Could someone write (or has someone written) a program for the wizard that is like keycaps for the treo (http://www.geekandproud.net/software/keycaps650.php)
Simply, its a program that lets you hold down a key to type a CAP, or double tap a key to type an ALT character. It really makes typing faster, and actually possible to type one handed. Also, its adjustable so that it will sense a double tap, but not a double letter, or you can switch funcitons if you would rather have the double tap type the CAP.
Any interest? I love this program on my treo, and feel it would make the wizard that much more one-handed friendly. (I miss it!!)
That's not exactly what you are looking for but take a look at PQz : http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=33343
Yeah, not quite what I was looking for, but thank you for the heads-up.
Anyone else??
I don't recall from any of my SIP tests, but you could try asking PDAMill if they could add that functionality to TopKey; http://www.pdamill.com/prod_tk.shtml
any update on this situation.. the only thing i really miss about my treo650 is keycaps. =)
any luck with this? i have been searching for a frix for this since i got my tilt... someone on another board said there was something exactly like keycaps for tilt called mobiKB but i cant find it.
can anyone help?

The author asked for the app not to be posted as it's a Beta
But you can keep up with its progress here:

I have to say that this is a killer app for the Touch.
If you have a Touch you really must install this software. It's awesome.

It's a lovely, good-looking piece of software, but ultimately just doesn't work for me.
I've tried keyboards on touch-screen devices but ultimately none really work for me - I think my fingers and thumbs are just too big! Also, if you are typing fast you don't really have time to check each letter before releasing your fingers from the keyboard, so the visual feedback is rendered pointless. Typing capital letters is a faff too.
The best I've found has been phonepad. Perhaps a combination of the two might be worthwhile, e.g. a phonepad with visual feedback?
Best SIP outside of phonepad!
Contact Manager is also a must for a touch user!
any1 tried to disable the dictionary? seems like its very troublesome for me as i cant type shortform.
EDIT - To disable the dictionary its in the setting -> input -> option
Only became very usable for me with "Enable Suggention" NOT selected.

The whole point of this keyboard is that you don't have to make sure you touched the right key...you just type the word, and if you typed "rgw", it'll change it to "the" because it looks at blocks of letters, almost like t9...you type and in the end the right word should be there...
it's head and shoulders above the kb that comes with any wm phones...
Go to the website, or check out the youtube vid

Whilst I agree that this is a good idea, it just doesn't work for me, I'm afraid. I think that I, and perhaps others, tend to type at least one or two non-dictionary words per text/message. I also use capital letters and punctuation a lot and, as I mentioned, I have very big hands!
I'm not saying it's no good, in fact as I mentioned I think that it's a brilliant program, I recommend everybody tries it out and reaches their own conclusions too.
It would be good if there were a way to auto-select the input (SIP) method on a per-program basis, e.g. so that PocketCMKeyboard came up automatically for text messages, but then it was the standard keyboard for other text entry. Perhaps this can already be done, I don't know.

totally off subject but it's "Touch Settings", the program to customise all the programs on the cube/mediahub and weather settings etc. I should change my sig though as it keeps popping up OT. !
I really like this keyboard, almost better than HTK. It would be nice if the period (.) were on the alpha keyboard an not the number keyboard.

It kind of is, just tap & hold the symbol key (lower LHS) and you get the . slide a little to the right & get the other most common punctuation marks.
You may want to try this skin...
I added the period and comma on the main text screen. This works very well for my Touch.

Thanks a lot for this! This is exactly what I wanted in the PCM Keyboard! I was getting sick of opening the full screen PDAMedia Keyboard. I like to see what I type
Hello. On the samsung i760 the front keypad does not have any sort of t9 mapped to it. This was a function that alot of us expected and I was wondering if its possible for someone in this forum to pull the feature off your phone and put it into a .cab file(donations would be made!!). I am not sure this is even possible but Im trying everything. Thanks
The reason we got devices with the form factor of front 12 key and slider QWERTY is because sometimes we don't need to type out a full message and T9 does fine on the front keypad. I can't see why there is any good reason for Samsung to have left this functionality out. What a dumb idea.
anyone please?
bump please?
anyone please?
I would love to see T9 on it also, but I dont think there are many working on the i760. Samsung isnt as easy to hack as HTC.
My two Himalayas (HTC) don't even have T9 predictive text on it. Does your phones at least have auto correcting text? IE if you type "Youre" and press the space bar does it turn into "You're" or "Teh" into "The"?
Yes it the auto correct and predictive text
I lost those features after installing and then un-installing the Diamond keypad.
You could hard reset...
hard reset and backup brings out the files. The issue is the backup also has the issues as it is in the registry.
Now that alot of people have Windows 6.1 on their i760's now, does that make it any easier to hack or add t9, or does that not change a thing.
Have a look at the demo of this... tell me if it helps at all...

Hi all, not sure if I'm the only one with this problem. Initially, when creating new SMSes, under the "To", when i start to key in the first few alphabets of the contact's name, the suitable names that begin with those few letters will be displayed at the top of the keypad for me to choose, so i don't have to key in the whole name. But i notice that recently, i have to key all the alphabets of the name, before it appears at the top of the keypad for me to choose? I never install any new programs before this happened so i doubt it's a clash of software. Anyone has this same issue as me?
yeah, there seem to be a problem with the hd.. i use the classic windows keyboard and it did not show up earlier.
so i followed some guys instructions with some registry edits and its working alright now. but the large qwerty of htc still has the problem. i dont use it so its no biggy for me as long as my classic keyboard works.
and on the large qwerty, i noticed that it showed up the suggestions as soon as u hit backspace after u write the first two or three letters of the name. for example, if u wrote 'smit' and hit backspace, it would show up 'smith 7906561' on the suggestion list..
this is what happens to me on the large qwerty.. check whether it happens on urs.. and if ur using the classic keyboard, i'd post the registry edits i made.. goodluck!

I think you guys have the same problem as the Touch Pro - it's T9 getting in the way. If you disable T9 then you can use other keyboards (there's a new shiny black on in the Blackstone forums) and get predictive text working properly or use the Full QWERTY keyboard which will likely work with a few kinks. Here's a long but detailed article on what to do to fix it and what you gain and lose: http://www.fuzemobility.com/?p=1527
since the Pro and HD have the same software and are similar on hardware I'm presuming this is exactly the same issue.
here you go op this works

That's the same tweak I suggested- it disables T9...mine i just a cab.
I am try to find out how to write vertically. I don't want totilt the words 90°, I want to write vertically.
Can it be done and if so, how?
Only way I know how is to add a rich text module, edit text manually, and hit enter after every letter. Not sure if this can be done with the code language, but basic words work as seen in this screen shot.
That will work if your typing in the words but doesn't work programmatically...
Hey I want an answer to this too. Please anyone knows a better way?
