I am trying to put a shortcut in Start menu on the device while conected via active sync with Windows Mobile Device Centre but the windows folder does not show up. Can someone tell me how to get to windows folder please.
MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL.......
no one know?
You will need to show all hidden files and folders and all protected OS files on your PC. You can do this in the Organise>Folders and Search options (in windows 7) In Vista i cant remember off hand.
Merry Xmas
I noticed exactly the same thing today! I don't know how to solve this or if it can be solved
But don't worry, you are not the only person. I can only view the windows folder from the device file explorer
I have exactly the same problem. I need access to this folder to do some cleaning up. The chore is too cumbursome on the phone. I really need to know how to access this folder on my computer. Anyone?
Open up file explorer on your pc, and browse to your phones windows folder, then press alt, and a set of menus will appear along the top of the window, click tools - folder options - move to the 'view' tab, scroll down the list and check 'show hidden files folders and drives', then scroll a little further and untick hide protected operating system files.
The phones windows folder should then be visible.

Hey,
I'm having trouble accessing the Windows folder of my device when browsing via my pc. When I browse using WMDC file explorer I cant see the Windows folder. Is there a way to access it?
-Thanks
on your PC - open file manager, press alt - t. This should bring up the tools menu, choose folder options, switch to 'view' tab, scroll down,
Tick 'show hidden files and folders'
scroll
untick 'hide protected operating system files'
click apply(bottom), then click 'apply to folders'(top)
Thanks a lot
no problem.
When you do browse the windows folder on the phone from the pc, dont be surprised that it takes quite a while to populate the file list, it isn't your phone, its a known issue of winmo. Personally i find it easier to use filemanager on the phone (well, resco, ) and copy files to and from the windows folder from there, and use the pc file manager just to copy to other folders and the sd card.

What are you using to copy and paste??
You should use file explorer or one of the 3rd party file tools to copy and "Paste Shortcut"
You browse your device to the program directory and copy and the browse to /windows/Start Menu/Programs and either past it there or into the folder of your choice under that ...
You can also do a cut and paste if you just want to move an existing shortcut ..
and just to be sure , we are talking about the "start menu" what you get when you hit the windows key?
Hi,when i hit the window key,i get a list of all the program installed such market place, you tube,email,messenger...
I would like to have igo and solitaire there as well.
on my pc i can't see the folder windows for the htc,so i directly copy and paste from the phone and it doesn't work.

You have to do it ON the phone, and paste shortcut not just paste ...
also if you cannot see the windows folder on your pc, you need to select activesync as your connection type, your phone will show up in your Computer, if your phone is not asking you what type of connection when you plug it in you go to
Settings>connections>USB to PC, and check the bottom box that says "Ask me ......"
It is no different than creating shortcuts on your pc, but it has to be done ON the phone with file explorer or the like ....
I do it alot so I know these steps do work ...

as said above, you should be doing this on the phone, not the pc.
start - file manager - menu - show all files - browse to windows - find solitaire.exe - press and hold - choose 'copy' - scroll back up and click the folder start menu - press and hold blank area of screen - choose 'paste shortcut'
press home hard key, find a blank quicklink, press it, now you should see your shortcut available.
As for why you cant see your windows folder on the PC, , , open up file manager on the PC, browse to your phone - click tools - folder options - change to 'view' tab - scroll down the list and TICK 'show hidden files and folders' and UNTICK 'hide protected operating system files'
1) Open Windows Explorer.
2) Select View tab from the top.
3) Click Option icon and the choose Change folder and search options from the drop down.
4) Select Show hidden files, folders and drives and click OK.
You are done.

Just a quick how-to sideload apps over wifi; no need to upload/download.
First though, you do need ES File Explorer. Once you have that, you can use it's network feature to sideload over wifi from your phone, or whatever other Android device you have.
On your phone, download Samba Server from the Playstore. Open it once installed.
Select the little plus sign. Select SMB Server from the dropdown. It'll bring up a settings page. All you really need to do here is give your server a name. Switch over to the Roots tab / select Add. Again, give your directory a name. Select Browse to navigate to the directory containing the APK's you want to sideload--for me, this is /backups/apps on my sd card since I use ES File Explorer to back up my apps.
Once you've named the server, and the dirctory (roots) hit the back button. It'll prompt you to save. (Twice). Now just select Start to start your session. Select info and take note of your WIFI IP.
Now on your Ouya, open ES File Explorer. Under Network, select the LAN tab. Select New (+ symbol on bottom). Enter the WIFI IP you just noted above, click the little box for Anonymous, hit ok. This will add a little icon representing your phone. open it, and wa-la.... your APKs at your disposal to install directly over wifi.
NOTE that since you're signing in anonymously, this is unsecure. So you won't want to leave this service running at all times. Just remember to stop the server in Samba Server when you're done.
cheers.
