Are the leds crazy? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Well i dont wether this is normal or not on this model but, my leds are always blinking blue (BT) and green (GSM). Although, if i receive a message or the battery is low, the led's still blink in the same color. Only if i receive a call and dont pick it up, then the led changes to yellow(?). This situation occurs in standby mode. But if i turn on the device then when i receive messages the led goes yeallow and if the battery is low it blinks red. In addition if a have an aplication like media player, playin in standby mode (screen turned off) then the leds blink like the device is turned on (described above). Is this normal? In my prophet, the led's blink like they should wether the device is on standby or on.

Have you read the manual? Search the net if you don't have a copy.

LOL...the led's are fine, but the thread is crazy

turn off green blinking light, how?

where do we need that blink if phone is working properly?
if there is message or low bat, bt or wifi connection, thats nice to know, but no need for green light to show that there is power.
so, how to disable that? registry hack or something i suppose.
thanks,
first time posting here...
My flashing light seems to do what it want's. If it flashes the right thing at the right time it's just coincidence...
Mat.. I think he's referring to e.g. the right-side green LED flash that pops up every 2 seconds when the radio is on. It can be a wee bit annoying when you've got the thing on your nightstand - some people simply can't fall asleep ( even though they should close their eyes, after which they can't see it anymore )
What does the orange light mean? It seems to change to orange whenever it wants!
afaik...
Left LED:
Green, Flashing slow (2s): WiFi on
Blue, Flashing slow (2s): BlueTooth on
Right LED
Red, Flashing quickly (1s): Battery nearly empty
Green, Flashing slow (2s): Radio on
Green, On: Fully recharged
Amber (orange), On: Recharging
Amber (orange), Flashing quickly (1s): Notifications (Alarm, SMS, MMS, etc. depending on settings)

How do you disable the two external LED's

You've got two multicolour led's, at least one is multi colour, green blinking for network, orange when charging and green when fully charged.
Blue for bluetooth, obvious .
Now i wonder, how do i turn them off?
Is there a tool to do that ?
Im intrigued! Why?
When i'm watching divx with tcmp, i hate those blinking led's in front of me.
That's it

Buuuuuhhhhhtttttttt, how about JUSt turning the LED's off?
That was my original question, to turn off the LED's.
All other functions must remain available.
(Logitech Bluetooth Stereo )Headset, and when the phone rings i must pickup when on standby duty ......

But this is not a functional solutionas far as i read the article.
Searched and found that topic myself already by the way.....
For ur this simple prob u can simply paste a small piece of matching dark coloured tape so that they dont disturb u nemore. lol........
LOL, no that's covering up, not shuttung down
So anyone any ideas jet ?
They bother me a lot when traveling at night time, and it's in the holder, i want to be able to shut them down please.
Tape is no option.
They can be controlled and disabled, but it'll be messy to disable them. There are various drivers scattered around that want control of the leds.

Network, Charge and of course Bluetooth traffic are the ones i guess ?
How does one control these things, have you got any idea ?
The thing is, it's distracting me a lot when driving the car in the dark, that's why i ask. Also when watching divx it's distracting
The method I could write would be messy, inelegant. Easiest way is to disable allledmgr.

Sounds like a solution to me?
I have no idea to enable or disable allledmgr, can i do that in the Registry perhaps ? Would you like to teach me how to do that ?
Grtzzz from Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
You could always open the case up and try removing the LEDs.

Yeah, or buy a Nokia 8210 ....
Come on get serious
OK then, I'll be serious.
I have looked into this quite extensively in the past, tried hacking all sorts of settings in the registry and all I have managed to do in the past is turn off the network LED.
As far as I'm aware and have been able to work out, the Bluetooth and the WiFi are controlled by either the drivers or the hardware itself rather than registry settings and modifying the drivers is beyond my capabilities. Of course, if it's hardware then there's nothing that can be done.
Come on Vijay, I know you of all people can do it, good luck.
Pug.
Here you go - VJImpoto, alpha release.
This will disable the LED driver (ie, battery charging leds, bluetooth, notification led, wifi led(?))
Note - by disabling the LED driver, the PDA won't be able to disable any currently activate leds, so eg if you're charging up (orange led active), and then run VJImpoto, the orange led will stay on until you soft reset whether you're charging or not.
So run it when you've got no LEDs on, and they'll stay off.
However: this is alpha, because I noticed that the "heartbeat" flash of the phone radio (green flash of led every few seconds) continues despite the LED driver being disabled: clearly that action is activated elsewhere on the system, so it'll need further investigation. However, this app merely disables AllLedMgr, so any flaws with that strategy carry here too.
Command line options:
-showinfo shows info on usage/donations
-debug shows feedback on whether it worked.
-killall killall will first attempt to switch off any active leds, so as discussed above, running VJImpoto -killall will first switch off the orange led, and then disable AllLEDMgr. However, this has the peculiar side effect of making the heartbeat flash now flash on the left green led on the Hermes. I recommend using -killall.
Please give feedback on if it worked for you. I'll make a cab later, .exe only for now.

First and atmost :
THANK YOU VERY MUCH for taking the time investigating and writing a possible solution for my little problem, however how small the problem seems, i have many thanks for you!
Don't have the time right now, but when arriving home it's on the top of my priority list, right below eating
AND WHOW IT WORKS!
For 5 to 10 minutes, then they all start blinking again.....
Here are my findings :
When i shut down all communications, and run the program from pocket-explorer, it works like a charm, even the Phone heartbeat won't blink.
After a period of 5 to 10 minutes however, they start blinking again.
The funny thing is, when i shut down all comunications, they keep blinking!
After a soft reset the situation is like before, as it seems to me, and they blink how they are supposed to, and stop blinking when turned off all communication devices.
I will look for a command line tool, and try it that way, for further examination, and ofcourse for finding the donation part
(by Paypal i assume ?)

[Q] Status LED ?

I tried looking in the forum for any info on the status LED next to the speaker on the front side but I don't see any posts on this. Is this LED supposed to flash or do something? On my HD it has never worked? Is it supposed to work?
I remember on my Artemis it would flash green for good reception, blue for bluetooth and red if the battery was low.

I may be wrong but i was under the impresion that this was a sensor rather than a LED.
No, that's entirely correct, it is the light sensor. The LED is in the power button.
the status led is on the power button on the top right hand side of the blackstone...the place u highlighted is a sensor as what scotia has point out..
I think that it is a proximity sensor used to blank screen when you put the phone on your ear to talk.
It's actually the light sensor used for when you have automatic display brightness enabled. When it's dark, it turns down the brightness... And when it's a sunny day it cracks it up. I am not sure whether it's used to blank the screen during a call... This seems to happen after a period of time has elapsed.
Gav
ok thanks for the info.
So does the power LED on the top side flash any color to show the status of the reception or does it only light up orange when it charges?
Thanks.
doesn't do anything for reception..although mine flashes green hen I have a message/email/reminder
pity though, a decent LED to show such things was probably high on everyone's wishlist
No, the HD is perfectly unobtrusive. On my last PDA the LED had to be tweaked to stop flashing.
Too bad this isnt a LED diode Since I got on my Diamond a light notification (on the bottom of device)... when I recieved new sms... now on HD there is no way I can figure do I have new sms or notification unless I turn the screen on. The only hardware flaw by mine opinion
When its lying down, I agree with you. Then I have to turn on the screen. However when its lying next to me I'm usually not in a place were I can't use my phone, so the sound is on anyway.
I actually think its quite good the LED is on the top, it's easelly visible when the phone is in my pocket. I just have to pull the phone up a little and look down to see the LED (no need to get it out and turn the screen on). I like it on the top, nice and discreet, and not anoying me when I'm looking at the device while using it.
Perhaps a combination would be nice? Front and top That would sattisfy most people I guess...

TP2-Keyboard Light & LED

Hi,
I have 2 issues with the TP2...
a) Keyboard Light - can it be set to a different value? Seems it is set to around 10 sec - tried Advanced Config..but that doesnt seem to work..also cudn't find anything in the Registry yet.
b) LED - the LED only seems to work during charging(Red/Green solid) = any program/Registry hack to use the LED for other Options (eg "new Mail" = Red blinking)?
Hope someone has the same issues and found a solution already
Thanks!
Regarding the notification light, you should RTFM. You don't need a hack. By default the notification light will blink green for missed calls, new SMS, and new emails. It'll blink amber for low battery warning.
Yea I would like the keyboard to stay lit longer as well. For the LED notifications make sure you select the "flash light for" in the sounds & notifications settings.
But it will not blink when there is missed call or sms when you are charging the phone though.
I don't have that problem with my previous X1.
LED & Keyboard Light
Hi Guys,
thanks a lot - stupid oversight of mine in reg to the LED
However still looking for the Keyboard Light..I used Advanced Config and set it to 30 sec..but that doesn't seem to work.
Also looked into the Registry but cudn't find anything related there as well.....
Cheers!
What are the reg entries for the LED lights? I would like diff colors as well
yes me too. please post your solution
I doubt the registry will give you different colour apart from the green, amber & red. It's a hardware thing.

I guess its too bad then that the manual doesnt say this functionality is BROKEN.
i had to turn it off as it would continue to blink even after I cleared the notifications.

I've searched and searched for a tweak or mod for that - I would MUCH prefer it blink for alerts / notifications, even when connected. Mine usually sits in the cradle when at home. If the LED blinked for missed calls / messages while in the cradle, I could see that at a glance from across the room, rather than going to it and looking at the screen.
Is there a tweak or mod to force the LED to blink, regardless of connection state? I don't care what color.
Thanks, Folks!

guys google nueLed that might work its an old program that controls the Led in many ways
I've seen references to nueLED, but also read of several issues with it on the newer devices (TP2s in particular.) I'll do some searching later today and see if I can come up with a later version and/or higher confidence level that it won't give me problems.
Thanks for the suggestion! Anybody else?
Well, I managed to do a bit of research about NueLED today. I keep finding too many comments in various threads on various forums that mention problems, particularly on TP2s and even more particularly with WM6.5. Perhaps most are overblown - I honestly don't know. But it's enough to give me pause. Above all else, I need to keep Touchie as stable as he is currently. That said...
Can anybody confirm that NueLED works reliably on the T7373 w/ WM6.5 (official HTC SEA ROM update) with no instability or quirks?
Beyond that, can somebody confirm that NueLED provides an option for the notification LED to blink even when connected to power? That is really my only interest. I'm fine with the current setup & colors, but would like the LED to blink for an alert when the device is in the cradle.
Thanks, as always, for the help and suggestions!

LED indication

The LED has the following:
1. Green when fully charged and while on a charger
2. Amber when charging and not fully charged
3. Flashing when a new SMS, email or missed call.
My question is: how can I set my TD2 to flash to indicate a new SMS, email or missed call at the same time as charging? It would seem that the charging indication takes priority over the flashing.... I want the flashing to take priority.
Does anyone know a solution to this please?
I would like the same.It will be great with no missing call or sms until you unplug your phone...and what about the second light next right to the phone? thanks a lot

There isn't a second light - it is a light sensor.
The light flashes different colors. So it could have be in rhythm with one color and different rhythm of another color.
R=Red, G=Green, Y=Yellow, - = 1 sec
---R---R---R---R---R---R---R (Charging)
-G---G---G---G---G---G---G-- (Missed Call)
Y---Y---Y---Y---Y---Y---Y--- (New Message)
So if it were charging, while having a missed call and new message, it would blink
Yellow, Green, Red, Yellow, Green, Red, etc
If it were just charging and a New Message it would
Yellow, pause, Red, Yellow, Pause, Red, etc
Just a Missed call would be
Pause, Green, Pause, Pause, Green, Pause, etc
So basically if you walked away for a minute and you had a new message and missed call while charging... it would be going crazy. You could even make a dash equal to 2 seconds to slow it down... or 3.
Well Player911, you do have a vivid imagination! Simply just flashing any colour would do nicely for me when charging and something has arrived from SMS, email or missed call.
Can you fix it?
I would prefer a green blinking light simply as a 'breathing' light. Maybe it could blink amber/red when it is low on battery.
It should burn full time only when there's a new event.
Anyway, preference may vary, but I think we all agree that it would be awesome if we could customise it!

I have the ideas, but not the know-how.
I am close to a solution and am currently testing this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1954259.
It seems to work, but the drawback is that you lose the LED notification for charging/charged completely to get the LED's to flash on an SMS/Email/missed call....
EDIT: This doesn't seem to work. It will work for a while, but if you charge then remove and then charge again, the charging LED comes back on. This then overrides the notifications LED which is what I want to take priority Back to the drawing board.
Hi,
can anybody provide a hint on how to change flashing time of the green led indicator? It blinks on missing calls but I'd like to increase the blinking period. I have HTC TD2 with Manilla 2.5 and Touch Sense.
my TD2 comes tomorrow, i think i miss my kaiser's led indicators when using TD2. kaiser is the best and enjoying with its leds, mostly when gps wifi and bluetooth opened at the same time

My old P3300 (Artemis) was like that too - quite a light show with gps, wifi, and bluetooth all on. Doesn't last long, 'cos the battery goes flat!
I really miss the flashing green "in service" LED. It was so handy to know a) you had reception and b) the phone hadn't crashed or the battery expired. The TD2 just sits there "lifeless" giving you no feedback at all.
