Hi All,
When I connect via BT with Activesync. When I set passtrough on activesync I should be able to surf using the PC's BroadBand connection I understand. My question is, will all other internet related traffic be send with the BT connection ? ie, will MSN Messenger and things like PocketIRC be able to connect via BT also ?
Thanks,
Rob.
as far as i know it should be possible just like you should be able to brows the LAN network the pc with activsync is connected to
Hi there,
Don't know if this is even possible I've read all the articles I could find here and tried Microsoft web pages. If you can help ill most appreciate it.
(Apologies if this has been answered please let me know the link...)
My internet connection (at home) is via NTL cable, My 4 pc's connect to the internet via a Linksys router, each PC has a private IP address along the 192.168.1.x subnet which NAT to the router for internet access - all transparent.
I do not have a proxy server at home, connection is established because each PC uses the router as a gateway for internet access.
My XDA2 refuses to talk to the internet via Activesync. I can confirm that my handheld connectiviy text bubble says that the internet connection is pointing to the PC connection. the paramaters in Active sync passthorugh are set to internet - But it just won't work.
I even tried configuring the proxy option to the routers address no avail.
The XDA wants to keep defaulting back to its GPRS connection.
At the moment I have disabled the phone completely to stop it dialing out whilst I am testing.
I'm out of ideas can anyone help !!!!!!!!
I managed to fix this problem. I set up a personal proxy server from
http://www.youngzsoft.net/ccproxy/ its an excellent proxy only 815k in size and its intelligent enough to understand NAT'd IP addresses etc for connections to routers.
All I had to do was to configure the XDA 2 work profile with the proxy server address then the internet passthrough worked fine.
For Bluetooth access (I use a D-link USB bluetooth adapter). I had a problem getting the XDA 2 to launch the bluetooth connection under the activesync. I used the excellent pocket bluetooth tools
http://216.239.39.104/translate_c?h...t+bluetooth+tools&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8,
after installing this the connection worked straight away with BT internet access as well.
even though i upgraded to the new O2 rom for the xda2, i still had problems until i resorted back to the bluetooth tools, so i have internet via bluetooth gondle to my adsl. But the internet speed on my xda2 is still damm slow, perhaps its limited by the bluetoot connection speed. (my adsl is a 1mb line plus a netgear wgt624 wireless router connecting my laptop to the internet. any idea how i could get a better speed?
also what i like to do is able to access all shared files on the network or on my actual laptop from my xda2. activesync lets me browse from the laptop, but i can use the xda2 to browse the laptops files. any idea how i could do that? the laptop itsself has a 802.11g connection and an assigned ip address, but i guess that has nothhing to do with the bluetooth connection. so has anyone got any suggestions how i could access the files? some detailes guidance would be extremely welcome. thanks.
Hi I am new to this forum, and like the person above am trying to find a way to browse files on my PC through my XDA2 (i-mate).
I am connected via bluetooth to my PC, activesync is working fine this way, as is internet browsing on my XDA2 using my PC's internet connection.
All I wan't to do is be able to sit away from my PC and get files from it to the XDA2 via bluetooth.
Apparently using Resco File Explorer and a wi-fi connection you can set up a network with your PC, but when I try this with Bluetooth it doesn't work - surely bluetooth can offer the same file sharing - just slower???
Please help us if you know a way!

I have a trouble connecting to a terminalserver when I am connected to Wlan. When using GPRS or GSM I can connect to my office server with no problem.
When using Wlan at home the server always times out. When I am on my work lan I get the question about adding a VPN or proxy. Since we do not use VPN or proxy I do not realy do not now what to do.
Are you not able to connetct to terminalserver via Wlan?
Best regard to all.
On my laptop I am connected to a LAN (for work and internet). At the same time I use the dial up (t mobile web and walk plus through the phone, connected on Bluetooth). . I want to be able to use only certain services/destinations over dial up and everything else to be routed over the LAN. For example, set up one browser, a messenger, outlook to go over the dial up while all my other traffic goes though the LAN. How can I achieve this?
I thought of using some proxy server software to set up one browser to go over the dial up but how do I prevent everything else going over dial up then?
Cheers,
Dan
in pc network properties under tcp/ip for a connection you can set
metric's
the connection with the lowest metric will be the first the pc will access for a connection
so if you 1 have a normal network without internet on wired LAn and a wifi which give internet
then you can avoid the LAN which normaly gets first priority try to control the internet
you do that in this case by setting a lower metric for the wifi then the LAN
thanks Rudegar, I will try it.
hi,
i have a hd2 and want to run different network services like ftp server oder a vnc server on it.
when i connect to my pda while it is connected to my home network with wlan, everything ist working as expected. eg. i start the ftp server on my pda, and connect to it from my desktop using the ip adress that it has obtained from the dhcp server, also vnc and other services are working fine.
the problems starts when i try to connect to my pda over the cellular data connection gprs/3g. the device establish the connection, i can browse the internet oder use email, everything works as expected. but when i try to access the ip address that the telecom provider has given to my pda, i cant make a connection. i get the ipaddress over tools like vxutil oder pocketdhcp and also try webservices like whatismyip.com, to asure that the ip is correct. but i simply cant connect to the device. its like all ports are closed.
are there any restrictions in the ip stack of the pda for incoming connections or is this a provider firewalling thing? i tried 2 different provider my self an both seems to have this problem.

it comes down to which ports your phone company leaves open most don't leave too many open
hi,
thats what i expected too. as far as i can see german t-(in)mobile and eplus seems to block hardcore everything. the main application for me is vnc, i want our customers to be able to connect remotly with the ultra vnc sc tool. so the only way to do this when im at gprs/3g, is to use some kind of repeater software on that is always on and is connected to the internet all the time.
regards mad
where is i canfound related forum like this??
