Reader Mobi
Does anyone know how clearing the cache memory works on Opera Mini?
On the Opera Mobile browser it would have an option in the security settings to clear cache so the browser wouldnt slow down but I dont see that option on Opera Mini.
Ive done google searches for "opera mini clear cache" but didnt find anything conclusive. Mostly was blackberry users assuming that the clear history option in settings also clears the cache. One person also said the cache gets cleared when you exit the browser?
Does anyone with alot of Opera experience know how clearing the cache works on Opera Mini?

Do you like the 5 mini, and why?
I've set it as default for it a week. Yes it loads faster, and the 9-grid home screen thumbnails looks better than the HD2 2-column thumbnails. I'm however switching back to the stock Opera 9.7 now. Things I don't like about Opera Mini 5:
Full screen or not, it hides my top bar, and together with it my battery indicator, clock, close button. I can't easily launch anything else or switch to another running program.
no way to minimize browser to go back to where I was
Really hates the complicated seqeunce to close the browser with the mandatory yes/no.
I can't find a way to add search providers to the search box. Well I can't modify the Opera google search either, but Opera Mini has an interface to look as if it can be configured (at least I can delete entries other than google) while not allowing me to add new entries.
force chinese language upon me. I have no idea why but all my settings are in chinese and I cannot find a way to get back to english.
Are there ways to circumvent this list of annoyances?
Does anybody know where I can find documentation on Opera Mini? I've found documentation on Opera, but they do not seem applicable to Opera Mini.

that's what the back button is for. this doesn't do like OMobile where the back button actually goes back a page

Argh
I wanted to love Opera Mini. I love the quick zoom/scroll effects.
BUT after using it for a few days I've found annoyances that keep it from being a better browser than Opera Mobile.
- Certain websites take FOREVER to load (some sites load quicker than Opera Mobile i.e. Google searches, but Xda loads slllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllooooooooooowwww)
- Certain websites dont work correctly and doesn't go to the next page when I click the link
- Can't log into certain websites like I can with Opera Mobile
- When I try to reply to XDA threads it reloads the entire page after I type something in the reply box.
- Cant clear cache memory like I can with Opera Mobile
- Cant exit Opera Mini in landscape by pressing home button since it locks up the phone
- Cant use physical back button to go back a page like you can with Opera Mobile
Oh well...
I like Opera mini too as it is a lot smoother than opera mobile. I do have one issue though:
When you enter a url, it will automatically load the mobile version if available. Not all the mobile site have a link back to their full web site so it is impossible to go to a normal page for some sites.
