Hi there.
i have a question how i could get %subj% info.
I need to get info from gps with current position and at the same time gather visible mobile transreceivers info (my master work theme)
Btw all this info should be saved in mobile device.
For this i took nokia n80 but unluckily i found that i can get only information about cell device is currently connected, but i need at least 3..
So now i'm thinking off a simple way how i could gather such info...
Since i doubt that n80 will be suitable i'm thinking what phone could be suitable for this my task.
Thanks for info

Hi Guys I am a new user of XDA, I have been using Palm OS for about 5 years mainly with Sony Clie machines, but I wanted to get away from carrying a PDA and a Mobile Phone I run a small taxi business and use the Internet quite a lot for flight arrivals etc so I bit the bullet and bought a S/H XDA to try with the view of getting the XDA2 shortly. As the phone was locked to o2 my first job was to download and run the great rom from XDA Developers (thanks to Jeff). My next job was to setup the GPRS connection for Vodaphone UK this is where the fun really started as my phone supplier and Vodaphone had never heard of the XDA on Vodaphone so could not help with setting for GPRS, this is where I must thank BadKev posted 10 June for his settings list I had to change area code but everything else worked Many thanks BadKev. I still have some problems with software I always used a freeware prog for logging my fuel useage and mileage that I cannot find for XDA OS but I will get round this somehow, anyway keep up the good work and the great forum.
Just look for pocket pc freeware, I am sure there is something similar.
Hi all,
I've spent the last 3 weeks searching through everything so as not to waste anyones time with a simple question but to no avail.
I've been given an XDA II from a family member as they have upgraded to the Exec and I have been using it as a PDA only. Well I see that Orange have some good deals on the go and so decide to use it as a phone/Internet enabled PDA.
I've unlocked it (many times now) got 2003SE on it and have put the correct MMS and GPRS settings in (The ones from Shadamehr). I've checked with Orange and GPRS is enabled on my account with them (PAYG at the mo) but for some reason the same thing that was happening when I first got it pops up
"Cannot connect
There is no modem at the above number..."
So best my small mind can figure is that somehow the 'phone part' of the PDA isn't working. I've tried other sims in it and they don't work either (o2 and Three - but I think Three is funny anyways). Is there something wrong with the actual phone bit?
It's a legit XDA with the M1000 ROM upgrade from the orange site which has made it 2003SE
Does anyone have any knowledge about how I can get my PDA to be a phone? It was once before (but with O2)
Thanks in advance for any and all help.

No modem at above number
Thanks for the link, but believe me I've tried this. I retried it to be sure just now.
"No modem at above number" is what I get after the XDA II tries to connect.
I have no phone reception whatsoever, no internet and no SMS.
My XDA II just works as a PDA with no communication possiblities apart from USB cradle.
Again, thanks in advance for any and all help with this.

If there's no phone reception, and no GPRS, how do you expect to connect to one?
Not to be mean or anything, but aren't your hopes of connecting a little farfetched if all the systems you're trying to use are down?

Your not being mean, believe me after a month of searching through here and SPV developers anything that wuld resolve this issue would be appreciated.
Why would the phone element of my XDA just stop working? I can only imagine some sort of Hardware fault but I'm a thorough bunny and would like to make sure of this. A diagnostic app or some way of reading the phone element like a device driver would be handy.
So in brief, why has my phone part of my XDA II stopped working and how do I switch it back on again (if this is at all possible)?
Thank you for your replies thusfar Cynagen, I shall start to ask these questions in the Himalaya forum also now since it seems model specific and not network related.
Any and all further assistance is much appreciated.

Enough with the double posting please; post your question in one forum and check back. Don't go around the forum posting it in every subforum you can find.
I have the serial number of the device, it is possible through software or something to the device? Even if there is software that costs money I'm willing to pay for ... Please help me :-(
The only software that might help you locate your device is "Sprite Terminator"
or any similar software.
But... it has to be installed already on your device. If you didn't have that kind of
software on your device i'm afraid there is nothing much to do.
Microsoft's "My Phone" might be able to help you. There are advance features:
• Find your lost phone The My Phone service can show you the last known location of your phone on a map (based on where it last synced or shared photos using My Phone). User activation required. Go HERE to Learn more.
?
More options?
if you got the imei nr
report it to the police then they will block the phone from being used as a phone
Agree .
The police can find your phone.
I know cases of people who bought stolen phones without knowing they were stolen. One day the police was knocking on their door.So this is your best chance and it costs nothing i think.
I know it won't help you with this phone, BUT for your next phone install Remote Tracker, a great tool you can find in the Developers section on XDA. The best about it is the "Top Secret" tool or even the sim card change detection ... Of course, nothing will survive a re-flash ...
tnks for all here =]
i go to the police...
Hello,
to all of you.
I want to know some things about Mobile Phone, I hope You understand this question and I'll get replies.actually, my friend has found a new Grand 2 Mobile phone still packed in box on road, I know it seems weird but "its true", and He tried to search the owner of the Phone but he got no clue, that is just a Grand 2 packed nothing else, no bill, no address, nothing, and he is little nervous that's why he doesn't want to inform about this to some P.Station (you know India Polise), so he decided to start using this device, but before that he wants to clear some things, he doesnt want to be in a some kind of mess, so please reply,
1.If we don't put sim card in Mobile, and keep the device off removing the battery, then Are Mobile Operator or Mobile Manufacture able to trace the Mobile or not?
2.Is it possible to change the IMEI number of the Mobile, If yes then Can you tell me How? or tell me the link on web?
3.Because Nothing is set up on phone till now, as I told this is packed, if we put sim card in Mobile is there any possibility by which the mobile can be traced?
4. If he only use this device as a media player, then what are the chances of something went wrong?
P.S : He found this device ten days ago, and he tried to search the person who bought this from the nearby sellers(actually he found it on very busy road), but found nothing.
Thank You.

There is a method to change the IMEI.
However, it is illegal in North America and many other countries.
I'm sorry I can't give you a link as this is illegal in the States, but keep looking around.
It's probably legal in India (a big country with the world's second biggest population ... who can trace you anyway?)
If you operate the device without a SIM card (airplane mode) or any form of Internet communication, no one is able to trace you, unless it is the CIA.
