Fix for 8125 and TILT, may also work on HERMES
This is one of the most frustrating things about Windows Mobile. I had the same problem with my 8125, and it just started on my 2 mo. old Tilt. Even though you have a Hermes, this solution may work because it is a WINDOWS MOBILE problem.
I've done major amounts of research on this subject and many people will tell you you need Memmaid (have it), or SKTools to fix this. Neither worked for me on either phone (except Memmaid is great, you should get it). There are also many other tweaker tricks as well, none of which worked for me. Some even suggest a HARD RESET. Don't do it, it isn't needed.
Here's what worked for me.
On the 8125: pull the battery out while powered on. Put the battery back in, and reset the clock. (the battery trick didn't work on the TILT)
On the Tilt: change the clock to visiting time, and accept changes. Change the clock back to home time and accept changes.
After looking at these solutions I think the clock fix would have done the same thing on my 8125.
I can't take credit for either discovery, however, I can't remember where I read them.
I hope this works for you and the others that experience this most frustrating issue.

Calendar reminders not working on HTC Tytn II (Tilt) + WM6.1
Hi,
I had recently updated my HTC Tytn II (Kaiser/Tilt) from Windows Mobile 6 to Windows Mobile 6.1.
It took me a little while to notice that my calendar reminders were not working. My "Task" reminders were working fine.
I did the suggested fix - which was to change the timezone to "Visiting" and back to "Home" - and now I have my calendar reminders working again. Thanks for the suggestion hksuper!
Prembo.

It works on Polaris too. Thanks you guys so much

Thanks
Thanks hksuper .... I just chaged the clock from home to visiting and then back to home and it worked ,,,, Thanks for sharing this info.

Hi,
I'm glad others are finding this tidbit of info useful.
What bothers me is that the solution is only temporary. It seems like it only lasts for a day and then you have to do the time change trick, which you forget to do. I would set a reminder to remind me to change the time zone, but it wouldn't go off to remind me.
I guess my solution is only a half a solution until someone figures out how to make reminders work permanently on Windows Mobile.
IN other news....I have an iPod Touch, sync'd to my Exchange Server, and it NEVER FAILS TO DING WHEN I HAVE A REMINDER SET. Unfortunately, the reminders don't have as many nice options (like snooze, which I find invaluable). So Apple at least gets points for making it work right. Got that MS?
Cheers!

As an interim solution for you hksuper, why don't you set the reminders on your iPod Touch to tell you when you need to reset the clock....
Seriously though I hope we can come up with a solution to an annoying problem... Come on MS, apples ahead of the game, time for you to get there too....

That is a really good thing to know.
Today I experienced the same problem on my Touch Pro 2, with Windows Mobile 6.5. After doing the clock trick, it is working again.
Hope I don't have to do this daily or else I just throw out this f*cking expensive device

I had this issue in Win 5 when I got my m3100.
I have never had the problem in 6.0 pro though and I use the calendar everyday.
Weird

Solution for calendar reminder problem.
Google "The poorhouse pmClean cab." Download the pmClean cab, perform a clean, and do a soft reset. I'm currently on the NRG Phoenix 2 6.5 ROM on my HTC Fuze and it worked remarkably well.

my device is HTC Touch HD.

Works on XPERIA X1. Thanks.

The fix also works on my HTC HD2 T9193.
I had this problem a long time ago on win mo 5.0. I'm surprised to see the same problem is still with us.

Alarm Clock

How do I get this to work - when xda2 is off , and when xda2 is on?
I also have some problems.
Sometimes the alarm works, sometimes not.
What can I do?
Thanks,
Urosh
I had same problem
I say had, as it was caused by an mp3 player I had installed on it, once de-installed, and soft reset, it all worked pefect.
So my advise is, check for some programms installed that could interfere with the alarm settings
(As I am a complete newbie to this I hope that I didn't misunderstand this topic)
As far as I found out there is a bug in Pocket PC 2003 that sometimes switches off the alarm. Find more information and a link for a bugfix here:
http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=876
Hope that will be useful...
The mentioned bugfix...
Okay, I never experienced problems with the alarm clock. Nevertheless I installed the bugfix because I hate not beeing woken up in the morning.
Although the bugfix is installed, the alam clock did not work this morning. So I advise you to use a second alarm clock to avoid surprises in the morning...
I am still having a problem, does any one else have any ideas?
Since I've installed the 1.60 ROM together with the bugfix, the alarm clock seems to work fine. But I still don't trust it and use a second, old school alarm clock...
Alarm clock 2 solutions
I was also having problems with my alarms, read somewhere that unwanted entries in start up could affect this & slow your machine down too, Hope that helps....
Download this freeware (both of them), install them and run them.
http://www.scarybearsoftware.com/ppc_cn_overview.html
I installed this freeware which seems to have (a) cleared a lot of unwanted dross (sometimes 400+!!!!) & (b) sorted out my alarm problem
Someone recommended this excellent and useful 'pocket Alarm' utility when I was still using my XDA I, Burr Oak have now upgraded it and it better than ever!
Try it free here :- http://www.burroak.on.ca/pta2.html (costs $12-ish if you like it enough to register it) 8)

maybe this would help aswell
Thanks for all the help guys, I'm not quite sure what fixed it but my XDA II is not working with the Alarm... A friend had the same problem and could not get his to work. We found out that if we used the power button to turn the device off it would not work...
As soon as I did a software power off the alarms started to work after that (May need to do it twice!).. give that a go it worked for us...
After getting it working I can now use the power off button and all working 100%...
I'm one of you guys: alarm does not work. Unfortunately I don't have much to offer.
I just wanna share a few things that I noticed:
1) I hard reset my qtek and tried the alarm, before any additional software installation.. Guess what! Nothing happened. The alarm did not work. I also used other 3rd party alarm software. It was all the same: the force-wake up doesn't work.
It is obvious to me that it's an operating system bug that makes us go to work late every morning.
What confuses me most, is the fact that I had no problem for the first 4 months of usage. This fact indicates that some piece of software is responsible for this mess. But then again, why a hard reset does not resolve it?
Like I said, I cannot do anything to help but to share these thoughts with you.
http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=876
It's OK now?
Did Wakeup Tweak solved the problem for all of you?
Or there is more to it?
Thanks,
Chris
I haven't try it yet cchris. I'll let you now.
By the way, I was in Cusago last week. Nice place!
SPB Pocket plus 2.x
If any of you are using SPB's pocket plus 2.1, it would be worthwile to uncheck the alarm feature and use the alarm provided by the OS itself.
I started to have the alarm working again.
It seems that Wakeup Tweak did the job. Alarm works perfectly ok now. I haven't got any problem for the last few days.

Today Plugins like claunch and O2 Plus Shortcuts disappear?!?

Hi there,
I have a G4 Wizard, T-mobile AKU 3.3 Rom (German version), SIM and CID-Unlocked, O2 Genion Card, several extension.
What I realized, from time to that the today plugins disappear on my fresh hard-reseted wizard.
1st: a hard reset,
2nd: installed claunch or O2 Plus and activated the shortcut plugin,
....
worked with it, some time, then it is going to standby or I switched back to home screen
.....
3rd: after turning it on (or getting back to home screen) it sometimes loosing the shortcut bar. I never recognized it with other plugins.
Going to Settings/Today/Elements the plugin is still activated. Deselecting and selecting it again and pressing "ok" in the upper right corner activates it again?! This is confusing me.
I can't recreate the bug by any action. It happens randomly. But mostly after returning from stand-by.
It happens to fresh hard reseted states as well as when I installed some apps like Homezone, pocket breeze etc.
Is there any known problem like this?
Many thanks in advance.
That, unfortunately, happens a lot, especailly with cLaunch and I don't have the O2 plus plugin so I couldn't tell you if that one does it too. Here's a little app that you put in your windows startup folder that will get it to do it a lot less often hopefully. Ever since I installed it on my phone cLaunch only dissapears about once ever 10 times that I reboot my phone instead of almost every time.
Impressive, that seems to help me.
Thanks bro.
No problem, I know how much of a pain that is.
I have the same problem

SPB Mobile Shell 3

Hi folks,
I am new here, but I have read through most of the forums and cannot replicate my problem, so here goes.
I installed SPB Mobile 3 over the air last night, and it worked like it was supposed to. I didn't like 2 because when you hit the power off button it went back to the today screen.
SPB M3 worked like a charm last night, when I hit the power button, it was there waiting. When I turned it off, it turned the screen off (without going to home) When I hit the icon I placed on the nice new display screen, it went to the today screen, and I could start dialing an unknown number.
After crashing SPB twice trying to set default ring volumes, I figured I did enough damage, and hard reset my phone.
The mobile shell will not come on now unless I hit start (pain) and after I hit power off, I must power off the today screen also (or wait the 1 minute timeout) Does anyone have any idea what I screwed up or did not configure right? I understand this is more of an SPB mobile 3 problem (more than likely) but I figure there are pros here.
I have hard reset since, removing spb
I have tried using spbwatcher, which almost eliminates making a phone call not from contacts
I have tried replicating what I did last night (installing SPB over air, and through desktop)
I am just a little frustrated because the new SPB looks great, easy to use and very productive.
Any thoughts?
Just to add something to your info. SPB Mobile Shell does not work with RealVGA.
To bad though.. ..It looks like a cool program but it's not useful for Palm users at the moment.
I'm running it on my treo pro & it works fine
SPB MS3
Running great on my Treo Pro... wouldn't like the phone too much without it!

Sadly there is in fact a very bad bug with the Treo Pro ringer and Treo Pro. SPB has this listed as a critical bug on the Treo Pro.
Yeah, the treo has a lot of system hacks with its side buttons -- and MS3 didn't expect this, it seems.. so there are some very significant issues with the Treo Pro/MS3.
but I'd ever read there is some methord to fix the problem to make SPB MS3 work on PRO with 96dpi.
I must be missing something b/c so far MS3 works pretty well on my treo pro. Maybe I don't know enough to see a bug if it hit me in the face - what should I be looking for?
These Issues are solved:
1st Treo Issue:
Ringer volume would drop to 0% if you touched the volume buttons on the side of the phone.
2nd
On the Lifestyle layout, if you used individual widgets for mail, mms etc it would not display voice mail messages but it did on the professional layout.
3rd
Again on the lifestyle layout the mail widget that was combined with the sms and missed call would not link to the primary email account.
If you follow this link you can download the beta versions (which still require your MS3 serial number). I currently have 3.0.1 Beta 3 (build 6488) which fixed the issues listed above that I was able to find wrong.
Currently they released a newer beta version that I will be testing out shortly 3.0.1 Release Candidate 1 (build 6501). Hope this helps

Thanks so much scotty for taking the time out to answer my question. If I download the new beta and install... do I need to uninstall the old one? Will I lose all settings and favorite contacts set up, etc?
Thanks,
Sorry about your problem I got sprint touch vogue, where did you get SPB 3, I'd can we get the reg codes?
Thanks and good luck

No need to uninstall the old version and you won't lose a thing. Just run the new install and it will tell you that it needs to remove the old one first but let it do the uninstall for you. It will automatically go in to the new install and all of your settings will stay the same.

If you don't have the money to buy it that's understandable. You can always check out a torrent site or send me a PM, I may be able to be of assistance
If you want a cheap alternative check out Panoramic Launch Pad:

It doesn't do quite as much as Mobile Shell but it uses way less memory, costs a lot less and works perfectly on my Pro

Scott is correct on the solved issue. sadly there are still critical bugs, and you can see on the SPB forums all the treo pro users are ticked off at lack of fix.

try and call up your task manager! Task manager is killed in MS3, this is not fixed. It is a Treo Pro specific bug.
Also there are message count/notifications problems on MS3 with many devices and the Treo pro is no exception as well as very difficulty to nail down battery consumption

I found this buried somewhere in either the Microsoft Active Sync help, one of the MS forums, and maybe here, too. But it was pretty obscure.
Caveat: I have NO CLUE as to WHY this should work, but it did.
Go to SETTINGS -> SYSTEM -> USB to PC.
Whatever the setting is, change it. It worked for me, despite the fact that it was the setting that I had to change to get Active Sync to work in the first place. I have no clue as to why the setting that would not let Active Sync work before now made it work now.
Just to really mess me up, as I check it now after having flashed S.V.I.'s Angel v.4, the USB to PC setting is changed back, but Active Sync has been working perfectly ... well, as perfectly as it ever did.
Sure hope this helps.
no. if i change it, it doesn't read it at all
thanks for trying though. i had some hope lol
Hmm. Try using DotFred's task manager to clear your duplicate notifications. I'm pretty sure it's already part of your ROM. Also clear your temp files out with ClearTemp. Cooks tend to forget this one, but it's a damn useful little program.
Chances are the first step will cure your problem. Shut the phone off completely in between steps, too.

TP2 alarm problem

Hi Guys,
I have a problem with the alarm on my TP2.
Once I set an alarm on it, and next day change the time or turrn the alarm off, the original alarm still continues to sound.
For eg:
Day 0 - I set alarm for 7 am for Day 1 - it will ring at 7 am
Day 1 - at night I change the alarm to say 715 am - it will ring both at 7 am and 715 am on Day 2
Day 2 - say I disable all alarms - on Day 3 it will still ring both on 7 am and 715 am (and hence spoil my weekend)
has anyone else also encountered this???
Pls help.
I am using unbranded TP2 (Singapore)
ROM 1.19.707.2 (51489) WWE (Even after upgrading the ROM to new SEA the problem persists)
Please help.
Exactly what I was going to create a thread about today!
This is doing my head in. I have to be up all week at 4:15am, so I set my alarm for 7 days. At the weekend, I'm off work, so I turn them off. Low and behold, at 4:15am on Saturday morning I'm awoken by the same alarms.
I used to know of a program or method where you could see a queue of notifications, and you could delete them if you had invalid entries, but I've forgotten it now. I think the TP2 may be making invalid repeat entries to this queue that are not affected by turning alarms on/off in the normal way.
1:55am
Hi all
I am using Klaxon which does not seem to have this problem as it always uses the same WM alarm. However, I don't know whether or not it's related but my phone frequently crashes at 1:55am, hence no alarm. Has anybody else experienced this problem?
Cheers

Alarm problems
I haven an unbranded TP2 and have the same problems for couple of weeks now... I've tried everything. Forst I've written to HTC but they didn't came up with an answer other than trying to keep the phone as clean as possible. They told me it's not a known issue... as while reading through different forums I didn't feel to bee alone !
Reading through the net told me that if you use 3rd party software the problem would be solved, so I bought G-alarm wich seemed to be the best available porgram. It went well for 2-3 weeks when there again my phone missed an alarm in the morning. The alarms do sound the moment I turn the phone on.
I read through the net again to find that the problem would could be due to a notification que wich is too long... I bought another piece of software, SkTools that can clean the notification que and be set to do so daily on automated basis. It went well for 1 week again... Yesterday and today the phone skipped again the wakeup alarms...
Writing to HTC many times didn't help so this afternoon I will try to flash my phone and try the ROM update wich is available on the HTC site. I'm sure the problem will be cured for a couple of weeks... but after? I'll let you guys know...

Sorry, no solution, but why not file a bug report with HTC or Microsoft?
If we all just keep going around the issues, software makers will never find out about the problems or fixe them.
Just an idea
I did already twice. only answer they gave was to hard reset the device an install no other software... that's why I by one of the world's most advanced phones? I don't think so. They keep telling me it is not a known issue... ?
As dommers and vasra tried the ROM update and it didn't work I'm doubting to go through the pain?
Does any of you have very regular (10 times a day) an error on the opera9.exe file?
Can you guys tell me wich 3rd party software is installed to see if it maybe is something wich is screwed up by 3rd party installation?
Does anybody know if the problem is known in a custom 6.5 rom as I would try one of those? In that case wich is the best and most stable available?
Thx
I think it has to be an HTC / TFO issue...my Kaiser has no issues and is same software/notification queues..i have found HTC to be very arrogant on the phone..but i will log a few calls with them ..maybe you guys could too...and they may start to look at it..
i spoke to HTC - they were ,quite frankly, useless. I informed them of the problem and after going through a load of useless checks that the alarm was on they said they would put feedback down but he wasn't sure it would get to the developers. Complete waste of time. Makes me think of buying an iphone. At least that works. grr...

use windows alarm not touchflo 3d
hi guys, the problem is that you use touchflo 3d's alarm setting, right?
let me tell you, touchflo 3d alarm doesnt work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so just save your time, dont use it, it's useless,i dont know what is problem with rom designers.
The real working alarm is windows own one,go to settings---sounds and notifications---notifications---events----(pull down)reminder.
At last,if you want to use your own mp3 music as alarm sound, pls create \Storage card\My documents, copy all your mp3 into My documents folder.

My alarm (set under TF3D) works great.
You are lucky you don't have an iphone, that damn thing used to make me late all the time.
I had this problem with my kaiser.
After a week that I go crazy, I founded that the problem caused by an early version or iGo8.
Are you using iGo8?
If yes, update it.
Custom ROMs
The problem also occurs in all custom ROMs...I have tried them all...NRG, RoMeOS, Miri etc.
I'm pretty sure this is a Windows issue. I used to see it on my Titan, particularly when I would change time zones.
What I would do on the Titan was to use Memaid to remove the classic time based notifications (which are your alarm settings), and then regenerate them. Worked like a charm!
if you use sk tools to clear notifications que automatically at 00:30, that should solve the problem

Same here. Got my TP2 yesterday and instantly flashed EnergyROM, and it woke me up just as I expected it this morning.
But reading this thread now kinda makes me worry I'll be late for work tomorrow... Or being kicked out of the bed on saturday...

My xv6800 did that alarm thing. Clearing the duplicates from the notifications que fixed it. good luck,
