Hi guys
Just a quick question and I hope you guys can answer me.
I have got the MDA Vario with T-Mobile and have upgraded the ROM to 2.17.7.2 WWE (this is the Qtek Rom) and it works just great.
My question is, however, can I downgrade this ROM to the original T-Mobile ROM it came with?
I am wondering since I want to send the phone back to T-Mobile but am worried if they see I have upgraded it they will not take it back.
Please help.
Thanks kindly
You'll need to use lokiwiz to unlock the device and then reinstall the opriginal ROM. As you have an AKU2 ROM you'll need to downgrade the ROm first to an old custom QTEk ROM and then run lokiwiz to unlock then re-install the ROM. There s along post on this forum or the upgrade forum on how to do this. There are alos posts re putting the device back into it's original state if you need to ship it back to a vendor - can't find them just now but would suggest you trawl the forums... painful though it may be
Hey thanks loads. I have looked around to try and find how to restore everything but can't find it yet. I'll carry on looking but if you can suddenly remember where they are I'd appreciate it
Also, do I have to downgrade the QTek ROM first, or can I just install the T-Mobile ROM straight away?
Thanks again

Does it matter that the link above looks like it is for US? I have UK T-Mobile
DaveyG th solution is explained at http://forum.xda-developers.com/vie...IBwAAABi/2UG&bcsi_scan_filename=viewtopic.php
If you want a TMo UK ROM got ot the TMo UK Site http://t-mobile.iris-global.com/mdas.html
Thanks JoninLA, the phone is unlocked using Loki already as that is how I upgraded the ROM, but I will make sure I have unlocked it and then install the original ROM from the T-Mobile site.
Thanks so much again, now I should be able to send it back, providing it all works...
Sorry for asking stupid question....I searched on this forum, couldnt find answers.
I read on official HTC site, that after I upgrade to WM6, I cannot downgrade to WM5 anymore.
I found many customized ROM here (WM6), if I used that ROM, can I downgrade to WM5 after some times?
thx
Of course you can ...
how is that done, do you just overwrite everything with the standard HTC ROM or do you have to delete the Hard SPL and radio upgrades first?
You can do, but once you have WM6 you will not what too...
May be an idea to keep a copy off your orginial rom,
incase you want the exact same one back...

Well, I know how to flash the ROM on my Qtek 9100, but I don't find the WM6 in english for it. I know the question must be redoundant, but the information is not easy to find while I already carefully searched for it before posting.
I'm ready to bet that there must be a tutorial for downloading the ROM of WM6 for Qtek 9100. But I have not found it. That's why I'm asking.
I have not found the official WM6 ROM for the Qtek 9100. If someone could upload it, it would be nice.
Cheers.

There is no tutorial that illustrates how to download WM6 for the wizard. Its a bit self explanatory considering there is a WM6 forum for the wizard with lots of releases as well as a wiki for the wizard that contains an awful lot of important information.
The closest thing to an official rom for the wizard is known as 'ingenetics' rom.
Good Luck

Unless I'm mistaken, just about every WM6 Rom here is in english. For example:
ALL NBD Roms
ALL TNT Roms
ALL Black Diamond Roms
Look around, Read, Learn, Flash, Enjoy!
Are you sure these roms will work on the qtek 9100?
I have not found these roms on the ftp site. Where are they?
Cheers.
Fred.
When I posted the first link I really meant to reccommend you to read, read and read first - but I did not mean it personally at all.
Sorry, but if you haven't been able to find any WM6 ROM in this Wizard forum yourself yet, I seriously doubt you know how to flash (non-official) ROMs ..
therefore I strongly advice you to start reading the wiki and the sticky threads on top of the forum first (as the other members also suggested in their posts above) and to understand the steps before flashing otherwise there is a high risk to brick you wizard.
Again, the links to the reading are given in the other thread as well.
Good luck!
I have found NON official ROMs on the wiki.
But no official ROMs of WM6.
What I'm looking for is just an official WM6 for Qtek 9100. That's why I'm asking.
It's not the sea to drink or reach the moon...
Best regards.
Fred.
There aren't any, so you'll have to settle for unofficial ones.
ah, ok.
That's too bad
So installing WM6 on a qtek 9100 is not that "leagal" right?
Or maybe some one has posted a ROM with WM6 somewhere and doesn't yell on each roof
error 300 invalid update tool
Hi
I receive this error when trying to update from WM5 to WM6
I have tried several WM6-roms and all of them end up with the same message
In my Qtek9100 I have IPL 2.17 and SPL 2.17. Language is swedish.
Where to find a newer update tool? The tool in all update files is from 2005-11-21
regards hasse
Hi,
I have the same IPL as you (2.17) so it's a G3 qtek.
At least you aleardy have found WM6 roms.
As I mentionned, I'm looking for an english official WM6 ROM...
It seems to be not obvious to get
Why do you want the official one so badly? If you want it that badly, perhaps you should purchase a new device with WM6 already installed?
Now using Black Diamond!
I have a Qtek 9100...people here call it a Wizard (HTC Wizard). There is no official WM6 rom for the wizard (OEMs have never been keen on upgrades to these devices, they want you to buy a new one. The upgrades they DO release are for THEIR purposes (make them more money), not necessarily to make your phone work better). All of the unofficial roms for the Wizard will work on the Qtek 9100. My Wizard (Qtek 9100) works SOOOOO much better with an UNOFFICIAL WM6 rom than it EVER did with the factory WM5 rom. My advice is to quit worrying about official or unofficial, and learn how to flash your phone so you can improve its performance. Believe me, the corporations that release official roms don't care as much about the performance of your phone as the rom cookers in this forum do. The corporations just want money, the rom cookers just want their Phones to work better.
Qtek Htc 9100 Upgrading Rom

You can use the Sdcard method to backup your present Rom using the 'Mtty' and 'r2sd all' command, but remember, only OS will be backed up and not all the applications/programs or your personal settings will not be backed up.Search for the 'Sdcard' backup method in the forum or check out this thread :-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=276963
However,to upgrade a G4 phone, read the 'HardSPL' and 'SoftSPL' methods as 'Stickies' in the G4 forum.
I have found no working link for RUU_Herald_HTC_WWE_5.4.405.1_4.1.13.34_02.79.90_Ship including link given at WIKI. I have googled for above ROM but still no working link.
I need above ROM as i need to go back on official WM5 ROM of mine (from WM6) before installing TOUCH IT. Any help???
Not exactly what you requested but close enough

I am already using your mentioned ROM. I have tried HARD SPL and WM6_Hard_SPL.rar. I have also tried BETA3 USPL. I recieve connectivity errors though I am able to run same WM6 RUU (Ship version) successfully. In WIKI its mentioned among known problems that
UPGRADING TO WM6 FROM WM6
(PLEASE DELETE LINE IF CONFIRMED)
Not sure if this is a known\common issue but when you are upgrading from a cooked WM6 ROM to another cooked WM6 ROM you must first downgrade to WM5 otherwise you will get hung at the first boot loader screen
Weird, if your SPL is at least 4.xx.xx the HardSPL ROM should work fine with you. I flashed from original German O2 WM6 ROM to HardSPL WM6 ROM. Then I flashed to latest HTC German WM6 ROM (for a clean base) and from there to any available custom ROM.
Thats what i am unable to understand. It gives me connection error 202 on PC as soon as it goes to BOOT loader. I have seen a few other users making same complaint in HARD SPL thread of olpiro.
I have connection problems too, and they were fixed by uninstalling activesync, then redownloading it from the MS website.

Resolved
Thanks Issue has been Resolved via USPL and TOUCH IT.

Thanks man ! have a good day !
this is not good rom!
Hi gents
I havnt played with a WinMo phone since I had a Motorola Windows Mobile 2003 phone.
I have a UK O2 Branded HTC HD2, currently with ROM 1.43.206.4 WWE and Radio 2.04.50.22.2
I have ran HSPL ready for any cooked ROMs i might fancy
However, I am wondering if it is possibly to backup the current O2 rom incase i need to go back to it..restoring it to facotry settings if you will.
Is this possible?
Also, will an official ROM update both rom and radio and anything else ?
Thanks alot !
Hello,
As far as I am aware you can't backup a rom in the way I think you mean, ie if it all goes pear shaped you would like to restore the o2 rom from scratch.
If you search around (look in the wiki, not been there for a while) you might find an o2 rom in the repository. If so then you can copy it somewhere ready for if/when you need to "burn" it back in.
Unless you have a particular reason or lurve for the o2 rom you could just use the standard HTC rom if ever you needed to go back to a stock rom.
I take it you have read the threads on here about using roms, etc?
WB
Answer to your other questions: an official rom will update rom and radio. However if you use Bepe's SPL method then that only updates the rom (his method is good for updating cooked roms).
You can also use the goldcard method to update official roms and radio's only Or go onto HTC's site and do it from there). Best bet is to go and have a really good read of these threads and get to thoroughly understand the subject matter including the risks!.
