I'm having trouble with the calendar. I've been using a custom ROM for a while now (OzROM), and I only just realised that I've only ever been seeing the Windows Mobile calendar. It was only when I installed the latest OzROM (3.40) that I happened to open the calendar before restoring my contact backups and usual apps.
I thought nothing of it, and went about setting up Cookie's Home Tab with my usual shortcuts etc. After doing this, I noticed that tapping on the calendar/appointments on the homescreen now did nothing at all, despite not changing the application settings in CHTEdit.
The calendar on the homescreen tabs at the bottom is unaffected by this and still shows the HTC calendar, however, I tend not to have that turned on.
I then used CHTEdit to try and restore the homescreen calendar/appointments to run the HTC calendar, but only the Windows one is selectable - restoring the default simply makes it not work again (nothing happens when tapping the calendar summary on the homescreen).
My question is: Does anyone know what exe the HTC calendar uses (if any), and where is it? If I can create a start menu shortcut to it, then I can select it as the calendar application in CHTEdit.
I want the nice black useable calendar back!

i had same but i fixed it.
Before it happened , i have made several changes :
i made mistake and used 2 differents BG4all cabs and the cab for showing 28days in calendar
i undid cabs and put the backup of the manila for agenda
and all was fixed
i can send the french manila file if you want it.
what I'd like to have is to use HTC Calendar in Today screen as I don't use Sense at all. is there any HTC Calendar ripoff? thanx for any info!
The HTC calendar is part of manila, so if you don't run Sense then you can't use it. You also lose it if you do run Sense but you turn the tab off.
AFAIK there's no way to run a manila tab that you have disabled.
Sorry mate.
that's quite a shame... HTC Calendar is great looking and much usefull than the WM Calendar... well, I can live with that
Thanx for the info anyway

Ah, yes I see. Works as long as the tab is on. I guess I can live with that. Thanks for the explanation!

You're welcome. It is a shame though, as the HTC calendar looks like a supermodel next to the MS one.
pardon my ignorance here, but is there a cab of any sorts to install the HTC calander.?

I just ugraded my HD2 to the latest stock ROM from Tmobile and the appointment calendar is now better than the HTC calendar, and of course way better than the WM calendar in the previous ROM. I did not use any tweaks or cooked ROMs. I sync my outlook (Email, calendar, & contacts) with MS Exchanger server at work so I don't know it that has anything to do with the new & improved calendar look.
i don't know if it's still an actual issue, but with my HD2 (1.66 dutch rom) i managed to get the HTC Sense calendar just by selecting "default" in the applications menu for calendar.
I'm using CHT 1.8.5.1 now and i had the same problem, i selected the calendar icon in the program list to set a program for CHT calendar but i just found out that it's not needed at all. just press default and it should be ok
at least, with my HD2... i think it's important to switch on the calendar tab of HTC sense, so CHT can "find" this program as default application for calendar items on the homescreen.
i hope this works for all the people who have the same problem and don't like the ugly standard WM calendar.
regards from holland!

Hello, does anyone has the same the problem as me:
I manually set the calendar to default to month view. However when I tap on calendar in TF3D it opens it up to today's agenda. It does however start in Month view but then will snap immediately to todays view.
It is probably probably a bug from HTC (because when you disable TF3D it works, you have the month view).
I would be very grateful if any of you could help me to fix this bug.
idem here
Got the same problem. I'm currently using (ROM) SwiftBL Diamond ROM 7.5 Full [16MBPP].
Yes, it happens, with any ROM I've tried. Pretty annoying...
for the millionth time people....
A. use the search, this topic has been disgussed in at least 10 other threads¬
B. this is NOT a bug, HTC MEANT IT TO BE LIKE THIS. when you open the calender from TF3D it will always open it in the AGENDA view as the home page of TF3D is designed to show you appointments and activities for the day you are in!
Why dont you try this..
Open the calender from the Programs list and not from TF3D... it opens it in the default you have set it to right?
The only workaround is to pin the calender to the start menu or the TF3D programs list and open it from there.
NOW PLEASE NO MORE THREADS ABOUT THIS...
... AND NOW IM ONTO MY GRIPE WHICH IS PEOPLE THAT WANT TO OPEN THE FM RADIO WITHOUT THE HEADSET..... IDIOTS, WHILE THEY ARE AT IT THEY SHOULD TURN THEIR TV ON WITHOUT THE AREAL PLUGGED IN!!!
Try Dutty's rom release, he "fixed" this problem. it's bloody awesome

what a negative post...whats up with people losing their cool so easily..
personally, EVEN if HTC meant it this way, i dont find it useful for my use. I would rather open it directly from my home tab without having to go to the start menu or program list.
Maybe there is a registry tweak or editing in the manila to make it load a certain page at startup
If duttys rom takes care of it proves that its possible to be fixed
Hi all
I tried to search, but i didnt find anything.
I dont like the "people" tab, where i have to scroll trough my favorite contacts. I would prefere, i could directly access to the favorites contact, without scrolling (like the programm tab or like the action screen).
But i still want to keep TF3D...
Do anyone has an idea or knows how to solve this issue?
Thx mates,
gt
i dont know how to solve this but this is what i did
i installed icontact and i have it maped on the right softkey at the home tab.
it opens very fast, looks nice and is very finger friendly. There is a favorites tab as well but it does take 2clicks (1open icontact, 2 click on favorites) so not exactly direct
hope this helps
Thx Giannis86
Sounds good for me. Still much better as the actual solution.
I will give it a try...
actually i do have an idea now..
i just spent some time modding the actionscreen skin. I think it would be possible to fix the shortcuts to a contact (i need to do some research on how to do this ofc)
so, IF this is possible, you could have 9 contacts showing at the same time (i suppose more is possible if you made the icons smaller but its a lengthy process)

there is a program i used some time ago while making a theme for battery status that enabled me to dial from shortcuts.
usage:
dial.exe xxxxxxxxxxx
but it would require some aditional tool to configure, or some text editing.

I would also prefer something like this. Instead of People just have a tab called "Contacts" and you can scroll up and down with the TF3d movability instead of going into the actual contacts program which is so slow.
What about to port people tab from m2d?

Any solution for this request?!
I've found the easiest solve to this is to use iContacts Burt Edition 6.4.5 and map it to the right or left softkey on the homescreen. Then get TF3D config and remove the People tab fom manilla. You can set favorites with photos in icontactBE and you can configure it to open directly to the favorites list first with the iContact Config. tool.

At the moment am using Resco Contact Manager. I think it's really not bad, but there are many thing included, it isnt just a replacement for the people tab.
Hello people,
I was wondering if it's possible to have your contacts show up on the main TF3D tab instead of going there and pushing contacts.
Do i have to link a photo to the contact to do that ?
Thanks in advance !

You can use HD Tweak (in My signature) to assign left and right soft keys to link to contacts then you can go straight to contacts

Just to add to ozmoran's comments. HD Tweak does change the soft keys on manila 2.0 & 2.1, but it doesn't work on manila 2.5.

Unfortunately this isn't possible at present. You are restricted to amount of contacts on TF3D Contact tab and you cannot get to rest of contacts by swiping left/right on TF3D

Nope, just 1.
I also wish I could change the appointments view in Manila for 1 week instead of 1/2 days before.
hope some registry tweaks pop up soon because lot of people would like to customize their Manila a little bit more

For the appointments in lock screen it's probably a reg setting, not sure as not really played with WM 6.5.
xmoo,to get more appointments in manila, one has to decode the lua script. I'm trying to find hte right one at the moment to extend the appointments to show the next 5. Not had much time to play at the mo, will keep you informed.

If you are talking about the homescreen one I think you are out of luck. At least for the showing more than one day ahead part. Haven't been able to fully decompile it, but only 2.1 which have decompiled it didn't work.
With the calendar now showing one week of appoint menat its not really needed anymore though,

Anyone got an solution to this? Doesn't seem that hard to do...
Hi all.
I´m looking for a solution of this problem as well.
My "all day" (namedays & birthdays = free) is blocking my appointments in calender
I´m using S2u2 working like scharm tasks, e.mails, sms, appointments over week, wether.
use Co0kie Home Tab for multiple screens as well as 5 appointments. You wont look back! its awesome.
Hi,
Is there a way to launch Pocket Informant instead of Calendar in the Home Page of the HTC sense?
Thanks
Daniel
Changing sense application links
It is possible, but you will have to familiarise yourself with the registry.
The HTC manila 2.5 calendar is one of the best features for me, so I will not be bothering to change it.

Xaddict: can you be more specific? I'd like to link the 'next alarm' message on the home screen to G-Alarm.
I found a couple of promising registry strings under HKLM/Software/HTC/Manila/HTCService, but I don't know how to proceed from here.

I don't have problems with editing the registry. I have done it with the HD but I am not sure I can use the same keys for the HD2 as for the HD
Daniel
I tested SSMaHo, which I remember from my previous device. It works. That might be a solution for you, Daniel.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=493810
Unfortunately, SSMaHo can't differentiate between a tap on the alarm symbol and a tap on the big clock. I want the alarm symbol to open G-alarm and the clock to open the default time settings; but if I make the alarm symbol point to G-alarm, the clock does the same...
Therefore I'm still curious about those registry settings.
