Thats great. However is the ability to overwrite rom and system files fixed. This was the main reason I used 2007. I think I may have to revert back if this is not going to be fixed.

unfortunately for me, i paid full price for Resco Explorer 2008 because i wasn't eligible for the upgrade price... i've gone back to my previous version and will likely stay there because of the current ROM copy and inability to delete files issues... i'm glad they've resolved some of the other issues and hope Resco gets the other things sorted out with the latest version real soon...

Me too I find ver 6.17 more user friendly. And gone back to it..

Sticking with resco 2007, if I can't play with my rom files, whats the point of using a file manager other than total commander (which you don't have to pay for) that can?

QFT!!!!!!!

resco, it is very smart to listen to your users, agree with their good ideas and then implment those changes as quick as possible. you will get more customers that way.

I've been a Resco customer since 2005 and I tried the new version, but had to go back to 6.17 (which was not easy...) because I need to overwrite ROM files. Any update on these?
1. ROM Overwrite.
2. Uninstall doesn't work.

Just love the Resco Exployer. But scrolling isn't working fine in version 2008. Sometimes the programma selects, sometime the program scrolls.
Perhaps it is a good idea to use the left side of the screen for scrolling and the right side for selecting.

This is a waste of time!
I refused to check this version out until the ability to overwrite ROM files is restored. They know this with this release and still make a big fuss out of it. Shameless...

don be like that..they need us to test it so we can provide feedback and they can change their mistake

Not to mention, this version has a HORRIBLE bug. It freezes up the whole device when mapping the drive..need to soft reset each time.

I've got in my pocket the discount code to upgrade... but listening to all the noise with bugs for a public release, i will wait until RescoFile Explorer is less buggy...
If i buy a soft, i don't buy the privilege to finish the Beta Test process...
I still use with joy the Resco Explorer 2005 (V5.42)...

Update, Resco Explorer v7.02 has been released. Hope it fixes things.
edit: here are the fixes:
-Apptodate support
-advanced font settings
-toolbar-separate set of icons for large/small mode
-overwriting ROM files allowed
-...and several bug-fixes and improvements (let's hope so)

issues....
Nice release...big improvement from 2007.
Nice flow...good GUI...but
a. the side bar missing letters
b. delete function does not work. Copy and paste seem to be ok...
it takes a bit to get used to but since this is new release is a big departure from before. Not sure how the iskin is activated or maybe it is activated.
thanks...

What version is it ???
I had installed version 6.19 Beta3 - it works fine but still having bugs
then I downloaded and tried the version 6.20 Beta4, comments below:
The program has something new in comparing with Beta3:
- iPhone skin, it's nice
- more settings, nice
- the side letter navigation bar is working better than beta3
- the speed is improved
because of the malfunction of the Delete feature (none of the data or file can be deleted), I switched back to Beta 3 last night

I know this is a beta but asking for reg codes (even on betas) on this site will get you beat up pretty quickly.
Does the beta even require a reg code? I installed it and it never asked for one.
Didn't have any problems deleting stuff. Either through Recycle bin or sending things straight to oblivion.
I like the detail that if you scroll your finger on the Right side of the screen, it goes up and down the file list, and if you scroll on the left side of the list if multi selects items.
The iPhone skin is cool aswell, haven't really found any problem so far.
Would be cool to add an option that would allows us what extensions to be shown on virtual files. For example, so that the Videos virtual folder could show .flv aswell
Good upgrade, haven't used the FTP module yet, but the Registry module is working pretty good.
Thanks for the heads up on this update, and keep us posted

Bug with virtual folders.
Can't seem to be able to rename the folders, if I go into properties to rename I can't type in the box, and if I go directly on the "rigt click"---rename option it will rename to a random symbol and then if I try once more it will delete the folder.
Cheers, Esko
so...will this work on smartphone versions of windows?...or no....
try switching the SIP to anything else while doing it.

BTW, i tried to use the key i used when i bought Resco Explorer 2007.. and it worked. i believe it's perferctly legal.
probably shouldn't have opened a new thread for it.. if a mod can transfer my post to the previous Resco Explorer 2008 post and delete this one.. it would be good.
Thanks
If we wait for resco...it will be 4....e...v....e...r... I reported bug with resco keyboard before and it took them a long time to respond.
Thanks for keeping updates on this nice SW.
The side letterbar does not work in windows directory
there is something wrong with it
Back to totalcommander...for now...hehe..I would buy this sw when it released however...nice GUI
thks
installation umsuccessful on my mogul
i'm using it on my Cruise.. works great.
I get also installation unsuccessful and can't remove the previous version but it shows beta 5 in the about dialog and it works!
with this beta I think its usefull.. they are just on the right way to bring this to the next level
they did
if anyone finds following betas, please publish them...
UNABLE TO COPY to windows folder
With REsco 2007, u can copy files such as HTC HOME graphics to windows directory. This feature DOES NOT WORK on Resco 2008.
What a pity....they improved the interface and broke basic things this SW was designed to do in the first place....BASIC file function.....Wat the heck are they doing? First the delete function now this? MAN.....
man.. i don't know... it works fine for me.

GSlide 0.3 - Now with MortSupport :)

Hi Everyone
Try my new GSlide version which has built in MortScript plugin support
http://81.93.138.210/GSlide
I bet you can make some cool things with this
Also please try to make some skins. Still have some bugs in the skinning support but it works pretty well
Give me comments!
Ciao,
Lars
hallo, just found this. a smooth and fast fingerfriendly file explorer. very good.
but here are my problems:
- can´t open a txt-file file or xml file, but need a text editor, is it possible to link these files to totalcommander ?
- the app crashes (unexpected error)when i try to open the "windows" folder and "own videos"-folder ?
- what are these functions/apps at the right bottom ?
thanks for help. if you want i can do a skin for it.

It actually used Word Mobile by default when i tried openning a text file.
it runs very very smoothly. nice interface. very simple and straightforward.
obviously just a beginning as there's no copy, paste, cut... advanced config and other options. maybe a small kinetic toolbar throttlelauncher like with the most important actions on it?... just throwing stuff in the air.
very very cool.
nice start...
implement what already been stated + maybe some smoother transitions.
I love your program. It'll probably be a free alternative for Resco Explorer in the future. Keep developing and listen to user feedback.
One feaute request: I'd like to have the option of row height. This program will mainly be used with thumbs and not everyone has the same thumb size.
@nir: i know i can open txt-file with word but i rewrite xmls and txt-files for programming.
anyone elso has a crash when opening windows folder ?
Hi
Thanks for your feedback!
First of all, replace the old installation with the new 0.3 version.
Regarding opening files:
By default GSlide uses shell execute, which is to say the default windows association for the file type.
By adding the MortSupport feature i have made it possible for you to add custom actions by writing or modifying scripts in the actions folder. Read more on the site
GSlide has problems with large folders such as the windows folder. The memory runs out. This can be handled by paging the directory (splitting it up into several pages).
Regarding errors for the context shortcuts, its mostly due to different file paths in the operating system. In the swedish version for example My Documents is called Mina Dokument... Go to the /GSlide/actions/ folder and edit the "GSlidePath.mscr.inc" file which is the place where all system paths are stored. There you can change the paths according to your config.
Regarding skins:
Lot of updates have been made such as,
- row height
- background color
- font
- font weight
- etc...
I will keep updating GSlide with many cool things Help me to write cool script actions! Post to web maybe?
Dont forget to use the latest version!
Ciao,
Lars
New API script for all GSliders
I made a new, more logical API include to make developing of actions easier.
I have also added a "copy file" and "delete file" action as proof-of-concept.
the GSlideAPI script is pretty nifty if I might say so it implements a Object-Oriented looking code style to MortScript. check it out
Ciao
Just tried it and it seems to run pretty smooth. I am sure this is just the beginning for this app. With time this could be something very useful and great. Good job so far
Some suggestions for new versions:
- possibility to show the taskbar
- scrolling looks good, BUT it is a little bit difficult to stop the list and click on the right file - perhaps you could build in a gesture to stop (e.g. short tap on screen => stop)
- of course such basic things like "rename", "send" etc. (file size...)
BUT GREAT WORK! GSlide is a tool which fills another gap for a fingerfriendly Windows Mobile
Thx
Melkor
edit: Nevermind
Updated version coming shortly
hi
New GSlide on the way soon. I have been focusing on getting friendly with MortScript for the last couple of days
I will make a new actions menu with improved usability and make it possible for an action to span several steps (such as copying or moving files to other directories). the pure UI bling and skinning related stuff will have to wait a bit
Please give me feedback concerning the MortScript API.
Ciao

Stuff to get on Phone

Hey you guys, I just recently joined the SE xperia x1 club. I was wondering what are the essential stuff to get on my phone. Like ROM updates, panels anything. I just recently got the xperia tweak and I am looking for other stuff.
Also what games will work and where can I get them.
Sorry if this is asking too much, but im really excited about the phone and want to load it up quickly and experience it.
Thanks for ur replies
Check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=441439.
This shows many of the programs/roms/panels that are available.
I strongly recommend the free SPB Mobile shell from the sony website.
As far as games go, check out: http://xperiancer.blogspot.com/2009/01/gaming-on-xperia-part-2.html
What I currently have on my phone:
* CorePlayer (great media player - allows preamp)
* PocketRAR (WinRAR for your pocket PC)
* Run.GPS Trainer UV (tracks your exercise via the inbuilt gps)
* SPB Backup (back up all the data on your phone into a self extracting executable)
* SPB Weather 2 (custom weather sources)
* SPB Wireless Data Monitor (track your usage on each connection/application)
* TomTom 7 (Gps)
* Total Commander (free file manager - well worth getting)
* Xperia Tweak 2.0 (use this to set your default start up panel too).
* Pocket Controller Pro (see and control your mobile phone screen from your computer)
* SPB Phone Suite
* SPB Pocket Plus
I have also changed my icons for the top (e.g. battery, wifi etc) from this site: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.php?p=572437&postcount=7
Give google a shot. You will find all of these plus more.
I haven't built up enough courage to be putting custom roms on my X1 yet, but if you decide to try make sure you read all the how-to's so you don't brick your phone.

Put the Taskbar5 Dll's zip file on your memory card (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=22230&d=1233162520)
Use "Total Commander" (the file explorer on the phone won't do it properly) to extract these files into the Windows directory on your phone.
Download and install the cab files located in tsowentaskbar5v1.7.zip (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=22229&d=1233162507) and then soft reset your phone.
You should notice the changed icons straight away.
There is no order to install the cab files in, just make sure you copy the files from the dll zip across first using total commander.
Thanks for the info Buzz83... works like a charm and the icons are slamming... well you know pretty cool...

Developer's Notepad

Heyas!
Here's a rough of the notepad of my dream
Now it have:
a support of ANSI, UTF-8, UCS-2 for reading
use UTF-8 when saving into a file
syntax highlighting for C/C++/Java and a bit of HTML
tested (few) on megabyte files
a piece of slowness in some actions
I just want ask you, All, for opinion - does it have a right to live with current performance of the editor? Yeah, it should be equipped with
editing of a multiple documents simultaneously (tabbed)
customizable highlighter for a more languages
actions with binding on hardware keys
"recent files" list
search and replace
or evenmore ide-stuff: autocomplete, quick navigation thru source code, an external compiler support
(...)
But it will be later. I'm not sure if it too slow and huge for a pocket source code editing Or maybe there is a good and feature-rich notepad/IDE with all of I've mentioned above?
Nice idea. I'll try it out now, and see what happens.
I was able to open HTCHomeSettings.xml file that is too big for Total Commander or notepad in my phone (59.3kb).
Now I have a tool I can tweak my Manila2D settings while on the road.
I did notice the soft buttons are not in English, but everthing else shows up as English.
By the way, I used UPX standard compression and got your file to 144k before I put it on my phone.
NICE! one, this goes into my "useful apps" folder on my card
Really nice fast app.
I currently use cke (http://www.animaniak.com/cke/cke_main.asp) as my text/code editor on my WinMo device.
Have a look at the website and this app for some really good ideas to implement into yours.
The biggest problem I have with yours is that I can't browse the full file system.
Its a great start, and it sounds like you have a plan to make it a great piece of software.
It looks like you made space for the line numbers but they are not showing.... is that a bug or something you have just not completed?
An integrated ftp uploader/dowloader may also be really usefull...... So you can edit your website easily on the go.
