Make two new blank wav files on your desktop/laptop, named MenuPop.wav and hwandsw.wav, and copy them to a STORAGE CARD on your phone. Then move them to the Windows Directory (say, "Yes" to any prompts for overwriting existing files), soft reset the phone, and Bob's your uncle.

go to start>settings>sounds and notifications and tap screen taps and hardwar buttons, this will remove the click sound for both screen taps and button taps

disable menu/program click sound

i like keeping my volume on max so i can hear my phone ring when it's not on me. but, the menu / program select click sounds is annoying. I don't need to hear a sound everytime i click an item. I can see that i'm clicking it.
Anyway, how do i disable that sound. like when you click the start menu or a program?
See:

Look for SoundzCool.
Or replace some WAVes in the \windows directory:
hwandsw.wav - click on menu item
MenuPop.wav - StartMenu click
on my mdac2 its under start\settings\sounds and notifications. un tick everything but Programs.

Umfortunatelly - this will disable more sounds
There are 21 separate sound events and they can be disabled and enabled usings the EVENTMASK variable in the registry or change the current theme (21 line multi_sz variable)
I never use the EVENTMASK variable (dunno how they calculate that)
The sound event must be wav type but can be located anywhere on your device. Use the full path when editting one of the 21 lines (or leave it empty if you want no sound for that event ;0)
See this post on the board: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=50166
If anybody knows of an sound scheme editor for wm2003 or higher
let us know.
Cheers

Maping of the OK button

Is there a solution to map the OK button to an app which closes programs?
AE Button Plus does not allow to map the OK button.
It does, you select 'File' then 'Add button'. Press the OK button and then 'Add key' and it will be added to the list where you can assign it to an action.

I beleive pqzii is a good program to map the keys, but unless someone posts a manual as to how to use it, this program will render useless to newbies. Of course, those who are very knowledgable in programming will be the only ones benefiting from the hard work of the writer of this program.
Bottom line, how to use this program? Can someone who knows how to use it be kind enough to give us, newbies, some help?
Personally, I am using the X button program and it is great. I like to map the bottom OK button to become the X button to close programs from running in the background.
Thanks in advance to those who are willing to help.
My experience is :
1. Go to the install folder of PQzII with file explorer (picture 1)
2. Choose PQzII setup.exe (picture 2)
3. Tick the "Use OK button(Task Close/All)" checkbox under Windows option (picture 3)
4. Untick the " Use this function" checkbox under Icon option (picture 4)
5. Create a shortcut to Windows/Startup folder (picture 5)
HI blcc:
Thanks for the above. But the OK buttin still does not close the program - as I click it, it seems to have closed it but I looked at the Memory to find out the programs running - the one tat supposed to have been closed is still there.
BTW - One more newbie question about step 5 - how do your create a short cut to the Windos\StartUp?
Thanks again.

I can really close the program with OK button after apply the setting. For creating a shortcut, I use resco file explorer, tap and hold at the item and a pop up menu will appear. Choose "cut", and go to the statup folder, tap and hold again and choose "paste shortcut". That is.
Hope you understand my poor English.

Hi Blcc:
Your English is very good and it makes mine pale.
Thank you once agin, my OK button now closes running program and there is nothing is the background.
I hope others who are hoping to utilize these two programs will happen to read this thread.
Thanks a million.

4075 is what mine is set to.
PQzII was a bit buggy for me.
is there a way to have exceptions to closing the programs?eg:i like messaging and contacts to always be running in the background so if i press the ok hardware button it only minimizes messaging and contacts while really closing the other applications.

Hey, thks.
Appreciate it very much
This will, instead, open the phone app when you slide open the phone - which I personally think is better.

if you start to key a number you go to the phone app even when you have the pop out menu
so I don't see why disabling it

Yup it's possible.
Need to terminate 'ASLauncer.exe' in one of the Running Processes.
This will stop any application to run when u slide open the phone.

You need to have mortscript installed in the main memory
can this be done with the slide actions app?
if not you can get it to do other things instead
It works!
Thanks!
Hey,
I put the files exactly where you say to.
And it doesn't work.
I can manually start kill.exe and it will work
but for some reason it won't auto run on reset.
Can you give me full paths ?
Im running the latest Niki Project ROM from here, 6.1 professional
thanks

Hello,
The Run.mscr should be put in the \Windows\StartUp folder.
The Kill folder should be put in the \Program Files folder.
Simple fix
Hi there,
Also posted this here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=359887 but for completeness here it is again...
I just got my Niki a couple of weeks ago (with T-mobile in the UK) and this has been bugging me too ever since.
I figured that there must be a registry setting to control this somewhere as the Keypad Quicktasks are able to adjust this behaviour. Last night , I finally found it.
The setting in question is:
HKLM/Software/HTC/Biotouch/ActionScreen/Check
With the Keypad Quicktasks on, it is set to 1. With them off it is set to 0 and will instead launch the phone app.
Simply set it to anything else (e.g. 2) and both the Quicktasks and the phone application are disabled upon sliding open the phone. The active slide event is still recognised and sliding the phone open will still answer an incoming call.
Sweet.
Nope.. the slide open to answer call still function.... can always restart ur phone if anything abnormal.. then the ASLauncer.exe will appear again.. and ur action when slide open is as in operation again..

A few real simple qiestions...

I just got my hands on a HD2 and I think it's great, but it will be even greater if someone could enlighten me on the following
1) How do I change/edit the quick links in the home/today page? (i looked everywhere from settings in the phone section to the settings in the windows mobile section but i can't find anything.)
2) How do i change my message tone to something not in-bulid in the phone? (meaning my trimmed mp3s)
thanks a million

2) all you have to do is copy the mp3 song to the windows directory in your device

Look for Touch X Reset in this forrum. It is a simple & usefull cab. Put the icon shortcut in Home tab and, hey presto!

I want a hardware soft reset:
w/o any touch of the screen (for the time of screen hanging):
Long press of endkey --> soft reset (w/o confirmation w/o any menu)
If your device has hanged so bad the screen doesn't respond, it most likely won't be able to launch a reset shortcut either.
Just remove the battery like we do in these cases.
I found it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=674917&highlight=EndKey
There is a "endkey.exe" in your windows folder. Simply find a soft reset .exe (if you don't already have one) change it so that it is named "endkey.exe" and place it in the windows folder.
Job done. Dunno why so many people try and make it so much more complicated...
