Just wondering if there is a way to make finger sliding work on HTC home?
I have it set up just the way I like it... and I just want to slide my finger across it to make it switch panes.
I know, TL and RL and whatever else will do it, but I just want something simple. I'd like to stick to a minimalistic phone here.
ps - on a tilt.
Thanks!
Finger sliding on the HTC Home meaning that when you slide left on the clock tab, it will change to the next tab on the right? Say weather or contacts?
Yes it could be cool
Some times I try it and wonder why it doesn't work
a good idea
Good idee!
IEEE 1059
Good ieee?

touch commander does exactly what you want.

and there are skins that look exactly like htc home

i have recently downloaded the htc customizer and i love it..just one question..
i do not use the weather panel tab so i took it off in the customizer...but i was wondering if there was anyway to add a tab...i would love to have a tab to lock the screen...
i know there is a way to lock the phone from the app launch tab..but that requires two taps on the screen...if i could add a lock screen tab..then all i need is one tap to lock the screen...
is there anyway?
If this are not too much taps -ooh...so much sports in the morning - tap on Start - Setings - Today - HTC Home - Activate and move up the launcher as your first button and then you have only one tap to lock your device from the today screen. If you donĀ“t have the six-button-plugin, you must use slide2unlock.
on the htc home plugin there are 6 tabs...home..favorite contacts...weather..launcher..music player....and ringer..
i wanted to know if u could replace one of the tabs with a tab of my own...i would want a screen lock tab..

better to use slide to unlock v.03
This is available in touch commander, however that program is extremely slow basically instead of pressing the icon to switch to fav or launcher you can slide the clock area to the left or right
I dont know if this is currently possible with the HTC Home available in most roms but it would be great to have especially without the slowdown of touchcommander
I've always thought that would be cool, too. I don't think it can be done right now though...but then again, there were many things that I thought couldn't be done here that were done. You never know.
there's a new closed beta of throttle launcher that sounds like what you're looking for. Should be open beta soon.

i like the idea of slide to lock but is there one where u can use the same idea but just have the slider on the screen to lock the device so its on the windows mobile home screen instead of the whole back round of the app like the iphone etc any ideas guys ? cos that would be cool
Maybe this is something that might suite:

All:
I have been using Gyrator 2. So far so good. But if the keyboard doesn't increase in size when you rotate the screen I don't see a huge advantage other than reading text or email on wider screen.
With the iPhone, yes I said the bad word, when you rotate the screen your keyboard changes making it easier to type on. That's what I'm really looking for. Something that will change the keyboard to a more finger friendly keyboard when rotated to landscape. Anything out there that can do that?
Also, any way to shrink those huge black bars when you rotate the screen at the top and bottom? I was noticing the top title bar (black bar 1) and the bottom soft menu bar (black bar 2) are HUGE in landscape mode and take up way too much real estate. It would be nice if those screen disolved and only appeared if you tapped the header/footer in a screen. I hope that made sense. Anythign apps than can do that? Or am I wishing on star.
Make sure you're using the default HTC keyboard, not the WM original one. The HTC keyboard (called full QWERTY in the input picker) does change and fill the entire screen widthwise when the screen is rotated.
shueflie, I am. And you're right. It does fit the entire screen but for some reason it sure doesn't seem bigger. Maybe it's just me. I guess it has to be getting bigger...but for some reason it still seems like too many keys squeezed in.
Are there any replacement keyboards, say something like a standard letter only keyboard, and then you press something for numbers only, and then something for special characters only? My fingers are too big.
Try the phone keypad in portrait mode (either with or without T9) and see if that suits you better. There are other keyboards available but I haven't tired any of them
Will give it a shot. If you can direct me to a link with more keyboards I'd appreciate it, in the meantime I'll use the almighty search and see what I can dig up.

Plenty of keyboards out there. Do a quick search in Themes, Applications and Software and you'll find what your looking for!!!
EDIT:
May also want to check Wiki to ensure keyboard software works ok, Programs/Utilites & Games working on the Touch HD (1 - M) & Programs/Utilites working on the Touch HD (N - Z)
Wow an entire wiki, that's what I'm talkin' about. Thanks!

Not all software is shown on these lists. Best option is to do a search for keyboard in Themes, Applications and Software.
If your unsure about anything, refer to this and it should answer most questions you have!
After installing the update from TMO, The little bar that flips between mail, home, internet, images, music, etc. "shrinks" into a little black tab in the middle of my screen at the bottom.
This is super super annoying because it takes an extra effort to click on the damn thing and then slide my finger to scroll. This also requires a second tap on the screen when i go to browser because the first one simply 'collapses' the little thing and the second one will actually respond to the internet icon you're tapping on.
Tell me there's a way to turn off the collapse of this stupid thing. I tried looking on here but I don't know what keywords to use to search this out. Something like 'htc sense update hd2 registry change' yields nothing.
TIA

It sounds to me like you have cookies home tab enabled?! That is strange are you sure you didn't flash to a custom rom?! I have that one my phone and I have the update but the only way I was able to get that was with CHT. I have attached examples.
Yep! I do have cookies home tab installed! Dang..so is the setting in that to change it? :bangs head:
I'll take a look.
WTHAT A MORON. Thats its. The 'retractable slider' setting. I can't believe I didn't realize that was cookie and not HTC.
Thanks a million for pushing me in the right direction.
Awesome! Glad I could help! I had that enable for a while but it became a little annoying so I took it off! Hahahaha it does make it look really cool!
Hey, thanks for the info. I'm glad I learned about that.
I also have Cookies, and didn't know about that.
Now I have just enabled that feature. Why? I don't find that "ribbon" at the bottom very useful, as it is not very customizable. Nice to have the settings button there at the right, but one can also do that with a Quick Link. I like the music app, but one can also do a quick link for that. Withouth that ribbon, there is room for another row of quick links. (I find it unfortunate that that "ribbon" is so uncustomizable. You cannot choose what is in it, but only what to remove (other than settings and home). (I don't really need that home icon either, because there is a hardware button for home.) I don't like how that "People" tab goes to "HTC People". I'd rather go straight to the regular contacts list. But it can't be changed (AFAIK), only removed.
So by retracting it, I remove the whole thing (can slide it back if I want), but can put the links I like in that ribbon into quick links, for which there is now more room.
Thank you.
