Is there a way to map the button on my wired headset?
Specifically, I am trying to get it to activate Microsoft Voice Command
Thanks

Make a copy of voicecmd.exe and rename it to sddialer.exe. Place sddialer in \Windows folder. You can then press and hold your wired headset button to run MS voice command.

I've never tried Media Player directly, but I would think you could do something similar, copy then rename media player exe to sddialer.exe.
But before you try that, if you already have MS Voice Command mapped to the button, why would you want to map Media Player instead? You can launch media player using voice command.

Re: Recognize files. The key is to put a shortcut in the /Windows/Start Menu/Programs/ folder with a usable name. Then say "Open Name."
Re: TCPMP as the default. Voice Command is set up to control WMP (e.g., "Play song". However, if you redefine the default app for file types and put shortcuts as above, "Open <song name>" should open the file in TCPMP. However, the other groovy media controls are particular to WMP.
I WISH: Microsoft would release a new version of VC with hooks that developers could use to control their apps. In general... much more customization for VC. Overall, VC works pretty darn well given no need for training. But I wish for MORE MORE MORE.
Go into TCPMP settings, and set the file associations correctly so all your music files start in TCPMP, not WMplayer.
the file assiocation does not work
I want to play guitar into my phone and save it as a wav or mp3 so I can upload it to myspace. Is this possible?

It is. Read http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/menneisyys/112005SoundRecorderApps.asp
WM5 notes as a capability to take voice note. It will save your voice as WAV.
Built-in recording capability
Despite the frequency that that article is advertised,I have found the software mentioned to be less than optimal.
Regarding the built-in capability, this is possible by holding down the Voice Recorder button (or whatever it's called) during a call. It will load up Notes and start recording. Unfourtunately, once you stop holding the button down the recording ends. I have tried re-mapping the function to the single-press option of that button but it has not worked. And the command line options don't seem to work any way other than by holding that button down. If anyone else has any ideas how to get the Notes recording to start with a button press or command line, I'm all ears.
fluxist
regarding the notes program, you can press the record button on the bottom of the screen while in the notes program and it will continue recording audio until you press the stop button.
If you are in the notes program and do not see the audio recording toolbar at the bottom of the screen...choose menu (bottom right) and check the option to view the toolbar.

My question to you is, why would you want to use your phone to capture audio? Depending on what kind of computer set up you have, you could probably get better quality then that of the wizard.

dude!! i do this kind of stuff all the time... just get 1/4" to 1/8" adapter and assuming you have an electric or acoustic/electric you plug it right into your mic jack on your computer. for software i use Acid 5.0 but i'm sure you find something to use... heck even MS Soundrecorder could save it to wav. good luck dude!!
Here ist my Question:
Is it possible to control a MP3 Player with the standard Headset? For exmaple:
One tap on the little Button (on the micro): next song
Two taps: previous song
Holding button: Stop/start
What do you mean? perhaps with a little softwaretool or a good customizable MP3 player...
I had the same question. Can the standard headset be used for anythign other than hang up/ answer / redial? what about accessing voice command?

No, cannot. You are much better off with a bluetooth remote/headset like this one, Jabra BT3030 at around 38€:

Added bonus for me: I have two mobiles, can connect both and take calls from both, while music holds.
Does anyone know if the W100 wired remote works on the HD?
Cheers

And will it work with windows mediaplayer and tcpmp, or does it only work with the player in tf3d?
I was very enthousiastic to get the RC 100 when I bought my HD at the store and I asked for the RC 100 but unfortunately the merchant tried it and it doesnt work, incompatible, this is really upseting that HTC could not THINK about working on a remote control for the HD, that would be really very useful to control music/calls without taking it out of your pocket...cause it is so huge ! anyway....we wait and see...for any new suggestion.
hi,
I found a new program in the market to make the controls on your Bluetooth headset work with music players, other than the HTC Player!
Program name: "headset button fix"
But it requires that you uninstall the HTC Music Player.
Question: if I dont like it...
How can reinstall the HTC Player??
Where can I get that program, so I can reinstall it???
Thanks
Two questions:
First, where do you get this program?
Secondly, how do you uninstall the HTC Music program???
Any media player can easily top the HTC Music program's functionality.

that is what I figured .. I have to do...
I have a Dash 3G that can successfully connect to my home network. My issue is that I am trying to use file explorer to enter a UNC path, but it is no where to be found.
I even noticed that the keypad is missing the '\' button. I would love to be able to get to my music from my phone.

Use Total Commander or Resco instead.
The \ can be found by hitting the SYM key ( the pound sign # )
I am using Resco Explorer 2007 and do not see an option to input a UNC?
As far as I know, you cannot browse a network from any Windows Mobile Standard device.
What about accessing music through Windows Media Player?

Pocket player (with the plugin) will let you stream music from you PC to your device.
