I have a T-Mobile TP2 and have installed MyPlayer (pocket TV streaming program). I am able to use the MyPlayer aspect of the program in which it provides all of the feeds/streams to the TV broadcasts, but when MyPlayer redirects me to CorePlayer for the stream it is always choppy.
I have CorePlayer version 1.3.5 and had attempted to fix this by reducing/ increasing the video/audio buffer, using DirectDraw instead of QTV mode, and many other options. Has anyone had luck in having CorePlayer use the streams from MyPlayer? It has hundreds of channels but are pretty much useless when it is this choppy. I notice also when I disable sound completely the stuttering goes away, but that is pretty useless as well
Have you tried using the onboard streaming media player instead?
Good idea, I thought that Coreplayer was required for this, and it is for some of the channels, but not for the majority of them. I used Windows media player instead an it no longer stutters, but picture quality wise it does not quite look as good.
Another question here, does anyone know where the HTC brander player is located in the file directory? The same one used for the HTC Album. I hear that it works really well, but I cant find it. Thanks again!

Hi, I have a Media Center PC which records my TV shows, and Windows Media Player 10 automatically converts and copies them to the Pocket PC, running WMP10 also. Lovely.
Only thing is, I have this lovely big VGA screen on the HTC Universal, and the videos take up about one-quarter of it :-S
I have changed the 'Quality' settings in WMP10 but they make no difference to the dimensions of the image.
Any ideas welcomed! Surely MS aren't silly enough to limit the picture size to the older PPC screens only?
Download TCPMP, a freeware player and go full screen. Much better IMO than media player for movies, and will also play divx/xvid encoded movies

I second (or third!) that. TCPMP is the dog's danglies when it comes to PPC videos.
I've just about given up on video playback on the Exec :evil:
I've tried all sorts and nothing gives anywhere near smooth playback in full screen.
I read somewhere on here it was to do with the way video is handled...something about it being done by the CPU and not in dedicated video hardware.
If that is the case, it's serious flaw for the Exec and mine will be going back
I've never had any problems playing videos using TCPMP on my jasjar, once it was set to Intel XScale video and I tweaked some buffer settings, i'm only dropping 3 frames from 7000.

But I want to use Windows Media Player! It comes as standard, I don't want to install extra software that takes up space, and I like the fact that it uses the same playlists and ratings as my desktop PC, and many other reasons.
Anyone work out how to get 320x240 videos to fill the screen instead of play in a little box in the middle of full-screen?
The issue of 320 x 240 videos not being stretched is listed as a known problem on the clubimate website, so I guess for now it's not fixable?
The fact that is is listed means that they're working on it for future ROM upgrades though, so it looks like you'll have to wait for a bit.
In the meantime, TCPMP will have to do.
(I'd prefer to use WMP too, but until I find a way to add an Xvid codec and an .ogg codec to WMP10, I'm going to stick with TCPMP, rather than re-encode my entire video & music catalogue)
I downloaded a movie (avi for PPC) for testing purpose and was unable to see the video in Windows Media Player. I hear sound but no video. Would this player work?
Has any one else experienced extremely poor audio quality with the HTC Streaming Media program on the Touch Dual? (Viewing vides from m.youtube.com)?
Using the HTC Streaming Media player on my Treo 750 the quality was decent but on the Touch Dual it is so poor that it is essentially not usable and I'm hoping that somebody knows 1) why and 2) how to fix it.
I've searched the forums and found plenty of information referencing watching YouTube on the phone but nothing that hits on my problem.

try the diamond streaming player it has also bad quality but it feels like its better u can find it in the hack and dev section in the diamond apps thread
editr use the youtube player, it s slower at streaming but it has same video/audio quality as on pc! you can also find on this forum
Thanks, I'll give it a shot. I did try one of the YouTube players but for whatever reason it could never find any Videos (I didn't put alot of effort into figuring out why.)
Still would like to know why the audio quality with the default streaming player is so poor . . .

im currently using coreplayer 1.2.4 for youtube. the simply BEST player!!! i could send you cab if you want, you can set streaming options for high, medium and low quality. high works nice and smooth here! htc streaming player is worse quality because its streaming over RTSP. but coreplayer can also stream over h264, which has waayyyyy better quality
Hi I've just received my HD and overall I'm very impressed. I was a smartphone user previously so I’m having to come to terms with TouchFlo and Windows Mobile all at the same time!
The only real problem I’m having is playing .avi video. I've transferred an .avi file to my memory card but it won't play in CorePlayer (need the AC3 codec I think) and TCPMP doesn't load (get a crash screen) and mobile divx plays the video but it’s a mess on the screen.
I've even tried to encode the video file with PocketDivXEncoder but I think this needs TCPMP to play and it looks terrible in Mobile Divx.
So my question is how do I successfully play an .avi as this is one of the main reasons I bought my HD.
Also one further question with appointments in the calendar when I get a reminder the notification pop up doesn't appear till I click on the alarm icon at the top of the screen - is this due to touchflo and can you force WM6.1 to always show the notification - I’m finding I’m forgetting about meetings because of this!

I've tried playing avi (divx) files with great success. I have been using CorePlayer (v1.2.5). Maybe you should try another video file? it should work

I now see your problem, I had originally tried only avi movies with mp3 audio (like most of my videos). I tested it with a file with AC3 audio and it appears that CorePlayer doesnt have that codec.
Guess your only option with movies with AC3 audio is to convert them, or you might be able to get an AC3 codec somewhere.
So is there a way of converting my video into avi + mp3 rather than AC3 as it sounds like that would sort my problem?

You could try the freeware video converter program 'SUPER'.
SUPER allows you to convert easily many aspects of a video including size, frame rate, format of video and audio, etc.
I use it all the time to convert my camera videos for use with my Hard Drive TV Media Player.
Don't try and download it from the developers web site it's a minefield in how to get the program.
Instead get it direct from Download.com here:-

yes please, can handle a typical rip of 350mb tv show or 700mb movie without problems?

It certainly can. I watched a whole divx movie i downloaded in full resolution (640 i think) without any conversion, and it was working great. havent tried a TV show yet but i guess it will work fine.

How did you manage that, mines plays the videos but they are jerky, seems like it's caching the film. I've even tried same file on iphone & hd, iphone was much smoother. what am i doing wrong??

I've got to agree here with edwardscdr. I have no problem whatsoever in playing .avi files using Core Player 1.2.5
I believe the problem that others are having is down to what software and system associated files individuals have installed on their Phone. These could be effecting the performance of the playback.
It's a bit extreme but one sure way of finding out the problem is to hard reset the device and install ONLY Core Player (I personally did this when I first received my Touch HD).
Next transfer a video/movie file and play it........ Do you notice any improvements?
If so then at least you know it's down to what was previously installed.
To then eliminate the culprit that was causing the problem is to install software titles one-by-one and on each occasion check the playback of the video.
When it changes and no longer runs smoothly then BANG.... you have your culprit.

its the ac3, core player can't play it
i wish i can convert the audio via super...
sound can be changed, the audio codecs will show different results when using a different container, im just used to the .mp4 container so i didnt see an audio codec change to mp3
AC3 will play on the old TCPMP beta, the screen is buggy (missing buttons etc) but it does work. If you set up file extensions (in the options settings in both apps) to play on different media players you won't have any trouble (eg: AC3 plays on TCPMP, divx/xvid plays very well on Coreplayer).
The only videos i have trouble playing are in the H264 codec, but that's not a surprise as it is an advanced codec that can make some older desktops slow down.
As far as I am aware, the only media player that takes advantage of hardware acceleration is the built in media player with the HD. For optimum video playback you'd probably want to convert your video files with a third party app into mp4, BUT as an experienced heavy user of video files I find that a combo of Coreplayer, TCPMP and the built in player works just fine for nearly all occasions.

Only way how to play movies in reasonable quality is to convert them and use WMP or media panel, since they use hardware support.

CorePlayer is good for everything in my opinion. You get Youtube with it too. It's not free though.

Hard to judge. Both work. In mp3 playback I think Coreplayer is same as TCPMP.
Coreplayer sometimes creates clicks in the playback, even with 'higher priority' option on. And it sometimes draws album art distorted, but only with QTv display driver. But then you will usually have this driver selected, unless you only play MP3 and no video.
On the other hand, Core player (and TCPMP too) has equalizer, and has better playlist management, can play in background.

What program is used to play the Transformer movies? It does not have much options like CorePlayer but it did a good job of playing the Transformer movies.
Also, if I want to use it to play other movies that I encode using this same player, where do I put these new movies. Do I put it in the folder called "Transformers" in the SD card? But then how do the Transformer movies have their own icon? Still trying to figure this out.

The launcher app is not customizable, though it should be pretty trivial to build something similar.

hmmmmm.... i dont know but transformers plays very smoothe on my hd2 and also i recommend latest TCPMP with custom setup.i also convert dvds to mp4 in my pc then sync it to my hd2 and it plays on windows mobile player and and TCPMP,but doesnt play well on my coreplayer though.

They generally work fine if I soft-reset and make sure Wifi, etc. are off and nothing else is running, but otherwise in normal operation, where I might have email open and 3G + Wifi enabled in the background, I often get less than perfect playback. Usually still watchable, but hardly impressive (and definitely not something I'd show to iPhone 3GS-toting friends, who instantly notice the frame drops and such).

The HTC Streaming Media Player is not a skinned WMP. Its specifically developed by HTC to take advantage of the hardware acceleration for MP4 files with the Snapdragon processor. The video performance is far superior to Coreplayer or WMP.
You can convert your video files to take advantage of this hardware acceleration by using Touch HD Encoder (search

It's pretty clear (to me, at least) that the native Video Player is the best player between the 3.
Video Player plays very limited file types, which is a minus. re-encoding video files to MP4 takes long time, and file size goes up, if you want to keep the same 'high-quality' video.
CorePlayer does a great job playing various file types, so it's easier to view movies, that's for sure.
being a video editor by trade, i have no problem re-encoding video prior to transferring media to my phone as i have the hardware and software to do so painlessly. starting from a high quality/high resolution video file and encoding down to an mp4 correctly yields in smaller filesize while retaining amazing quality. i've recently encoded a full 1080p 25min video (which started at 4gb) down to an HTC Video Player friendly video that was a hair over 300mb...with nearly no difference in quality. it plays perfectly in the native player...no problems whatsoever. i've considered doing a write up for the boards and may do so if i have time, but if you have any questions, fire away.

Just make a folder named 'Transformers' on your memory card, install the files to it and it will find it.
Transformers looks wonderful, but converting is such a chore with getting all the settings right and such. Of course, I would want the exact conversion process that was used on Transformers. Coreplayer is the best for me. No converting, just play and the quality is very high. Plus, best music player and streams Youtube videos. It's the only app I've paid nearly $30.00 for and would do it again. I must have it.

Yes I would love to see a write up, the prob Im having is I have been trying different programs & settings for burning my dvd's to my phone and none have looked as good as the Transformers movies. Any insight would be appreciated
