Hi, I apologize if I miss out a detail or two, so here goes:
I had my first mogul broken, and had it replaced by a Refurb by Asurion. Big mistake. I get the Refurb, activate it, and I go to switch on the wlan switch (I live in a place with no signal, and it's nice just to lie down in bed to AIM rather than grab a laptop).
Anyways, I figured something must be wrong, and I upgraded my ROM (I did this on the first Mogul as well, no problems) to the Radio 3.46. So I try that, and I try the wifi switch. Wireless does not turn on, so I go into the wifi app, and it says the driver is not loaded. So I searched here and PPCGeeks, and found an article about changing a driver entry in the Registry, so I did that and then softreset, and driver still not loaded.
So I flashed again to the latest leak (3.56 series now), and same error: the driver was not loaded. I then thought that I could have overlooked something, and flashed again to the March 2008 official released ROM, and that didn't work, it just says the Wireless is Off, even if the switch is in the On position.
So I'm curious, does anybody have any ideas on how I can go about this? I'm willing to try anything, provided I don't have to open the phone, to get it working. I'm prepared to send it back to Sprint assuming they'll accept it, but I find it rather disappointing to pay for insurance and get a phone that lacks Wifi, which is the main reason I chose it over the Touch.
Thanks,
Bashew
Weird. I started installing a few Wifi related apps, and found WifiFoFum, and it had an option in its Tools menu, something about Powering On, so I pressed that, and it detected my home router. However, WinMo won't find my router at all... so I don't know. I am currently back in the 3.56 ROM by the way.
Add: I just now went into Windows Mobile Wifi app, and it had an option to Turn On Wifi, I clicked it, and clicked Scan for Networks, and it didn't find any, even though I'm within kicking distance of my router. (Only comparison I can think of)
Well, it looks as if when I keep clicking "Turn Wifi On", the wifi turns on, shows my networks, then dies. When I repeat, it shows the networks and dies again. It's as if WinMo keeps Turning Wifi off by itself.
search around the Titan Upgrading ect... threads. i remember seeing quite a bit in there about getting the wifi working correctly. i think it was supposedly a defect in some of the 6800s.

Folks,
I am desperate and I need help - I have had a Cingular 8525 for about a month now. Everything was going fine till Christmas day -
exactly a day after my 30 day return period :-(.
The issue is that every time I turn on Wifi, my device finds countless connections (I live in an apartment complex filled with
young professionals). From here, I go nowhere but downhill. If the phone goes to sleep while the WIFI is turned on, it does not wake up
at all. I do the only one thing that remains to be done and that is reset the phone. This time the device boots up however
the WiFi is still turned on and the phone shows a big exclamation where the bars are supposed to be. Then I get an
error "The Operation failed". Even a clear storage does not solve the issue. If I keep the phone turned off for about a day
and go to a location where there are no Wifi networks, everything is fine again.
I got Cingular to send me a Warranty Exchange device and Lo and Behold, I have the same problems with the second phone
too. I spoke with data device support and they asked me to go to a Cingular store where the device works fine as there are
no WiFi networks there.
I cannot return, cannot use my phone to the fullest extent and am in despair. Can someone tell me if there is any miracle that
I can utilize at this time. Please help !!!
p.s. - I have never installed any third party apps on the phones.
Cannot take time to answer this right now but, the answers are alraedy posted on this board. It does not sound as if there is anyting wrong with the phone except the not waking up part which is a known issue and also documented here. Also try the Wiki http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Hermes
I will check in again later

Mike,
Any help is appreciated. None of the topics below cover issues with WiFi. Once I turn on the WiFi, it will not turn off even with a hard reset or soft reset and then the phone shows the exclamation "!" !!!
Well just for starters I'm going to suggest that you DO add two applications - most importantly Magic Button
http://www.trancreative.com/mb.aspx
With this tool installed you will be able to see from the task bar what programmes are running on your device. (You may or may not know that applications that are opened and then shutdown with the X at top right corner are NOT actually closed but running in the background. Magic Button will allow you to see these and close them down - particularly Active Sync which will get in the way of your WiFi connection.
I think you are not getting any wifi connection but you are detecting networks from folks around you?? Does it detect your own network? and if so at what stage do you have a problem.
If your own network is being detected but the usual means of connecting e.g. by entering WEP key is failing then you might want to install an application called Hitchhiker http://www.kasuei.com/hitchhiker/ this application resolves various conflicts and will re-establish IP address and will allow you to enter the WEP key or even copy and paste it in. Once run and connected hopefully, you can close down Hitchhiker (if you want to) and connect to wifi by your normal route (Hitchhiker will have saved the connection information to the standard locations so you don't need to use Hitchhiker each time you want to connect) (Note you must also download and install the .Net Framework a link for which is also given on the Hitchhiker page given above)
Finally (for now) you say Wifi is on all the time even after soft reset. But you can switch it off, in more than one way. Here's one way, below the on/off switch right hand side is another hard key for the "Communications Manager" . On the screen that comes up you will see an aerial with waves radiating from it. Tapping will close and tapping again will re-open. Here you can also open and close the phone function, though I never close mine.

New "to me" Tytn. Seller says he used wifi regularly. I can't get it to turn on at all, so it isn't even a matter of finding networks. Go to turn on WLAN, it simply comes up "WLAN is off". No matter which direction I go to try to enable it.
Downloaded trial of WMwifirouter .... nothing. It simply refuses to see networks...at home, at work, in Starbucks, anywhere. So how do I get it to do that? Running WM6.

Try upgrading to a different rom. ..
I moved your thread over to hermes general area.
New ROM no help
Must be worse than I thought ... I flashed one of your ROMS and still no wifi. Click on the "turn wifi on" icon and after a few seconds it just comes back up as "wifi turned off".
Am I totally screwed?

maybe you should have a look at your wifi-setting. the first thing is to reflash your rom, and the second, do as this follow, windows=>setting=>connection=>connection=>advantage=>selectting the network. turn the first setting to the"company setting"
and, is your wifi opened for free?
Try downgrading the ROM to WM5. Could possily be a fault with the hardware, but I doubt it. Check through the settings, there may be some kind of power saving function on.
I had this issue when I installed the "WiFi driver patch" mentioned elsewhere on this forum. Thanks God I had SK Tools installed so I was able to rollback the WiFi driver to the original one coming with the ROM - that effectively made WiFi operational again.
Perhaps some newer ROMs have this patch built in, and it turns out to be incompatible with some WiFi hardware?
Try flashing the official WM6 ROM and see if that helps. Use a stripped version without the bootloader and radio stack, and certainly be sure to install HardSPL first.
Fresh flash of WM 6.5 over radio 3.42.50 on a Titan. Under Network Management, I've selected that "Programs that automatically connect to the internet should connect using:" My Work Network, since I don't have a data plan. I go to Wifi settings, select Add New, put in the ssid, click through the security settings (temporarily disabled for this test purpose). My network shows up as "Unavailable". (I'm standing right next to the router). I click "Connect", it says "Connecting" for a couple of seconds and then goes back to "Unavailable".
What should I check first? I'm at my wits end.
You shouldn't have to "add new", your ssid should be automatically discovered and displayed in the list of wifi networks.
Did you connect to a wifi with your phone before, or is it a first attempt ?
Yes, I'd been connecting just fine until a few weeks ago. In fact, the refusal to connect was what prompted me to flash the thing -- figured that starting over might help.
So, your wifi connection was working well, but suddenly, for some obscure reason, it stopped working. Therefore, you decided to reflash your phone, but it didn't help, still not working.
Is that correct ?
I know I sound like a complete doofus, but yes, that's basically it. The weirdest thing is that every once in a while it'll find a wireless network and connect. But the connection never lasts for more than a few minutes, and then when it's gone the network is "Unavailable". And to anticipate your next question: There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for when it works. At this point I'm thinking I'll pick up a used Titan or Vogue on eBay and junk this thing.
Did you try a different rom ? Could be a faulty rom.
I've tried several different roms, yes.
this happens in some roms...
go2 wireless lan settings and then go2 power mode.change it to best perfomance frm best battery
Hi, I just upgraded to Android 4.3 on my S4, and a few features are really starting to get to me.
The wifi automatically turns on when I shut it off. That might be great except I shut it off because I don't want to connect to the WiFi in the area. And I don't want to forget the network, because when I turn the wifi ON, I do want to connect, not enter a password. IIRC, in 4.2.2 this was called Smart Mode, but I can't seem to find it in the options. Maybe I overlooked it.
As well, when the wifi *IS* on, it continuously complains about my network connection being unstable. Having dealt with my home connection over the landlord's wifi for 1 1/2 years, I am aware of this, however, it's all I've got, so is there a way to tell it to stop trying to smartly switch to using the (almost non-existent) one bar of Verizon access that flutters on and off in my house?
I think there were a few other questions I had, but I forget what they are, I'll post them when I remember.
Thanks!
Ah, ok, I've got it, apparently, in WiFi under Settings, now the menu button (to the left of the home button) is now active for certain screens. Go to "Advanced WiFi Settings" and you now have options. I'll have to see what else is hidden in menu-button accessible places now.
I have a Samung Galaxy S4, GT-I9505, Android Version 7.1.2, using LineageOS 14.1-20180309-NIGHTLY-jfltexx. Baseband version: I9505XXSPQA1. Kernel version 3.4.112-Lineage-ge8d93e0
It has worked fine for months. But on the 1st of July, while a friend was borrowing it, it was all of a sudden unable to see any wifi networks. My friend doesn't know what he did to it as he was just trying to connect his wifi. Now I can't find ANY wifi networks. None at all! All other devices in the house can find and connect to wifi networks and to the home wifi network.
I've tried the following:
1) Restarting the phone
2) Turning on airplane mode and looking for wifi networks.
3) Restarting the router
4) Factory resetting the phone
5) Flashing the same Lineage OS version from the SD card using TWRP.
6) Removing the battery for 1 minute and putting it back in and restarting the phone.
What happens normally?
I go into wifi settings by pressing and holding down on the wifi icon in the notification tray. When I get there, there is a blue moving bar near the top which makes it seem as if it is searching for a network. I still attempt to turn on the wifi using the switch to the top right. There's a message in the middle of the screen saying "Turning Wi-Fi on …" And then it searches and searches. Eventually the "on" and the wifi switch get greyed out and are unresponsive to any touch, but there is a moving blue bar just under it that makes it seem as if it is still searching, but it sees none. If I wait long enough and the phone screen times out and I turn it back on, in wifi settings, at the top it says "off" but the blue bar under it is still moving as if it is searching. If I press the switch, the same thing happens.
If I got into "Configure Wifi" the MAC address is set to 02:00:00:00:00:00 and the IP address is "Unavailable".
Doing all this gives me the impression that it is a hardware issue, not a software one.
But I'm wondering if there are any solutions that I haven't tried, or is there agreement that it is most likely a hardware issue.
My wife took it to a local market to see if they could fix it. The guy went to the TWRP app that was installed and claimed that somehow it had been used to delete the wifi software. It didn't seem right or likely. I don't think he knew what he was talking about.
Can anyone help at all please?
get a new phone lol serranoltexx is old

Hello, If you have any FULL Backup include EFS, preload etc. Restore. If you don't have backup, you can try flash STOCK ROM using for ex. samfirm - https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647
Also you can use one of thread https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/...-02-00-00-00-00-00-after-3-5-5-update.480733/
Let me know if there is any progress.
