Dear all,
I'll use this thread for updated versions of Schap's Advanced Config XML updates. It will contain a zip and a cab-file which installs the English version of the XML (AdvancedConfig_040C.xml). A changelog will be posted later in a wiki...
Please note that installing it on 3.x will work but will remove several of the new tweaks in 3.x.
Regards,
Nika.
Attached zipped-xml/cab-file contains a new version of the AdvancedConfig xml. Changelog is in the Advanced Config Wiki.
Nice work! I assume I can run this on my Hermes, & is there info on options that don't apply to my tytn1 (like for kaeser only)? Also, do u recommend I uninstall my current schaps v2.1, or should I just run your cab over it?
Thank you for all your efforts on improving Advanced Config, maintaining a changelog/wiki is a really good idea!
At the moment I'm too busy to care of Advanced Config development, but I will release a new version with new features later in july, and I hope it will fully support lastest HTC devices (Touch Dual, Cruise, Diamond,...).
For device specific tweaks, don't forget to add a condition to make them visible only on supported devices.
Thanks Nika, great work!
Grtz, Leo

I second that motion! That's an excellent idea. I had been using a second application to do so. But having it in "Advanced Config" would be most excellent!

Advanced config crashes
Hello.
On my HTC Diamond, the following sequence of steps crashes the program:
Menu -> Connection settings
Long click on my internet connection (Orange Internet) which is set to Always On
From contextual menu I choose Enabled (I want to set it to auto disconnect, which can't happen if I let it on Always On)
I get the message Error. An unexpected error has occured in AdvancedConfig.exe.
I'm using the latest XML.
Please help - I understand auto disconnect can save battery life, which is important for a Diamond.
Thank you for a great program
Hi all,
I've seen each and every of your responses, thank you for your feedback! I will respond to all of them, but probably sometime at the end of this week as I am too busy to make the changes this week... more soon
Regards,
Nika.

Give me some feedback

First of all, I've uploaded a new version of the cab and XML! See the wiki and below for more details...

Not sure what you mean with info on the options? Currently restrictions are either set by device or by a registry key being available. Here's a list of the device-restricted tweaks:
Slide wake up: Kaiser, Diamond, Mogul
Phone sleep during call: Kaiser, Polaris, Diamond
Fast sleep during call: Kaiser, Polaris, Diamond
Mute phone when flipped: Diamond
The ones restricted by key are too many to mention - if a tweak is missing let me know and I'll let you know why it might be restricted for your device.
For the updates, please see the Wiki (added to my signature). Yes, you need to install both the 2.1.0.0 version of Schap's and my xml to get the latest XML's. As opposed to KaiserTweak I am not able to include the AdvancedConfig.exe unless Schap's allows me and provides me with the correct certicates...

Sorry, that's not part of the XML but externally controlled by the application. Schap's is going to have to provide a fix for that...

Not sure what you mean? The cab only overwrites the old version of the English XML...I've not written a Dutch version of the XML (way to much time to translate + I hate Dutch on any technical items - all my devices like phones, laptops, tv's, vcr's, etc., are set to English even though I'm 100% Dutch!).

Hmmm... I've added this to the new xml, but there seem to be more keys that might be related. See for example the following webpage:
http://www.omnisoft.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=669&PN=1
This mentions two other keys:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\http\Shell\Open\Command
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\EFBROWSER
Should I add two more tweaks for these too or is the above sufficient? FYI, I've restricted it to devices that have the :MSPIE key only...
Have fun testing!

Nika.
Ok, U clarified my Hermes questions.
The new wiki page looks good and should be very helpful.
I'll run the xml cab and let U know how it goes on the Hermes.
thanks
Super
Now I finally made AdvancedConfig work!
One thing though.. after running it, on my bottom line, the "soft buttons", are they called that?, on left side "Calendar", right side "Contacts".
On the LEft side it is now written "\windows\ca..." instead of Calendar, the right side is still ok.
I'm using an norwegian version, so maybe that can have something to say (If I could get english version of the operating system I would be very grateful though)
Edit: Used the latest zip: AdvancedConfig_0409-nikagl-20080707-2339.zip

Hi Asbjorn,
When you run the softkey editor (Key Mapping) you have two lines - the top-line is the file it runs and the bottom line is the name it has on the menu's - so change the name (second line for the Left and Right Softkey) into Calendar and Contacts and it should be ok...

Not sure if this has been posted in the Wizard forums before but i just found this in the Universal forums and now have a new Today plugin that displays the status of my Wireless connections. It seems to work for everything except GPRS
Just add the keys below to the Wizards registry.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Today\Items\"Wireless"]
"DLL"="netui.dll"
"Order"=dword:00000000
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
"Type"=dword:00000004
For the full info on this, check the Universal forum here:

There is a photo in the Universal post but here's a screenshot of my K-JAM. The items only seem to activate on the Today screen when you enable the Particualr Wireless mode. As WiFi is disabled as soon as i connect ActiveSync i enabled WiFi in Comm Manager and quickly took the screenshot before WiFi was turned off, hence the unavailable status.
Note you cannot interact with this plugin. it is purely display only.
CHeerts,
Thanks puckster shows up on the list of the items list/today but not on the screen. I assume that is cuz I have no wifi connection right

When I added the entry, I had to go into the Today setting and uncheck, then re-check "Wireless" which made it appear. At a minimum you should see a bluetooth symbol that says on or off.
If you still can't get it to show up, double check the dword entries you created.
Btw - thanks for bringing this over to the Wizard forum Puckster..it's a handy little Today item.
Mine displays Carrier / Flight Mode & Bluetooth as well as WiFi status.
If WiFi is disabled it does not display on the today plugin however my Bluetooth is always displayed there even when turned off. The Carrier (Vodafone in my case) changes to Flight Mode when you enable it.
I would possibly re-check the registry keys. Also i just remembered i did add 2 extra keys to my registry that werent mentioned in the Universal thread.
I have attached a registry export of the key i created on my K-JAM so maybe you could use this as template as it works on mine.
NOTE: All of the keys are decimal dword entries except DLL which is a string.
Chris
Thanks for your help and I have rechecked everything and all seems ok. Phm reg editor can't seem to import the reg file you gave me ;(
It's nice to have the indicators...but I wish they didn't require the real estate of a whole additional Today bar. I would love to find a way to put indicators like that in the icon tray at the bottom (just above the Contacts soft key image).
this is exactly what i wanted much appreciated.
no go here, but I'm on an old, old ROM
Thanx Puckster, worked like a charm
Exactly what i was lookinf for ty again

Hi,
I running WM5 on my Himalaya and I have it by default. However, when I tap in the area, it takes me to the Comm Manager or Wireless Manager.
Same on the Wizard or should I check potential differences in the reg?
Cheers,

yes. please check the differences. When I click on it, it does nothing.
Thanks.

ammar you are the best man, I have tried all other methods. yours only worked. God bless you.
I ran ammar's cab. The Wireless box appears in my Today screen, and I tried checking and unchecking it, tried soft resets, even tried a re-install of the cab file. I have a T-Mobile MDA, and I have SPB Today Plus and PHM Traylaunch running. I'm using the black theme.
Anything else I might try?
Hey guys,
I need to switch the location of my contacts and calendar for my softkeys, anyone know how to do that?
Here is the location in the registry:
hkcu/software/microsoft/today/keys/112
This is for the calendar. Change "default" to the text you want displayed and "open" to the path of the app.
If it doesn't exist, create a new key called 113 under:
hkcu/software/microsoft/today/keys
same setup under 113 as 112.
Here's a slightly easier way of doing it. Download this file, rename the extension to .cpl and put in your \windows folder, soft-reset and then goto Start -> Settings -> System -> Soft-Key
See next below for the cab.
Here it is in Cab file for those who prefer a 'one-click' solution....
The control panel item in the cab kyphur attached above is integrated into the custom Cingular ROMs 2.24 and above...that I build anyway.

Was it present in Cingular_RUU_Wizard_AKU2.3_Custom_RNG_THM_A2DP_TEST.exe or perhaps added to the followup? I don't see the shortcut present in Start --> Settings --> System.
I don't particularly want it, but am more curious why I don't see it and wondering if there's anything more than just the radio ROM different between the two builds.
Thanks for all your hard work on this! I'm on record as the first to kiss your @$$ in my tagline. Though that guy offering to have your kids & seahorse stuff - well, that was a pretty strong show of support even if a bit spooky. I thought it might be cool if others running your custom ROMs did the same with their tags and you could see the positive impact on the community by a show of raw numbers.
just wondering im trying to map my left softkey to new sms and well it says cant find tnsms does any one know how to fix that or no
Summiter:
First, let me kneel, grovel, worship, etc. The new ROM is awesome!
However...
In the Softkey program that you included, you need to change the name of the file that "Calendar" accesses to just 'Calendar.exe', not 'HTCCalendar.exe'. (on the 8125, anyway).
Haven't tried the rest of the soft key functions, but that one had a little problem. Easy enough to fix:
HKCU
Software
Microsoft
Today
Key 113 (at least, on my machine, might be different...),
change the "Open" value to \windows\Calendar.exe.

Put the attached file in your \Windows folder and soft reset. Then you shoud be able to assign a soft-key to "New SMS" and it will work.

It's in test2..my bad. The radio and the softkey applet are the only things added to test2.
I don't need any thanks. I do like to see folks learning and asking productive questions though.
If you want to remove the softkey program, how do you do it? I can't delete the .cpl file from /Windows for the life of me. Thanks.
(Softkey is quite buggy... plus a lot of it's mappings are incorrect. Even if I edit the registry and change the mapping, softkey changes it back to the incorrect mapping upon soft-reset).
i might be needing this..
(anyone know how to tag a thread without bumping it?)
Files include the default WM6 alarm wavs, the original ringers including oldphone, Schap's purple theme (thanks!), the "no sounds" wavs to stop those menu clicks, Smartskey copied to \Program Files (but not activated), startclean to \Startup to remove program history and the green welcomhead.95 splash screen.
Reg tweaks include..
Notifications - removed "Connection Established" and set "Incoming Mail" to Alarm3
Sounds - disable annoying beeps when changing call volume or dropped calls
Inbox - disabled account selector, empty deleted items set to manual, return to inbox when deleting.
Pocket IE - temp files, history and cookies stored on storage card, Cleartype and search set to google.
Sleuth's google tweak for Windows Live Search
Screen size set to Largest, ClearType enabled including Landscape.
TimeZones tab displayed and enabled.
Battery removed from Today screen and replaced with clock and clock displayed on all screens.
Backlight changed from 30 seconds to 1 minute
Also, glyphcache is set at 32768, file system cache untouched, IR Beam turned off.

edited 10-30-2007 DP_WM6 with Vibrate is a slightly modified WM6 cab with AT&T Splash removed, Security Policies modified for unsigned cabs and RAPI access (Mobile Registry Editor won't give a "access denied", HSDPA icon (when available) and also, with Schaps' permision, his neat looking com manager vibrate file. Schaps Vibrate is renamed to allow installing this into a ROM that already has Vibrate. Delete either my Schaps_TrayIcon_MannerMode or TrayIcon_MannerMode from \Windows\Startup. BTIcon, latest XMMobiResetter and Landscape Cleartype are included. This is the same cab as the DP_WM6 with Vibrate & Batteryguage without the RandomAccess and Batterguage.

yes sir you are correct, i did it all with xml.. if you open my cab with wince and click on the pre and post xml under the provisioning category you will see the xml code i hacked up all the different xml files for settings and made 2 seperate ones.. if you decide to do a similar thing, make sure you leave out the first and last lines "<WAP-PROVISIONING DOC>" .... Wince does not like these...
My findings for settings
Nice job !
In between multiple flahes of various roms I found a big relief in skipping the first windows dialogs with date, mail, touch calibration etc. by adding a blank file "welcome.not" in the root of the storage card and add the touch settings [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\TOUCH\CalibrationData] in my own settings cab.
It works very well for me, so I thought I'd share it.

I just got my HD and is brilliant !
Does anyone know if we can use Schap`s tweak on the HD ?
First thing I installed after Net3.5, runs all ok without any problems so it seems.
Have set all the tweaks I'd done for the Diamond and it restarted fine, also changed the icons to 4 across and that's fine too..
Schaps 3.3 I installed.
ooh can we see a screenshot of the 4 column version of programs on the HD? You would probably hardly need to scroll as everything would be on one page.
Aye, I'll upload when I get home
Here's a screen shot - I use the cab file to make this change though not the Config tools

Which cab file did you use - pls post it ...!
THANK you
If you have a registry editor you can also add the settings yourself:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\
Add New Key “IconConfig”
In there Add DWORD Value:
“HorizontalIconSpacing” Dec value=”112″
“VerticalIconSpacing” Dec value=”115″
“IconTitleFontSize” Dec value=”6″
then softreset - voila!
You can use Schaps too to do the change, the settings are under the user settings at the top. Just change the values to the ones above..
Just tried it with Schaps ACTool and it workedd perfectly
Thanks to Trixster101 for the hint!

Good tweak. Thanks for the tip.
Has anyone tried to put 5 icons per row? If so, what should be the values of those registry?
Edit: yes. I now have six icons per row.
I have horizontal spacing : 75
Vertical spacing :115
Icon size:5

I use the Advanced Config v3.3 and its wonderful . I have managed to set my opening animated gif from HTC to my own ones and with my own WAV audio file and to rename my Bluetooth name to what I want... That tool is epic and very easy to use.
As it warns tho, be careful because improper use can much up your phone. Im very happy with my new customisations.

New Tweaks Added See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4427351&postcount=2
I have recently started to use MortScript to apply tweaks to my TP2. I have previously written little apps to disable the power button when the keyboard is open and one to hide folders from HTC Album. In addition I wrote a few more scripts to apply tweaks after I reset my device.
I have now bundled them all up into one CAB and I thought I would share the result - hAndyUtils
Tweaks in Version 1.0
Power Button Options
Disable the Short/Long Press of the Power Key when the keyboard is open with options to reset the battery power timeout or wake up the device using any key.
Hide Folders in HTC Album
Hide or Show Folders in HTC Album - for instance I have a number of folders on my storage card thta contain images from software that appear in HTC Album which I found annoying. This tweak allows you to hide those folders.
Communications
Bluetooth Notifications
Disable/Enable Bluetooth Notifications for Device Disconnect or Volume Warning
WiFi Options
Enable/Disable Wifi always on.
Camera Tweaks
Enable/Disable 7MP Panoramic picture tweak
Add/Remove Burst, Sports, Video Share and GPS Photo to the Camera Capture Options.
Manila Start Menu
Enable/Disable the Manila Start Menu (Doesn't work with WM6.5)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is my intention to add more tweaks as I come across them and use them. If anyone has any suggestions of tweaks to add please feel free
Andy

I'm just confused. I installed MortScript first, then I copied the cap to my machine (MDA V) and installed it.
Then I started it.... and.... and.... nothing happens
What did I do wrong?

Could you please tell me which version of Mortscript you have installed.
Also, could you copy the attached script to your device, rename to test.mscr run it and tell me what happens.
New Version 1.3 In Post #1 - BT Notifications Fixed
Thank you, very useful.
If I could make a recommendation, something that I would add is the ability to enable a notification for if a sms or mms doesn't send.

Great idea, and probably a great set of tweaks.
I have a similar problem to siflaar. I realized, that I had to change all references to "Program Files" in every .mscr file, since it's called "Programmer" in my native language. I've also changed the same thing in the link in my Start Menu.
I can launch the application fine, and I get all the different settings. Every change I try to make is succesful according to the app., but when the device is restarted, there is no change what so ever..
Any suggestions?
I'm a Mortscript novice, but would it be possible to make an "international" version, that would work with any language out of the box?

Apologies for this oversight. I assume that the registry entries are specific to your language also, therefore although the registry updates have been added they are not in right places. I am working on tidying up the scripts and will try to make an international version. I will let you know when it's done.
Thanks for your input.
I have just noticed another code mistake in the BT Notifications. I will fix now and upload version 1.4 shortly.
Version 1.4 Uploaded - BT Notification Fixed (Hopefully!)

That's good news. Thank you. I'll wait patiently.
I have recently flashed a WM6.5 ROM and there are a number of tweaks that do not work. The worst for me is the disable power button. I am trying to fix this now and will update the software as soon as I have a solution.
The Power Button Options Should Now Be Fixed. Fingers Crossed. Due to Registry Differences I have uploaded a WM6.5 Version which should overcome some of the issues.
