Need Sounds, NOT Ringtones - Mogul, XV6800 General

It is so hard to find just sounds. I need to find more sound files for settings on my VZW6800. I am looking for door-bell, horns, fog horns, shotguns, sounds etc. those types of sounds. Web searching always brings me to ring tones.
Can anyone share some sound files or links to GOOD sites if you follow me here?
Thx

A quick search for 'sound bytes' showed this site:

Changing Sounds of Notifications - such as "Message Sen

I searched the registry, found nothing, searched through some folders and found nothing either.
So as the subject says, is it possible to change these types of sounds? I've got some great sounds in mind. E.g. the sonic the hedgehog ring, for this event in particular.
... For new text I have the sonic 2 - 1 up sound
If you could help that would be great!
Hay there, yep this can be done, thou first you need the new message or notifcation clip to be a .wav file type, so you need to convert the items to wav first.
Once you done that place the newly converted wav file into the windows folder, not into windows>rings like you would do for ringtones.
Then goto settings, and notifcation and sound menu and select the new one there.
Hope this helps.
Ooo
I've been trying to figure this out, how could I change the sound that plays in my ear for callwaiting? lol i feel stupid because I can't figure this out!!!
Thanks!
Yup, I am not too happy in this realm as well. My busy tone sounds like a Modem that is trying to handshake, and that is when it decides that it is going to alert me. I would really like to swap out some of that stuff.
I beleive my expertise will come in handy here
There are many sounds which can be changed which ARE NOT visible in the "Sounds And Notifications" control panel. They can be accessed by pointing your reg editor of choice to...
"HKey_Current_User\ControlPanel\Sounds"
We'll take the busy tone as an example...
Navigate to "HKey_Current_User\ControlPanel\Sounds\BusyTone"
In there you'll see:
(Default)..................(value not set)
Catagory..................InCall
Script.......................apr
Sound......................HTCBusy.wav
Change the sound one to any file on your pda. (Must be an mp3 or a wave file) (Include the full path if the sound file isn't in "/windows") The changes should take effect immediately, if they don't you've not done it correctly...
Hope this helps you all...
Note: To my knowledge, you can't change the message sent tone, sorry...

T-Mobile MDA

Is there anyway to have a custom text message ring or a custom alarm ring?

um...for what/where?

PS Generic answer: sure!
Yes. But first, a suggestion (actually two):
You'll get a much better/faster response if you make your thread title more descriptive... "T-Mobile MDA" could mean anything! And in a forum dedicated to this device, it's sort of redundant.
And for the second suggestion... well, not to give you grief, but your question is *very* basic. You could probably figure it out by reading the manual, or poking around on your MDA. Not a subject really worthy of its own thread.
That said, here's the answer:
Go into Start>Settings>Sounds & Notifications. There are two tabs; play around with what you see there. You can set sounds to most things that you do or that happen on your MDA. If you have a custom or special sound that you want, copy the sound file into the My Documents folder on your MDA; and then you will be able to select it in the Play Sound selection box on the Notifications tab.
Okay, sorry about the title, newbie issue.
But please don't assume that I haven't read the manual. Yes I have already done numberous times what you have suggested, I have plenty of files, but for some reason custom files are only compatible for ring tones. So unless you can provide me new information without being condescending as to the simplicity of the question, then don't provide anything.
Sorry for my tone, it just goes back to the saying about assuming.
New sms Tones
What you need to do is to put the sound you are after, in the form of a wav file into the windows folder on your device. It then appears in the drop down list in "Sounds & Notifications".
You can get some good tones from http://www.spbclub.com/index.php . You will need to register but they also have some great tips there to.
Hope this is of use.
OK, sorry... I really didn't mean to condescend or patronize.
Ixtana's post was good: Have you tried WAV files instead of MP3s?

WM6 alarm clock and mp3's

I've been poking around on my G4 Wizard with WM6 flashed and I'm not able to figure out how to use an mp3 as one of the alarm sounds.
Has anyone else figured this out or have a link to someplace that has? I've found nothing on the 'net so far.
Dave
Nevermind. Found the answer. Search FTW!
I've always found that the speed you find an answer to your question is directly related to how soon you start a new forum thread asking.
Dave
can you post the answer here for the rest of us...thanks.

Ringtone manager is included in a few of the ROMs, including Faria's The Real Thing. It automatically finds all mp3s on your phone or storage card and includes them in the list of possible ringtones to choose from
For alarms or for ringtones?
I can use mp3 ONLY for ringtones
Is there a registry edit you can do to enable MP3's for Alarms as well?
Ringtone Manager
Where can I download it?
This is the one?

I still can't change the tones for my alarm using this. Am I missing something here?

Getting sounds into the menu in Sounds & Notifications

Hi all,
Maybe a silly question, but I did a search and couldn't find anything really
I'm trying to get a sound into the drop down menu in (sounds & notifications) the notifications tab.
It was a MP3 file, which I have converted to a wav file, but this still won't be picked up by the menu
I have the O2 XDA Mini S...
Any help most appriciated
put them into \Windows
Cheers hanmin...jobs done
Another noob question please...
is it possible to attach a ringtone sound to a contact...I know you can add a voice tag, but I want to attach different ring sounds to different name contacts
In WINDOWS/rings add your ringtone clip there. Then in contacts, when you edit or make a new contact, just below the name it says picture, then work, cell, etc numbers, then ringtone...click that and a list should pop up for you to choose from. Keep your ringtones to about 20 second clips, and reduce the size to 100-200kb per clip. I found these things work best, and I've been making ringtones for a few years now.
akashastrega, that brill...many thanks for your help.
Just got a sound that says "warning, warning, its the wife, its the wife" with a siren in the background...absolute brilliant

Custom SMS Ringtone Help

Hi. I've been searching threads for the past two days trying to find the answer because I was sure that this has been asked before, but I couldnt find any threads dealing with it.
SO
My question is: Is there any way to set a custom SMS ringtone on my WM6.1 device that will stop playing when I read the text message? I am able to set the ringtone, but it plays through the whole song, even after the message is closed. Does anybody know what to do?
NOTE:
I am using an XV6800 (VERIZON)
ROM VERSION: 3.57.605.1 (MR1 UPDATE)
I don't know of a way to make the full song stop, but you can make the song shorter. Download Audacity on your PC http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ and us it to cut the song down to the desired length. It's a good audio editing program and it's free.
Use Myxer. Download your song from your comp, make it as short/
long as you want and then send it to your phone. This is the link https://www.myxer.com
Assign custom message tone in WM6
Windows mobile is infuriating in just this way; that simple-to-do tasks are made a nightmare, if possible at all. As it is WM6 comes with no way to just select your sound file and set it as your message tone, however it is possible to do what you're after.
copy/send the sound to your device, you can put it anywhere.
open File Manager
Find your file and use menu > edit > copy
go to My Device > Application Data > Sounds. Paste your sound here.
It will now show up on the sounds list. Hope this helps
Works!! Thank you!!
