Hi guys. I just got my HTC Advantage X7500(Athena) from Mobileplanet.com. Although it advertises the device is unlocked, I'm not sure it means SIM unlocked or CID unlocked. Any ideas? Thanks all.
well i dont know about cid unlocked but i also got mine from mobileplanet and it is def sim unlocked.
FYI - if you have cingular you will need to goto phone then menu then options then band
network type is wcdma
gsm/umts band is - GSM(1900+850) + UMTS(1900+850)
in order to get it to work with HSDPA

Guys im Uk resident with a HD locked to Orange, if im going abroad to Europe and i want to put a european simcard from another network in my phone do i need it to be sim unlocked or is this just for other uk networks??
you would need the phone to be unlocked if you want to use any sim card that doesn't belong to orange.
ok thanks...........
Hi,
I've bought a HTC Magic from Rogers. From the internet, it seems that some ppl were saying Rogers did not lock any smartphone, but most said it does.
I've tested with my wife's Fido Pay-As-You-Go SIM card, it seems to work. So either my phone is unlocked or Rogers and that Fido prepaid card are sharing the same lock-code.
Anyhow, without any other tools, how can I tell/test if my phone is simlocked or not?
Thanks,
Gary
The Rogers phones are locked. Fido, PetroCan Mobility and Speak Out are all virtual network operators that run on the Rogers network so their SIM's will work in a locked Rogers phone.
You need a non-Rogers SIM (like from a new Bell or Telus phone) or a US or European SIM. As soon as you pop it in it will tell you your locked and will ask you for the unlock code.
Phone won't run home screen but instead will ask for "unlock code".
And unless you give it you can't use the phone for anything (you can't even check any menu, settings or anything).
Hi,
Any one know when these devices are launched in the netherlands for t-mobile ?
Greatings
Antonius
You can order them now:
http://www.pdashop.nl/product/111653/htc-7-trophy.html
http://www.pdashop.nl/plan/?deviceproductid=111653&serviceplanproductid=0
Expected delivery 5/11. You can get them in combination with T-Mobile (and others), or if you already have a T-Mobile subscription, you can get the Trophy and extend your T-Mobile subscription.
you can also get the vodafone version.
Doesn't come with a sim-lock so your t-mobile sim should work fine with it.
I'm using mine with KPN Hi sim.
No branding on the phone, and the only thing showing that it is an vodafone device is the bootlogo.
And in the future i'm pretty sure we'll be able to change that.
Hi
I would be very grateful for some help.
I have just received an unlocked US G2 (not a UK desire Z).
I live in the UK and was previously using an iphone 4 on contract with O2. When I insert my sim card and turn on the phone I get no network service.
I was under the impression that the american version should work in the UK. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks
Nick
Are you sure it's unlocked? I use an American G2 on T-Mobile UK and it works perfectly. But I unlocked it myself after importing it.
Check to see if its been set to 3G / HSDPA only... O2's 3G network isn't the most expansive..
Its in settings / wireless / mobile network / network mode..
It should show "GSM / WCDMA auto"
Craig
I reckon try the gfree root, s-off, super cid from the Development forum.
Thank you for the quick replies
The phone was advertised as unlocked however this may not be the case. On the G1 when I inserted the same sim into a locked unit a message appeared on screen informing me that the phone was locked. This did not happen with the G2 - it simply has no network service.
Is there a simple way for me to check the locked/ unlocked status?
Nick
Weren't there issues with unlock codes? Me thinks so.... I'll have a search.
