Hello everybody!
I'm for quite some time now working on my own turn-based PocketPC game called "PoRoBa". More accurately, it's a game-framework, but whatever. I'm a student and have just access to one PocketPC - my own old MDA III. So, I've not had yet the chance to test it on any other hardware yet. Therefore, here's my plea:
Please go to http://www.poroba.com/ , give the game a spin and tell me your impressions - even if it's just "didn't work". Any comments here or in my shoutbox are highly appreciated!
And since this is a technical forum, some details:
PoRoBa was written completely in C# and relies just on .Net 2.0 and GAPI. Everything from there was exclusively written by me (image-handling, compressions, text-rasterization, ...). And no, there is no sound or music
Thank you,
KoMaXX
Not quite my kind of games (thus I didn't really test a lot), but it works on HTC Artemis, WM6.1.
works so far alltough i didn't find the time to test all the funtions..
These are great news
I was afraid, it wouldn't even start or crash immediatly without any error-messages!
I just got a bug-report, that the game would crash, when some Hardware-Buttons were pressed, but unfortunately I can't reproduce the bug and the reporter didn't leave a number.
Has anyone else encountered this problem?

So, I appreciate this website alot, my htc wizard probably wouldn't be useable on a daily basis without the great software and suggestions that I have found here. However, there is one aspect of my wizard that I would love to see improved, and as I have no ability as a software developer I thought I'd throw out a challenge to all of you out there.
I would like to have a today plugin for TCPMP that has buttons for play/pause, next, and back. This would allow all of us who use this great player to control it from the comfort of our today screen.
I have searched high and low for this functionality for TCPMP, and have been unable to find it. If some enterprising soul out there wants to take on this challenge I am sure that I and many more out there would be supremely grateful.
Thanks!
No takers?
maybe ask the guy who made one for MortPlayer;
http://www.sto-helit.de/modules/edito/content.php?id=15
or use MortPlayer instead of TCPMP, maybe
Hi everyone,
This is my first post, so hello. I got my HTC Wizard (T-Mobile MDA branded) earlier this week and have been experimenting with it quite a bit since. One thing I really wanted working, since I'm a huge Sonic fan (and I legitimately own all of the cartridges, don't pirate!) was to get a working Genesis emulator going on the Wizard. I couldn't even get PocketGenesis to load, and MorphGear's genesis support is ludicrously slow on a Wizard, so I was about to give up hope until I found PicoDrive. This free emulator really needs more love, the core is written in ARM assembler and it BLOWS AWAY the alternatives. It only has two downsides: no sound, and no save state support, at least in the version available on the developer's site. I decided to fix these problems.
Now let me emphasize I did NOT write this program. The guy who did is awesome and you can visit his site at www.finalburn.com.
I downloaded the source and enabled the sound he had disabled for the release version. However, it sounds horrible, so I've left it disabled. I _DID_ add proper save states to the emulator, however. (It was a simple modification of the existing code for loading/saving movies) Since this was a feature I thought others would benefit from (and also just to encourage others to try PicoDrive) I thought I would post my modified version to this site. You'll find the Load State and Save State options on the Options menu during play.
An additional tip - by editing the PicoConfig file, which you'll find in your device's root directory, you can remap the key config for the emulator. If there's interest I'd be willing to add a GUI to help you do this in a week or two when I have time. (We're nearing the end of the college semester currently, so I'm pretty busy at the moment)
Let me know what you guys think, and enjoy! The attached file is an ARM exe, just copy it to your device and run.
Hi, where can i get the games to run with this emulator?
I used to love the sonic and mario games but i'm useless with finding the games.
Thanks for any help i get in advance,
Ash
I really can't tell anyone where to get ROMs; I don't want to do anything of questionable legality on this site.
Is there anyway of getting this to work in landscape so that you can use the keyboard??
oh wow i hadnt thought of that, id pay real money for a spectrum and bbc emu working in landscape and using the keyb
@maltloaf: i'll look into that in a few weeks and see what i can do!
as far as landscape orientation for picodrive, that's definitely something that can be done. i'll get back to you guys in about 3 weeks with a new version that'll have the most recent picodrive engine, as well as landscape/portrait orientation (i agree, i vastly prefer to use landscape mode) and keyboard config within the app.

Coooool sounds good.. cheers!!
Sorry to bring this back from the dead but I'm really interested in this Keep up the good work.
Picodrive
Hello. I'm new to both forums and the XDA2. I cannot express how cool this version of picodrive is!
I have to say it took me a while that you have to copy the exe file to the xda then run it.
After that I couldn't figure out how to control it until I accidentally mashed some buttons.
Since then!!!
I love this emu, I love the games and now that it has been fiddled with it's so much better.
Thankyou!
I found a new version of Picodrive 0.047 on this forum and it work's perfectly! Fast, sound, landscape, full screen, remap button ability, and save. About halfway down the page is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/vie...=0&postorder=asc&highlight=picodrive&start=25
Hi,
I purchased the latest version of AntonTomov's PocketMechanic via Handango and received the registration key immediately after finished purchase procedure.
Installation on my TyTN seemed to work out first (the program accepted the key with a message box and a sound).
But only moments later a message box popped up, telling me I use a pirated version and should turn to the manufacturer, which I did (also mailed Handango).
Meanwhile tried to install PM several times (always removing all traces from both PC and TyTn incl. Registry and rebooted) - to no avail.
Meanwhile received a new serial, but same story again: first accepted and immediately afterwards aborted with Piracy message.
A new complaint mail is on ist way.
Meanwhile I'm asking here if anybody had similar problems in getting the Pocket Mechanics to work on a TyTN.
Appreciating feedback and will let te community know how it worked out for me.
I would not use or buy Tomov's products out of principal.
Found a lot of threads about earlier version doing a hard reset without asking, when inputted a "pirated" serial. So be glad it only shows a box nowdays.
While software piracy is not a good thing, at least for people developing propietary software. Tomov has used a bit too drastic measures to fight
back.

This does not make me too comfortable :-(
I also read a few note about that on the net and a reply by Tomov, complaining that this is not true and only a campaign to cut him off his revenues.
Well, I do not know what to believe, however this uncertainty is also not too comfortable...
Well the Pocket Mechanic way of uses some hardware dependent functions and - if you dare to take use of such - you have to either be very careful and also prepared that they might not work on untested and after all very new (such as the TyTN) devices.
I was prepared for all of that but not that I receive a piracy mail (which somewhat alsmost accuses you of being a software pirate and telling you to mail to [email protected]) when I purchased the software (which I can also prove).
Maybe he uses some hardware related mechanism to check eligibility of the serial and as he hasn't tested yet the TyTN (which he admits) this software won't allow being registered at all. I do not know.
But isn't such a meachanism pure over-kill ?
Actually something like that must be going on as I receive this pop up also after a new install and having purged all remnants from the PC, the PDA and the registry.
If I'd be trying out serials just at random, would anyone think that I'll millions of times do that complete procedure just to find any working key at the end of my life maybe ???
(And if I'd be a professional hacker I'd disassemble the code and be able to work around even these barriers.)
So, applying over-kill measures like that only brings problems to decent users, risking to run into problems when using special configurations or ne devices.
+++
Apart from that I must say that Tomov's applications seem well coded and also graphically very nice (one wonders how graphically nice application you can program for PDAs; shame upon Microsoft for their pre-installed poor applications !!!).
Also I see no real alternatives for some functionality he provided within one software, that's why I purchased the PM.
Finally again my question:
Has anyone encountered the same problems with the PM on a HTC TyTN ?
(btw: Thanks "jeezus" for your feedback.)
Might I inquire which funktionality you need?
Maybe we can find an alternative solution.
Hey all
The PocketCM keyboard isnt working with wm2003! Can anybody tell me why? I love this app, but it do not work with my device... that sucks so bad... Please mr. developer sir:
MAKE A wm2003 VERSION! PLEASE!!!
I totally agree with you! i´ve got wm2003, too... I donno why he don´t want to make a wm2003 version...
hm.. I think think many people are sad, because of this (including me!) The developer should share the source code with someone who has a wm2003 device so he could make a special version, but somebody told me he don´t want to give it to anyone.
Open source would be cool !
I own a WM2003SE device, and would love to see this app ported! the built in keyboard just doesn't cut it...
we should start a poll to find out how many people are interested in a wm2003 version!
Great Idea!!!
I've been pleading for this within the existing thread, but I don't even get a response let alone a wm2003 version!!!
I'll sign....
RR
FYI,
I had a reply from the creator. He only has a WM5 SDK installed. That generates THUMB code, that will not run on WM2003 (needs to be ARM)
But he promissed to give it another thought when the project reached final state.
Cheers
sounds like good news!
Can´t wait!
Well, I'll answer
You have to put yourself a little bit at the place of the developer: simply ask you thee basic question: how, when and why.
How?
- developing for 2003 device require (at least): a 2003 device (which I don't have), that the application is actually compatible (WM5 changes lot of stuff, some API used in the keyboard aren't the same or simply do not exist for 2003 device), a 2003 development environment (which takes time to setup) and a huge amount of time to test.
When?
- is it more interesting to develop 2 applications, maintain to application and try to make them stable, or do it later, when one version is stable? Here you have to think long term, not the simple "I want it now", but more what's the most efficient way to get a stable version for 2003, WM5 and WM6?
Why?
That seems to be the aspect your ignore the most, and for me, the most important:
- It takes me lot of time to develop my applications
- I'd like to keep them free, but I also want to get something in return, that's why I use Google Ads on my website, and I encourage donation... but that's not enough. That's also why I don't authorize people to redistribute it, I need your visits and that's why no version of the keyboard exists without time limitation.
- And most importantly: call me greedy or whatever, but what would I get in return?
For WM6 dev: I get a better app for myself, some fun developping it, and hope to get some money back.
For 2003: I don't need it, I don't get a better application, it's not fun to test and port, the fun part is already done.
So I'm simply (and honestly, it's not a trap,I'm just trying to explain my view of the things, maybe you can, considering this, explain me your view of things) asking you the question: what would be the motivation for me? considering the "glory and proud" of making it WM2003 compatible isn't really a turn on for me. Have you thought about that?
That doesn't mean I'm opposed to it, if you can put in place some "motivator", we can of course discuss it.
Well I do understand what you're saying, however from where I sit (and thats having no programming knowledge or experience!!) I'd be more than happy to pay for this app if it was ever developed, and Im sure Im not alone. (c'mon guys, back me up here!!)
The fact is, from what I've seen of this app, this looks as if it is one of the best input methods available, and believe me, I've pretty much tried em all!!
So for you to be asking for a motivator, I put to you COLD-HARD-CASH!!!
I know you're currently accepting donations, but like I said, Im sure other wm2003 users would be quite happy to pay a small fee for having this app up and running on our devices.
yes I do take into account the time and effort (and a wm2003 device) that would be needed to get this out, but seriously, is this impossible.
Even if you couldn't devote the time to it, surely there are other developers out there that (with your help, or code at least) could take this up and continue development.
Just venting my ideas bro, you've made a seemingly great app, let the rest (and im sure its a considerable community) of the non wm5/6 world share this functionality!!!
Other than that, well done on your achievements, I'll be watching the development of this very closely!!
RR
Well, from your point of view, there is no real motivation for him to port his apps for wm2003 and i really understand why. your arguments are very good...
so it´s hard for me tell you why the developer should make a wm2003 compatible version, because when i was in his position i wouldn´t do it, too...
But i will try to explain my ideas
Why:
Richierich is right when he said that it is one of the best input methods available and many people would be happy if they could use it with a wm2003 device!
How:
Share the source code with a developer with a wm2003 device (well i don´t know who this could be, but this community is very big so we can find someone)
When:
when the app works stable he could give the source code to another developer.
I´m no developer, so i have no idea about the amount of work... i just try to explain what i think about it from my point of view.
Thank you for reading.
I'm a developer myself, and trust me, if it's no longer fun. I stop doing it (unless it's work related and my boss requires me to do it).
And I'm sure, not even money (or any form of bribery) can be give enough motivation.
How about sexy gorgeous women? If you can give that, I might even do it myself!
hahaha.. just kidding guys.
I have a better idea... Howabout instead of you writing PocketCM for 03/SE, someone out there ports WM5/6 to my device
That would actually solve many of my other problems too
dito
my message needs to be longer than 10 charakters so i have to write this ****...but i just want to say "dito"
hope there will be a project of this for my imate jam.
I can understand tene (the developer), he is not interested to develop PocketCM Keyboard for WM2003 because he does not have motivation.
Well, there is nothing you can do unless he is motivated, considering this is a free application.
Maybe, you can bargain with him, and "hire" him to build the application
Ask him, how much do you need?
And then, find some people here, collect money, and pay him
That would work ... if tene is willing to be "hired".
If not (not now?), then yeah ... there are still several options:
- Ditch your WM2003 device and upgrade to a newer WM 6.0 model
- Find other onscreen-keyboard alternative, like "TouchPal" from www.cootek.com which people say it is better than PocketCM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334437&highlight=touchpal
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=335988&highlight=touchpal
Which is still FREE until Dec !
I would love to have a touch keyboard for Wm2003. there are still plenty of Wm2003 users. H4150 was one of the slimmest pda. I would love to have a touch keyboard for it....
i wait for this http://www.iwindowsmobile.com/
it´s propably similiar to pokcketCM keyboard
guys and all,
are you all unhappy of not having pocketCM 2003? well, please consider me also..
That works on my IPAQ HX4700 Win2003SE
try this. that is not easy to install but that works fine.
sorry for my english, i am french.
- edit PocketCM.reg with notepad to edit our options (language)
- Copy files on pocket pc in folder Program files
- execute regsvr_arm.exe and look for folder of pcmkeyboard and choose pcmKeyboard.dll
- The most difficult : Import PocketCM.reg into Register with a software like SKTools
http://s-k-tools.com/index.html?m_downloads.html#tools
- If the skin is not ok, who can download others on the http://www.pocketcm.com/theme.php?application=2
Has anyone played the GREAT PSP puzzler Lumines? If not, I suggest you all play this flash clone here http://www.gamesforwork.com/games/play-7737-Ryokan-Flash_Game .
I was wondering if anyone was developing a mobile version of this game? This is an absolutely amazing game. The music and graphics are a sight to behold, and the gameplay is as addicting as ever. Some go as far as saying it's the new Tetris.
It would be awesome to get a port for this game. I have it on PSP and also on Xbox 360 (Live download). Great game!
I Hear you. I've been looking for Lumines for the longest time, even trying to play the flash variants on my phone (too slow). Actually, i was thinking a Meteos clone would be even better, but no one has even tried to tackle that, so I've pretty much given up on it, lol. Anyway, i think i found what you want, I haven't tested it yet but it is FREEWARE, which is always great
http://www.zielok.com/?action=onegame&game=samulos
Hope it works
[edit]
ok i tested it just now, initially i was superexcited because it seemed to be just like Lumines. however, the difference is that, you know that sweeping line that clears up the combos? it's gone. it's replaced by a timer, and all combos disappear when the timer reaches zero. kinda removes some of the fun, trying to toss in more blocks before the line clears it away, but other than that it's a great way to satiate my PSP envy.
cab file
i have made a cab.
Ahh close, but it's not quite Lumines.
Is anyone working on a clone? Or even a port, since apparently it's open source and out for PC?
Check out Loomies. I haven't tried it but looks like the original.
This is the version from w800i it's 240x320 and works with latest jbed
but it gets stuck at the "activate sound" page for lumines.zip. can anyone tell me how to get across that page.
like los1223 posted Loomies is a clone of Lumines. Sad part is its not free. Link to the Loomies site http://www.clickgamer.com/moreinfo.htm?pid=13963§ion=PPC
