My ISP "airtel" is providing me a gprs/edge connection for the last two days from now. But the damn problem is that I can't download anything more that 3mb. So I have downloaded several browsers to find the same thing in the internet explorer option to change the proxy. But I cant do that in pocket IE because doesn't have that option. So I tried Different Browsers to check if they have there own anonymouse proxy settings.
BROWSER Built in Proxy Settings SPEED Rating
OPERA 9.5 NONE Fast 10/10
OPERA 8.65 NONE Very Fast 8/10
WINDOWS INTERNET EXPLORER NONE Fast 5/10
MINIMO YES SLOW 4/10
FTX NONE MEDIUM 6/10
OPERA MINI Running On jbed NONE VERY FAST 8/10
NetFront 3.5 YES ULtra Fast 9.5/10
Webby NONE Medium 6/10
IF THERE ARE MORE PLEASE LET ME KNOW...
MINIMO DEOSN"T WORK ON GPRS, It works Well WITH LAN/WLAN But Doesn't work with egprs/gprs
...... NOTHING WORKED...
HELP ME!!!
NEtfront 3.5 Supports proxy but i Haven't tested it yet.
So far the fastest is Netfront which makes you browse like hell. Like you have a 8mbps connection. Although Its fast and effective it has very a big problem. The downloader has a problem that needs to be fixed but no problem with WLan. If you have slow connection, I would not recommend this. Rather FTX or PocketIE.
You've left out Skyfire, but it's still in beta testing, so maybe not a good candidate for this, yet.
I never could get skyfire to start on my Wizard..It would start and say "Lost network connection. Please try again later." and the only option is exit
That's probably because you didn't get yourself invited to be in the beta test. You have to go to Skyfire's website, and sign up for it. You give them your cell number and phone type, and if they need someone with your model, they send you a text message after configuring their servers to approve your phone when it requests service for Skyfire. Then you can install the browser, enter your password (only during the first run of the browser), and after that, you're off and running.
If you don't register, you don't get in. Period.
FWIW, I wouldn't bother, if what you're seeking is web anonymity. Skyfire has your phone number and presumably can easily tie you to your browsing history through that. Probably the exact opposite of whatever pr0n search you're planning....
Na,... I woudn't use skyfire until its out,..
Ive Tried another browser... its called Ucweb and its in java
I run it under jbed
I can pass the 3mb limit but the speed is very slow
I am still open for suggestions
Hi, due to your suggestin i tried to download netfront but cant. can someone upload it? please?
just wondering , any of this browsers support streaming videos ? ( like youtube )
SKYFIRE SUPPORTS IT!!!!!
Even YOUTUBE, THE HARDEST SITE YET KNOWN (ESPN)
Support for quicktime streams to!
But you have to sign up for the next beta
Ive already sign up (two accounts... don't tell them!)
hehehe i won't
the thing is, skyfire is open only for the united states and not for th e whole world ... plus no one seems to crack it.
so for middle eastern like me it will not work .
CAN THIS WORK?
My brother lives in the usa,can I give his phone number instead of mine and just email him to give me the download link.
I THINK THIS SHOULD WORK?
MAN!!!! I WANT SKYFIRE!

This can only work if the phone trying to access SkyFire has the same phone number and valid password as the account which signed up for the beta. Sign up with your own phone number, phone type, etc. or you just won't be able to use SkyFire, period. That is the very definition of a closed test. See their FAQ page for more info.
See, I could upload the cab file right here, and you still won't be able to use it... go ahead and try for yourself.
Damn, there's gotta be a way to bypass the login and phone number. how about just freaking remove the authentication
SkyFire is resolving pages server-side. Without a valid login, you just can't get to their server, so you never see the intarwebs. Pretty simple.

Sorry if someone has already asked this.
I was trying to use internet banking on this phone but it will not work. To do internet banking with my bank, I will have to first go to their web page. Then from there, when I clicked the link it should pop another screen. But the problem is, it never ever be able to pop the other screen.
Is there any way to make it work?
Thanks for any help.
Opera for mobile devices may help as it enables you to have a number of tabs open at the same time which is what is needed for internet backing so you should be able to do everything you want on it. It is about $30 US and you can get a trial. Hope this helps.
OK thanks but I was hoping that I can use Internet Explorer. I don't really want to spend money getting another software but if that is the only way, guess I will have to buy Opera.
Thanks again
Well just get the trial and see. I don't know of any way of getting IE to do it. Sorry.
Also try Opera mini it is a Java app web browser and may help. It is free. So try them both.
If you use 3G etc both will make it way cheaper, faster and easier as they format it so you don't have to scroll to the side and it will turn a 500kb web page into about 50kb including pics.
Minimo is free and has JAVA as well !!
Minimo from Mozilla works great, has tabs , JAVA etc .

Have Fun !!
Thanks you guys.
Will try all the suggestion that you all have given me.

in skyfire privacy it says: "we will save all your internet usage and all data like time, websites, etc...:"
it is discussed in many other subforums and all say the same: keep a way...

Its great as said by Brigthand, but, I hate the part where it says that 'it uses web server to capture the image of the whole web page and then sends it back to the device'. This is a great threat to our privacy who use devices to input credit card numbers; online banking etc.
My netfront still rules
Yes, understanding that I fully agree. Like someone looking over your shoulder. Definately not good!
Opera Mini does the same thing, so who cares? Just don't surf illegaly on your phone and you're good. Illegal stuff is usually too demanding for phones anyway...
I don't know why... but I guess I would trust Opera more then the creator of Skyfire. The data goes through a proxy in both which makes it much faster, same thing happens on the sidekicks.
did I get banned
hey I just got my skyfire invitation last night installed and started playing with it even checked some adult websites figured out that it does open all kinds of video but today avery time I try opening it it says lost network conection try again later just doesnt work wondering hat happened
wasn't there a transformer autobot named skyfire?
There was an announcement that it will go Public Beta Morrow!
The public beta is out now. I can't get it to work w/ the T-Zones proxy hack which is a bummer, it works over wifi tho. Pretty good so far, it plays youtube videos straight from the site.
skyfire
Hey skyfire runs good on my wing I have windows 6.1 OTPV6 and I just loaded version 0.85.0.7927 from the first forums page under development & hacking. Youtube looks good and runs smooth thats running wifi , but I did notice it takes lots of battery power

Now don't most US carriers do the same thing anyway?? But like another users stated, If you’re not doing anything illegal on it, you’re good to use it. I've been using it on the old ATT Wireless (mMode) network and by that network being mainly WSP with limited Http support. Skyfire is wonderful. I have been using Opera mini and Mobile to get things done completely through http but still hitting brick walls with some sites.
With skyfire, the only wall I've come to thus far is openview... site with its certificate needing to be installed/accepted. Looking for a solution on that now. Other than that is GREAT for me and my $25 true unlimited data plan.
Here is the skyfire 0.85 public cab file.
Skyfire is a great program.
Try skyfire now!!!!!!
I like skyfire. iv been using it for a while now. it is alittle buggy but i think its worth it. It loads web pages pretty fast without wifi and with wifi enabled its really fast for a mobile browser. i just think the scrolling and the zooming function could be way better.I know that skyfire reqires your phone number to work but if your interested in trying then try this download i have below. its an older beta version, (my first 1 actuallyfrom about a year ago lol) this version may only work with wi fi enabled. Just extract, then drag the folder anywhere on your pocket pc. let me know how this works for u guys.
skyfire and opera are completely different to me skyfire has flash settings for ANY WEBSITe includin for the lonely people xD and i dont think opera has flash settings like skyfire but i hate skyfire load up screen but you need a connection i use wi fi so that a con on opera
Skyfire is Awesome!!
i have been using skyfire for three days now and it works flawless. as to the privacy issue, just dont go to places you would put vital info and just browse other sites for fun and distraction. i have been able to go to all my favorite sites. all worked wonderfull.
Skyfire too slow or too buggy?
Hi,
I asked this in another thread last week, but noone answered.
I'm using my mobile phone HTC HD2 since 2 weeks.
I'm searching a webbrowser which is able to play flash streams.
I used Opera 10... it didn't work
I tried Opera 9.5 with this fix of another thread... it didn't work
And for a few days I tried Skyfire 1.5x and the stream beginns to load, but all sites are loading very, very slowly. The other browser are loading faster.
By the way... the stream loads, but just 47% and then it's over... :'-(
Now my question:
Is there a webbrowser which is able to play flash streams?
What is the problem of Skyfire??
Regards
GameCrasher
Hi guys!
i´ve just donwloaded the new opera 9.5 beta for my treo pro and at the beggining worked fine, but now, when i close the app, and try to re-open it later, it freezes and do not open at all. it only appears the name of the last webpage i tried to open. so i have to do a soft reset and will work again, but soon or later, it happens once more
what do u think about it?
i´ve tried to install it on the main memory, and it ´s the same
it doesn´t re-open after close it by clicking in the upper-right corner.
hi jumanjii,
I've had the same experience with the treo pro and opera mobile 9.5 beta. Basically if you use the built in task manager to kill Opera, it causes problems. There must be part of Opera that is not fully shutdown.
Until they resolve this, use the menu in the bottom right and select exit. This will shut opera down properly.
Im not certain but i think this is related to a bug with the opera widgets. Im not sure why but when ive had this problem sometimes the opera widgets folder/app is still running.
Id say get used to using the exit command in the menu, switch back to 8.6 or wait for the final version of Opera.
Skyfire FTW!
I vote for skyfire as well.

why would skyfire NOT work in any country except us and canada. its only a browser and thats it. It depends on weather u have a good signal or bad signal that mostly dictates how fast the internet.
Opera 8.65 works perfect for me. I haven't tried the Skyfire yet.
have u experienced very slow speed when browsing the net?¿?¿ i mean, with opera and internet explorer either. even loading google´s webpage takes ages!!!
Will IE 6 mobile be released as as installable app or will it only be available in ROM on new devices?

Skyfire's website says that the browser is only supported in US and Canada. Apparently you can put in random numbers for the phone number during the registration process and get the cab. So i stand corrected.
BUT, they still dont official support its use outside the US. I think the reason is that skyfire uses its own servers (probably located in the US) to render the page and then sends it as a compressed image; Being outside the us means your introducing a 200ms delay (for us aussies atleast) to every action.
*completely non technical comment: does anyone else find the skyfire ceo product demos to be a bit weird and off putting; They seem way to sure of themselves and dismisive of other technologies they are borrowing from; it reminds me of the attitude of people during the dotcom boom. i dunno...

Thanks for enlightning me about that I had no Idea guess I take somethings for granted here. To me though a browser is still a browser however now that u said the skyfire servers are most likely in the US it does make sense.
IRIS browser
Ive been trying the open source IRIS browser the last few days. Its been good so far, very thumb friendly.
Opera Mini
I still am a fan of Opera Mini which works great after installing JRebeiro_EsmertecJbed.cab
I will try SkyFire today though
Best web browser
I live in Chile, in south america, and SKYFIRE work with any problems... great. but i use this only for web page with flash content, like youtube or others 'tubes' ... but for the rest, Opera is the better choice. IMHO.

hi
with my blackstone i use opera 9.5 but with the treo netfront 3.5 rc9 is the best solution... you can download it for free on the access web site.
My treo Pro get some curious issue with Opera 9.5 : when launched, all my "sounds & notifications" choices was deleted, no alarms at all was selected. It happens every time i launch Opera !
Are you experienced the same Issue with Opera ?
OMG! has anyone tried the Mach5 web aceller browser for windows mobile on their x1s? This browser is freaking the best ever!!! it renders pages way faster than opera mobile, way faster than skyfire, and in way better quality!!!! has neat settings like, page width (800 pixels or 1024 pixels),Pc or mmobile viewing, double click zoom ratio, you also have an option to use a sliding zoom, wich also has a orientation changer wich works on the spot!!! But best of all it suprts ajax, flash!!(yes flash, you can watch youtube right in the browser, stop, play, or even change to full screen viewing!! guys really, if you havent checked it out, try it, youll love it!!!
hmmm. i go to investigate...be back with results
strboy, please let me know when you have results!
it sounds promising =D
OK....checked it out, its not free. and nowhere on the website does it state how much it is, or even a buy now option
it does say "Mach5 Web for Windows Mobile OPEN Free Trial is valid until the middle of May 2009."
you also have to fill out a form...name number..ect ect....Im not downloading for a few days trial...It doesnt seem worth it to me. if anyone else wants to the site is
http://www.netacceler.com/home/main.html
Dude, but of course your not goin g to be able to download from the official site! First of all you need a korean mobile number to download. I got it off the net, if you know what i mean, if you search you will find it. beleive me this is awesome!
tested youtube, works excellent, all videos, also tested facebook as well, and all videos in facebook work as well as(im not jking on this one)the instant messeging also works!!!!! this is just how a mobile browser should be.
Sounds a bit like advertisement. Anyway you don't have to put a real number. Just have a valid email
Hmm...is it allowed to ask for a cab here?
Because I guess it is just an advertisement and there is no cab floating anywhere...
Greets
Edit: Have found a cab file but browser cant connect to the internet...what a shame
Looks good though =)
just installed the trial version.
pretty good fast browser.
best thing it autodetects flash videos, like break.com and plays it in the built in player in medium/good quality.
here's the trial cab i got after filling in some fake address.
Looks awesome, sounds great... BUT.
1) It won't go, doesn't properly detect my internet connection.
2) Looks like you're gonna have to pay a monthly fee to use it.
EDIT: On a few later tries, I sometimes got it to load a page, but it would randomly disconnect. Very unstable.
well for me ii have no problems connecting at all, the only problems i found so far are:
1: the mouse or pointer for some reason it dont work, it just scrolls the page.
2: Video quality is excellent compared to Skyfire, but Skyfire has more compatibility with videos ex: apple trailers(skyfire can handle them, mach5 cant)
3:Of course that you have to pay for it. (dont know the version i have expires or not, cause i did not download from official site, will update if it does thou.)
My last impresions of this browser are:
1: very fast, a tas faster than Opera and just in par, or a bit slower than Skyfire
2:The quality of rendered pages are excellent compared to Skyfire, and about on par with Opera.
3:Video quality is way better than skyfire by a long shot!! but has less video compatibility.
Now only if skyfire ups their video and rendering quality it would blow this away. Except for the built in player of course wich is an awesome feature of mach5.
For now it stays on my x1 as an alternative. Very good, but not perfect.
just my 2 cents.
So to start it off, I must say WOW that this browser is def. something pretty interesting!! very smooth loads quick an works fast!! I have to say that im liking it so far an what it has to offer!! I also like how if you viewing a few pages an you click the button that shows how many pages ur on, you can swipe back an forth between them kinda like a cover flow!! To bad its on a trail issue an that then you prob have to buy it or something, that im not totally sure off but I hope to see more come from this company!!

Can the people that have connection issues try to go to the comm manager manually and start the connection before opening mach5 to see if that works? just a though that might help. Now im just waiting for Opera Turbo to come out to see its greatness! Still with mach5 in my x1 working great, to bad i guess it will expire.I just wish they updated it, and made it freeware, or atleast a decent price, not onn a monthly basis, i mean if the little problems get washed out i dont mind paying $10 or $20 for this.
ajajajajaja this browser just gets funier!! iwent to dslreports.com and it allowed me to do the flash download test, with the speedometer in all its glory!! ajajaja Download speed 1363Kb/s Upload speed 1225Kb/s, of course not real speeds since this is server oriented, but just too funny, is like im on my real pc at home!!!

What is the battery hit like? That has been my problem when I tried Skyfire, it just drained my battery.
I've trawled other thread on both Opera and iplayer, without success, hence opening this one.
Don’t ask me how, but I’ve ‘lost’ the version of Opera which was preloaded on my Vodafone UK HD2, probably by having moved the shortcut via which the browser used to open.
I have since installed Opera 10 beta, and changed the custom user agent to ‘HTC_Touch_HD_T8282’ as per other thread, which is fine, and gets me on to the iplayer site as a recognised/supported device.
BUT, when I click on the ‘play’ icon on the TV show I’ve selected, I get a message from iplayer saying they don’t allow overseas users to view the content. The same can be said for any radio content, live or catch=up.
I’m very much in the UK, and get the same issue whether I use the home or office wireless networks, or over the data connection which was auto-configured for me when I first started on my stock Vodafone UK HD2.
I can get the stream working on Skyfire, but not view it at all well, as it doesn’t open within the application which I used to use with the older version of Opera for streaming media such as that from iplayer.
I looked for an Opera support forum, but the ones I founds aren’t that enlightening. Posters on the slightly better Skyfire forums seem to think that it’s down to the server via which the request to the iplayer server is routed is non-UK, and they start talking about proxy server settings and the like, which means zilch to me I’m afraid.
I’d like to watch via my Opera browser, but I’m at a loss to what to do next. Has anyone any ideas? Do I need to tweak some Opera settings in opera:config, change some settings elsewhere on my device, or find a way of making the iplayer server think (as I indeed am) in the UK? Any help or suggestions anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated, please.
Oh, and the great looking iplayer app isn’t working, as I get consistent error code, which I’ve posted about on the thread for that app.

I remember reading some where that if you downloaded a US version of opera then it won't work. Try downloading a UK version (I could be talking rubbish though).
HD2 iplayer working in Opera 10 beta2
Hi I had a similar problem with my installed opera 9.7 on my vodafone hd2 which stopped working, & rather than factory reset the phone I installed Opera 10 beta 2 which is much better than 9.7 & i dont really miss the pinch zooming much. Anyway I got the same message that said iplayer only available to uk, and as i had recently checked the turbo option in the settings I decided to uninstal 10 beta2 & reinstal it but didnt check the turbo setting & went into the user pref & entered the ‘HTC_Touch_HD_T8282’ as per other thread, & also set the user agent to 2 instead of 1. I then saved & exited went into iplayer mobile & it works the only little niggle is the "download file - iplayer_streaming_n95_wifi.sdp" box which appears each time you want to use it. you have to click save & its only 4kb (THEN PRESS open to play the file) but it is annoying as opera 9.7 didnt bring it up. Im sure there is a setting somewhere that will do the streaming automatically but i havent found it as yet.
Re: Overseas user problem
In some situations (opera mini, new opera turbo mode, etc) opera route the traffic through their own proxy servers, so the bbc website sees their home as the connection country, which in the case of opera is norway,.
Just use myplayer instead: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=501131
Thanks for all your suggestions
keith43 - You may be wrong, as I've searched and searched, and found nothing about a UK-specific version of the Opera 10 beta, or any other version in fact.
Samsamuel – Thanks for that. How would I route the traffic through a UK IP address, or fool the iplayer site into thinking that’s what I’m doing?
Shasarak – I did start to use myplayer, but to be honest didn’t find it the easiest to get on with, particularly when searching for programs. The iplayer app was better, but is no longer supported, apparently.
Rabidrat – Followed your tips, and now have iplayer working just fine. Brilliant! As you say, a little bit of a annoyance having to download a file for each program I want to view, but if it gets me to what I want to be doing, not a huge hassle I suppose. Am I right in thinking the site thinks I’m an N95? Isn’t that a Nokia device?

I suspect Keith was remembering something about Skyfire rather than Opera; it is possible to get Skyfire to use a UK-based proxy server which makes it compatible with iPlayer (although the result isn't that watchable - good resolution, but poor frame rate).

Well, whatever works for you.
Personally I find the video quality you get when using the Opera user-agent hack is so atrocious that I'd really rather not bother; myplayer downloads are still pretty bad quality, but at least they don't actually make my eyeballs bleed.
The latest version of myplayer (1.96) supports iPlayer categories, which helps a little with searches.
I am using Latest Opera 10 Beta 3, I get download "iplayer_streaming_n95_wifi.ram" message, then when i click open nothing happens. Any ideas?

I am on beta 2, and get offered the option to 'save'. If I then open it, I get the stream okay.
I have disabled the 'opera turbo' option and changed the user agent from '1' to '2' (as per rabidrat's post above).
i also have the custom user agent altered to 'HTC_Touch_HD_T8282’ as per the Leo hint and tricks thread.
