ConnMgr - Mogul, XV6800 General

I've been trying different options to alter the Data Disconnect on my Verizon Titan. Ideally I wanted it to disconnect after the phone shut off +/- 30 seconds. I've tried several different options, ending up with PocketToolman which is simple enough...or just using the ConnMgr directly. I just recently tried using the KaiserTweak, and things seemed fine with that.
The problem w/ KaiserTweak (at least in my case, may not be generally) was that whatever interval I set the time for: 1 minute, 30 seconds, 10 minutes..it seemed to randomly disconnect whenever it wanted to.
At this point I'm just looking to
1: Remove KaiserTweak - Done that already
2: Bring back the original Registry Settings - Need a bit of help
I've hard reset my phone enough times recently to not want to take up the 20 minutes or so to install everything and get settings going.
The following changes have been made in my registry:
SuspendResume: GPRS_bye_if_device_off
CacheTime: 120
Could anyone post what SHOULD be found under:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings without changes?
Thanks, if not...one more hard reset never heard a guy.

Password/Lock time out issues...

Guys,
Got the Trinity yesterday and I love it, got the white one by the way and its a killer! Everythings fine and up and running except one little thing which is annoying me.
Usually on PPC's such as the Imate Jam, K-Jam and other HTC devices, when you set a password for the device and you set the "Prompt if device unused for" to 0, usually it allows you to work with the PPC for as long as you like and only asks for the password when you switch it on from the stand by mode.
But this is not the case. It still times out after 1 minute (even though I set it to 0 and not 1 minute time out) of inactivity and requires me to enter the password! If I wanted this to happen then I would've set it to time out after 1 minute!
The only way around this problem is to set the time out to a fixed number of minutes, 5 for example. This works but when the device comes out of stand by mode, it no longer asks for the password! Unless of course 5 minutes have passed!
I would like it to let me do my work, read ebooks etc, when the PPC is on and even if I leave it on the table for a few minutes, I dont want to come back and find that its been locked and requires a password!
I only want it to ask me for a password when I switch it on out of the stand by mode!
Tried to explain the best I could...hope you guys understood that.
Anyone else notice this or am I the only one?
Thanks in advance.
Hi DeadCell,
I have experienced this problem too.
I think I found out the solution here in this great forum but I forgot exact heading and title. However, I still remember the workaround because whenever I hard-reset my machine due to ROM upgrade etc, I will do it again.
So below are the steps,
1. Goto Settings and select Lock
2. Under the "Prompt if device unused for", select "0 minutes"
3. Close it then use any Registry Editor that you have and I believe you should have one. If not you can try Resco(commercial) or TotalCommander(Free), and open;
a) "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" then
b) "Comm" then
c) "Security" then
d) "LASSD" then
e) "AE" then
f) "{50C1337-C66D-400C-889E-C316FC4AB374}" then
g) change "AEFrequencyType" from whatever value there to "2" then
h) change "AEFrequencyValue" from whatever value there to "0" then
i) close and save the changes.
j) for best result, wait for one minute for the data to be safely writtem into the registry, then
k) use any 3rd part software that can do soft-reset to reset the phone. DO NOT USE THE RESET BUTTON BY PUSHING YOUR STYLUS IN THE SMALL HOLE FOR NORMAL RESET.
l) that's it.
If you set your phone to turn-off after one minute, then It will ask you the password that you set in the "Lock" whenever your turn it ON again. However, when you charge or use external power or connect it using USB cable to sync, your machine will not goes off unless you set you phone to turn OFF after whatever minutes. The ask for password only occurs when you turn your devices from OFF to ON.
Remember: this is only achievable if you do this;
"2. Under the "Prompt if device unused for", select "0 minutes"
Kindly follow the instructions accordingly and you will get what you want.

morisa
Thx for the tip cause my trin auto locks on after 30min in navigation software, not really easy
Yep, aspecially during navigation it's extremely annoying...
It's a known 'bug' of WM5, where M$ decided for us that it's a lot safer this way when you leave your device unattended (for instance when it's docked).
The suckers at M$ obviously somehow 'forgot' that these things are being used for navigation as well, where this time-out to the password screen only hinders normal operation...
I'm afraid you'll find more of these universaly stupid 'decisions' by M$ in the WM5 OS...
This reg-hack is a nice solution though... It works tops for me, but however there should be noted that whenever you go into the password settings dialogue again, all will be reset to the way M$ devised for us. So that means you'll have to do the reg-hack again...
oh yes, don't have to to return to params !!
Thanks for the tip Dead Cell.
Just for reference, I'm using a Touch HD with WM 6.5 (Miri's ROM v23), and the problem was still there, but this fix worked a treat.
Thanks again man.
Having a bit of trouble with my one, i have unlocked it and flashed it to generic rom...but whenever i put in any sim card it says 'sim lock'......any advice?

Problem with Backlight timers

Hi guys,
I setup when my JASJAM running on battery, to turn off backlight when the device is not used for 1 minutes.
When the device turn off backlight after 1 minutes, and i turn on it, and check the settings i see that there is a new value set - 10 sec.
Can someone help me, which registry value i need to change.
BR
This problem is purly with the rom you are using. I tried changing this when i installed the beta version of AKU 3.5 Rom and it wouldnt work, even after setting it in the registry! Everytime the device turns off it just resets to 10 secs....very annoying!
2 options.... Flash it, or live with it.
It has been reported that add on programs cause a conflict with the operating system. This results in the backlight defaulting to ten seconds. (With WM5, default is set at thirty seconds.) To remedy situation you can remove, one by one, any programs that you have loaded onto your PPC to find the offender.
I resolved this problem with a hard reset and it hasn't recurred so far.

Backlight turns off after 10sec

Here is my trouble:
When I change the backlight timeout to 30sec in the GUI under the Backlight, Battery Power tab, it resets back to the 10sec default after power cycling the 8525.
I do have an HKEY_CURRENT_USER/ControlPanel/Backlight/BatteryTimeout that changes from 7 (Value Data) to 30, when I change the GUI as mentioned above. However it doesn't stick, and changes back after a power cycle.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
motsf
Registry changes aren't realtime. If you're resetting the device too soon, the change won't take.
Wait a few minutes after making the change before you power down or reset or try to change it again.

I've changed the setting in the GUI & in the registry in the morning, and at around 14hrs later, reset it, and it still changes back to the 10sec default.
Any other idea's?
Thanks,
Steve

This problem has been discussed many times on several fora. One such thread is:

Are there any other updates/solutions to this backlight resetting problem? Mine started doing it after a hard reset and it's driving me nuts. I've changed the same registry settings as suggested above, but no effect.
I don't want to hard reset again as it was a major pain to get things going on my 8525 again and I really don't want to uninstall a bunch of programs (I have a ton on mine).
If worse comes to worse, I'll wait for the official AT&T WM6 update to come out next month, but I'd like to see if there's any other solution for now.
Thanks!
JEFF
I think I found something. The backlight timeout stays set until I lock the phone using the today plugin. As soon as I do that, the 10sec timeout is reactivated.
I'm running VP3Gs V3
I've gone for the easy option, given that I don't fancy either uninstalling applications 1 by 1 until I find the culprit or having to hard reset and rebuild the device all over again.
That option is to disable the backlight turn-off setting and manually do it myself after using the device.

It appears that you are right. The "device lock" today plug in does not appear to re-enable the black light turn-off setting if it is off. If it is on, it does change it to 10sec through. Good to know.

HD jumping to home screen instead of turning off backlight

I've somehow developed a really bizarre problem in that instead of turning off the backlight on my phone after the specified timeout time the phone just jumps to the home screen (although this takes a second or two). The timeout is set to 10 seconds, and if I click on a program just after the ten seconds the program appears then the phone jumps back to the home screen. I've been having a look over everything on the phone and I've found that it's missing backlight.exe from in the windows folder, which it is specifying to launch in HKLM/ControlPanel/Backlight/Redirect. I've searched the phone and the only other backlight.* file it can find is backlight.dll. I can only think that this file has somehow got deleted, although I can't work out when this might have happened.
Could anyone verify that this file should exist and if it should, upload it for me?
Edit: A few people have checked for me and the backlight.exe file doesn't exist on the HD (odd that the registry referes to it :/), so it must be something else. I'm making a note of all of my tweaks and preparing for a hard reset incase I can't get this sorted.
Edit2: Had to do a hard reset. Still can't work out what cause the problem as I've set it all back up again just as it was before (including my registry tweaks) and it's fine this time.

[Q] noob help required

Ok, so I think I have it narrowed down to the wifi scan interval registry key as it went all night without waking, but then its started again today, and I checked the registry tonight and its back set at 20 for scan interval.
Now short term answer is to have a small prog I can run to reset it to 0 - any ideas?
