I am sorry, but I have searched before asking. What is the Maximum size that the Mogul can handle. I have heard between 4GB/8GB will work. But Before I buy, I would like to get your honest opinions as to what to buy.
Thank you for your input

I have had a SanDisk 8gb microsdhc that has been great. I don't believe you can find much bigger yet, but soon there should be a 12 or 16gb microsdhc released.
With the new ROMs you can use SDHC without issues, but you will need a non-sdhc to flash 1-2gb is best.
i think the 12 is already out, 16s were supposed to be available this month
SDHC is capable of up to 2tb, so theoretically so is the mogul
Thanx
I will go ahead then and get the 8GB version, thanx a lot for the input guys. I appreciate it
I believe you need to have the latest firmware to go over 4GB don't you?
anything after 2.09 supports 8gb, otherwise there is a cab with the driver for it
Using the 8gb sandisk (class4) in my mogul, be sure to get the one that includes a sdhc reader since 1st gen microsd readers can't read 'em. I believe mine was 50$ at newegg.

I purchased a Sandisk (genuine?) 4GB HC microSD card off of eBay for $60 and so far it works great.
I've heard that the official word from T-Mobile is that it isn't compatible but I thought I would give it a try anyways and viola...
I'm hopeful that the 8GB one will work too.
nice good to know, well i dont think t-mobile ever gave an official word bout it :O

I was looking at the stats of the Wing from the T-Mobile manual, and it states it supports SD 2.0, which means SDHC (up to 32 GB capacity.)
I'm willing to bet that the 8GB one will work without issue.
anyone else got it working? I bought a sandisk 4gb sdhc card and it doesn't work.
Found out my card was bad, waiting for the replacement
It's 100% compatible...
And this is the compatibility list:

8gb Micro SDHC
I can confirm that the 8gb Micro SDHC (class 2) works on the Herald/T-Mobile Wing. I just purchased it, and have been using it for almost a week now, with no problems. Both Windows and Mac recognize it as 8gb (less when formatted) while it is in the phone, and have no problems reading or writing to it. I hope this helps if anyone was wondering.

I'm looking to finally jump in and pick up an Advantage, but would like to skip the micro-sd format. If I pick up a 4GB microSDHC card with adaptor so it can be used in a miniSD slot, like this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134528
...is there any reason the Advantage wouldn't read it? Has anyone tried this?
Thanks,
Galt
I use microSD with adaptor. It work
Thanks, good to know.
Is there any reason you don't just buy a 4Gb MiniSD? That's what I have in my Athena and I use it alongside the MicroDrive.

I kinda feel like mini is already a dead format, most new HTC devices use micro, so I don't want to invest in it. Also, I'm buying the Advantage as kind of a temporary device, I think I'll be replacing it in less than a year with a device that likely uses micro. If I bought mini it'd be a waste.
I'm sure they will have changed format again in a year! LOL

Now that is a reason - if you want 6Gb now.I have a 4Gb Mini in my Athena now and if I get a device that takes Micro in a years time I'm sure larger capacites will be available.
And it does beg the question 'Can the Advantage read 6Gb cardsor is 4Gb the max'. Am I right in presuming that if it can read a4Gb SDHC (as opposed to SD) card, then it should be able to read a 6GB SDHC card OK?
Has anyone actually tried a 6Gb card?
And if they do work am I going to buy one. I know I shouldn't but.....
I'm using a Kingston 4GB SDHC with a mini adapter on my Dopod U1000 (still original firmware). Performance is faster than the in-build Microdrive. 4GB is the smallest SDHC capacity. It is not a problem to use a 6GB or even the 8GB SDHC from Kingston.

He said SDHC, which has the 8 GB capacity. The largest microSDHC capacity is only 6 GB, so I think this is not what he meant.
Not so fast.. 8GB MicroSD has already been announced, and will be hitting stores soon, if not already.. MicroSD is also SDHC Compatible. Besides have you ever thought he OP, might have missed/left a word out?

Correct, OP meant to say he wanted to use micro to mini adaptor to avoid miniSD format.
I'm not aware that kingston already sells 8gb microSDHC. That's good news if this is true. Any head up on where I can source this? Samsung's is still vapourware (2008 availability) AFAIK.
Samsung, Sandisk and Toshitba all have plans for 8GB in the works.
One of them will be selling soon, as opposed to 1-2 yrs from now..
Sorry for the confusion. I have a Kingston 4GB microSDHC in a mini adapter on my Dopod U1000 (original firmware). My friend has a SanDisk 6GB microSDHC (bought in the US) also in a mini adapter on his Dopod U1000 (upgraded to Dopod WM6). The Kingston 6GB microSDHC is expected in the stores in Kuala Lumpur around Christmas (according to the local distributor) and the 8GB microSDHC sometime Q2 2008.
When I bought mine just a couple of months ago, they only had 4 GB max. Soon, we'll have double that amount. Wow, this is just fantastic. As big as our harddrive! What speed class would it be I wonder. I'm going to put all my musics in there. Currently I'm constrained by the lack of capacity, and am using multiple miniSD to swap in and out. In future I won't need to do that anymore.

I beleive those were SANDISK, not Samsung. And again, I don't think they are avail yet. Should be before Xmas.

the top memory card is always overpriced, considering the nuisance of carrying one of those tiny things and exchanging it out, especially if your running programs off it, its worth it.

I contacted memorybits.co.uk in the UK and they said hopefully by 2nd November it will be in stock. Not a bad price at £55.
And still no answer to this question:
Re: C4 or C6, does the Kaiser even take advantage of the C6 speed? i.e. I know it can read it, but can it read/write that fast to it to see the difference between C2, C4, and C6? I've asked this and no one has answered it.
I mean, why wait or pay extra for a C6 if the TyTN II reader can't even sustain that speed?
IMHO, it doesn't really matter. If you want to xfer a large amount of data onto or off the card, the extra bandwidth will be useful.
Plus, I *always* try and buy the best quality part I can. For example, I own SD card camcorders too, and it is always best to put as fast a card as possible in those.

Jomo, I agree that performance and quality do count.
However, with Sandisk surely they only produce one 6GB micro SD card?? If this is the case, why don't you e-mail them about it and ask for the detailed spec?
I've tried contacting them but they've not replied yet.
Not to sure about the speed, bit I received mines today, and I love it. I see no speed difference in reading and writing on the tilt. Mines is the scandisk.
Anybody seen 8GB Sandisk's in the wild? I.E. at Best Buy or Verizon or anywhere? What class are they?
I *just* got my 6GB class4 from Amazon today... but I'd pay the extra for 8 if I didn't have to wait...

I have the Sandisk 6GB card. it's Class 4. My question is, if they come out with a Class 8 one later, can the TyTN II take advantage of the speed? I.e. What's the Kaiser's max speed? I'm sure the festest cards would still be readable, but not sure if it would perform faster than a Class 4 if the Kaiser is the "bottleneck".
As for 8GB, I don't think they are generally avail yet, esp not in the US. I wouldn't expec tot see those available via US mail order til about mid Nov at least, and in stores like BB and CC? Not til next year I bet. They don't even have 6GB cards yet in places like Best Buy, Circuit City, and Fry's Elex...

Does anyone try a 8 GB microSD on Kaiser? Is it really working? What ROM do you use for this?
I'm using a 6GB microsd card but I've seen plenty of users with an 8GB microsd card on this forum.
It doesn't really matter what ROM you're using, the Kaiser supports microsd HC (high capacity) cards, which allows the usage of cards beyond 2GB (-> 4, 6, 8 and the newest 16 GB).

I've been using a SanDisk 8GB on my Kaiser for almost a year now with no issues. I'm using the stock WWE ROM the device shipped with.
What class are these sandisk cards?
Personally I want to hold out for C6 or C8 cards before upgrading my 6GB C4
AFAIK they're C4 cards. I'm going to wait for C6 or 8 to come out too, the C4s do run a little slow.
I'm using my 8GB card, which I also used in my XDA Orbit (with cooked SDHC drivers), since I've had it. No issues at all.
I don't think I really need 16GB right now, I've still got 2.5GB free on my current 8GB card, but my music collection is expanding, and I think Tomtom Navigator 7's map files are larger too... Maybe soon.

is patriot a relaiable brand for the micro sd?
is it just me or the picture on the website http://www.mobymemory.com/products/SanDisk/SanDisk-16GB-microSDHC-Memory-Card.asp
looks like its been photoshopped
It definitely looks photoshopped. The number 6 in the 16 is not the same color or size as the number 1 nor is it the same font as the rest of the words. You can also clearly see the square around the 6 showing that the 6 was cut from another image.

Micro SDHC Class 2 or 6 ?
Hi,
AFAIK the 16 GB Micro SDHC are currently only available with Class 2 speed.
Is this sufficient for the X1 ?
Or is there any advantage using a Class 6 Micro SDHC ?
AFAIK these are currently only available upto 8 GB like the SanDisk Mobile Ultra series.
Any recommendations?
Thanks you.

Andreas
