Adding Item to the Today Screen - Mogul, XV6800 General

I have the 6800 from Alltel and I downloaded a different calendar application to use, ThumbCal. I would like to put in on the main screen where the stock calendar was. Can somebody please help me?

settings/ today/ items it should be in that box of checkable items

The new calendar app does not appear as an option in the today settings.

use an icon to launch it
use ultimate launch/claunch/rltoday or any other today modifying app. The stock today screen sucks anyway

Calendar Issues

I recently switched from XDAII to a TYTN.
Until now, no problems exept the calendar.
If I have like three appointments the next day, the device only shows me a maximum of two on the start screen, where on my XDAII the list was unlimited . Pretty annoying cause I'm used to see all of them when I switch my XDAII on and have an immediate overview.
Is it possible to change a setting so the calendar goes directly to the month lay out? Now I always have to toggle up via day, week, month or go via menu, view...
Also, if there are two appointments on the start screen and I tap on them, the device will always go to the "oldest" appointment.
Any settings I could change?
Thanks
No reply because it's so obviously simple or nobody knows..?
Anyone?
Come on guys, give me a tip here.
I did the normal stuff like going to start>settings>today>Items>calendar but then the "options" button is not available so I can't activate the "show all apointments".
What is a recently good and stable program to add programs/shortcuts on the today screen?
I looked into Claunch but that site is so old...

I gave up on the OS Calendar today screen - no matter what options I selected, it would only display 1 day at a time... so I use PocketBreeze now... it very configurable, looks good, works well and seems compatible to WM6!

Not sure about the calendar issues.
Claunch may be old but it's a good one.
I use Wisbar Advance used in conjunction with Wisbar Advance Desktop. Can also be used for those cool customisations as well. Also permits multiple desktops so you can spread out your icons and plugins over several pages to save clutter. each desktop can be customised differently.

Calender bug with month view

Hello, does anyone has the same the problem as me:
I manually set the calendar to default to month view. However when I tap on calendar in TF3D it opens it up to today's agenda. It does however start in Month view but then will snap immediately to todays view.
It is probably probably a bug from HTC (because when you disable TF3D it works, you have the month view).
I would be very grateful if any of you could help me to fix this bug.
idem here
Got the same problem. I'm currently using (ROM) SwiftBL Diamond ROM 7.5 Full [16MBPP].
Yes, it happens, with any ROM I've tried. Pretty annoying...
for the millionth time people....
A. use the search, this topic has been disgussed in at least 10 other threads¬
B. this is NOT a bug, HTC MEANT IT TO BE LIKE THIS. when you open the calender from TF3D it will always open it in the AGENDA view as the home page of TF3D is designed to show you appointments and activities for the day you are in!
Why dont you try this..
Open the calender from the Programs list and not from TF3D... it opens it in the default you have set it to right?
The only workaround is to pin the calender to the start menu or the TF3D programs list and open it from there.
NOW PLEASE NO MORE THREADS ABOUT THIS...
... AND NOW IM ONTO MY GRIPE WHICH IS PEOPLE THAT WANT TO OPEN THE FM RADIO WITHOUT THE HEADSET..... IDIOTS, WHILE THEY ARE AT IT THEY SHOULD TURN THEIR TV ON WITHOUT THE AREAL PLUGGED IN!!!
Try Dutty's rom release, he "fixed" this problem. it's bloody awesome

what a negative post...whats up with people losing their cool so easily..
personally, EVEN if HTC meant it this way, i dont find it useful for my use. I would rather open it directly from my home tab without having to go to the start menu or program list.
Maybe there is a registry tweak or editing in the manila to make it load a certain page at startup
If duttys rom takes care of it proves that its possible to be fixed

calendar not opening in the correct view

No matter what I setting I use under what type of calendar view to show me when the calendar is first opened, it always shows the agenda view.
The weird thing is that at first it does open to whatever the setting is (for example week or month), and then in a split second it switches to agenda view. I have to manually tap until the desire view appears.
The setting still remains on "week" but the program still shows the agenda.
I also have this issue.
My device is the HTC Touch HD (by O2 Germany).
But if you start the calendar from the start menu, it will display correctly the selected view.
Any ideas how to fix this?
Same issue here - most annoying!
guys
Are you taping on an event on the home screen (TFlo3d) ? (as in how are you starting it )

yes, there is an upcoming event. Nevertheless, it shouldn't open the agenda view by default.
Hmm, after starting this thread, now I am wondering if that is just the way it works. I hadn't realized that opening the calendar from the Start menu does open it in the correct/desired view.
Do you guys remember if from the home screen it always opened to the agenda? Or did it used to open to the desired view?
I'm doubtful now - can't remember if maybe it always worked this way.
Hi,
I think it's supposed to work this way. When you open it from the Today Screen it always uses this view, hence the name: Today Screen

Rolf
Well there is a solution for Pocket informant
check out wiki

SSMaPa:
Now I am sure that the default Calandera has options as well but not sure what they are not werr to find them.
Calendar
Definitely:
When opening from Today, it always opens Agenda view.
When opening from Start -> Programs -> Calendar opens as ordered in Tools -> Options.
Doesn't like it, let's hope for a Registry hack.
Rgds,
This annoyed me too... It does indeed seem to be an issue with Touch Flo 3d, and the calendar link on the Today screen being set to always start the calendar in day view.
So, supposed this is a Touch Flo issue rather than a Windows Mobile issue, I made a little google search and came up with the following from htcwiki.com:
http://www.htcwiki.com/page/Start+Calendar+in+Month+View
I haven't tried it myself yet (past my bedtime as it is ), but will probably do so tomorrow. It seems like a simple enough operation. The instructions are for setting the calendar to month view as default, but I guess changing the parameter from "vm" to "vw" would set it to week mode. That seems logical, right?
Use the search funtionality.
You need the file ssmapa.exe
With that you can modify the manile.exe entry which is overruling the wm setting.
search and you will find.
or when you need someone else to do it for you.... link

I tried the ssmapa. It did not link correctly so I did a full restore. However, in my home page, the calendar now only shows a link "Calendar" but does not show the calendar items. It used to show my two or three of my schedules in the original touch flow 3D. I even did a hard reset but it did not help. Can someone advise how i can get it back?
Thanks, appreciate any help.
Use MortScript for starting Pocket Informant in Calendar View:
runwait ("\Program files\WebIs\PocketInformant\PITab.exe", "5")
sleep (2000)
runwait ("\Program files\WebIs\PocketInformant\PITab.exe", "5")
(Perhaps you have to modify the path....)

Touch HD Home screen

Hi,
I've just been looking at the Touch HD and the Calendar on the home screen allows more than one entry. Unfortunately I'm not a dev so I was wondering if anyone has a ROM in progress with this feature. I know I'm not alone in thinking this a major loss in M2D. If it could include tasks it would be even better, I like the first screen I see to have all the info I need for that day. I know I can use SecondToday (and do) but that's an extra key press from seeing everything I need on screen 1.
Thanks
i have the elite 3 rom and i can see 2 entry on the home screen. i think that more is not possible with qvga...
have you tried changing the setting in today screen options/items... selecting calender and chinging the setting there?
Install new Iolite Manila version...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398173&highlight=iolite
Calender will only show the next, as in one, per default. You can change that in settings for the home screen
so please show us that we must change.

HTC Calendar "lost"

I'm having trouble with the calendar. I've been using a custom ROM for a while now (OzROM), and I only just realised that I've only ever been seeing the Windows Mobile calendar. It was only when I installed the latest OzROM (3.40) that I happened to open the calendar before restoring my contact backups and usual apps.
I thought nothing of it, and went about setting up Cookie's Home Tab with my usual shortcuts etc. After doing this, I noticed that tapping on the calendar/appointments on the homescreen now did nothing at all, despite not changing the application settings in CHTEdit.
The calendar on the homescreen tabs at the bottom is unaffected by this and still shows the HTC calendar, however, I tend not to have that turned on.
I then used CHTEdit to try and restore the homescreen calendar/appointments to run the HTC calendar, but only the Windows one is selectable - restoring the default simply makes it not work again (nothing happens when tapping the calendar summary on the homescreen).
My question is: Does anyone know what exe the HTC calendar uses (if any), and where is it? If I can create a start menu shortcut to it, then I can select it as the calendar application in CHTEdit.
I want the nice black useable calendar back!

i had same but i fixed it.
Before it happened , i have made several changes :
i made mistake and used 2 differents BG4all cabs and the cab for showing 28days in calendar
i undid cabs and put the backup of the manila for agenda
and all was fixed
i can send the french manila file if you want it.
what I'd like to have is to use HTC Calendar in Today screen as I don't use Sense at all. is there any HTC Calendar ripoff? thanx for any info!
The HTC calendar is part of manila, so if you don't run Sense then you can't use it. You also lose it if you do run Sense but you turn the tab off.
AFAIK there's no way to run a manila tab that you have disabled.
Sorry mate.
that's quite a shame... HTC Calendar is great looking and much usefull than the WM Calendar... well, I can live with that
Thanx for the info anyway

Ah, yes I see. Works as long as the tab is on. I guess I can live with that. Thanks for the explanation!

You're welcome. It is a shame though, as the HTC calendar looks like a supermodel next to the MS one.
pardon my ignorance here, but is there a cab of any sorts to install the HTC calander.?

I just ugraded my HD2 to the latest stock ROM from Tmobile and the appointment calendar is now better than the HTC calendar, and of course way better than the WM calendar in the previous ROM. I did not use any tweaks or cooked ROMs. I sync my outlook (Email, calendar, & contacts) with MS Exchanger server at work so I don't know it that has anything to do with the new & improved calendar look.
i don't know if it's still an actual issue, but with my HD2 (1.66 dutch rom) i managed to get the HTC Sense calendar just by selecting "default" in the applications menu for calendar.
I'm using CHT 1.8.5.1 now and i had the same problem, i selected the calendar icon in the program list to set a program for CHT calendar but i just found out that it's not needed at all. just press default and it should be ok
at least, with my HD2... i think it's important to switch on the calendar tab of HTC sense, so CHT can "find" this program as default application for calendar items on the homescreen.
i hope this works for all the people who have the same problem and don't like the ugly standard WM calendar.
regards from holland!
