I'm interested in attempting to create a finger friendly alarm clock in flash lite...one that is similar to the iphones' in regards to setting the alarm. I've never used flash but i usually pick up graphics programs pretty easily so i'm not worried about that part. Its the programming that i don't know and how to implement it as a today screen item. What i'd like to do is make it as a stand alone program and make a link on the today screen to open it up. It doesn't need to have a clock. just an interface to set a finger friendly alarm. I'd like someones help with the program if they are intersted. The more people the better as i'm beginning. Any help from people is appreciated as well as any links to tutorials for coding for this would be nice to. Thanks in advance to everyone taking their time to read this.

Hello all,
2 hours of fruitless searching has prompted me to post here.
Does anyone know of a program that will rotate/cycle/change your Today screen background/wallpaper at a time interval? (10mins, etc)
(I suppose I'd pay $10 or so for it?)
Thanks guys!,
Dax.
I use StocksAndWeather for that. Not only does it cycle through your today screen themes, but it's a weather (and stocks) manager too. Gives you weather updates and warnings, but the kicker is that it comes with weather themes and changes the theme based on the weather. So if it's raining outside then the theme will be rain related. If it's snowing then the theme will show snow. It's a pretty neat program. You can also install your own themes to rotate in. Here is the link
http://www.stocksandweathertoday.com/
The weather icons are also animated so it makes your today screen look good, and you can instantly tell what the weather is like outside based on the theme. It's one of my favorites.
Hey there!
Thanks for your quick response!
That's not exactly what I was after, I just want to change JUST the background, not the whole theme. But thanks anyway!
Dax.
Just to register my interest in a utility that can do this. Have been searching for a long time but can't find anything as yet.
There must be something out there.
Thanks
WB
Well it can't be impossible, so yeah, I just wish someone would make it too.
It's such a shame I know nothing about programming.
Anymore on this please? Still looking.
Thanks
WB
Sorry WB, seems like no-one else likes our idea!
Dax,
Unfortunately seems you could be right. These tools are readily available for PC but it seems not for PPC.
Anyway lets not give up the search and if either of us finds something we should let the other know.
I will bookmark this thread for future reference.
Cheers

@dax/wackyB: Guys, I don't need the money. will make something for u guys. am swamped right now by some other thing that i'm trying to do...will see if I get some time before this sunday..shudn't be too hard I think....
G'day mate!
That's very noble of you, thanks for your offer!
Whenever you're ready, just let us know, no pressure
Thanks so much,
Dax.
Theme Manager Plus does this.
http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/Themes/Theme-Manager-Plus-17547.shtml
Hi PhonePhun,
I believe that program only rotates themes, not wallpapers/backgrounds.
Which would mean you would have to create a seperate theme for every wallpaper you wanted to use.
Besides being inefficient, it wouldn't actually be all bad, but considering you can't create themes with wallpapers that work in both portrait AND landscape configuration, setting a wallpaper is still the best way to go.
Thanks for your input though!
All the best,
Dax.
Shantg001,
That is an EXCELLENT offer, very much appreciated. Let us know when you are done.
More than happy to make a contribution if required as I have been looking for a tool like this for a very long time.
Cheers
WB
Hey dax/wackyB: Look here for ur tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1303630#post1303630
Enjoy
By now there is quite a few diffrent finger friendly hacks/apps for contacts, dialing, sms etc. but as far as I know there is still no finger friendly Calender hack. I often have to add a appointment to my calender and it would be great if it could be done with a few finger clicks
Something like a screen where you choose date and time, write a appointment text and choose yes/no to alarm.
I dont know if its only me who is missing such an app/hack. But i really think such an app would be very usefull.
And if someone makes such an app someday i will gladly donate a couple of beers
Though it turned out to be a tad too cumbersome for me personally, perhaps you could find some use in this Calendar alternative, called Date Lens. Here's the link: http://www.cs.umd.edu/hcil/fishcal/
If you feel like reading, the presentation that was made by one of Date Lens' developers to Bill Gates explains lots of the features.
Transcription is here; start reading from "BEN BEDERSON: Thanks, Bill."
Also, try this prog: DeveloperOne AGendaOne. It makes things easier for use with the thumb.

Thank you all I opened a thread for this at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=326891
I'll be posting my "demo" soon
i have searched the internet for tutorials or anything that would help and could not find much at all so i figured what better place to ask than here...
i have a little experience in VB and would like to start doing some applications for my PPC. i have done a few small math programs that do simple conversions...as simple as taking input from an input box hitting a button and displaying the output in a label. i would like to learn how to manipulate files, do such things as creating a launcher and doing input functions like the moving of an image like in slide to unlock or scrolling with finger etc. so if anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great whether it be a tutorial or source code or what ever.
thanks in advance and thanks to all the people that provide awesome software and help on this forum...maybe one day i can share something i make

Welcome on-board.
And very nice it is too!!.
Of course you realise you have missed out on posting the obligatory half dozen noobie questions about "how do I do a soft reset" etc and gone straight to achieving something by reading up on things
What will now happen of course is that you will get folk requesting "please can you send me that as a cab please"
Mike
Please can you please send me that cab please???
Seriously, excellent job.
Nice RL Skin!
Hey Im trying to design a Wii and Voyager skin. Would you share you xml and mortscripts for RL so I can use them as a template for the skin I what to create? Here is a preview of what I want it to look like. Thanks.
Thanks, but I didn't use any Mortscripts in my skin, all the icons are program launchers in ultimate launch. I use Spb Mobile Shell to launch settings etc.
The look you want can easily be achieved with rl today doing your clock, ultimate launch handling your icons and a nice tsk. for your background (if this is all u want then I can help!)
Great Skin
I really like your skin. It is very well done. How long did it take you to create it? I've been trying to find a skin I like for some time that could simplify the use of WM and make it more finger friendly. I was starting to think that the only way I would be able to get a skin the way I want it is to make it myself. I don't know how long it would take to learn how and then do it and sure if I have the time. If you are willing to share any of your work or the how to it would be greatly apprciated.
Love your clock and layout
Hi Redflag,
Too nice! Just finished knocking up a Rl Today "clock only" to top off my UL screen. Found Pocket Digital clock to be too tall on TytnII.
Can now use Rumball's awesome WeatherPanel schemer.
Your clock is sooo much nicer. May I trouble you for the skin file?
Thanks
Davej
Ok so I've never coded in java before its all new to me and i am trying to make an app that would do the same as this (check it out here) old Motorola razr mod, the led's and screens would flash in a pattern when music was played or any vibration into the microphone. I thought this idea could make a cool app for android, so i have begun coding it, and i have pretty much got the interface setup, but when it comes to making the slider i added actually do anything i have no idea and i have no idea how to make buttons actually preform an action, also i have no idea how to go about controlling hardware on the phone like the microphone and various lights to flash. Is there any way anyone can help or give some tips i appreciate any input. Thus far my layout consist of a spinner to chose the different patterns for the lights to flash, then the start button, then a slider to choose how sensitive the microphone is to incoming vibrations. They do nothing yet cause i am not quite sure where to go from here. If you feel you can contribute any knowledge my way i will be grateful, the only coding i have done is minor html stuff although not much different than the xml code involved i have no idea what to do for the java part. Please Help.
Thank you much!
You'll need to use the required APIs detailed here: http://developer.android.com/reference/android/media/AudioRecord.html , I'm not sure you can actually control the sensitivity in Android as I haven't written any apps using the hardware as you want to. And this should help you out with the the backlight: http://developer.android.com/reference/android/os/PowerManager.html
So basically what you would need to do is set up an intent reciever that is listening to the mic, and when theres any input activate the brightness of the display.
For more detailed help I'd have to actually start coding to be of more help. Hope this helps.
Regards,
Akshay
