Hi,
As we all know when GSM module is ON green led blinks green. Is it possible somehow to shut it down without entering off-line GSM mode ? I can't see such option so maybe via registry keys?
sorry for mysterious title of this thread but i had no better idea :]
could see if this works

maybe you can find a way to map the green and red phone button to the two soft keys we now have a the button of the screen,
i always push those buttons, it makes me think i'm using a phone,
forgetting it's a touch screen
recall somebody saying that those 2 buttons was hardwired to the gsm part of the phone and that CE had no control over them
but i guess he could have been wrong since they are locked by button lock
but then if the phone does ring they can make you pick up the phone without typing in your password
Red and green buttons are not hardwired to GSM module.
They are usual hardware buttons processec by system in a specific way.
While working on AEKMap I was able to unbind these buttons from WinCE. And I think that may write simple app to "unbind" them. But what the reason for this application?
1. not all of the programs will detect this key because it is out of "conventional" range
2. How you will answer phone calls without green button?
Hi AE,
Is there any way that you could release the source showing how your unmapped the phone buttons, or at least give us a few hints?
It really is an art that you have mastered, something that very few people have been able to do (outdside of the OS development labs, and we never see those results)!
There are nothing special in this application.
Just calls to
UnregisterHotKey(), UnregisterFunc1 and RegisterHotKey() - if you just need hint The only hint is UnregisterFunc1 - but it is also described in number of places (just ask Google) Hope, this will work in WM2005 also.
I suggest to do it another way. Today I "downgrade" my BlueAngel to Andes And now I should count my HW buttons again  Lets wait some days - and probably I'll make some solution specially for Himalaya/Andes, taking into account your "red/green wishes" At least it will work on WM2003, but I see no problems for Magneto also.
I will post report in this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=115430
P.S.: Please try to run program attached here to check if it hooks red and green buttons and let me know the results. You will need to soft-reset your device to restore normal HW buttons functionality
Unhooking the red and green buttons would definitely be useful for us with a Magician, since it has very few hardware buttons. You could still answer a phone call by clicking Answer when the dialog appears.

The left-upper green led on my Wizard is always and continously on for some reasons since a few weeks. Does anyone known how this could have happened and (even better) how to turn it off?
Thanks!!
That sound to me like you have WiFI turned on.
I dont know why it should be on continuously as it normally flashes.
Just check that you have both Bluetooth and WiFI turned off in the comm manager.
Sounds simple I know but sometimes...........................
Wifi is off (upper right, my erronous led is upper left)
Bluetooth is off
Pushmail is off
thanks for the answer though. any other suggestions?

Thats strange! When I turn my WiFI on, my upper left led flashes green, if I turn bluetooth on, that same upper led flashes blue.
The right hand led's on mine are as follows.
Green Flash = normal operation
Orange constant = charging
Orange flash = missed call or message
Don't know why yours should be different.
I have uploaded a scan from my user guide.
WM5torage uses the LEDs to indicate disk activity. If you have used it recently, and forgoten to turn off USB mode, the LED may stay lit in "ready" mode. May be worth checking to see if that's active...
If that's not the case, it may be that the PDA still thinks that it's plugged in and receiving charge (I think there's a variable that's normally changed, that might not have been set to "charging = false" or whatever it is. Might be wrong, someone correct me if I am.
If neither of these things are the cause of the problem, then sorry, can't think of anything else...
I don't think I've ever used WM5torage (never heard of it until now) and the phone has been turned on and off several times.
any other ideas?
What happens when you soft reset?
Does it come back on IMMEDIATELY at the boot loader screen?
Or does it come on once Windows Mobile loads all the way up?
This could tell you if it's a hardware problem or software problem.
Good thinking:
It comes back on IMMEDIATELY at the boot loader screen.
hardware issue: what can I do about it? return it to vendor, but then i'll be without my phone for a month (again). can i disable the led? other ideas?
Is there an application which control the blinking lights in XDA IIs? I find it annoying to see blinking green, red and blue lights.
one way, which was working under wm5 is to change the registry entries...
To turn off the Blue LED from coming on with Bluetooth go to:
1. Hkey_Local_Machine/Drivers/Builtin/BWLEDMGR
1a. Change the Index value below it to "0" it is currently set to "1
Soft Reset and the Blue LED will not turn on.
Here is a revised procedure for turning the Green LED off. Cabrio came up with this.
2. To keep the Green LED from flashing or coming on at all go to
Hkey_Local_Machine/Drivers/Builtin/NLEDMGR leave the dll name as NLEDMgr.dll
2a. Change the Index value below it to "0" it is currently set to "1".
This seems to completely shut off the LED and keeps it from getting called up.
Make sure you soft reset after making the reg. change.
the other way is to use tweaks 2k2
http://www.tweaks2k2.com/portal/index.php
it was working under wm5 too...haven't tried it on wm6yet...cuz i simply like the leds and think it's useful...
Thanks nyuzsi. Will try that out.
you are welcome...
How do i remove the blinking wifi connection?

Hello everyone - I'm new to this forum, and the world of Windows-powered phones in general. Still figuring out what my new Touch 3G (Jade) can really do!
One question to start with - in the old days, my Ericsson T68i flashed the green LED occasionally to let me know it was still switched on. Is there any way to get the Jade to do this?
I'm wondering the same thing and still figuring this out. Wish the manual was more helpful.
What I've learned so far is the LED if off under normal operation. It flashes green when there's a missed call or SMS waiting to be read. No LED for Bluetooth On. That's as far as I know.
I'm disappointed about missing network coverage led, missing bluetooth and gps led status...But i'm wondering, if i take a closer look at my jade it seems to be 2 leds, i'm wrong?
The "second one" is a light detector . Did you notice automatic backlight setting?
Jade does not flash for GSM, BT, WiFi, GPS. It only flashes for reminders, missed calls and messages.
But actually, I like it more. If I see LED flashing, there is something which needs my attention. You can see the active networks on the display status area.
There is flashing for battery low status as well

Translate from a Dutch device:
Go to Settings => Sounds
Click Advanced
Click Tab: Notifications
And there you can set your Touch 3G aka Jade flash for diverent notifications.
In the top pull-down menu choose wathever you want and then select if you want a screennotification and/or a flashing LED.
Sincerely,
I cant understand.Where is that setting for the LED ?
When you've reached the menu Tom pointed out, just use the pull down menu tha'ts next to 'event' (translated from dutch, anyway...first line) for lets say 'new text message' there you can choose if you want to use the led and/or the notification on your screen.

Anyone knows if the green light can be flashed when in Stand-by mode?
Really want to make it flashes since it's hard to tell if it's in stand by mode or switched off...

I'm not really sure if the LED can be flashed when in standby mode, I think the reason for this is to make the battery life longer
Thx for your reply.
I'm still looking for a solution to make the light flashes when stand by...
It's really hard to tell if it's in Stand-by or switch off...
Can't find any clue with the Registry...
Hope there's a solution...
led
Did you perform a word search in the registry
try a search on "led" maybe you can find some keys
Maybe nueLED could help.
Search it in the forum.
I just found that when my A500 is screen off, the power button's led will light up for every ten seconds, just like the power button on a PC when it is in sleep mode.
I don't know if this is normal and the user manual didn't mention about that! Does any one also have this happening? Thanks!
Hello, I was wondering the same thing. I just saw in another thread a post from the member erica_renee saying that this means the tablet is asleep but an app is awake and accessing the net.
However, I'm still unable to find a f-- way to disable that LED completely and once and for all! Any help with that?
OK guys.
D/load the service guide from here. THIS SHOULD HAVEHIS INFO IN IT.
