I've read tons of posts on here about flashing the Wing and I've still be unable to flash it correctly, during the flash it will get some type of ITWRITE error then my phone will have a box on the screen that says error unknown status, I let it sit then my pdocwrite pops up that error and then it will lose the USB connection to the computer and be locked up then I have to RUU it to make it work again, SPL is 4.28.0001, I'm just trying to put some new firmware on it to make it run better than the stock t-mobile firmware, all these posts are here are confusing me on what to do because some are outdated or I'll read one thing then something else I'll read contradicts itself, can someone point me in the right direction, I know that you have guides and things but half of them are outdated and I'm not even sure what the latest firmware is for things like OpenTouch and what not, I wish someone would clean up all the old posts so we don't have quite as much to dig through. Any help would be appreciative.
you're trying to flash using aserg's method, which is painfully outdated and you've got an SPL of more than 4, so you should just go ahead and HardSPL.
in the windows mobile world, NEVER read the outdated stuff, especially on xda-devs. somebody always asks some question that requires one of us to go back into the deep recesses of our memory, and that kind of question usually happens pretty often. Most answers are either really specialized or there is already thread on the topic on the first or second page of the forum.
now to answer your question. Do not touch the cable while flashing. When it says to unplug it, do so and then hard reset. Make sure you install the cabs before you start pdocwrite.
welcome to xda-devs. feel free to pm me any questions.
If I've already done the hardspl using Aserg-Hard-Spl.4.70.yan, and I'm trying to put Open Touch v6.1 Lite on my Wing, do I use the Herald-USPL-Beta3 method, I've got Open Touch v3.0 on my phone now but want to see if I like Open Touch v6.1 any better..
Nevermind I figured it out, followed the updated flashing guide.

I just got a TMobile MDA, and am brand new to this. I tried upgrading thru TMo site, but couldn't get Windows Mobile 6.0. Still have ROM 2.26.10.2; Radio 02.25.11; ExtROM 2.26.10.105. Anyway, I tried SNN Ver 2.o off of this site and it wouldn't upgrade. Any help from anyone before I start looking through site. Just looking for direction and a helping hand before I fry my MDA. Thanks to one and all. Looking forward to making great use of the site.!!!

You will need to make sure that your phone is unlocked before you can proceed with any upgrades to wm6
Check out the Wizard Wiki also - lots of great info
Remember - you are on your own, you are responsible for any issues with your phone. But, if you read the sticky posts here, and on the wm6 wizard board - the directions, while extremely detailed - are right on.
Read, understand, and when you are ready to proceed - do not skip a step, and if the directions tell you to flash something, or upgrade something twice - it is for a reason - do it twice.
Good luck
mucho thanks
Much appreciated. Don't know if phone is unlocked, but like you said ... will read everything twice. Thanks alot. One more thing ... can you guide me to info on how to find out if fone unlocked ... or how to do so. Once again, thanks. Looking forward to using the info.

You can find the tool here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=329170
You install it on your pc - and it will read and diagnose your phone through the usb connection.
Read through the attached post - lots of info, download the file - and good luck
actually i bought the phone from ebay and it didn't come with sync cable its 8125 from at&t is there another way to unlock it somehow maybe. Please help me
You can't upgrade without the usb cord and a computer (you can, but it is far more difficult.
First you need the USB cord
Then You need "Wizard Service tool" Type that in to the search engine on this forum.
Then read the stickies (the ones at the top of every forum) related to the wizard
hint: Faria; Dr. Puttingham.
Then search wor the "Wizard service manual" which will explain how your the wizard works and has IMPORTANT information for you in case you screw up and have to put your Wizard into bootloader mode manualy. You can still recover even if it looks really bad.
Then you need the lockwiz tool that works. I'm not sure that the wizard serice tool will unlock the phone, I did it the hard way before discovering it.
Then you need a version of WM5 that has a hacked IPL and SPL 1.5.xxx (you willl find that in the upgrading and modifying thread on the wizard forum
Once you downgrade; you can use the WST(maybe) or Lockwiz (most likely) to unlock your device (you may have to run it twice or more if you are not paying enough attention)
After the phone is unlocked you should upgrade back to the 2.26 version (Tmobile rom)
Then you should know how to flash roms by then.
Getting the thing unlocked is the difficult part. The cooks make flashing easy. You will probably not be able to yse your device for about a day while you make sure that you follow all the steps making sure that you get it right.
also read all of the directions well. I know it is a lot of information and can be hard to swallow. idoubt that you will "Brick" your wizard. It might seem that way at times; especialy while you are flashing the rom as it take a long pause sometimes right in the middle of it and it's scarry. You should be able to recover just fine. (I have a TMo MDA and it was built far better than I think HTC intended to build it)
Lastly. Take the plunge when you are confident that you have all of the tools, Information, and contingency plans (such as the 2.26 version of tmobile rom)
Word of advice while you are looking for an upgrade: All ROMs have "issues" so if you read all of the posts on a rom that looks good to you, you will see that a lot of people are complaining, asking for improvements and so on. This is what you should use to chose what you want to put into your phone. If you start a thread "which is the best Rom? expecting that the information will come to you; you won't get far. I know that my "join date" says one thing, but I have been looking at this forum since august off and on to see if I should even make an attempt or open my mouth before I figured out how things work here. Heard a preecher say once "God helps those who help them selves" and while I'm not partcularly religious, I have to agree with that kind of policy.
good luck, and don't panic if something unexpected happens; in about a half hour you will figure out how to fix it... unless you panic and loose your head.
Some dude was threatening to "throw (his) phone into a wall." That's not very productive.
To unlock through lokiwiz02b tool,it must have direct physical connection between phone and pc via Activesync. Although, its possible to Activesync with BT(BlueTooth),but not sure if unlocking is possible, according to my understanding,it shud be possible,as all the data can be transfered and all the info can be exchanged via BT,there shudn't be a problem, but as I have never tried it myself,I can't be sure, its certainly not possible to flash a Rom with BT.Rom is flashed in Bootloaders mode only, and in bootloaders,Bt doesn't work,so flashing of rom is only possible via usb cable connectivity.
Cheers!
Everyone keeps saying "the USB cord" when the actuality is, "A(ny)" USB cord will suffice. Any USB to 5-Pin (Mini B) is fine. You should be able to score one from a local electronics source for less than $10 US. Considering their value to you (being able to use ActiveSync, being able to flash the phone), I'd say it is a sound investment in your future fun with the phone.
Here's a (linked) example:
Alright, I've been in the process of trying to flash the ROM on my Vogue. I've been doing this over at PPCGeeks, and thought I try my luck for help with good people of xda.
Here is the comment I posted over there:
Alright, I've been reading and reading, can't find the answer, so hopefully someone can give me a detailed answer.
I ran the unlocker, to flash on OMJ Vogue ROM, with the Rev-A and GPS capabilities. During the process when the HTC ROM updater came on, the device wouldn't reconnect (I tried about 5 times, hard reset and starting from scratch). After waiting at the updater for about 10 minutes, I hit next and this time, as mentioned above, it said it was replacing the ROM image, but was blank. Meanwhile my phone is on the bootloader reading SPL-2.00.CoKe, after the updater went through the process, all of a few seconds, it performed the hard reset.
Now I have entered the bootloader to see SPL-2.31.CoKe, even after two hard resets, one being the auto, and one manual. The phone starts as it should, but once I turn it off, it won't power back on. I believe I saw a fix for this, but can't remember.
My biggest questions are, what can I do now? Is this normal, and I should continue to flash from here?
Anybody here know what I can do?
Thanks!
Here is a good place to start:

or even the entire Vogue subforum.
Wow, thanks junior, this is a bit more of a specific question.
Sounds like you did not do the radio upgrade that is necessary. I agree though, posting in a forum that is specific to your device/problem is best. And, I know for a fact, that there are numerous threads/posts on this subject at ppcgeeks.

That's the problem though, I couldn't even get to the radio part yet. I think the issue was with the reconnecting the device to ActiveSync, during the unlocking proccess?
Now, is there a way to complete this step through an SD card. Using ImCokeMan's 2.31 Vogue unlocker.
I went through the exact same thing, they're right about the radio
Use the official leaked sprint rom, it's an exe. Run it and flash. Then, DON'T LET IT BOOT UP!!! Immieaditely put it back in CoKe, and flash your desired ROM. When the vogue first starts up, it should say under those numbers that pop up R 3.37.15

Awesome, I'm glad someone here has knowledge on this ! Ok, but from this point, the device has been hard reset, still with it showing the SPL as 2.31.CoKe, so from here should I run the Radio exe, it seems that I never finished the first step, which is completeing the unlocker tool, is this normal?

i am new to all this flashing and everything... so i have a lot of questions
1. what is the best os to work with my HTC WING? vista, xp, or leopard?
2. what is the best software to backup my sms messages?(free recommended)
3. i tried using the program included, the RUU.exe, but it mostly returns either error 202, or 260.. i read how to fix them, i tried many times, made sure my phone was connected to the computer, restarted my phone, restarted my computer, but every time, my phone goes to a certain screen where it displays a red, green, blue and white box in that order. on it it says "IPL 4.10.002" and "SPL 4.10.0000".. im guessing this is bootloader mode? and the other screen is a blank white screen.
i tried the following methods

they all seemed to fail for some reason, or they didnt apply to what i was doing..
4. is there any easier way to install wm6.1 and all those addons?
5. do i have to install a hardspl? can you tell me which is the best to use since im a newb at this?

I'm gonna sound rude here, but I have to second you on this !
Poster, I forget your name, but, judging by your lack of knowledge, you have some research you need to do on YOUR own time. We are not a free technical support team that will spend the time teaching you:
What a ROM is.
What the Radio is.
How to unlock your phone.
How to enter bootloader.
Define a .nbh file.
Explain flashing.
Explain the RUU.
All steps necessary to flash.
What not to do.
How to fix it, if you do something wrong.
What you can do wrong.
What you need to do.
Define "flash".
Define "bricked".
You need to read up, and I mean READ. Before you attempt doing this, you should be able to think of yourself as an "expert" of some sort.
This can damage your phone, will void your warranty, and from looking at your post, you will probably brick your phone.
i know what a rom is
i know what radio is
my phones already unlocked
i got what ruu is
i know what flashing is
and i know what bricking is
i just need easy solutions.. currently im trying to install hardspl from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296722
however i tried twice, and both times i got error 260.. but my phone is properly connected to my computer and connected to activesync
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398571
is there an easier way to install hardspl because i keep on getting error 260, even though activesync and windows mobile device center says "connected".. cant i install hardspl through cab files?

Hi Everyone
I have been trying for days and reading through all of these forums trying to work out why I can't load a new OS onto my HTC Touch HD. I have followed all of the instructions on this forum and all I can get as far as is downloading the new ROM and trying to install it and it gets to 0% on both the phone and the ROM Flash utility and then error's out.
I am really tired of having Telstra crap on my phone as I am not with them anymore and want to change all my settings but I can't as it is programming with all this crap in my phone and nothing can be changed.
Could some really nice kind people out there help me out before I give up and throw this really good nice phone out.
Have you read this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505377
What spl is currently showing on your phone and did you use uspl or hspl? Please post any further question in the thread linked above.
Try this guide. It's pretty easy to follow and you shouldn't encounter any problems.
As you have mentioned that while you run the flash Utility, it stops at 0%, therefore, it should eventually provide you with some type of error code - see this link as it lists error codes and possible resolutions when attempting to flash a rom with the RUU:

Note: make sure you have Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 (SP1) installed before you try again.
Hello members of XDA forum,
I seem to have a little problem currently, and have in fact had this problem for around 2 week's now, with tinkering for a total of around 10-15 hours to try install android onto my HTC HD2 phone.
I have recently been given a HD2 from a family member as they have receive a upgrade in there contract and decided to let me have a updated phone (as long as it text's rings and can check emails/facebook it's a great phone to me)
Now i have currently tried following multiple guides around to get me into the zone for starting to get used to installing android, but without any luck, i have mainly been trying to do the steps from this guide " How to Install Android on HTC HD2 – Android 4.0.4 " search on google.
But so far i haven't had any luck, and to be totally honest i have no idea why, i have great computer knowledge but this is seriously confusing me right at the moment, and I'm really tempted to just give in and go back to a outdated stock android phone, but i have put countless hour's into learning this. (attempting to)
Now the reason i wish to update from windows 6.5 is because market place and apps are no longer supported which is not good for my facebook/email need's and i really need to try and get a updated version of co-pilot for my motorbike which is why i want to upgrade to this phone.
Tonight i have spent 3 hour's following that guide, and i think i got as fair as i ever have, it all seem'd to install great, but when the phone booted up it was just like a animated screen saver and not doing anything at all apart from that, i have managed to get stock 6.5 windows on the phone around 12 times now? and still try to find updated detailed yet EASY to read guides, i have used the search bar on the forums but it seem's people have different problems, if some-one could throw me towards a good guide it would be amazing, i have tried nano i think, but wouldn't mind using a SD card to boot it off if that is alot easier/simpler, i'm really sorry if this does get asked alot but i have searched multiple times to try find a solution.
If no one has the time to try at help me out it's quite understandable due to the fact this is rather confusing to some-one who is new to the scene. but if some-one can help and would advise a different android version with a guide for that, that would be amazing.
I will check back and attempt again regardless in 18 hour's.
Thanks and regard's
Aaron.
Hi and welcome,
I would suggest making a short version of your post. That is a lot of text, without very useful information.
What useful information? Read below:
Which version of HSPL do you have?(Boot up the phone while holding volume down, it says there)
What radio are you on? (You can find this at the bottom left of the screen when booting up the phone. Or alternatively, you can find it after booting into Windows Mobile, in the settings)
Which bootloader have you tried using? ((MAGLDR or cLK) How to know? MAGLDR has a black screen with about 12 options to choose from. And it says aMAGLDR at the top. Otherwise you have cLK)
Are you using DataOnExt? (When installing the ROM, did you choose such option?) (And if you do, do you have the proper partitions on your sd card?)
As a beginning, I will advise you to follow a guide I wrote last year. The guide is rather easy and straightforward if you have the prerequisites already. Click here for the guide.
