Poor YouTube audio quality with HTC Streaming Media player - Touch Dual, MDA Touch Plus General

Has any one else experienced extremely poor audio quality with the HTC Streaming Media program on the Touch Dual? (Viewing vides from m.youtube.com)?
Using the HTC Streaming Media player on my Treo 750 the quality was decent but on the Touch Dual it is so poor that it is essentially not usable and I'm hoping that somebody knows 1) why and 2) how to fix it.
I've searched the forums and found plenty of information referencing watching YouTube on the phone but nothing that hits on my problem.
Thanks,
Bob

hi
try the diamond streaming player it has also bad quality but it feels like its better u can find it in the hack and dev section in the diamond apps thread
editr use the youtube player, it s slower at streaming but it has same video/audio quality as on pc! you can also find on this forum

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. I did try one of the YouTube players but for whatever reason it could never find any Videos (I didn't put alot of effort into figuring out why.)
Still would like to know why the audio quality with the default streaming player is so poor . . .

hi,
im currently using coreplayer 1.2.4 for youtube. the simply BEST player!!! i could send you cab if you want, you can set streaming options for high, medium and low quality. high works nice and smooth here! htc streaming player is worse quality because its streaming over RTSP. but coreplayer can also stream over h264, which has waayyyyy better quality

Quality of BBC iPlayer

I think that everyone in this forum will agree that the quality of bbc iplayer on the HTC Touch HD is somewhat crap. absolutely rubbish quality. with a massive screen you get rubbish quality. that's not right man. So come on xda-developers do something about it and some how make the quality better or tell us how to make it better.
Help us xda-developers
Much appreciated
The HD is only displaying the feed that's provided by the BBC. If you want to rant then rant at the BBC and demand that they increase the quality. Nobody here will be able to do anything.
Edit: ...except perhaps fake something in the connection details so that the iPlayer displays a feed appropriate to a different machine. But that's a fudge, not a solution.
It's tricky too - but it must be possible (I assume that the HD should be fast enough to decode the iPhone feed). The BBC appear keep adding and removing things to break current downloaders.
See here for some details, if anyone is interested in writing an application to access the iPhone feed.
Hmm, just for reference, I downloaded an iPhone stream and Coreplayer benchmarked under 90% for it
Still, it looked much nicer than the video that we currently get.
Video: H.264, 480x472, 25fps
Audio: AAC, 48KHz, 2 channel
@arghness
you should try to view the stream via HTC Album/Win Media Player
I learned today that CorePlayer can't use the Touch HD's hardware-acceleration so far!
HTC Album can play the local file (if I rename it from .mov to .mp4) but I can't get it to play an HTTP stream though - when I pass an HTTP URL on the command line, it just shows the album. It looks like it doesn't support that.
WMPlayer makes the HTTP connection but it doesn't appear to support the format ("The file is either corrupted or the Player does not support the format you are trying to play").
Do we know if the HTC streaming app can accelerate?

Poor CorePlayer (MyPlayer streaming) Performance

I have a T-Mobile TP2 and have installed MyPlayer (pocket TV streaming program). I am able to use the MyPlayer aspect of the program in which it provides all of the feeds/streams to the TV broadcasts, but when MyPlayer redirects me to CorePlayer for the stream it is always choppy.
I have CorePlayer version 1.3.5 and had attempted to fix this by reducing/ increasing the video/audio buffer, using DirectDraw instead of QTV mode, and many other options. Has anyone had luck in having CorePlayer use the streams from MyPlayer? It has hundreds of channels but are pretty much useless when it is this choppy. I notice also when I disable sound completely the stuttering goes away, but that is pretty useless as well
Have you tried using the onboard streaming media player instead?
Good idea, I thought that Coreplayer was required for this, and it is for some of the channels, but not for the majority of them. I used Windows media player instead an it no longer stutters, but picture quality wise it does not quite look as good.
Another question here, does anyone know where the HTC brander player is located in the file directory? The same one used for the HTC Album. I hear that it works really well, but I cant find it. Thanks again!

Windows Media player Vs Coreplayer

Hey everyone.
Wanted to find out if Coreplayer is worth buying for the HD2? Currently just installed myplayer app and forced to switch the player to WM player but wondering if the quality of streaming or video playback is better in coreplayer?
I'm not too fussed right now about codecs and functionality although no doubt I will be in a few weeks when i dont have a codec for a video but I'm wondering if there are any improvements in purely video quality only in coreplayer compared to WM player?
Thanks

hey dude...i have both installed and i have few dvd that i have ripped onto my phone by using spb mobile dvd. I have viewed videos through both players...and they both works fine and could not tell any difference, however what i have noticed is the buttons on coreplayer are more responsive, for instance you could fast forward a track or video easily rather than the WM player
i hope that helps
The main advantage i have found with coreplayer is watching internet TV streams. These seem to sun much smoother.
for the best performance/video quality its best to recode video to MP4 and use the htc album player to watch the movie/documentary about maggie thatcher (or whatever source you have)
The main disadvantage of the CorePlayer is a lack of AC3 sound codec compatibility.
When you open a movie with sound in AC3 - it just won't play.

And WMP plays AC3 fine?
To me Coreplayer seems to be way faster, plus it plays most videos without converting.. wmp does not play any of my avis..

Why some video playback on a500 with low volume?

I'm very happy to have an Iconia Tab A500, it's really powerful and the price is much cheaper, i often use the a500 to play movies, most of them can be played well. but some video is clear while the volume is very low, I tried to adjust the volume control, but the effect isn't very good, any suggestions?
Hi Elisabeth, do you have an example of a video with low volume? Maybe the audio stream insidesimply isn't any louder. I would like to investigate one.

What type of video files are having the issue? Streaming videos? Converted .mp4's? Usually this issue is due to the video source not your tablet.
I am having the same issue...I can play movies in the following formats:
divx/xvid
.avi
.mpg
.mp4
If the movies are on the internal memory or on the microSD card the movies play fine (except bluray sourced xvids). If I play some movies from a network share (not streaming them, but playing them over the network) then I get low volume and sound sync issues.
I find that movies that were converted from a bluray source have the volume and sound syncing issues....I am sure it has to do with the tablet (how it reads from ntfs and codec for xvid). All movies that have issues on the A500 run smooth as silk on a regular computer. I am hoping the new update will fix these issues.
which player do you have? are you sure the sound of your player have been adjusted to be the best state?
I have also seen this happen on mine playing various avi files with moboplayer and rockplayer. I feel like it has happened after I've played music with the android player but can't always duplicate it.
Sent from my A500 using XDA Premium App
I use the built-in player of a500, playback is pretty good, and I've adjust the volume, other videos can be played well, no volume problems. i'm quite agree with a2drew, this issue is due to the video source, but how to solve it?
by the way, these fault videos were downloaded from website.
Ah, some video conversion tools can solve this problem, with their built-in editing tool, u can adjust volume easily. But I did not find a free one, any guy know one can share with us.

I suggest you can try Foxreal video coverter, which i always use. Its trail version is free, and i buy it because it convert my mkv to my Xoom successfully. It has powerful editing functions, including adjust audio volume, and the sound quality of converted video is great. It is pity that i did't know as long as to be its fans on facebook, we can get 20% discount.

[Q] video playback quality

Hey guys i wanna ask someone who have a xperia x2 how is video playback quality cause i have put many videos with many file type MP4 WMV and the playback was rubbish the picture isn't clear.
even though the phone is said to support HD video playback but when i play a 360p video it isn't clear.
another thing about the youtube app videos are the same not clear just like am watching a very bad video.
some one can help???
What are you using to play them back ... the built-in player?
I was not happy with it -- skipped alot and soethimes just stopped and needed to reboot ... I now use Corel player -- and that seems to work well ...
i used Media player and the slideview player. the videos did not work on core player only audio played.
as for youtube app is there anything i can do the resolution is very bad can you help?
and thank you any way.
Did you look at the settings for CorePlayer that are listed in XDA? when I first loaded it, it also did not play the video ... They are under tools, settings, then select the video page --- I have mine set to GDI video output, High video quality, Only for 50% smooth zoom, and the Dither box checked.
I think those are the only changed that I made from the default settings, but is was awhile ago, so I am not 100% sure ...
I don't use youtube, so I can't help there ... but there is a new app listed with Omarket that is supposed to provide smooth video -- but I have not tried it ...
